Epson R1900 Print Problem - Image shift/Cropping

When Printing 13x19 files in Photoshop, the image always prints centered in an 8.5 x 11 area at the lower right corner of the page as it comes out of the printer. The image is cropped into this letter sized area at its correct size and is not scaled. My best guess is that the printer is thinning the paper size is set to LETTER, not Super B. I have checked all the settings multiple times but see no place where the paper is not set correctly or that the printer is not set to Epson R1900 (i.e. it is not set to "Any Printer"). I have had this printer for several years (and have been using Macs & Epson printers professionally for 20 years), and it has worked properly in the past with this sized image. I have not needed to print this size image for a while so not sure what might have changed in the mean time.
This ONLY happens in Photoshop (CC and CS5 tested). It will print correct from InDesign and Illustrator, but the color is shifting too much. I have always gotten my best color when printing directly from Photoshop and this particular project requires accurate color.
Happens on 2 different computers (newer iMac and older MacBook Pro) and on different photoshop files. Drivers are currently up to date according to Apple's Software update.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

To further clarify, the dialog box that I refer to DOES come up if the printer chosen is the $100 HP printer I have for office

should be for the Epson.
This dialog box is definitely shown in the User Guide of the Epson printer????

  • Epson R1900 Printer Installed with Airport but not printing

I just installed my new Epson R1900 Printer and it says that it is online and recognized but when I send something to print it comes up in the queue and then disappears and doesn't print. The printer isn't idle or anything like that though, it still says ready.

I am guessing that using the card reader function also falls into the category of "advanced features" of the printer. I could not find a way to read my CF when plugged in to my Epson Stylus CX6000.
To solve the problem, I actually did unplug it from the Time Capsule and used it directly, only to reconnect it with the TC when I was done. Not convenient at all. Any word on whether Apple is working on this, or not? Or any other solutions?
In researching this issue through the Apple pages, I found that initially the Airport did not support a USB hub (single printer only), but now a powered USB hub is supported. A good sign that things do change for the better.

  • Lightroom 5.7, Epson 820 printer. dark images

I am using Lightroom 5.7 and Epson 820 printer.  i have calibrated my monitors using spider3, no printer ICC and using multiple different ICCs in lightroom and all the same result.   All my images are dark and washed out.  Need help.  If I export my images and print from MS photo viewer they look pretty good.

As to my printer drivers, after installing Snow Leopard, I was unable to print using LR2.5. The print would fail generating an error. I then installed the new drivers from the Epson web site: epson13113.dmg for my Epson R2400. This "worked" in that it did not generate an error, but would just transmit to printer and then quit.
Up to that point I had done a minimum of web reading, I just had seen that Matt K. from Kelby and others had been using SN and LR2 successfully. With my two failures, I googled extensively. I deleted all my printers, downloaded the new 10/22 Apple Epson drivers, re-ran the Epson drivers, etc, etc, etc, stopping and restarting along the way until I was able to obtain CS4 prints using SL with my Epson R2400.
At that point, I returned to my initial objective, which was to obtain (re-obtain, if you will as I previously had them) quality prints from LR. The early prints were harsh and less than acceptable, and when I got the "Sun in the dark" picture that I could quantify, I knew I had a definite issue and posted to this forum.
(I am assuming that my deletion of the profiles while seeking to update driver is how I generated my initial inconsistency that was part of my original post).
I now looks like I had a color space problem. I have deleted and re-generated the psd "Edit in Photoshop" image. Again, on the screen, the edit and the original appear identical and as the CS4 print is correct, I am left, it appears to me, with a LR2.5 printing issue unless I can find some configuration issue. The two pictures are definitely different with the flesh tone pink and some of the background colors "lighter" in the LR2 print.
(As a side, I don't think this would matter, the original pics were taken as raw nef from a D700 camera using a 105mm VR2 macro lens).
    Thanks for your time.

  • Epson R1900 prints look awful

    I'm printing from a MacBook Pro. 2008
Printed images on my high end Epson R1900 look awful.
Printed out of photoshop they don't resemble what's on screen in the slightest.
Printed out of indesign they are much better but still random.
    Every program prints differently.
Snapseed prints better results than most.
Why the inconsistency? I'm wasting so much paper and ink trying to get something that should be simple right.
    Any ideas?
    thanks

There were a lot of reports of "double profiling" with Epson printers when Photoshop CS5 was first released.  I believe many people were seeing magenta-looking prints at that time.
Unfortunately, I don't think there was ever a resolution or even a good workaround...  I recall at least one person bought a new printer to be able to continue to work.
Of course, double check to see whether Epson has released any updated printer drivers.
As I don't have an Epson myself, I can only suggest that you'll want to experiment with your settings to see if you can find a way to disable color management in the printer driver, so that only Photoshop does it - or disable color-management in Photoshop so that only the printer driver will do it.

  • CS 3 Epson R2400 printing problem

After recently migrating from Tiger to Leopard I reinstalled the driver software for my Epson R2400, and have been having CS3 printing problems ever since.
The project I'm doing print work from involves CMYK versions of greyscale photos and a spot color (Pantone 200PC, also tried Trumatch 5-a2).
If I try to print from InDesign, or from Acrobat using an InDesign "press quality" pdf, everything's 'thin'. The greyscale photos are a bit washed out, and the spot color is pink rather than rich red.
If I export a jpg from InDesign and print from Photoshop the quality is acceptable
If I export a jpg from InDesign and print from Lightroom the quality is acceptable
    InDesign's color settings are-
    RGB: sRGB
    CMYK: Sheetfed Coated V2
    Can anyone help? Many thanks.

If you have a computer that runs Tiger you should stick with Tiger. CS3 was written under Tiger and seems to work best in Tiger. Use the backup of your system drive you made before upgraded to leopard as you can't go back with an Archive and install. The bells and whistles in Leopard are not worth the stability Tiger offers.

  • Epson r1900 Prints too dark after upgrading to cs5 from cs3

Ok this one has got me stumped.  While still in photoshop CS3 my epson r1900 was printing photo's just fine.  After upgrading cs3 to Photoshop cs5  it now prints everything too blue.  Nothing else has changed. My monitor is still calibrated, my printer paper profiles are still the same, the only change was upgrading to cs5.  To me it looks all the world like ICM is being applied twice (in photoshop and the printer) but in photoshop I have selected "photoshop manages colors" just like I did in cs3, and in the print dialog box for the printer, I have selected no ICM again just like I did in CS3.  But now the prints come out with a, to my eye, dark blue tint.  Very very frusterating.  I have deleted the color prefs file and let that recreate, but that did not help either.  I am out of tricks.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Patrick

  • Printing Problems - FH11 - shifted color values

    I am printing on a non-PostScirpt, ink-jet printer (LexMark
X6190). When I print a document, with various combinations of text
and photos, the colors on the header change. On a correct page, the
header would be a medium wine red. But, on page with a photo
(imported JPEG) the header color will shift to more of a light
brown. And, occasionally, on pages with just text, the header color
shifts to more of a pinkish value. Text colors (dark blue) do not
    shift from page to page.
It "feels" like a color calibration problem, and that
specifically in the red zone. And, LexMark Customer Service (after
running some tests) assured us it is not a printer/hardware
    problem.
    Any thoughts, suggestions...
    Thanks

Does your document contains a mix of RGB and CMYK colors. Are
    all of your
images, text and vector objects using the same color space?
Does the printer use RGB or CMYK input? What does the printer
    documentation
    recommend?
What are your FH color management settings?
When in the Print dialog, does the printer driver offer any
    color
adjustments? If so, have you used any of them?

  • CS4 and EPSON R2880 Printing Problems

I am having a very difficult time getting color matched prints with CS4 and my R2880 Epson printer. I had no issues with CS3. I have tried every combination available to me and I get very drab almost browinsh prints. I have the latest drivers and also have upgraded to Vista, no change there at all. I am using the proper ICC profiles as well. Anyone else with similar problems? Any solutions? It is very frustrating. Thanks, Bob

I have an Epson R280 on my desk and just did a test printing the same image with CS4/Vista64, CS4/XP, and again with CS3/XP. All three prints used the Epson supplied paper profile and the colour management settings were all set the same.
    The results are identical.
    I suspect there's a wrong setting somewhere:
    - wrong profile being used
    - not disabling printer colour management
    - wrong paper setting or printing on the wrong side of the paper
I can't imagine why the results would be any different from one version of PS to another.

  • Epson R1900 printer & Snow Leopard

I have always had superb results with the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 (A3), until I installed Snow Leopard - now I cannot get a decent photograph no matter how much I tinker with the settings. I am using the recommended driver.
    Snow Leopard? S'no use!!

I had exactly this problem with Snow Leopard and my 2400, the first thing to know is that you must not use the gluten print driver it's crap. The following worked for me and my printer is now working fine :-
    1. Close any applications that are open.
    2. Click on the Apple icon and choose System Preferences. Choose "Print & Fax".
    3. Highlight the Epson printer in the list and click the delete button [-].
    4. If no other printers are installed, in Print and Fax please hold down the Control key and then in the list if printers, click and hold. That should present the "Reset printing system..." menu. Choose this option and confirm.
    5. Disconnect the printer from the computer.
    6. We will now remove the EPSON Printer driver from the system and delete the drivers that you downloaded.
Go to the Mac Hard Drive/Library/Printer and move the complete EPSON folder to the trash. Warning this removes all EPSON Printers.
    7. Also remove any drivers that were previously downloaded to the trash if the file name does not match that from our web site.
    8. Restart the Mac.
    9. Empty the trash.
    10. Now we will run a repair utility that may take up to 30 minutes to complete so please plan for this. Go to Mac Hard Drive/Applications/Utilities and open the Disk Utility. Note: If you cannot find it this way, use Spotlight to locate it.
    11. Select Disk First Aid at the top of the dialog box.
    12. Select the Mac Hard Drive Icon in the left hand pane.
    13. Select Repair Permissions at the bottom of the dialog box.
    14. When this has completed restart the Mac.
Power the printer on and connect it to the Mac. Ensure that it is directly connected to a port (such as a USB port) on the Mac and not via a third party device such as a USB hub.
You will now need to download the driver/s from the Epson website. Connect to the Epson website via the link below:
    http://esupport.epson-europe.com/FileDetails.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=zbff+oTjl0EHnix fShyxIHWVn0U002FZyJp6TQAu9H3pjHIU003D&id=324505
Download the printer driver for your printer and ensure this starts in the Download Manager you will need the driver 6.62. Try the following to install and add the driver:
    1. Locate the downloaded file and double-click it. This should mount a drive on the Desktop. Double-click this and a window should appear with a blue VISE icon. This is the printer driver installer, double-click this icon.
    2. Follow the on screen prompts to install the driver, restarting the Mac once the installation has been completed.
    3. Once restarted the driver needs adding to the printer list. To do this click on the Apple icon then System Preferences. Choose "Print & Fax" and ensure it is set on "Printing". If the gutenprint driver is listed here, highlight it then choose the delete option (this can normally be done by clicking the [-] minus sign.
    4. Normally, USB printers will add themselves automatically. Check the list for your printer. If listed, highlight the printer and the driver information will appear on the right. Under "Kind" the printer name should be listed, i.e. Epson SP R2400 Series with a version in brackets. If a gutenprint driver is listed or the 'Kind' indicates a different printer model delete this driver.
    5. If the Epson driver is not listed, click the add icon button [+] towards the bottom-left of the window. The window that will appear first will be the Printer Browser. Connected printers with a valid driver installed should appear, highlight it and click the "Add" button. Do not choose a different model from the list of printers that may be present. If 'Add' is greyed out, leave the browser open for 10 minutes and ensure that the printer is powered on and connected directly to the Mac. Do not connect it via a third party device such as a USB hub or hub in a keyboard.
    6. The printer should now be added to the printer list. Test the printer with a Nozzle Check so ensure paper is loaded. In Print & Fax, double-click the printer name and choose "Utility" from the top of the window that appears. In the Epson Printer Utility, select to print a 'Nozzle Check'.
This is taken direct from Epson support and worked for me
    Good luck

  • CS3, Mac OS 10.5.5, Epson 3800 Printing Problems (v6.11)

Since recently migrating to MacIntel running an obligatory 10.5.5 , I've been encountering problems printing to my Epson 3800 of 2 kinds that had previously not arisen on PPC based Macs using 10.4+: 1) When switching media that requires a change of black ink (photo black to matte or vice versa) there does not seem to be a straightforward way to go about this without encountering glitches (previously this had been handled smoothly by the driver); 2) The driver indicates randomly that my paper feed parameters are incorrect for a given job, when in fact this is not the case, and this makes printing needlessly irksome and inefficient. This is a marvelous printer that I've been using for the past 15 months so I'd appreciate any suggestions that would allow me to remedy these problems.

    Dear Ralph,
Thank you for replying to my post.
It does not seem that I will solve my problem by localisation "rectification". I am in an all International environment. Hmm.
Do you use InDesign CS3 in a totally colour managed environment?
I just got a Colour Profile done for my Intel Mac machine from InDesign and it is 'less than perfect'. Very frustrating.
This colour expert suggests I set up my work flow as follows:
[Well if I was allowed to include snapshots of my screen they would appear here.]
The Printer Profile I am using in the Colour Management dialogue box is the profile provide by the Colour Expert.
How do you set things up please?
I had, in fact still have, an Epson 3000 that the Colour Expert profiled and gave me phenomenal colour accuracy up until OS 10.5.5 when the Epson driver became non-operational. I am so disappointed that I am having so much difficulty with the 3800.
I think there are Adobe v. Mac issues plus driver problems!!!
If you can shed any light on this, I would welcome it.
    Thanks.

  • Epson CX78000 printing problem

Running OS 10.4.10 on !7 inch GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Printer has been operating successfully when using G4 iMac (OX 10.4.10)+ USB. Switch to new iMac (also with USB) results in continuous printing of only blank sheets. When I switch back to the G4 no problem. Current drivers obtained from Epson website are loaded as the Epson CD does not work with Intel-Mac. I believe I've made all of the correct printer selections, with one step that I can't resolve. In the printer utility the CX7800 is selected, location is my computer but there is no CX7800 in the Epson list for Print Using. I've tried using Stylus CX6600 and CX8300 (both with the additional notation of Gimp-Print v 5.0.-beta 2) to no avail. In the G4 print utility the Print Using CX7800 had the designation of Series 1. I hope this description of the problem is clear. I've tried contacting Epson but so far no help. Any help would be appreciated.

    So, here's the latest:
I followed the Epson instructions (again).
I then loaded a plan sheet of paper in rear manual feed, opened Photoshop/CS5, clicked print, and the paper printed.
Since I'm trying to have some paper profiles created and am using CS5, I needed to print some targets via the rear manual feed and using the Adobe Color Printer Utility. When I tried to print using the Utility I again got the raster error.
Then, I tried to print via the rear manual feed and using Lightroom 3; once or twice I got the printer/software-paper-sources-don't-match message, and the other 5 times I got the raster error message.  Tried again in CS5 and got the raster error.
The oddity, however, is that I can print via the paper tray in LR3; and if I'm just printing a web page or, presumably, not going through an Adobe product I can print (this is not to say that I know Adboe is the problem; just that this is what has happened so far).
One good thing is that I had the Epson tech on the phone and gave him access to my desktop; so, now I'm not just some luddite who can't follow simple directions. So, the issue will be escalated (this means WAR!)

  • Epson 925 printer problem

Suddenly, I can no longer print playlists for CD jewelcase inserts from iTunes. I've been printing these with no problem for months and yesterday for the first time, when I select 'print' from the file menuj I get a message saying, " printing of jobs for this printer is stopped."
The printer is also connected to a PC and prints files sent from the PC just fine.
I've tried printing from other Mac applications -- no luck.
I've tried reconnecting USB cords and other easy diagnostics with no success.
When I start my Mac two error messages appear:
    1. system/library/extensions/epsonusbstorageclass10.kext/contents/plugins/epsonusb pcrndeviceclass.kext was installed improperly.
    2. system/library/extensions/epsonusbstorageclass10.kext/contents/plugins/epsonsub pcrwdeviceclass.kext installed improperly.
Are these error messages related to no longer being able to print from the Mac? Any help anyone can offer would be much appreciated.

    Thanks John.
I did shoot Epson an email shortly after posting to this forum. I've not heard back from them yet.
    Hope they can help.

  • AirPort Extreme (802.11n) & Epson CX3100 Printer Problem

I recently purchased the new AirPort Extreme 802.11n and tried hooking up my Epson Stylus CX3100 to it. It detects the printer but it only prints the first few lines then stops. I check the status window of the printer and I see no error message whatsoever. I have to turn off the printer to force the paper out. The printer prints fine when connected directly to the iMac.
I was using the Gimp printer driver found in my iMac. Since that didin't work, I tried installing the new Intel drivers from Epson. But when I try adding it to me AEBS using the official driver, I get an Error: -9672 message.
I've already updated my AEBS's firmware to 7.1 before I tested the printer, so I'm not sure if it's a firmware issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your iMac isn't receiving an IP address at all - the 169.254.x.x is "self-assigned" and indicates it is not receiving the IP address from any router. That won't work.
I'm not sure what you intend to do with the Express so leave it unplugged for now. Use Airport Utility, select your Airport Extreme, click "manual setup", then click the Base Station tab. Note the name of the wireless network it's creating.
Then click the Wireless tab. Make sure the Wireless Mode set to "create a wireless network". Next, consider using no Wireless Security at all, until you've sorted out your problems.
Next, click the Airport pane, then click the Internet pane, then click the Internet connection tab. Next to "Connection Sharing" select "share a public IP address".
Click the TCP/IP tab. Configure IPv4 "using DHCP".
Click Update and let it restart.
Make sure your iMac is connected to the wireless network created by your Extreme. It should then get an IP address of 10.0.1.1 and you should be able to connect.
If this works then we can configure your Express to do whatever you want it to do. If it doesn't work write back and we'll try to figure out what's wrong.

    Adios! Steve

    Steve --
Just realized that you have a G5 and not an Intel machine. My response below my still help -- I hope.
I use the R1800 quite extensively and have been extremely happy with the results, so hopefully this will help. When you said that you've reloaded the software, did you mean that you've tried to reinstall from the Epson disc that came with the printer? If so, do not do this. Move it to the trash if you can. I discovered this somewhat by accident when I first bought the printer -- Somewhere on Epson's site it says not to use the Epson disc for Intel Macs. Instead, download the latest driver from Epson's site for your computer and all should work just fine.
If this doesn't fix your problem there may be something wrong with your system that's a bit more serious. Others on this board can hopefully help with that.
