Epson printer using airport express connect wired to PC

Hi,
I have a problem with my epson printer C41 series.
It is connected using USB to Airport express then wired using ethernet cable to my existing router in order to share to 3 computer (2 PC, 1 PowerbookG4).
Firstly, I used bonjour to detect the printer, and it was working perfect unfortunately under my PowerbookG4. So I unplug the powerbook, just want to use airport as printer server. I ran bonjour again, it detect the printer under my airport, but it doesn't work when printing.
Perhaps you could help my problem.

If you "Join an Existing Wireless Network" the ethernet port on the AX is DISABLED. If you set up a WDS network using the AX to extend the range of your AEBS, the ethernet port will be ENABLED.

10.0.1.5) available for a wired Laptop to connect to
the internet (or even attach a non-wireless internet
web camera)?
Properly configured as a WDS network, the device connected to the AX ethernet port will pull an IP address from the AEBS, just like any other connected device. You can also configure this connected device with a static IP address, outside the range of the dynamic DHCP addresses.
I hope this is not too basic......

Printing to Airport Express connected Laserjet 1012 very slow after update to 10.6.8

After updating a pair of computers that we have here to 10.6.8, printing to our Airport Express connected HP LaserJet 1012 has become incredibly slow. I timed it and it is taking 2:30 to print a blank page, whereas printing the same blank page under 10.6.7 (on an external drive connected to the same MacBook Pro) happens within 2 seconds. One thing that I have noticed is that when I bring up the HP Printer Queue the computer says 'connecting to printer' for 20 - 30 seconds, then sits at 50% complete on the printing for some time - anyone else running into similar problems?

Because I am not experiencing the same issue I have not needed to apply the CNET article. But just to be clear, did you follow the instructions to the letter?
If you did and it's still not working then you can begin narrowing down where the problem is by following some basic trouble shooting steps. First thing I'd try is creating a new user account (call it TEST ACCOUNT) and leave it alone, then try printing from that account. If it works then you know it's a software issue in your normal user account. If it still doesn't work then what I'd do is:
1. Download 10.6.8 Combo Update at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
2. Disconnect all peripherals (including the printer)
3. Backup using both Time Machine and/or a Bootable Clone using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner
4. Restart from the Bootable Clone or the Snow Leopard install discs.
     a) choose language
     b) Click Utililities Menu
     c) Disk Utility
     d) highlight the internal HD and the First Aid tab
     e) Repair Disk Permissions, Verify Disk & Repair Disk.
     f) exit Disk Utility and restart in Safe Mode
5. Install the Combo Update
6. Restart normally and test the system
7. Begin connecting peripherals one by one and testing each.

Trouble extending WiFi using Airport Express over wired connection

We're attempting to improve the wireless connection in an apartment. The original network runs off a current model Airport Extreme. We used a pair of ZyXEL powerline adapters to extend a wired connection to the other end of the apartment, and connected a new Airport Express at the far end. Airport Utility automatically configured the Express to extend the network. Didn't work so well.
A laptop plugged directly into the powerline adapter gets a great connection. When the Express is connected to the powerline adapter (yes, using the WAN port), not only can I no longer connect to the network wirelessly, but even turning WiFi off and plugging a Cat5 cable into the LAN port on the Express results in a connection that's either nonexistent or so slow as to be nonfunctional. The laptop does pull an IP address when hardwired.
Has anyone had any luck with this type of arrangement?

When you say that AirPort Utility automatically configured the Express to extend the network......you did not specify whether the Express was set up to "extend wirelessly" or "extend using Ethernet".
There is a huge difference here, and if for some reason the Express was first configured to extend the network wirelessly......and then the Ethernet connection was made......that will set up a feedback loop that will effectively crash the network....rendering the Express virtually useless. Sound familiar?
Suggest that you start over and follow our step by step instructions. We assume that you are using a 6.x version of AirPort utility.....or....that you will be using an iPhone or iPad for the setup. Would that be correct? We also assume that you have a spare Ethernet cable on hand......any length will do, the longer the better.
Post back when you are ready to get things set up.

How can I get my Canon MF8350CDN to print using Airport Express USB on Lion?

I just installed a new airport express with USB to my MF8350CDN. When I add the printer, it sees the printer, loads the UFRII driver (from my download from canon) and opens a print que. However I try to print a test page it gives me "cmjcInitialize Error" , printer is offline, canon CMFP printer driver, check power and connection. I print from the PC without a problem but I had to connect using IP printing to the airport's IP address. Is there something that I am missing during the installation?

I have not personally tested a USB External Printer server for some time. I would like to look into your IOGEAR Print Server, can you send the model number of the IO Gear PrinterNum?

Use Airport Express as wired assess point

Is it possible to use the Airport Express as a wired ethernet access point?
I would like to use it as a receiver from my wireless network, allowing to connect my computer via ethernet cable to the airport express (computer from my employer does not allow wireless and I don't want to sit always next to my modem...).
I already have two airport express stations for my music streaming.

Yes you can use an ethernet cable to connect to the Airport Express when it is setup as a wireless access point.
I have an Airport Extreme base station in a back room and an Airport Express in the front room by my XP HTPC. The Expess is an set as an access point and the XP computer is hooked to it via a Cat5 cable. My other computers are wireless and I have no problems connecting to the XP wired machine.
You will need to enable WDS on the Extreme Base Station and you will need to enable the ethernet port on the Express after you set it up as an access point.
I'm a Mac newbie but I hope this answers your questions.

Can't print to Canon's Card Printer using Airport Express

Airport can see and select my Canon CP200 printer in the admin utility, but I can't print.
Also have a Canon i900 InkJet printer that prints no problem.
Is there any known compatablity problems printing to these types Card Printers?
Does anyone have any solutions to offer?
PS I have my airport express wireless features all turned off.

Contacted Canon on this and they responded that the Card Printers can not be used on a network.
They didn't specify why.

Windows can't print to Airport Express connected printer

installed new Airport Express replacing an old Linksys wireless router. Have a mix of Windoze and Mac clients that need to connect to shared (USB Connected) printer, supported off the AE router.
All Mac clients are able to see, connect to, and print to the USB attached MFC 440CN Brother printer.
The Windows devices cannot connect to, see, or utilize the same printer.
Any thoughts on what setting I might have Ito change in order to correct this problem?

the way printers connected to airport express works is that the computer install a special driver for the printer connected on the usb of the express
this not being an option on iso devices
apple made airprint so devices which supported the std would be able to print from any ios device
it's an open std which as far as I know apple don't charge anybody for supporting
the alternative is apple adding drivers to all known printers from osx to ios and that is not plausible for storage space and testing of the drivers

Trouble Printing using Airport Express: "Can't Create PDFDocumentRef"

I just moved my printer (an HP all-in-one) from my Mac Mini to my Airport Express, and now I receive the following error message every time I try to print:
"can't create PDFDocumentRef for `/private/var/spool/cups/d00891-001'"
Any ideas what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Try resetting the printing system.
Reset Printing System
Ping printer: If you have the printers IP address open Terminal applications/Utilities and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure.
Have you shut down and restarted the printer? Hook it up directly to make sure it is working.

Windows laptop won't connect to internet using airport express connection

Hi. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I set up airport express on my imac g5 so I could share the internet with my windows laptop. I have a wireless notecard plugged into my laptop (802.11gg)--the laptop recognizes a wireless network with my imac no problem. I'm able to access the internet with my imac, but my laptop can't. I have a cable modem with the ethernet cable attached to airport express. I set up the wireless network using wep. Am I missing something? Please help! Thanks!

I had a similar issue this morning. My problem was my password. Apple will allow short passwords with wep encryption. Other manufacturer's don't.
"The multiplatform issue
Being an older protocol, WEP password treatment was not implemented uniformly by all wireless hardware and operating system manufacturers. Some products require users to enter relatively cryptic hexadecimal characters (four bits each), while others allow "plain language" password entry. A plain language password, like "apple", uses standard ASCII characters that are 8 bits each.
Products that allow plain language (ASCII) password entry may not force the network administrator to create 5- or 13-character passwords that would result in the required 40 (5*8) and 104 (13*8) bit-length passwords. Instead, they use a "hashing" routine to convert an odd-length password to the correct bit length. The multiplatform issue arises when the hashing results of products from two different manufacturers don't match each other. The resulting "network equivalent passwords," which are always given in hexadecimal format, are different."
In my case I made the password 13 characters long and everything works fine now.

Printer won't print using airport express

I have an HP 2210 all in one printer that prints fine with my macbook when plugged directly into it via USB cable.
I have an Airport Express and when I tried to print, the job stops on its own and nothing prints.
Our only computer is our macbook, and we only have the Airport Express.
Any advice on how to print wireless would be very much appreciated.

Printing to airport express from multiple imacs

I have two Intel based iMacs that share a Canon ip4300 printer via Airport Express (connected to the USB port on the airport Express). One of the iMacs prints perfectly and very fast. The second (and closer unit to the AE) prints extremely slow and can take an hour to print one photo. I disconnected the AE and plugged the USB directly into the second iMac and it too prints perfectly and very fast. So it seems to be something to do with the WiFi connection between the second iMac and the AE that is causing the problem. I have downloaded new firmware for the AE and drivers for the printer. I have reconfigured that AE from scratch. What should I do?

When you say that you installed the "drivers" for your Dell laptop, does this mean that you also installed Bonjour for Windows, which is on the CD that came with the AirPort Express?

I can't print wirelessly using Airport Express. I have my HP printer connected to a USB hub, and the hub to the Airport Express, but when I select the HP from the printer list, my MacBook says the printer is "off-line" - even when it is not.

I cannot print from my iPad using airport express. My printer is not AirPrint compatible but is connected to airport express thru USB port. My laptop can print with no problem thru the express unit. My lap top is no a mac.

I have read about different software that you can download but this seems to be only if you are using a mac. I know my express is working fine as I can use airplay thru my iPad. Any ideas? I do not want to go to the expense of changing my printer, when there was no mention in the express details that your printer had to be AirPrint compatible or indeed wireless.
