Epson print choices missing in Leopard

Hi
My i700 prints (standard) in Leopard but the print choices (border-less a.s.o.) I had in Tiger are gone. When I open Print & Fax/Driver the printer is grayed out with:
"To take full full advantage of your printer's options, confirm that they are accurately shown here"
Since the original software is incompatible with Leopard I don't know how to get back the 6 options I used to have. Help, please.
W.W.

I have an Epson Stylus CX4200 that is connected to a G3 Imac running Tiger. I have several setups I created including B&W good, better, best, Color good, better, best, and DVD labels, etc.
I share this printer over a DLink wireless router with a G4 Powerbook running Leopard. Before I installed Leopard, I had access to all those setups on this laptop, when running in Tiger. When I upgraded, I lost the ability to print in anything but standard mode. (That was after reading a bunch of discussion items in this forum, and going into the terminal and doing some code work)
I tried to create a new printer and use some of the other Epson drivers, in case one would work with the CX4200, and unlock the ability to make presets.
There are too many Epson drivers to go thru, but I did try at least ten. They did give me more menus to setup presets, but when it can to actual print what I had setup, it wouldn't send it to the printer.
Any thoughts other than waiting on Apple to bugfix this? No new drivers at Epson.
Thanks,
Paul

  • How to align Epson print cd after snow leopard upgrade?

I have just brought everything over to a new mac - but i cant for the life of me print onto cds / dvds anymore. - using an epson stylus photo r210
It seems like the epson print cd software cant align printing onto a DVD/cd under mac osx 10.6
it prints the cd ink all over the cd tray - and misses the cd completely - well - about 10% of the printed image makes the cd - on the right hand side the is ink all over the tray.
The epson print cd software only allows alignment to within 5mm - i am about 50 mm out.
can anyone tell me how to calibrate the image so it centers on the disc?

  • Epson Print Utility missing

I insatlled the latest Guten driver so I could use the automatic paper cutter. I did not realize I would loss the support for the utilities. Which I find utterly stupid. Why would they take that away?? Who wants a printer that they are unable to clean the heads on or check your ink levels???
I did a search and see that I have the Epson Print Utiliy folder in a previous sytem. Is this something I can use? I tried to copy it and drag it into the Libaray/Printer folder it did not work. How do I get it into the application folder where it belongs?
If I can use Pacifist to do this can someone instruct me on how to do that??
Thanks for any help on this.

I did the custom install, restarted and opened print utilities and it sat their scanning for a printer (yes the printer is on)??? does this utility have to run with a specific driver?
Did you add a printer using the Epson drivers? You may not want to use that printer to print, but it might be necessary to have a print queue with the Epson drivers established before the Utility will recognize it.
I would try the Gutenprint Utility but I am pretty sure it does not support the Epson Stylus Photo 2200.
Is there a basis for that statement? There are some Epson printers that do not work with the Gutenprint Epson Inkjet Printer Utility. Most will work, however.

  • Epson 2200 printer options missing in Leopard

I've just spent almost an hour with Apple Support and they were not able to help with this issue, despite the fact that a quick Google search shows that I'm not the only person with this problem.
I'm using the most recent Epson drivers from the Epson website and although I can print, I cannot select any paper types, resolution, double sided printing, high-speed, etc. I've tried to reset the printer queue, I've deleted all the driver from my Library>Printer folder and reinstalled... NOTHING.
Anyone have any suggestions? I've done several searches and followed the various procedures others have recommended to no avail.

I have no trouble printing to my 2200 using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and Preview.
What drivers are you using Epsons or Gutenprint? I am using the Epson one (ver 3.09)
You can find out the drivers by opening System Preferences -> Printers Select the Epson and then click on Open PRint Queue, click on the 'i' Info button in the print queue to see the version.
I think you need to use Epson's. I downloaded them from their site and installed them. I also downloaded there paper profiles and installed them.
Finding the "handle" to get to the things you want to set was, and to some degree, still is, a bit obscure to me being relatively new to the Mac (and loving it!)
Using Preview as an example open an image and: Select File -> Print
In the middle of the column of various Settings you will see Preview click on it and you see a bunch of choices like: Page Settings, Color management, Print Settings etc. Each of these changes the options ans let's you select paper size, paper type, print speed who manages color etc.
    In Photoshop CS3
You select some of the options in (Photoshop File -> Print and the rest after you hit Print which gets you the Mac OS X Print dialog. In this case "Layout" is in the middle box instead of "Preview" but clicking on it reveals the same option dialogs.
There is a similar thread [here|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1669867] for the moment I'm working with him directly as we're into some nitty gritty specifics but I expect we'll summarize some of the results when we're done.
If this doesn't help give us some specifics of what/how you're trying to print.

  • FIX for EPSON Print CD V2.02 - EPSON Stylus Photo R200 - MAC OS 10.5.9

I thought I'd post this ridiculously long info sheet on what finally got my R200 to work with EPSON Print CD and 10.5.8 just in case it might help someone else BEFORE they spend days searching for a solution.
Check the printer driver information in System Preferences, Print & Fax. If it says anything other than EPSON SP R200 Series, you’ve likely located the problem. My system showed the Gutenprint v5.1.3 and /or CUPS/+GIMP... I originally replaced the Gutenprint driver file with the CUPS... file thinking this would solve the Gutenprint driver problem. But, as I continued to look into what was going on, I think I found out that both driver files are actually considered Gutenprint driver files.
    1. Select the hard drive where the operating system is located.
    2. Select Library/Printers.
    3. Select the Epson folder and delete it and then Empty Trash to make sure it’s gone.
    4. Select Library/Preferences.
    5. Select the Epson folder and delete any files that are there.
(Steps 4 & 5 might not be necessary, but I’m listing everything that I did.)
    6. In System Preferences, select Printers and Fax. Control click in listing area and select Reset Printers.
    7. Load the Leopard Installation CD and select Optional Installation.
    8. Select Printers and select Epson. This will reload the printer drivers for all the EPSON printers that are included on the install CD.
    9. Go back to the System Preferences, Printers and Fax window. Click on the + sign to add a printer.
    10. There will likely be a listing with Printer Name as EPSON Stylus Photo R200, Kind as USB.
    11. Click on an arrow in the Print Using: box and select EPSON SP R200 Series. The printer icon changed dramatically at this point, with a rainbow of colors on the document shown coming out of the printer.
Note: **Working within the Print & Fax app seems to be key to getting the settings corrected.** Someone else pointed out that they also found this necessary. However, I couldn’t get the proper “Print Using:” option to appear until I cleaned out the Library/Printers/Epson folder, “Reset Printers”, and reloaded the EPSON printer drivers from the Leopard installation CD.
I had previously done the “Reset Printers” and reloaded the printer files, but as was advised against in the post I mentioned, I selected the “More Printers” option. That’s where I found the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 listed with the CUPS+Gimp ... and the Gutenprint driver listing options. Selecting what appeared to be the Gutenprint alternate printer driver didn’t help at all. I’m not sure if the EPSON SP R200 driver file was missing from the original listing of printer drivers or if I just missed it. I certainly would have looked for it if I had known it was the one that’s needed.
    12. Open the EPSON Print CD V2.02 app. Although I had already installed the Easy Print update, I got a message saying that the application needed the update to work. So, I reinstalled the Easy Print update.
    13. After reinstalling the Easy Print update, I reselected Update Printer Information. Much to my amazement, I got a message and a progress indicator showing the Printer Information was being updated to reflect the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 printer.
    14. When the Update Printer Information process had completed, I clicked on Print and suddenly found that I was able to choose Select Printer and pick the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 and CD/DVD wondrously appeared in the Media Type.
After this point, all the other instructions that are provided from EPSON seemed to work just fine.
Hopefully, there’s enough information in here somewhere that people with other operating systems and printers might at least be able to get a clue . . .

I dug around on the Epson site and found this which seemed to address the exact problem so they obviously know about it. Unfortunately even these rather drastic steps failed to solve the issue for me.

  • EPSON Printing with Leopard --- Less options than in 10.4?

    Hello -
Small graphic design business -- using an EPSON 1280 for printing invoices/proofs etc...
Since updating to 10.5 we can't print with the proper paper --- selecting from the EPSON printer pulldown - under print settings -- only to "Matte paper - Heavyweight" - the option to print on Plain Paper, 360 inkjet paper, photo quality ink jet paper and others is grayed out --
We need to print on "plain paper" for invoices and can't figure it out -- also will pose problems with printing proofs for clients -- .. We have tried RE-installing EPSON 1280 print software (twice) to no avail -- ALSO --- the EPSON print untility - used to check ink levels, clean printer etc... -- does not work with LEOPARD 10.5 ---
Does anyone have a solution for this ?

That the utility doesn't work is usually an indication that the driver being used is not Epson's proprietary driver. Try deleting and re-adding the printer using Epson's Leopard driver. That may also help with the paper choices. (There is another thread on this here somewhere.)
    Hope this helps.

  • Macbook X 10.6.8. Epson SX218 failed to print every fifth line, but only in MS Office documents. I updated Office. Now that line is slightly blurred as though the printer had missed out a pass.

I am helping a disabled person with a printing problem involving a Macbook, an Epson SX218, and MS Office for Macs. The Macbook had been recently updated to OS X 10.6.8, and the printer driver reinstalled, by an Apple store. She complained the printer failed to print about every fifth line. It turned out there was no problem at all with printing web pages and emails, but only with Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). I updated
Office. Later all lines were printed, but imperfectly with a bit missing from bottom of every fifth line, as though the printer had missed out a pass, so I am not sure the Office update is what made the difference. I am not at all sure whether this problem arises from the Mac or the printer or Office.

It looks like that the installation process of one of the applications have caused some trouble. One of them may have changed or added kext files.
For that, the Window server crashed if you try to open a non Apple application like Firefox
Start the system in safe mode by holding the shift key on power on.
If save mode is reached, perform a permissions repair with the Disk Utility.
Don't bother about upcoming warnings like "could not repair file xy" as that occur cause you use the tool on a running system and opened files can not get touched by the tool.
After repair is done reboot system to normal and try to open Firefox.
If the problem persits, please report back here.

  • I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard and have lost my epson printer software. On Epson Aus. web page there is no upgrade of their software for my printer with Snow Leopard. Can i download a lesser operating system software for printer?

I have just upgraded to snow leopard and lost my epson printer software. I have checked Epson Aus web site for printer software but they haven't upgraded it for snow leopard. Am i able to download software for a lesser operating system then snow leopard or do i have to purchase a new printer? The model is stylus photo R310.

Have you tried the R300 or R320 software? Typically the software covers a broad spectrum of printers, often providinbg overlap to cover "relatives" of a series.

  • Epson Printer Drivers and Leopard - Epson 740 or Epson RX700 problems

It seems even after Epson updated their printer drivers Leopard will not all me to print to my Epson Stylus Color 740 AND my Epson RX700, I must choose one over the other.
If I install the printer drivers from Apple they include drivers for the old Epson Stylus Color 740 and it works fine. The problem is it kills my new Epson RX700 printer. It still works, but I cannot print CDs.
If I delete the Epson printer drivers from my Library folder and start over with the updated Epson RX700 drivers I can print to the RX700 including to CDs, but they do not offer an Epson Stylus Color 740 printer driver beyond system 9.
I have tried installing the newer Epson RX700 drivers over top of the Apple installation but the same result happens.
Can anybody help? I need the old drivers from Apple's system 10.5 installation disk so I can print to my old workhorse Epson 740 and my Apple 630 laser writer pro. But I also would like to print to CDs using my new RX700.

I have exactly the same problem...I have submitted a query to Epson...but we all know how good support is from companies like Epson and Apple

  • Snow Leopard Updated Epson Printer Driver for Epson R800 - poor colour !

I just installed through software update the latest epson printer drivers and, then, deleted the Epson R800 from my printer list and added it back in (with the new printer driver). I did find a slightly different printer dialog box and found the setting of "presets" worked now (it did not previously).
However, when I printed out of Adobe Lightroom 2.6, using a custom paper profile and no colour management, that the print was faded, the colours were washed out. The result was unacceptable. After a few attempts, I looked in the Library folder, printers, epson and found two folders labeled, "inkjet printer" and "inkjet printer2". I determined that "inkjetprinter2" was the new folder and deleted it and deleted/added in my Epson r800 (using "inkjetprinter" folder. The resulting print was perfect.
So, my conclusion is that the new driver is not functioning as it should and I would warn users to be prepared for problems. Am I missing something here? Could I have done the updating of the printer driver and printer differently?

You may need to recalibrate you monitor color settings.
One of the things that changed from 10.5 to 10.6 was gamma; if you are using calibration from 10.5 or earlier, the gamma change will throw off print colors.
Personally, on my last 2 epson printers (R300, RX685), I've configured to let the printer color manage, and used the Vivid setting.
Have not had any off colors, etc.

    Hi
I had the same problem with my MB Pro and an Epson Stylus Photo PX700W printer after upgrading to snow leopard.
I got onto Epson tech support and was advised to do the following (which worked by the way!)
    1) Delete the Epson printer from the "Print & Fax" utility in the "System Preferences"
To do this, open "Print & Fax" and choose the epson printer in the left hand pane under "printers".
    Then hit delete
    2) Go to the Epson support site and download the latest drivers for your printer
    URL = http://www.epson.co.uk/support
    3) Enter your printer type and on the following page choose "drivers and software"
    4) I personally downloaded the driver plus the Print CD application although I believe it may have been the same version as the one I already had installed.
    5) Once the driver package is downloaded use the installer and install as normal
    6) Once installed go back into "Print & Fax" and choose the + button under the printer left hand pane to choose a new printer.
In my case the printer was found on wifi using bonjour and I just chose it
    7) launch the "Print CD" app and try to print
In my case all the options that had been greyed out had returned and I was once most able to print to CD/DVDs
    I hope this helps

I just update my Mac operating system from Snow Leopard to Yosemite and now have to upgrade my Epson Printer WF3540 so that it will be able to scan. Will Adobe be compatible with these softwares?

    Hi spiritentrep,
What Adobe software are you referring to? Are you using Acrobat? You should have no problems running Acrobat XI on Yosemite, and as along as you have compatible scanner drivers for your Epson, you should be fine there as well.

  • No paper appears for Soft Proofing in Snow Leopard and R1900 Epson printer...?

No papers appear for Soft Proofing a photo when using Epson R1900 printer and in Snow Leopard.
Print driver 6.62 is installed. Soft Profing papers are listed when an image is open in Preview but
can't print from Preview. None appear when a photo is open in Photoshop. Paper profiles
are listed in Color Sync Folder in Library but they don't appear for Soft Proofing when in PS.
How can I get profiles for Soft Proofing? They did appear when my printer was in Tiger & a Power Mac...?

I can't really tell which drivers you are using right now. It sounds like the best course of action for you is to uninstall all of the Epson printer drivers and reinstall them one at a time. You will need to go into the Library/Caches folder and delete the Epson folder. Also go into the Library/Printers folder and delete the Epson folder. In the PPDs folder, delete the .gz files for your printers, too. If you are using the Gutenprint driver, you will need to uninstall that first. You can download the uninstaller at the following URL:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/Uninstaller%20-%20Mac%20OS%20X% 20ONLY/1.2.6/gutenprint-uninstaller-1.2.6.dmg/download
Click on the file it downloads and uninstall Gutenprint.
Once all the drivers have been uninstalled, install the latest drivers for each of your printers one at a time and make sure each works before installing to the next one.
    Hope this helps, Syd

  • I upgraded from leopard to lion and my epson printer will not work. I get a communication error

I upgraded from leopard to lion and my Epson printer will not work. I get a error message comunication error. What can Ido to fix this I bought a new USB cord and it did no good.

I suddenly had the same thing happen. I've had my new iMac for 3 months and at first my Epson Artisan 50 worked okay then yesterday I started getting the same error message other people on this support site have gotten. I tried ALL the advice given (deleating the Epson files from the library folder, etc. reinstalling older software) and nothing worked. With the newest iMac (and operating system) you cannot pick and choose which version of Epson software you want. You must use the 10.8 version or it simply will not open when you've downloaded it. Finally I found the comment above by den.thed and tried the OS X Mountain Lion: Reset the printing system suggested. As much as I hated to lose all my printing presets that took a lot of expiermentation to set up, I was desperate. I tried it and it worked. Now I just have to consult my old computer and try to recreate all my printing set ups.  So to others with Epson / Apple 10.8 issues this may help when everything else fails. Thanks den.thed for your advice.

  • CS5 print dialog missing Epson 7800 profiles

Is there a simple way to get my Epson printer profiles to load onto CS5. I'm normally quite good at solving these things by myself, but this case has me well stumped. Help anyone?

Again: in CS5, the profiles that the driver says belong to the selected printer will show up at the top of the menu. Any custom profiles you have built for that printer will also be in the menu, in the normal alphabetical list.
If there are no profiles at the top, that is because the driver hasn't identified any profiles as belonging to the chosen printer.
If there are no additional profiles listed, that is because there is a problem with how you installed them on the system.
We haven't seen any problems with this yet.
