Epson Printer Driver not working

I live in Japan but have my iMac set up fully as English. However, I have a printer that is only made in Japan. Epson PX-G5100. I have downloaded the correct driver and installed the printer but I only get the most basic printer dialog box when I click on the options page. When this exact same printer is installed on my vista machine it works fine and I get the full dialog box. I use Lightroom to print with but even then I cannot get anything to work on the printer other then the very basic stuff. For Example, I cannot choose paper type, feed type or any color adjustments. This is very frustrating problem because I just bought this 24" iMac specifically to work with this printer.
Hope someone can help me out with this one.
Thanks in advance.
Kerry

Hi again Kerry,
The Printer Dialogue window appears when you select File->Print from within any application. You'll see a window similar to the one below:
You'll notice the second drop down menu which I have clicked in the above image. By selecting an option from this drop down menu you can carry out any adjustments you wish prior to printing.

  • I upgraded from leopard to lion and my epson printer will not work. I get a communication error

I upgraded from leopard to lion and my Epson printer will not work. I get a error message comunication error. What can Ido to fix this I bought a new USB cord and it did no good.

I suddenly had the same thing happen. I've had my new iMac for 3 months and at first my Epson Artisan 50 worked okay then yesterday I started getting the same error message other people on this support site have gotten. I tried ALL the advice given (deleating the Epson files from the library folder, etc. reinstalling older software) and nothing worked. With the newest iMac (and operating system) you cannot pick and choose which version of Epson software you want. You must use the 10.8 version or it simply will not open when you've downloaded it. Finally I found the comment above by den.thed and tried the OS X Mountain Lion: Reset the printing system suggested. As much as I hated to lose all my printing presets that took a lot of expiermentation to set up, I was desperate. I tried it and it worked. Now I just have to consult my old computer and try to recreate all my printing set ups.  So to others with Epson / Apple 10.8 issues this may help when everything else fails. Thanks den.thed for your advice.

  • Proofing layouts to an Epson printer (driver, not RIP)

Much has been written about this. I wonder if anything has been resolved.
    IDCS3
    OSX 10.5.2
    (same results w/ OSX 10.4.11)
    Here's the situation:
IDCS3 document containing CMYK images, black type, PMS ink objects.
When attempting to proof the document to an Epson 3800, I get very screwy color in both the CMYK images and the PMS simulations. The color of the images looks similar to what you'd see by assigning the Epson profile to the CMYK files - way dark, way muddy, etc. There is a connection that is not being made in IDCS3 when it sends the info to the printer.
Here's the set-up in the IDCS3 print dialog:
    General:
    Printer: Epson 3800
    Output:
Color: Composite RGB (the only option available - due to the RGB output space)
    Color Management:
    Print: Document
    Options: Let ID Determine Color
Printer Profile: Pro38 PLPP (the correct output profile for the Epson/paper combo)
All the correct settings are used in the Epson driver - media type, no color adjustment, etc.
BTW, I get the same result when selecting "Proof" under Color Mgmt/Print
The CMYK image files proof perfectly and accurately out of Photoshop.
I used to print everything out of ID back in the 2.0 days. No problem.
Any thoughts before I revert to the 20th century?

    >Are you saying that the standard set of profiles I have (both "canned" and custom) will not work with InDesign? That doesn't make sense.
No it doesn't but that is the way Adobe did it. You have to make your profiles from targets printed from ID with Color Settings to "Emulate Adobe Indesign 2.0 CMS Off" and that is just the way it is.
    >What is that difference? I'm printing from a MacPro.
IDCS3 on the MacPro prints darker and with more of a bluish cast then IDSC3 on a G5. As it is I have to have a paper/printer profile for PSCS3 Intel, PSCS3 PPC, IDCS3 Intel, IDCS3 PPC. That is four profiles for the same paper same printer. Oh yes and one more for Canon iPF 16-bit plugin.
It isn't much fun but everything matches this way.

  • Epson Print Utility not working in 10.4

I've had this problem for a long time, and thought posting a topic on here might get me a solution. I have a old epson C42UX. Work great with printing, but I am unable to use the Print Utility program anymore for maintenance. It just locks up... the program itself never opens. i think this has happened ever since I updated to 10.4... a long time I know. Can anyone tel me how to fix this. There appears to be no software update on the epson web site.

What drivers are you using? My guess is that you are using the Guteprint drivers. That latest driver from Epson says that it supports OS X 10.1.3 - OS X 10.1.5, so I don't think Epson produced a driver that would work in OS X 10.4.x.
If your printer is not supported by Epson drivers, you will not be able to use the Epson Utility.
If you are indeed using the Gutenprint drivers, upgrade them to the latest version (5.2.2) from _http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php_. There is a text based utility included on the disk image for Epson inkjet printers. It will allow you to run a nozzle check, clean the heads, and align the heads. You will not be able to get the ink levels however.

  • EPSON  print CD not working

    Hi,
Has anyone had problems with Epson's print CD prog. working with Leopard.
If so can anyone suggest a suitable CD print prog. for direct printing onto the printable Cd area.
    Thanks
    David

    David,
The problem is addressed on the Epson website in the FAQs of the Leopard compatibility pages.
It seems to have to do with Leopard using the Guttenprint driver rather than the Epson original driver.
    Good luck.

  • Epson Printer will not work with Pagemaker 6.5

I am having a problem with my Mac I run Jaguar 1.3X on it with OS9 which pagemaker runs under.
I can print with every application and print information from the internet, but can not print my PageMaker files. Is there a fix out there for this or do I have to upgrade to a newer OS?
I get an error like this everytime I try to print using Pagemaker 6.5
    *"Cannot access current printer"*
    *"Cannot access printer"*
    8513:5221

Some programs do not work as well under Classic as they do under native OS9 and you may be encountering this. Pagemaker may be having a hard time talking to the OSX generation of printer drivers. You can check [Gutenprint drivers|http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php] for an alternate set of drivers, but I don't know much about them or Jaguar OS... I would not be over optimistic about getting a newer version of OSX to assist. What version of OS9 are you using for Classic? You could try changing that, especially if there is a newer version.

  • HP printer driver not working with 10.8.2

Can anyone give me advice on how to make my all in one laserjet HP printer M2727nf work in 10.8.2.  Downloaded new driver software on January 10, since the new OS software update today again the printer is no longer connecting.
I have given up on the scanning function, albeit that it would be nice if it eventually would work again as well.

  • Epson Printer Driver v8.31 not showing up on my OSX 10.4.11

When installing a new Epson Printer Driver v8.31 for my Workforce 630 all-in-one printer on my G5 OSX 10.4.11 Power MAC, along with Epson support on the phone, it is not showing up in my Utilities folder. Epson said I needed to contact MAC about changing some settings. The printer was working fine yesterday but not printing today .... like it wasn't there. After trying several things with Epson Support they said I should download the new driver and, as I said, with their guidance it wasn't showing up in my Utilities Folder. When I called MAC Support they referred me here to avoid paying $50 for their support. Any ideas?

Whew, Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Then remove the instance of the old one & try adding again.

I bought a new Epson printer WR-7620 on Saturday and the Air Printer is not working. I spoke to Epson and they said it is an Apple problem, can anyone help. Thanks Peter

    Peter,
deggie gave you that link so you'd know that airprint is a reduced-options print system, designed for mobile devices (not Macs), and you need to use the specific airprint driver on the Mac when adding the printer if you want Airprint, no-options printing. Otherwise, select the "non-airprint" driver when you add the printer.
It may be helpful to Reset the Printing System to get OS X to find the right driver.

  • I have just discovered that my Epson printer is not compatible with my new iPad 2.  Does anyone know of a way around this as I don't want to have to purchase a new printer just for my iPad?  Is Apple working on a solution for this?  Am very disappointed

My Epson Artisan 610 printer will not work with my new iPad 2.  Not AirPrint compatible.  Only certain HP printers work.  Are there any solutions to this other than buying an HP printer?

Epson iPrint doesn't allow printing directly from something like Photos, you have to call up iPrint and THEN select Photos, but it does work and very well.  For my Epson Artisan 725, I had it print a photo, best quality, on 4x6 Premium Photo Paper, and it DID automatically select the right "tray" with my photo paper.
    Thanks for posting this suggestion.
This was SUPPOSE to be replying to the following:

  • Epson Perfection 2400 Scanner issue with Epson Print Driver 2.4.1 Update

After the Epson Print Driver 2.4.1 update, my scanner quit working with Image
Capture, which hangs during the overview scan. The scanner makes a pass over
the document, but Image Capture just sits for a while saying "Overview Scan..."
and then fails with a generic error message.
I tried the suggestion in [11993273|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11993273&#11993273 ], but that did not work for me.
    Any other ideas?

Thank's for the suggestion, but no help.
It is not straight-forward to uninstall the driver because Apple installer
does not offer an uninstall option. I resorted to
    sudo find /Library -iname "epson" -print -exec mv {} ~/Desktop/epson \;
in the terminal. Reboot. Ran EPSONPrinterDrivers.pkg. Ran Disk Utility's
Repair Permissions. Reboot. Added scanner back in the System Preferences.
Opened Image Capture, the overview scan started and a few minutes later
    *Scanner reported and error*
    An error occured during scanning.

  • Printing problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16

Has anyone experienced any problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16 through Software Update? I am having problems printing. It denotes an error message, specifically the rastertoescpii.app isn't working?

Oops, wanted everyone to know that the driver that Software Update downloaded and installed was 2.18, not 2.16 (which was the last one that worked for me). I just got done downloading the 2.18 driver directly from the Apple support website and installing it. Guess what? My printer is now working and everything is fine. If you are having issues, I suggest this route. Guess I solved my own problem, but hope this helps someone else.
