Epson Pro 3800 driver now installs on Leopard ...

FYI I just re-download the 3800 driver from Epson and installed it. The printer now finds the driver fine and printing to 3800 works as before.

I have the same problem with my Epson Stylus Pro 3800 and Leopard. - basic printing but no real functionality. Not what I would expect for a printer in this price range. From what I can gather, Epson has no intention of upgrading the driver for this particular printer. Check out their website, and read the fine print. http://www.epson.ca/cgi-bin/ceStore/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid =79928&prodoid=60075552&infoType=Downloads&platform=Macintosh
The only option I can find is to revert to Tiger, which the Epson driver supports fully. If you find some other solution, please let us know.
Andy.

  • Installing most recent print driver for Epson Pro 3800

I like to make sure that I use the most recent print driver for my Epson Pro 3800.
So I downloaded the driver "epson 328233 eu.dmg" and it shows up in "Finder downloads"
    * I assume that this driver is the most recent one?
I have no idea how to continue to replace the existing driver and how to install the latest driver?
    * Do I have to remove the present driver? If so: how do I find the old driver and how do I remove this driver?
    * Thereafter in what way do I install the new driver?
I am far from a software specialist and I recently switched from PC to iMac which is still troubling me!
    Thank you for helping me!

    Dear Sig,
Thank you for your answer which solved my problem.
I had the imprerssion that in Mac some downloads are installed automatically and some are not?
But this might be a wrong observation and is installing always necessary?

  • Epson Pro 3800

I know this is probably an Epson issue, not an Apple one, but two great companies really do need to work together, and this site offers the best support. So, is there anyone out there who is as frustrated as I am trying to print on an Epson Pro 3800 using Leopard on a Mac Pro? The printer driver works just fine on a MacBook Pro operating on Tiger, but the Leopard driver that Epson has provided just isn't up to the job. I'm looking at either turfing the printer, or downgrading the Mac Pro to Tiger, and neither option appeals to me. Any other options, anyone?

    Hello,
Can you confirm what is the Epson driver version that you use?
Version 3.x is originaly designed for 10.4.
For 10.5 (and also 10.4), it is better to use a version 6.x.
You can download this version from European web sites:

Let us know if it works bettre with this driver release.

  • Strange colors when printing (lightroom & epson pro 3800)

After buying a new computer I'm having printing problems in lightroom.
Printing with other software (photoshop for example) works flawless.
I've used new and old drivers for my printer: didn't change a thing
I've looked at different printing profiles, custom or letting the printer handle it: hardly any improvement
The problems appairs with lightroom 2.4 64bit installed on a windows vista 64bit version.
The printer I'm using is a epson pro 3800. Normally i would say it's a driver problem.. (on my old computer (xp 32bit) it's works fine) but the problem only appairs in lightroom. And i used a few drivers. I must be missing a setting or something.
    Does anybody have an idea?
You can look at the attachment to see the problem i'm having.
    Thanks in advance

I am also suffering with the light room print module.
My Eizo monitor is calibrated with a Gretag Macbeth i1Pro.
My printer profiles are paper and ink specific.
In CS3 my working color space is Adobe RGB(1998) and my prints are a perfect match to the monitor appearance on both an Epson Photo 2200 as well as an HP Pro B9180.
I understand that there is no soft proofing option in LR 2, but is there any work around to change the working color space in LR to Adobe RGB(1998) and get a decent print without kicking the image over to CS3 first? Since both products are from Adobe, I don't understand why they should be working at cross purposes.
I went to Photo Expo in NYC today, but unfortunately Adobe did not take their usual booth at the Javits Center so that I might address the question to an Adobe specialist.
    Thanks

  • IMac G4 compatibility with Epson Pro 3800

recently put downpayment on Epson Pro 3800 printer, all advertising said it will work with os 10.4.x, but on further buried research, they "recommended" a G5, or intell etc.
will this Epson work on my iMac G4

I don't have an E P 3800, but I see system requirements: Mac or PC on the web page. I have never seen a printer from a major manufacturer not work on a G4 if it works with any PPC.

  • LR 1.3 using Epson Pro 3800 anyone?

I haven't tried printing yet, but the current driver from Epson for the 3800 doesn't indicate the paper profile specified in LR when printing. This may be an Epson driver issue with Leopard. Anyone?

    kevinzdyb,
You've chosen a fantastic printer. I love mine; however, it's a little 'high strung' and you have to use it precisely.
First of all, make sure you have an updated driver if you're on a mac with Leopard. Driver from the Epson UK web site version 6.10.
Use paper profiles from PS and LR when printing.
Select 2800 DPI when printing color and 1400 DPI for B&W.
Turn off finest detail and high speed and chose No Color Adjustments
For B&W - check out this web site!!:
    http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/dp/Epson3800/index.html
Choose his B&W profile in the software, but choose Advanced Black & White in the 3800 driver. This will result in the 3800 using ONLY black inks and the profile will cause the print to match what you see on the screen, assuming you've profiled your monitor.
Also, only use the front tray for very thick paper - I never use it
Make sure the paper is really flat, to avoid head strikes, and manually set the thickness in the driver, when using non-Epson papers. I use the rear manual feed for fine art paper.
My favorite for color is Hahnemule Fine Art Pearl.
    Good luck.

  • Mac Pro optical drive hardware is causing Leopard to hang on startup

I had installed Leopard on a new internal drive with a clean install. However, everytime I tried to boot, it hanged on the blue screen or took me to the Leopard desktop where it froze.
I called Apple and through the process of elimination they asked to to disconnect my two optical drives...the first is a Sony NEC Optiarc DVD RS AD-7170A that came with the computer. The second is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-112. After separating the ribbon cable that connects both drives, I was able to successfully boot into Leopard with no problems. That said, Apple regarded my issue as now a hardware issue rather than a software issue...and said I should take the Mac Pro into the local store for repair.
I've tested each of the optical drives individually to see if by hooking them up one by one to see if one will allow the system to boot. But neither one allows me to boot into Leopard successfully. Apple also says that the ribbon cable could also be a possible reason as well.
Before I make the trek to the store, does anyone out there have any similar stories to share with their Mac Pro? I have NOT updated to the latest firmware for the Mac Pro which is EFI 1.2 and I may try that as a last resort. Also, I tried to find any Superdrive firmware updates for the Mac Pro's Sony Optiarc drive on Apple's website, but could not locate any.
Let me know if anyone out there has some info to share on this.
    Thanks,
    John

Thanks for the reply, but I took it to the apple store today and they ran a full diagnostic test on it. It turns out it really wasn't the optical drive. There was a bad sensor on the logic board causing the power supply fan to run at full blast. Looks like im gonna have to wait even longer to be able to enjoy my mac pro:(

  • Epson R2880 printer driver problems with Snow Leopard

I’m running 10.6.4 on a new Mac mini and I’m trying to print to a new Epson R2880. If I let the system choose the printer driver in the print and fax utility, I get a sort of generic print dialogue box without many options, but it prints. If I go into the print and fax utility and manually choose the driver, I get a different print dialog box with all the appropriate print options. I checked and it matches the screen shots for this printer that are posted on the Epson site, so I feel sure this the correct driver. However, when I try to print with this driver, I get this error message. Error:/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents /MacOS/rastertoescpll failed.
This seems to be a common problem with Snow Leopard and the R2880 Epson printers, and it seems that most people are able to solve it by deleting the printer from the printer queue and resetting the printer queue. But that hasn’t solved my problem.
    Here’s what I’ve done:
Manually deleted the Epson folder from the hard drive and trashed it, repaired disk permissions, uninstalled the Epson driver, updated software, downloaded and installed the Apple/Epson driver, deleted the printer from the print queue, and reset the printer queue. I’ve done all of these things several times over. And still I get the same error message every time I try to print from the driver with the print options. Does anyone have any other suggestions for a fix?

Some of the previous users had success when they restarted after deleting the /Library/Printers/EPSON and /Library/Caches/Epson folders. You might also try deleting the /Library/Cache folder. There is a solution posted from someone at Epson:

    Substitute 2880 for RX580:
Make sure that you have completely removed the Stylus Photo RX580 driver, then install the new driver from System Update:
    1. Power off the printer
    2. Open System Pref. and Print/Fax
    3. Highlight the RX580 printer
    4. Click on the ""-"" sign
    5. Close Print and Fax
    6. Open your Mac's Hard Drive
    7. Open the Library Folder
    8. Open Printer and delete the EPSON Folder
    9. Open the PPDs folder find the Epson Stylus Photo RX580.gz and delete the file
    10. Close the PPD and the Printer folder
->11. In the Library folder, open the Caches Folder
    ->12. Delete the Epson folder
    ->13. Restart the Mac
    14. Power on the printer
    15. Click on the Apple Icon and System Update
    16. Follow the directions to install the new driver
    Hope this helps.

  • Old internal Macbook Pro hard drive (now in enclosure) is partially read in Disc Utility, but not in Finder or Diskwarrior - I need those files!

Recently I totalled my old Macbook Pro with a glass of red wine. Fortunately, whilst the guys at the mac store said that almost every component was totally screwed - the HD seemed okay. On their advice I purchased an enclosure, carefully removed and installed the old HD, booted up my new Macbook Pro...
Upon plugging in the drive (via USB) I receive the following message - "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" and the options "Initialize, Ignore, Eject". The drive is, obviously, not read by Finder but upon clicking initialize I get this from Disk Utility.
All options are 'greyed out' - there doesn't seem to be anything that I can do to retrieve the information at this juncture - so I downloaded Diskwarrior but to no avail. It doesn't seem to recognise the existance of the drive at all.
A few things I will try today: Powering the enclosure externally (it's currently running off the USB), Purchasing a different enclosure.
Another issue is that I'm not made of money and I've already forked out £100 for enclosure/Diskwarrior. I am not madly keen on blowing the same amount again to get an engineer to come and shrug at it. Or worse, pay £1 per GB for data retrieval!
Does anyone have any ideas/advice about this at all?

File recovery software: Try using an application such as Data Rescue 3 - http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php or FileSalvage - http://subrosasoft.com, or one of the ones listed in the link below. Some have free trial versions that let you see if the software will help before you decide to buy. You will also need a second hard drive equal to or larger in size than your first drive as a destination drive for recovered files.

  • Can't find Epson 9900 printer driver after installation.

After installing the printer driver for my epson 9900 printer, it doesn't show up in the printer dialogue box in system preferences. When I try printing from Photoshop it also doesn't show up in selecting a printer. I am upgrading from a previous 9900 printer driver. I trashed the old printer driver. After installing the new printer driver, I restarted my iMac. But still it doesn't show up.

  • Epson 3800 driver options to disable or enable driver rendering disabled

Trying to print from LR 5.3 RC using .icc profile ... in printer settings in
Epson Pro 3800 driver the Color Settings and Color drop downs are disabled????  In other applications these options are enabled and selectable.

I don't know if this video will help you but about half way through it tells how's and why's using color profiles in Photoshop, which I imagine are similar to Lightroom, in order to make the most accurate prints. This is the better route to go as opposed to allowing the printer to interpret the colors.

After viewing the video myself, what I gather is that you should have Lightoom manage the color settings, and the printer manage the paper settings. If you do it this way, then the printer cannot also manage the color settings, so they will be purposely disabled (grayed out in the dialog box), as you cannot have two drivers giving the printer direction. The video goes really in-depth.
    Hope this helps.

I can't print from my  27" late 2013 iMac.  I am using an epson stylus 3800 pro.  I updated driver and added printer in system preferences. When i print the printer queue opens and shows the job as "stopped".  Supply level shows  "information is not available which maybe part of problem...thank you

The first thing you could try is a reset of the printing system. Please note that this action will remove all printers and scanners from the Printers & Scanners preference pane.
With the reset complete, unplug the Epson USB cable from the Mac for a minute and then reconnect it. This action should result in the printer being added again to the Mac automatically. If this does happen, then see if you can print again.
If the printer is not added again automatically, open Printers & Scanners and click the plus button to add the Epson. Once this is done, then see if you can print again.
