Epson Printer stopped printing

For some reason, my Imac 10.8.5 quit communicating with the Epson Artisan 835. I have two printers and rely on the older because it is less expensive to operate. I have tried reinstalling drivers, complete shutdowns, resetting the printers, everything. When I reset the printers, I cannot add the printer except by adding printer Adobe 8.0 pdf which is the only other printer besides my older one. I made sure the correct driver was running and I added it but changed the name to Artisan. I added the Adobe 8.0 choice but that too does not work. I am sure a software update caused this problem. In the past if it wouldn't print, a shut down was all that was needed. The printer states the network is good. The printer and scanner operate well. When I try to print, the icon appears and then disappears.

Open the Sharing pane in System Preferences. If the Computer Name is not set, enter a name. You may first have to click the lock icon in the lower left corner and authenticate to unlock the settings. Then reinstall the EPSON update.

Epson 4880 stopped working after installing ver. 9.17 driver.

I can't help thinking you may need to reinstall Mavericks. Most people (>99%) aren't having these issues! If you count the number of problem posts, then divide by millions, you'll see what I mean.
I'm fairly certain the Gutenprint drivers support your 560 (can't know for sure because you didn't give the whole model name).
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
(feature support in Gutenprint drivers is "different." Some people really like it - others not so much)
For the Epson, (which I have 3 of) it is not possible to pinpoint what the issue is (printer or Mac), until you get it printing.
Part of what Resetting the Printing System does is restart the CUPS daemon, which re-creates the index of where to find each driver. So try Resetting the Printing System:

  • Epson Stylus TX210 stopped working after Epson Printer Drivers 2.1 update.

Hi! I recently bought an Epson Stylus TX210 All-In-One printer. I installed the drivers and software bundled in the included CD and I used it without any problems for 2 days, until the I was prompted to download Epson Printer Drivers 2.1. After the installation, I noticed that whenever I wanted to print anything, the "Print" blue glowing button in the print dialogue won't do anything and no matter how many times I pressed it, it didn't continue the printing process. I've tried everything to solve the issue, but so far anything has worked properly.
    Thing I've done:
-Trashed the EPSON folder in HD\Library\Printers
    -Repaired permissions.
    -Reset printing system.
    -Reinstall the CD drivers.
-Redownload the Epson Printer Drivers 2.1.
    -Delete bundled software.
I've tried every possible combination of the steps above, and so far here's the state of my printed:
-I can print a Test Page directly using Option and Supplies opftion under the Printer and Fax settings.
    -Scanner works.
-The "Print" button is no longer stuck, but every attempt to print fails. The printing status reads: "Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS /rastertoescpll failed"
-I'm printing by connecting the printer directly through the USB port.
Is there anything I can do? I would gladly appreciate any help!
    Thanks in advance!

I would like to inform everyone that I've successfully solved my problem and now my printer works again!
The actual solution this this problem is a combination of various tips on this thread, but finally I found the exact steps and files needed.
1-If you installed drivers from the CD included in the printer, first uninstall them by opening each individual installer on the /Commons/ folder on the CD. After the installer prompts you for the password, select the "uninstall" option on the drop-down menu on the top left section of the window. Make sure you run the uninstall option -if possible- on all installers included on the CD.
2-Trash the HD\Library\Printers\EPSON folder and empty the Trash Can. There's going to be a couple of files being in use and you won't be able to delete them -yet-.
    3-Reboot and disconnect your printer.
4-Empty the Trash Can again. The remaining files should be gone by now.
5-Go to System Preferences/Printer and Fax, right-click on the printer list and reset the printing system.
6-Go to http://www.epson.com.ph/epson/drivers/driver_download.htm?dc=1&mode=3&m=false&ca tid=4&pid=1473 and download the Epson Stylus TX210 Driver for Mac OS X. -Note: I tried multiple versions of the TX210 drivers found online and this particular version was the only one that worked. It's interesting that the this for both the SX210 and TX210, and the installers that only contained the TX210 drivers didn't work-. If for some reason the page changes, the name of the file you're looking for is SX210Series652EMP2.dmg
    7-Run the installer.
8-Connect your printer and go to System Preferences/Printer and Fax. The printer should be recognized and ready to print.
Thanks everybody for all the support!

  • How do i reinstall my system 10.8-Having Epson Printer Issues

I am having a massive problem with an Epson Stylus C88+ printer that used to work with my new iMac Late 2012 computer using System 10.8.4
Recently there was an update V2.5 for this printer. Once I installed the update the printer stopped working.
I now get a Epson Filter Failed error message and have tried everything to resolve it I could find on the internet.
Something in that upgrade killed the printer for me and the only thing I could find that I didn't do was to reinstall my system 10.8.
Does anyone know and easy way to do this which won't cause me too much pain?  Or is there another fix for this issue?
    The printing error message is:
Stopped - 'Filter' failed, 1 page
I tried to rename the computer in the Sharing pref, then went to the Printer and Scan preferences to make sure this is the name I used as well and nothing works.

Open the Sharing pane in System Preferences. If the Computer Name is not set, enter a name. You may first have to click the lock icon in the lower left corner and authenticate to unlock the settings. According to one report, the name must be set to "machd" (without the quotes) in order to get the printer working. After that, you may be able to change the name.
The bug that causes the crash seems to be fixed in the latest version of the Epson printing software.

  • Problem pdf created by Epson Printer.

When I open a pdf created by my Epson printer (WF-7620) I am asked to install an Asian language pack. I do not want to install this pack. How do I stop it?
I have contacted Epson support who told me to contact Adobe as they could not see a way to stop it.

    Here are my findings:
The last two files do not have any "real" text in them, and therefore contain no fonts, which is fine as they're just images.
The first file contains selectable text, probably the result of an OCR process by the Epson software, and has 3 fonts used in it: Times-Roman (Type 1) and two forms of a font called Kozuka Mincho PR6N (TrueType), which is a Japanese font owned by Adobe (http://store2.adobe.com/type/browser/P/P_1812.html).
The usage of these fonts is what causes Reader to ask that you download the Asian language pack (they're probably included in it), so that it could display the text correctly. This doesn't look like an error to me. It's the font specified by the Epson software when it processed the file during the OCR process, and Reader is just respecting that choice, even though there's no real reason to use this specific font.
One possible solution would be to check the settings of your Epson software and see if you can specify the language of the OCR text, or better yet, the actual font used for it. If you can't customize it then you can't really solve this problem unless they change their application (or you install the font pack).
Here's a screenshot of the Fonts tab of the Document Properties for the first file from Acrobat Pro XI:

  • Sending print data..... Epson printing woes

Connected to my Macbook Pro 17" (10.6.2) is my relatively (Important bit) Epson R285 printer. The other day it started to refusing printing full stop. I would send a print job, and get the external 'Sending print data....' and that would be it. I thought I was going mad, I reinstalled the drivers, deleted loads of preferences, ran Onyx a few times and nothing.
At the same time, the 'low ink' light was flashing but like everyone else i just ignored this. I was ready to reinstall the OS and all my apps I was so desperate! I have VMWare Fusion running XP so I thought, worst case I can always print from there. Time to put the new ink in. Since it was a new printer it had those 'test, half-empty/half full cartridges' installed so €45 later, 3 new inks were installed.
On a whim, I tried printing again from 10.6 and low and behold..... it printed! Now this raises a couple of questions:
    1. Why doesn't the print dialogue be more explicit in this situation: Hey 'I am not going to print unless you top me up' Granted there is a 'low ink' light and icon but not a 'bugger off, I'm not gonna print icon'
    2. Is this Epson forcing the user to buy new ink? I always use to print regardless what ink was missing, invariably I just needed to print and could handle an odd colour. Now, low ink means, 'go buy more ink and I shall print!'
Anyway, anybody who has similar 'Sending print data...' print issues with an Epson printer, check you ink as it may just solve your printing problems!
    regards, chris

By any chance are you using the "Gutenprint" driver for your printer? A poster in another thread noted that switching from a Gutenprint driver to a driver from Epson enabled the ink status capability.

  • Epson printer fails with Quicktime

    Hi All,
I have found that my Epson Stylus NX115 printer crashes and will not print while Quicktime is installed. I had this issue on WinXP and upgrading from Qucktime 7.60 to 7.64 fixed the issue. On Vista it has not. I have friends with other models of Epson printers that are having the same issue.
When Quicktime is installed and I try to print, Windows Vista tells me via a popup:
"Spooler SubSystem App has stopped working".
I set my laptop back to factory reset and installed only Quicktime (7.64) and my Epson printer. No change of outcome. I've uninstalled Quicktime and the printer at least 10 times now. It's completely consistent, if Quicktime is installed the printer doesn't work, if it's not then the printer does work.
I've tried to use Process Monitor to figure out what Quicktime might be doing. I've set the QT.exe not to start up with Windows. I've tried changing a lot of attributes on the printer but nothing has worked. It seems to have to do with a change that Quicktime makes at install time. The uninstall of Quicktime fixes whatever it did.
If you have any ideas on a next step please let me know.
    Thanks!

  • Epson Printer driver disappeared. 10.5.8

    Hi,
I have 10.5.8 and am using an Epson Stylus Color.  Now, when I try to print, all the lights on the printer flash, and I get a message saying there is a problem with the connections.  In the past, I have solved this by opening Sys.Preferences, going to Print & Fax, selecting my Epson printer, hitting the minus sign to delete it and then hitting the plus sign to add it in again.  Actually, hitting the plus sign doesn't result in my printer showing up in a list, so at this point, I just unplug and replug the USB cable for the printer, and try to print again, and it works by using the "default" printer.
Today, that last part didn't help.  I went online to Epson to d/l a printer driver, and they tell me there isn't a separate d/l for that; I must go to apple and get it from the OS d/l.  So, I d/l'd 10/5/8 again, and hoped that with the new d/l, the printer driver would be there and everything would work.  Nope.  It's the same situation as in paragraph 1.
So, I don't know what to do.
I could buy a new printer...but then I wonder if it will work with 10.5.8 AND with a new upgrade I'm contemplating to Lion.
    Can anyone advise me on:
    1) how to get my printer printing again?
    2) If a new printer will be able to work with 10.5.8 and with Lion?
    Thanks

when I try to print, all the lights on the printer flash
That is not normal behaviour. Are you sure the old 740 actually still works?
If you have installed the Gutenprint driver, what actually happens if you select a document and try to print it? Do you get any kind of menu?
Did you read through the PDF manual that came with the driver?
I found this comment on the web but it relates to Tiger, not Leopard:
Setting up the Epson 740 printer is a little tricky under MacOS X 10.4. There are in fact Epson USB as well as Gimp-print (Gutenprint) based drivers for the Epson 740 in Tiger (both of which will work).
The easiest way to set up an Epson 740 print driver is to use the Printer Setup Utility to delete any existing printer queues for that printer. You should then be able to unplug and replug in the USB cable for the Epson 740 and a new printer queue will be automatically created. This method of creating the Epson 740 printer queue will always work.
The creation of the Epson 740 printer manually from within the Printer Setup Utility is more problematic. If you create the printer without using the "More Printers..." button to select the printer driver, the resulting printer queue is broken and will stop the print queue anytime you send a print job to it. If you use the "More Printers..." button to select the Epson USB driver for the Epson 740, the resulting printer queue will work fine.

  • Printing to large paper on epson printer

I am trying to print a document from Illustrator. The document size is 13" x 19".
When I load Super A3 paper (13x19) into my Epson printer the printer starts and begins to print but stops about 4 inches down the paper and then ejects the whole sheet (with the remainder of the image not being printed). The epson monitor shows that the document is still processing after the partly printed sheet is ejected. The quality of the partly printed sheet is fine.
I set up print dialogue box from illustrator to the sheet size that I am putting in. Ive tried 3-4 times with the same result.
    I am on a MAC OSX 10.5.8
I seem to have no problems with printing to other standard sheet sizes.
    Any thoughts??

There are a couple of things you can try; 1.) see if you have enough system memory to process the page ( it could be running out of system memory ); 2.) set an invisible holding line to the page / document and lock it ( no stroke, no fill @ 13 x 19 ); 3.)  Use the Page tool ( if you haven't already ) and set it to the document, edge-to-edge.  Also, check you ink supplies, there may be an empty cartridge preventing you from printing the entire file.  Hope this helps.

  • How do I remove Epson Printer Software Update 2.15.1?

I have two Epson Perfection 1670 Scanners. Epson Printer Software Update 2.15.1 installed today on my new MBP, and both scanners immediately stopped working. A hard reboot does not solve the problem. I had the same trouble on two other Macs running OS X 10.7 after similar software updates. The scanners still work on computers without the software updates, and on computers [including a G4 iMac] with earlier versions of OS X.
The symptom is this: I try to import a scan from Preview, and the scanner light starts, but the motor stalls at the start of a scan, and I receive the message 'Scanner is warming up', and then nothing more happens. If I try re-starting the scan, I have a message telling me that the scanner reported an error.
How can the software update be removed, and the previous software be restored? Will Time Machine do it? If so, then what needs changing, please?

    I was told by Epson:
If you have a Time Machine setup and a restore point saved for your computer that is earlier than the day you performed the update, Time Machine should take care of the problem.  It is meant to restore your computer to the way it was at the time of the restore point.  If you have any more detailed questions about time machine, I would suggest contacting Apple support.
Another option is to install an older version of the ICA driver.  If you would rather do this,  reply to this message and let us know so that and we can have the file uploaded and then send you a link to download it.
I opted for the second solution (the previous ICA driver) and they sent "ICA v530".  This too didn't work.
What DID work was manually replacing the current driver (version 5.6) with a version of the driver from my other computer. . . this computer had version 5.11 of the driver.
    To find the driver:
go to Library -> Image Capture -> Devices.  Go to file name EPSON Scanner. THIS is the driver.
"Get Info" will tell you what version you have.
What is interesting/odd is that all my computers are updated by Apple's "Software Update". Yet only one computer (attched to the scanner via USB), had the problematic driver version 5.6.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1800 Installing EPSON printer - error

I bought EPSON printer and set it up as wireless on my two PCs. When I tried adding it to my Mac, it started looking for software, but it's been stuck like that for several hours. When I pressed "cancel" button, it stopped working altogether. Now I can't exit or shut the computer down. This is my first Mac and I'm not familiar with all the commands (like - for PC you can reboot or Ctrl-Alt-Del to get Task Mgr and manipulate programs). I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

you should likely go to epsons site and get the latests driver as anything on any cd shipped with any printer is mostly too old by the time any user buy any printer

  • Communication error with Epson printer SX510W

I am getting a communication error when I try to print on my Epson SX510W  wrieless printer.  How do I correct this? My operating system is OS X Version 10.9.4.
I've tried re-installing the software from the CD-Rom but it won't let me use the Quick Start, It lets me download the print driver and scan driver from the list of software on the disc but that hasn't made any difference.  I think it's a problem with the printer and the IP address, how do I correct this.  How do I find the correct IP address on the printer?
Sometimes if I turn the printer off and on again, it allows me to print just one page and then stops again.
    John Mitchell

Thanks John. I tried deleting the Epson printer folder from the library like you said and then checked for Software Updates. But Apple did not indicate that there were any for my OS (probably because I had installed the latest OS update this morning). So I installed the driver from the Epson site with the printer folder removed. But this did not work because when I tried to print the computer indicated that there were missing files. So, I reinstalled the Epson folder that I had just moved to trash, deleted the new Epson folder, then tried reinstalling the Epson driver with the original folder in place. THIS WORKED! Finally, I am off and printing but with little knowledge gained about the inner workings of my computer.

I have an Epson printer on a Wifi network. Windows 7 desktop is running the network, and my wife's HP Win 7 laptop prints to it just fine. My MacBook Pro running Yosemite won't detect it, and I do have the latest driver installed. I didn't have a problem when I had a Canon Pixma on the network, but when I replaced it with the Epson nothing seems to work. As someone who has to print from my Mac to a networked printer at home all the time, I can certainly understand how frustrating it must be to have that fail to perform as expected. Let's see if we can get you up and running.

  • Can't find printer in epson printer utility

just set up new epson sylus photo r220. works great but can't check ink levels because when i open epson printer utility no printers show up. if i try opening the printer fron the "print & fax" box in system preferences and click on "supply levels" i get a "information not available" box.
    any ideas?

Syd, you only need the GIMP Print driver if your printer doesn't have a driver for Tiger that is available from your printer's manufacturer. If reinstalling the printer's driver from the Cd that came with your Epson doesn't work, then you'll probably have to reinstall the system this time deselecting the GIMP Print driver as an optional install. Then install the Epson driver according to the instructions that came with your printer if the driver isn't already installed by Tiger.
