  • Epson CX4800 Won't Print In OSX Mavericks

I just upgraded to Mavericks. Now my Epson CX4800 won't print. I donloaded the Epson Printer Software Update (2.17) through the App Store Updates. I can print test pages through the Epson Printer Utility 4, but when I try and print any document from multiple apllications, my Epson Printer Utility shows that the document is printing (blue & white striped line), but nothing happens. I have tried deleting and adding the printer, but that does not help.

Well I unistalled Gutenprint using their generic uninstaller. I tehn uninstalled the Epson drives, then downloaded the new ones and installed the, Same issue.
I received this from Epson - but it did not work either:
    Power off your product.
Open System Preferences and select Printers & Scanners.
Highlight the Epson printer and click on the "-" sign to delete the printer.
Click Delete Printer to confirm and close Printers & Scanners.

    Close the hard drive.
Restart your computer and power on the printer.
Go to the Epson support website.
Search for your product or select it from the list.

  • Unsupported color space pboblem

    April 2014:
My new mac pro (2013) will not print an ordinary rgb file from Photoshop CS6 to an Epson 7800 inkjet, giving an ‘unsupported color space’ message no matter which color space variation I try. (Mac os 10.9.2 + the latest Epson drivers)
The same file prints readily from an old mac pro (2009) with the same OS version, Photoshop and Epson drivers)
    May 2014:
Now updated the OS on both macs to 10.9.3 - problem persists!
Comparing photoshop print procs on the 2 macs the older has an extensive extra list of Epson profiles (more than 30) Does anon know where these are stored? I’ve tried copying printer files from the library of old to new mac but nothing epson-related shows up…
I can manage by swapping files from new to old macs but surely SOMEONE should be able to help!

  • 'Unsupported color space' nonsense

    Hi all,
I have Photoshop CS2, 9.0.2 and I'm still getting 'can't open file because it uses an unsupported color space' error when I try to edit a graphic object from Acrobat. Is there any way around this problem?
    Thanks!

Any image that contains and unexpected channel name is flagged as an unsupported color space = hence the dialog.
Photoshop is expecting to see for example CMYK, RGB, LAB, Index and Bitmap. If the person who created the PDF placed a Greyscale file or Spot color image, the dialog will come up. Duotones are also affected except Quadtones that have the supported naming convention of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Also, CMYK with SPOTS and DCS 2 files are affected with additional channels as well as channels of expected CMYK are missing.
If I had Photoshops source code to change the naming of channels to allow a user to input names with no color values in Quadtones, I could confirm this naming issue on the Photoshop end.
So in conclusion it's most probably a filter problem in Acrobat that is making Photoshop barf.
    PS-CS-3 extended and Acrobat 8
...and it gets really fun when a client converts the images upon PDF export and they have placed all kinds of flavors in the doument. yea right.

  • Very slight blue cast on epson r1900 when match print color check box is checked

Ok, so this problem has been bugging me for some time now and I know other people have it too, because I can see it some of the screen shots.
I am running CS3 and and epson r1900.  Using the latest drivers, and latest ICM epson paper profiles downloaded again just yesterday.  So what happen is when I go to print a photo, whenever I check the match print color box, the proof instantly assume a very light blue cast which prints on the paper as well.
Let me tell you what I know it is not.
    1.  It is not double color management- ICM is disabled on the epson print manager side
    2.  It is not a badly calibrate monitor, My spyder 2 is working just fine.
I am wondering if its some type of gamut compression inherint the the ICC profile, but if that were the case, if I converted my photo into the icc's color space, it just take on the blue cast, but it does not it.  The blue cast appears only after the match printer colors check box is checked.  Even if I add additional whitespace to the picture, that what space, which when you think about it, should just be paper white, get printed again with the light blue cast.  In checking and unchecking that above mentioned box, I can see that other features within the photo are being affected or shifted as well.  If I use a different icc profile, say, the Kodak Professional Paper profile or a red river paper profile, there is no Blue Cast period when the box is check or unchecked, so it seems to be something related to epson profiles, and Photoshop.
I have removed the printer and reinstalled with all the latested drivers available at epson website, as well as removed all my old epson paper iCC profiles and reinstalled them from that latest available from epson as well.
I can see on some epson printing tutorials avaiable on the web, this blue cast in the screen shots.  Like here- http://www.gballard.net/psd/printing_epson_photoshop_cs3.html
compare the the preview print area , the the white in the in input box for print size and you can see there is a cast.
    So is this normal?
    thanks
    Patrick

    Patrick,
ICC profiles include white point information.  When you check  the match print color box, Photoshop trys to show a quick soft proof of your image there in the print dialog.  The blue cast is Photoshop trying to simulate the white point in the profile - which happens to be the shade of the paper.  Some papers have more of a pronounced blue or yellow shade, and this shows up in the soft proof.
In reality you will not see nearly the level of shift on a print as you do in the Photoshop print dialog.  That soft proof is not really super accurate.
To summarize it is indeed the paper ICC profile that is causing the effect.  Different profiles will all show slightly different variations in the white point under these circumstances.

  • OfficeJet 6500 A Plus Won't print on certain color paper

When I try to print on certain colors of pastel paper I get an error message saying there is a mismatched page size. This is a refurb unit because the original printer wouldn't print all colors of ink consistently and replacing the printhead didn't correct the problem.
After an hour on the phone with tech support we were able to get it to print on pastel paper if I set it to draft quality but it still won't print in normal quality. Tech support blames it on the brand of paper I have despite the fact that I didn't have this problem with the same paper (even from the same ream) with the original printer. The only solution available to me is to use draft quality or use HP brand paper (and that is simply what I was told, I haven't bought their paper to see if this works - haven't even found their color paper).
Anyone have a real explanation/solution to this problem since HP clearly isn't standing behind this product? (Yes, they have replaced the printhead, the printer and now are replacing the duplexer, but having to replace all these parts and still telling me I have to use draft quality does not bode well for the quality of this product.)
    Thanks for any help/suggestions.

I have the same problem. The printer seems to sense the paper before printing and if it's pastel, is feeds that sheet through and every other one until it finds a pure white one, then it prints. I tried different paper type settings under printer properties before printing but no luck.
I got tired of wasting paper and ink so in the end I took a print out on plain white paper and photocopied it onto the pastel paper. That worked fine.
This tells me that the printer driver is messed up or I did not manage to hit on the right paper type setting for the paper I was trying to use.
Photocopying onto your specialty paper is a suitable work around if you are printing just a few pages but not for larger runs.

  • Mac won't print; says print file not accepted

My macbook pro won't print to a new wireless printer that I have; no matter what kind of file I'm printing (doc, pdf, jpg, etc), it says that the print file is not accepted.  I've even used a usb cable to connect it directly to the printer and it still won't print; My computer recognizes the wireless printer, but does not print to the printer; It does however print to another printer that I have wirelessly, just not the new one.  Any ideas on what I can do to make this work?  I've even called Epson (new printer) and they can't figure it out...

Does another computer print to the new printer? You can try resetting the printing system Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system but I would suspect that the new printer may be faulty.

  • Epson C88 Won't Print with Snow Leopard

C88 won't print using Snow Leopard. Downloaded driver from Epson doesn't help.????

Like you, I'm working with an Epson C-88+. Happy with this situation, would not be exactly accurate. I have tried some different approaches, including the ones from John and Kappy. They would work just fine for about 3 days, then fail. I even went back to the Snow Leopard Install DVD/ Optional Installs/ Options.MPKG/ Printer Support and made a choice. I then went to Disk First Aid and everything was fine. Today, I went to print 1 envelope, total dismal failure. I then downloaded the EPSON Printer Drivers 2.1, I proceeded to install the drivers. Did anybody notice, this was an Apple License, not an EPSON License? Therefore, there are no assurances, that these print drivers are in fact, EPSON. Therefore, AppleCare should be required to support these Print Drivers as Apple Licensed Products. But equally so, we as 'dumb endusers' must try to work with AppleCare to solve this issue. To "pete.purvis" John and Kappy, sorry, you guys have proven yourselves to be out of the "dumb endusers group, I just want to say, THANK YOU!

  • I'm using Aurora versioon of Firefox. It won't print & says I need to install a printer but it's already installed.

I'm using Aurora version of Firefox (v. 5.02a). I try to print but it won't and says I need to install a printer. I say OK but it then fails. I already have my printer installed and it works fine with all browsers but Aurora. This problem happened about the time I was offered to upgrade to v 6.02a. I tried upgrading but the upgrade failed and I lost all my many tabs that I keep open for research for my writing. I must be able to print and wonder what I should do (and why 6.0a2 didn't work!).

That 5.0a2 version is old as Firefox 5.0 has been on the Beta channel for some time now and is due for release on June 21 next week (despite what some sites wrongly claim).
Firefox 6.0a2 has been getting developed on the Aurora channl for a few weeks now.
You should update to recent Firefox 5.0 beta 7 at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/channel/ or update when 5.0 is released.

  • Epson r1800 won't print

I have recently changed to imac from pc. My epson r1800 printer was working perfectly but when switched to mac I no longer had access to the full list of printing options, including paper type, so downloaded latest epson drivers. now cannot print at all- printing is "stopped" due to filter error. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • Printing grey in color space

I'm REALLY hoping someone can help me at least find a direction to go in. I'm creating images in Photoshop and printing to a Xerox solid ink printer. If I print in greyscale everything is fine, but if I have an image that has both color and B&W portions, the greys come out green (or brown depending on whether I print from CMYK or RGB). Is there any way to have a portion of an image in a color space and others in greyscale?
Any tips on what I might try as far as the printer? If I print CMYK the greys come out really green but all the other colors are good. If I print RGB the greys come out browner (which is a little better), but other colors get muddy.
Is there any way to get a printer to stop trying to "interpret" greys as a color when in a color mode?
Thank you very much for anyone who can help.

One solution would be to run the paper through the printer twice, once for
    color and again for grayscale.
If that is not practical, my first suggestion would be to adjust your
printouts for as neutral a result as possible. This can be done either in
Photoshop, or in the printer driver itself, using the individual color
sliders that are provided in the printer settings. Sometimes it is better
to aim for an overall warm or cool appearance, rather than try to get a
perfect neutral across the entire range.
Here's a test strip and a procedure for doing this with a minimum of time
    and paper:
    http://curvemeister.com/downloads/TestStrip/digital_test_strip.htm
Photoshop also provides printer "transfer" curves for adjusting the output
of the individual CMY colors - this is a somewhat archaic interface,
originally intended for PostScript printers. They do provide more control
than the manufacturer's slider adjustments, so there you may find it useful
    in your situation.
If you will be doing much of this sort of thing, you may find it worthwhile
to experiment with having a custom profile made for your printer. The
procedure involves printing out a test image and sending it in to be
measured, after which you receive a profile. Cathy's is a good, reasonably
priced service with a good reputation http://www.cathysprofiles.com/ . You
may want to combine the custom profile with a final manual adjustment to
    get clean neutrals.

  • "Unsupported Color Space" error trying to open b/w PDF in PS

This glitch has occured periodically in every version of PS I've ever used. I'm sick of getting it. Let me emphasize" I'm working with a b/w all-text image scanned into a PDF using the "text" setting on my scanner. In past attempts with Adobe tech support to get this fixed, it ends up having something to do with a glitch in PS programming, which gets fixed after an hour and a half of being treated like an airhead by the support tech and finally going into the secret settings area of PS and fixing it.

I did some tests on that image (Color Space: Indexed Device Gray) in Acrobat Pro.
If you want to open it in PhotoShop you could convert the whole PDF to RGB.
There is a Single Fix Up in the Preflight section of Acrobat Pro for this.
See screen shot of Acrobat Pro 9 here (in X or XI this feature is also available):
After using that fix up and saving the PDF to a new name, the TouchUp Object tool can use PhotoShop to open the image as an Indexed 8Bit Channel image in PhotoShop.
You can now convert  to Grayscale in PhotoShop if you want…
