Epson duplex printing feature missing in OSX Mountain Lion?

I've had an Epson Workforce 840 for a year and have many times in the past printed double sided (duplex)  When I recently purchased an Apple with Mountain Lion and installed the drivers for the printer the option to print duplex style is no longer available.
Here is an example from the Epson site on how to print in duplex from previous OSX versions but there is no comparable menu anywhere that I can find.
http://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/wf840_/wf840_00ug/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/ html/wwhelp.htm?context=Epson&file=computer.12.17.html#1487059
I have tried to print from Microsoft word and the built in messenger.  I am able to print just not double sided.
I am brand new to Apple computers so it is possible that I am missing a very basic solution but many Google searches and going through the menus 10x do not seem to have given me an answer.  Thank You

I stand corrected.  The location of the dropdown menu for that option is not in the same spot in Word.  And when I found it it had another option listed as the showing option (ie it didn't say TextEdit or Word, but rather "Copies & Pages")  I tried to print the same way in Messages and the showing option said "Layout".
It was just confused by the dropdown menus starting at different spots per each program and Word's having this dropdown menu right near the top of the print menu.
I am pretty sure that's all there is for now.  I appreciate the answers.  Being new to Apple after 15 years is a crazy feeling.

  • Epson 3880 printer doesn't connect with mountain lion

My Epson 3880 printer is connected to my Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion with a USB cable.  Since changing to Mountain Lion, I have been unable to print.  I've replaced the driver on the original software disc with the current driver shown on the Epson website with no improvement.  The message I get tells me that the printer is "not communicating" with the Macbook.  Any thoughts on how to fix this would be great.

Try deleting the /Library/Printers/Epson and /Library/Caches/Epson folders, resetting the printing system in Print & Scan prefs, then installing the printers from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398.
    Hope this helps

Try installing the Epson drivers from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398
and then seeing if adding and printing with USB works.
This site really works and my computer is now printing.

Yes, I've a lot of problems to install a printer on Lion, but after 3 days I got success
    I can't remember but I did this:
    1. In iMac System Preferences->Print&Fax->"+"
    2. In "Add Printer" click and Tool Bar->Customize Toolbar...
    3. Add "Advanced" to Tool Bar and click "Done"
    4. Click Advanced->Type->LPD/LPR Host or Printer

I did this and on Lion works fine. But now on Mountain Lion I can install, but I've received the error message
    Do you have any idea?

Just upgraded my MacBookPro to OSX Mountain Lion. Now unable to reinstall Capt.Installer driver for my Canon LBP3010 printer. Same Capt.Installer was used in previous OS.
Got message that the software was not obtained from Apple or trusted source.
Anyone can help solve this issue, do not wish to purcahse new printer, and Apple does not appear to be friendly to me

Apple is still friendly, only became more protective - for your very best. Right-click on the installer, then "Open", and then you get a window offering you the option to run it. That's a ML feature. Again, for your protection.
Independently, and as not only with Apple, a new OS X is sometimes different, and ML is that bit "pickier" with fully compatible software. So, even if your driver ran under Lion, it can be that it won't under ML. In that case please check Canon's website if they have a newer ML-compatible version, If not, also go and blame Canon. It's their responsibility to provide up-to-date drivers, not Apple's.
    Good luck.

UPDATING OSX MOUNTAIN LION ADOBE VIEWER. recently received e-bill statement. could not view. site recommended updating adobe viewer. as this feature comes OEM from Apple, how is this accomplished? Note, this was an online view for the PDF document.

Thanks for your help.  Final question. So I am assuming that PDF funcitonality is accomplished via Preview.  I assume then that the PDF creation in Mail is also similarly accomplished, that is not via an Adobe product, but equivalent funcitonality. I see now that I can download Adobe. But, does the Apple PDF equivlant provide updates to keep up witht the new encoding structures released by Adobe, so that I can only update the Apple equivalent, or is this not practical because Apple would be chasing Adobe for software updates?

  • Acrobat XI, comment keyboard shortcuts gone missing, osx mountain lion

It used to be the case, with Acrobat X, that when you are making a comment on a PDF file, one would be able to use keyboard shortcuts to speed things up.
For example, one could select a point, and hit the '~' key to 'insert text at cursor', or the 'delete' key to do a 'strikethrough', and so on. It seems that
with Acrobaat XI many of these keyboard shortcuts (but not all, 's' still seems to work) are gone.
    Is this intentional?
Also, to be honest, I was really looking forward to the Acrobat XI update for improved abilities to markup a PDF. It seems all of the effort went into
things like changing a PDF, but that is not at all how I use PDF. I almost always have the original source of a PDF, or if I don't, what I want
to do is markup a PDF (either with comments, or with ink using a wacom), and if anything the features for doing this have (as mentioned in the first paragraph
    above) gone into reverse.
Lastly, I do all of this under osx mountain lion, I should say.
    thanks.

We received a lot of issues from customers regarding the behavior in A X. Hence in A XI, we have done the changes that keyboard shortcuts for adding text correction comments will only work if "Text Correction Markup" (rightmost icon in the second row of Annotations panel) is selected or active.
Ok, I have been trying to use this for a few days, but I need to go back to acrobat X since for some reason the "text correction markup" option gets unselected about once avery 3 text corrections I make. I have been unable to figure out why it keeps getting unselected, and it is tiring to have to keep reselecting it so often. And why would you use '~' which normally does a text correction to pull up the "output preview" window???? This really makes no sense at all.
I'm also quite dissapointed that there is still no keyboard shortcut for "add note to text".
Is it really the case that so few people want to do text corrections/annotations to pdf documents that there has been no improvement to these features over the past few years? You'd think that with devices like the ipad and with remarkably good pdf readers on the ipad like goodreader (and that have a wealth of markup options, and where the authors really seem to have thought about how to make marking up pdfs quick and efficient), that acrobat would have done at least something to improve in this regard.
Oh, I figured out why "text correction markup" keeps getting unselected. I usually use esc to escable the bubble that pops up for notes/annotations to text. If you type escape again, it leaves text correction markup mode. Why would you do that?
I want to stay in text correction mode (in fact I would like it to be *always* on,like acrobat X was.
Other bugs i've found. Sometimes the bubble pops up but there is no text field. I.e., there is the highlighted callout going from the text to the bubble to the actual text, but then the text field is not shown. This is clearly a bug.
Again, this is all osx mountain lion. Maybe Adobe is still mad at apple due to flash? I don't know, but it really seems like you did not test this version very thoroughly.

  • HT1338 I just installed OSX snow leapord and just want to be able to use icloud.  I up--graded my old macbook to 2 gigs and still can't get it to download icloud .  would go to osx mountain lion but can't do that either.  What do I have to do???

I want to use icloud to sync w/my new apple tv.  bought osx snow leopard and installed it plus upgraded to 2 gigs memory for my
old (2007) macbook.  still won't work. I need to get to at least osx 10.7.4 or to osx mountain lion.  Tried everything and can't get there.
I'm not a computer whiz...quite a novice.  so, if you can help; please speak in layman language....ha   Thanks

    iCloud requires 10.7.2 or later.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

To recover Mountain Lion to your purchases, open App Store > Featured > Account (under Quick Links) > Show hidden purchases, and show OS X Mountain Lion. Finally, it will appear on Purchases tab

  • Download of update to OSX Mountain Lion

I was updating to OSX Mountain Lion, used my computer for something else and the download got interrupted.
How do I resume the download?

That is a point many users miss...even Apple has limited bandwidth when it comes time to release a major operating system and millions of users want to download at the same time...during the first two weeks one should expect delays and long, long download times.
It is getting to the point that suggesting downloading during "off hours" isn't even good advice...world-wide there is no such thing as an off hours time segment
I have a very fast f9ber optic carrier and download took around thirty minutes...another good reason to tell people to make a copy of the installer before doing the installation so you do not need to download again.

  • How do I uninstall Acrobata XI on osx mountain lion?

So I tried out the trial version of Acrobat XI, and I'm dissapointed to say that I find it to be very poor.
I mainly was hoping that there would be new features for annotation of existing PDF files, but the features have actually made it harder
to do so (e.g., new "features" like needing to select an extra button to mark things up, text windows being half there, etc.).
In any event, my one month trial will be over in about a week but I'm ready to uninstall it now (I'm staying with Acrobat X), but
one other "feature" of acrobat XI is that there does not seem to be an uninstall program on osx Mountain Lion (this is particularly
annoying since for some reason something keeps setting Acrobat XI to be the default pdf reader, even though I keep explicitly
setting it to be Acrobat X). Acrobat XI is a real lemon.
In any event, can someone help me get this program (Acrobat XI) off of my machine?
    thanks very much.

Actually, I figured out how to do it. There is a program (or script, or something) right in the same directory where the program lives, and if you just run that, it will do the trick.
I'll be back again to take a look at Acrobat XII, unless I find something else before then ...
Please, next time, work on annotation of existing pdfs (things like ink, comments, etc., all of the things that the ipad app Goodreader, or even iannotate, is good at).

  • OSX Mountain LIon - Power Nap functionality MBP 13' with SSD

    Hi there,
I own an early 2011 13' MBP with a preconfigured 256 Gb SSD. since OSX Mountain Lion will be released next July, I was wondering if the new Power Nap functionality will be supported on my MacBook (on the website it states you need flash storage installed)?
    With kind regards,

The documentation seems to vary somewhat.  On the tech spec page it says this:
    Power Nap
Supports MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer), MacBook Pro with Retina display.
    Look under Feature specific requirements:
