Epson Printer Driver Update 2.18 and Stylus Photo 1400

My Mac Mini was unable to communicate with my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 printer, after installing the recent Epson Printer Driver Update 2.18. I am running Mac OS 10.7.5. Reinstalling the original driver from the Epson CD got me back on track, but, a test print from the installer did not work without additional software from Apple's servers. Avoid Update 2.18, if you are using similar equipment.

Since updating to EPSON Printer Software Update 2.18, I have not been able to print to my EPSON Stylus DX6000 (under OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard).  The printer dialog box says
Error:/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/ MacOs/rastertoescpll failed
Using Time Machine, I restored rastertoescpll.app from a time before I upgraded to the 2.18 drivers, but that didn't work.  I then restored the entire EPSON folder from
/Library/Printers/
from a time before I upgraded to the 2.18 drivers, and that still didn't work.
I was not able to find the Update 2.17 on the Apple site, but I was able to find it on the www.techspot.com site.
I downloaded EPSON Printer Software Update 2.17 from
http://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/16158/
This downloaded EPSONPrinterDrivers2.17.dmg
I dragged the EPSON folder to the Trash, and emptied the Trash.  I then ran the installer for the 2.17 drivers.  After switching the printer off and on again, I was finally able to print.

  • Problem with Latest Epson Printer Driver Update

I installed the Epson printer driver update that came out today, but it made absolutely no difference. My Epson printer is still using a the same old Epson driver plus Gutenprint. There is no other option. I don't get it. What's the point of installing the update if the printer is still stuck with Gutenprint? My printer (Epson Stylus Photo R340) is supported according to Apple's list.

Thanks for that tip, John. I found the "Epson SP R340 series" driver by searching for it as you suggested.
    Happy to help Alan.
HOWEVER, I cannot print with this driver. I get the following error message when I try to print:
    Error: Library/Printers/EPSON/InketPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS/r astertoescpll failed
This seems common with the Epson drivers, there are several posts here with that problem. Some users have had success deleting the printer from Print & Fax Prefs and adding it again using the Epson (non-Gutenprint) driver. Others have had to delete the <hard drive>/Library/Printers/EPSON and /Library/Caches/Epson folders, re-download the update, then re-add the printer.
I would try the first one first since it's the easiest and you already have the update installed. If that doesn't work, the second should.
    Hope this helps.

  • Epson print driver update

    Running S L.
When installing accidentally updated Epson print drivers.
Does anyone know of how to remove this update - as now use Canon printer.

For some reason the +Epson Printer Driver Update+ and +HP Printer Driver Update+ seem to be 'sticky' in the Software Update list under Snow Leopard. They often remain in the list even after you install them.
When you run Software Update, just uncheck them so you don't re-install them.
And BTW, turn off automatic software updates. Do them manually & selectively.

Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.
Reinstall the driver directly from Epson's website.  If you are still having problems after the reinstall, you should contact Epson tech support for a solution and/or work-a-round.

  • HT3669 Epson printer driver update for 10.8.5

Apple lists "software available" to update my Epson Artisan 50 printer driver to version 9.0.  However, when I do an Apple software update the printer is not listed and does not update.  Epson website says all updates must be done through Apple.  I just recently got a new iMac with Mountain Lion and switched the printer from my old 10.4 iMac.  It no longer prints colors accurately so after going through all the standard "fixes" with Epson I hoped a driver update would help.  Any ideas?

sorry - it is HP Photosmart D110a.  the HP website says that there is no additional software other than the Apple update:
"With the release of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, HP is providing updated print drivers and software for your printer. These updates are available through Apple Software Update . You do not need to download a driver from HP to use your printer with Mountain Lion."

What functionality is available in the HP driver update through Apple Software Update?
Depending on the printer functionality , one or more of the following software components might be included in the HP driver update for Mountain Lion:
    HP print driver
    HP fax driver
    HP Utility
HP scanning files compatible with Apple’s Image Capture and Preview applications

  • Epson Printer Driver Update 2.3.1

Software Update just informed me that this update is available; for now I've chosen to ignore it because a) my AIO printer functions flawlessly and b) I thought I'd read that the new update tends to result in problems.
Has anyone installed it and experienced any problems?

  • Installed Epson printer driver from two places..

I recently upgraded to a new MacBook and Snow Leopard. I use an Epson printer & scanner, and an HP all-in-one at work. I didn't realize that 10.6.2 had built-in drivers and installed the Epson and HP drivers & software from the company websites (not apple.com). Then I saw the December Epson printer driver update on apple.com and downloaded that...
Do I now have a bunch of repeat installs?
    Thanks!

    Hello Elise:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
Do I now have a bunch of repeat installs?
    Short answer - maybe.
If the printers are working properly, I would not be concerned. If they are not, you could do a "find" (include system files in the search) and see what you have. You could also reinstall OS X 10.6 over your current system and then run software update. I would not do that (time involved) unless you are having problems.

  • HT1338 How do I get a driver for my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 so that it will run with Mountain LIon?  I tried "Software Update" and says "no update available"

How do I get a driver for my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 so that it will run with Mountain LIon?  I tried "Software Update" and says "no update available".  I contacted Epson and was told all driver updates had to be obtained using "Software Update"?

You will find the latest Epson drivers herehttp://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398.
If you don't find a driver for your printer in the above, then install the Gutenprint drivers. It supports your model.

  • Epson Perfection 2400 Scanner issue with Epson Print Driver 2.4.1 Update

After the Epson Print Driver 2.4.1 update, my scanner quit working with Image
Capture, which hangs during the overview scan. The scanner makes a pass over
the document, but Image Capture just sits for a while saying "Overview Scan..."
and then fails with a generic error message.
I tried the suggestion in [11993273|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11993273&#11993273 ], but that did not work for me.
    Any other ideas?

Thank's for the suggestion, but no help.
It is not straight-forward to uninstall the driver because Apple installer
does not offer an uninstall option. I resorted to
    sudo find /Library -iname "epson" -print -exec mv {} ~/Desktop/epson \;
in the terminal. Reboot. Ran EPSONPrinterDrivers.pkg. Ran Disk Utility's
Repair Permissions. Reboot. Added scanner back in the System Preferences.
Opened Image Capture, the overview scan started and a few minutes later
    *Scanner reported and error*
    An error occured during scanning.

  • 10.7.5, MacBook Pro Why can't I update many things including my Epson printer driver?

10.7.5, MacBook Pro Why can't I update many things including my Epson printer driver?

Not sure. I'd have to be sitting in front of it to tell what is really going on. Do you have a valid internet connection?
Make a note of the updates then go to the Apple Download website and download one or two of them and then try to install them.
You have to do a search for them.

  • Upgraded to Mountain Lion and CS3, I am no longer able to access the correct dialog box for fine printing with Epson Stylus Photo 1400.

I have recently upgraded my Mac OS to Mountain Lion, and am using Photoshop CS3 together with Lightroom 5. To my absolute horror, in either Adobe program I am no longer able to access the dialog box which allows me to choose paper type, size, and print quality when attempting to print on my Epson Stylus Photo 1400. An excruciating hour on the phone with largely unintelligible folks at Epson seemed to prove the problem lies with Adobe instead of Epson. I'd greatly appreciate whatever advice might be forthcoming from the Community.

Well, this seemed to work.. can't believe it! After a year of messing with this!
    from Stevejones5
"I found a way around this problem. GO to HD/Library/Printers/Epson/InkjetPrinter/ICCProfiles and you will find a file labeled Pro38.profiles. This is a package file. Control click on it and reveal contents. Then you can copy all the profiles and paste them into your Colorsync folder either in the HD/Library folder or your own Home folder/Library. Then the profiles will show up in Photoshop and Lightroom."
Key, is to Control click on the printer to "Open contents". Then open Resource folder. Copy everything in it and then paste it into the "Colorsync" folder in your Library.  (Remember, to get to Library you have to hold the command key down for it to appear in "Go" Menu for Finder.
Then I reinstalled printer driver from Apple, then rebooted computer, then plugged in printer. And VOILA-- I can now select Epson Premium Photo Paper Luster!

  • Epson Printer Driver/Apple Update Conflict?

The Apple Epson Driver 2.15 update (Snow Leopard) was in conflict with the installed Epson  Printer Driver on Epson WF-2530 causing a permanent printing failure. Epson reported that "their staff was working with Apple  Staff" to eliminate the conflict. Epson Technicians warned not to install 2.15 or I would lose printing capability again. Recently an Apple Epson Driver download was announced (2.15.1 @30.9 MB). Does that eliminate the problem? Should it be downloaded?

If I were in your position I would not rush to download the new update. Presumably it was intended to address the conflict, but if you restored your printer to operating condition and it is now working acceptably, I'd be inclined to let others be the guinea pigs.
Determining the reason for the update will be difficult or impossible. Apple generally provides a brief, though not necessarily complete, list of problems OS X updates are intended to address, but such information is not generally provided for printer driver updates: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398

  • Epson printer software update 2.11 crashing my computer!

    Hi there
Thanks in advance for the help. I have been trying for a few days to download and install the latest software update called "epson printer software update 2.11"
It will not finish installing and ends up crashing my computer. I have OS 10.7.4.
Additionally my Epson Stylus NX420 will not print from my computer. I get an unknown error message. The printer does work however. I can make copies and scan. The Network diagnostics from the printer states that there are no issues.
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem and after untold hours working with Apple & Epson we got to the problem with the Apple software update 2.14.  I was told I had to decide if I wanted my 9900 to work or my office printer (Workforce 610) to work. I was incredulous that I would be forced to make this choice but of course chose to get my 9900 back up and running.  This  fix was given to me 3 weeks ago tomorrow and we still no resolution from Apple / Epson?  Are you kidding me? I am considering throwing my Epson 610 in the trash and buying another brand of office printer so I will have no conflict with my 9900. Seems like a pretty stupid solution I must admit.
I called Epson back again on Friday and got a horrible run-around. The guy from the Pro Graphics group (techs for the professional series printers) insisited I needed to talk to the consumer printers group. Once I got to them it was clear they had no clue about this issue. I left the phone totally frustrated and angry.  I ended up emailing a very capable guy from the Pro Graphics group I had worked with 3 weeks ago and he was nice enough to reply. The answer however was there is still no fix to the Apple update.  At t his point I am not sure how to know if the update has been fixed. The message I get from Epson is just keep checking back. The problem is that it seems few at Epson are aware of the problem so you have to go through a long explanation only to hope  you find someone that is aware.
Nothing like running a printing company and telling your customers you cannot print their invoice because your printer doesn't work!  Thanks Apple for the quick fix on this!

  • Printing problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16

Has anyone experienced any problems after installing the Epson Printer Driver 2.16 through Software Update? I am having problems printing. It denotes an error message, specifically the rastertoescpii.app isn't working?

Oops, wanted everyone to know that the driver that Software Update downloaded and installed was 2.18, not 2.16 (which was the last one that worked for me). I just got done downloading the 2.18 driver directly from the Apple support website and installing it. Guess what? My printer is now working and everything is fine. If you are having issues, I suggest this route. Guess I solved my own problem, but hope this helps someone else.

  • Epson Printer driver disappeared. 10.5.8

    Hi,
I have 10.5.8 and am using an Epson Stylus Color.  Now, when I try to print, all the lights on the printer flash, and I get a message saying there is a problem with the connections.  In the past, I have solved this by opening Sys.Preferences, going to Print & Fax, selecting my Epson printer, hitting the minus sign to delete it and then hitting the plus sign to add it in again.  Actually, hitting the plus sign doesn't result in my printer showing up in a list, so at this point, I just unplug and replug the USB cable for the printer, and try to print again, and it works by using the "default" printer.
Today, that last part didn't help.  I went online to Epson to d/l a printer driver, and they tell me there isn't a separate d/l for that; I must go to apple and get it from the OS d/l.  So, I d/l'd 10/5/8 again, and hoped that with the new d/l, the printer driver would be there and everything would work.  Nope.  It's the same situation as in paragraph 1.
So, I don't know what to do.
I could buy a new printer...but then I wonder if it will work with 10.5.8 AND with a new upgrade I'm contemplating to Lion.
    Can anyone advise me on:
    1) how to get my printer printing again?
    2) If a new printer will be able to work with 10.5.8 and with Lion?
    Thanks

when I try to print, all the lights on the printer flash
That is not normal behaviour. Are you sure the old 740 actually still works?
If you have installed the Gutenprint driver, what actually happens if you select a document and try to print it? Do you get any kind of menu?
Did you read through the PDF manual that came with the driver?
I found this comment on the web but it relates to Tiger, not Leopard:
Setting up the Epson 740 printer is a little tricky under MacOS X 10.4. There are in fact Epson USB as well as Gimp-print (Gutenprint) based drivers for the Epson 740 in Tiger (both of which will work).
The easiest way to set up an Epson 740 print driver is to use the Printer Setup Utility to delete any existing printer queues for that printer. You should then be able to unplug and replug in the USB cable for the Epson 740 and a new printer queue will be automatically created. This method of creating the Epson 740 printer queue will always work.
The creation of the Epson 740 printer manually from within the Printer Setup Utility is more problematic. If you create the printer without using the "More Printers..." button to select the printer driver, the resulting printer queue is broken and will stop the print queue anytime you send a print job to it. If you use the "More Printers..." button to select the Epson USB driver for the Epson 740, the resulting printer queue will work fine.
