Epson R320, Airport Express & 10.4

Can anyone confirm if an Epson R320 printer will work with Airport Express using Mac OS 10.4? I currently have a Canon i850 that worked pre-Tiger, but pos-Tiger it hasn't worked at all . I want to be able to connect it to my Airport Express so that I can print wirelessly from either my PowerBook or my wife's PC laptop.
Thanks .

Henry,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if the site you gave applies to Mac OS 10.4 though - my current printer, a Canon i850, is listed as compatible, and while it worked fine under 10.3, it stopped working as soon as I put 10.4 on, apparently it's a known Canon issue .

  • Epson Dx5000 & Airport Express - CRASHING!

    Hello,
I print wirelessly using Airport Express, My iBook G4 worked fine, however I recently obtained an Intel iMac and I installed the supplied Epson software (Intel compatible), since then if i click print with any app. then that app. will crash.
I;ve tried accessing Print & Fax in System pref. when i select DX5000 and click Printer setup; Printer Setup crashes.
Not sure what to do from here?
So to summarise, both the Intel iMac and PPC iBook will not print through Airport. And any selection of print setup crashes the application.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Brad

    Hello Brad,
    I would try the following...
    1. Open the Printer Setup Utility (Applications > Utilities), click on the menu title and select Reset Printing System. Close the Printer Setup Utility.
    2. Restart the Mac
    3. Install the Universal version of the DX5000 driver again
    4. Run Repair Disk Permissions (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility)
    5. Via the Printer Setup Utility, add the CX5000. It should appear in the Default Browser view of the Printer Browser.
    6. Try and print something from TextEdit
    7. Report back if it fails

  • Epson SX115 & Airport Express

Ok, so i set up the pinter on the macbook, and everything works fine... But when i disconnected it from the laptop and connected it to the airport express i cannot even see the printer, is there any particular reason for this with this printer...
I have set up 3/4 different networks all with various printers connected to an express with no problems at all....!
But this is baffling me, i understand that it is a scanner/copier/printer, and that only the printer will work, or should work, and that is all i want, as 99.99% of the time the printer will live elsewhere just for printing, and not the other functions... And i have success with previous Epson printer DX7400 with no problem...
    Any help is appreciated...
    Regards
    Kevin

When you use the Airport Utility, does the 'printers' window show your Epson being connected via USB to the Airport Express?

  • TS1253 Print via airport express on iPad

How can we set up printing on iPad via a airport express? I've tried several apps but none really seem to allow printing emails etc some even charge per print which is just ridiculous...

    Airport Express (Old style)

PrintCentral for the iPad appears to be a very popular App, since it supports a wide range of printers.
Worth a look if you have not alredy done so. Check with Print Central support to verify that your printer will be supported.

Yes, the R320 will work with express. Pick the R300 on the list, I have my express set up as extending my airport base.

  • Epson Stylus Photo R280 and Airport Express

    Hello All,
My HP Deskjet recently failed, so I tried to connect my Epson Stylus Photo R280 to my Airport Express to allow everyone to print to it, however, I can't seem to get it to work over AirPort. It always fails out saying "communication error", and works just fine hard-wired through USB. Has anyone been able to get this printer to work with this base station, or have any pointers on how to get this printer to work? Am I missing something?
    Thanks!

I am having the same problem with the SP R320. it's driving me crazy. Was working fine wirelessly for over a year, then suddenly a week ago just stopped. Bonjour sees it just fine- just doesn't print. Says "connecting" forever, but never does anything. and it prints fine via USB. I have posted all over about it, but have gotten no answers. Seems like lots of people are having wireless problems with all sorts of types of printers, so I think it's an apple issue, not an epson issue. I just wish someone would post anything helpful! Where's DrSmoke when we need him!
Found a workaround using a gimp driver, but it's less than ideal.

  • Can't get EPSON nx300 to work with airport express

    hey yall
i'm running a 3 year old white 13" macbook with 10.5.7 osx installed -~- having trouble getting things to print via my new airport express. my boyfriend has no troubles with his brand new macbook pro - it just worked instantly for him.
my computer is able to recognize the printer in a 'Bonjour' location when i add the printer, but when i go to print, it just opens an empty print queuueueue and nothing happens.
i tried installing the latest EPSON drivers to no avail, so i deleted all of them, which also didn't help.

    Welcome to the discussions!
Don't have an exact answer because I can't replicate the problem, but will offer a guess for what it's worth.
You are running Leopard 10.5.7 on your computer and the MacBook Pro might be running 10.6.x Snow Leopard, which may have updated printer drivers for the USB port on the AirPort Express.
Try updating 10.5.7 first by clicking the Apple icon at the upper left of your screen and then clicking Software Update. This may allow you to move to 10.5.8, which did offer a number of printer updates.
Then work your way through the Apple Printer Troubleshooting Guide to see if that might help allow printing to occur.

  • Can't  print more than once with my epson epl-5800L  and airport express

I recently bought an airport express (b/g) in order to use it with my epson usb printer epson epl-5800L. I'm running mac os X leopard 10.5.7 on my macbook pro (2.4 ghz). The printer is plugged into the airport express (firmware 6.3).
My problem is the following : i can only print one job (one document), after that if i want to print a second document, the printer don't accept the print job...and the print status windows shows the following message "Unable to open device (read failure)!". The only solution to get it printing again is to reset the Airport.
I downloaded and reinstalled the last 10.5 driver from epson site, this didn't result in any success, the problem remain, it's even worse now the application office word quit unexpectedly if i try to print through airport express. The error message say "The application escpageASTool quit unexpectedly".
The problem seems only related to airport express via Bonjour protocol, because if i connect the printer directly to the usb port of my macbook pro i can print without troubles. Also, as reported from many forums Tiger 10.4 seems not concerned by this problem.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,

I found this statement - +"Note: AirPort Base Station and Time Capsule printer sharing is for printing only, not for printer utilities or other special features that may require a direct proprietary connection."+ within http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1253. • Printer Troubles: Powerbooks, Airport Express and Epson C86

We have two Powerbooks, and we have an Epson C86 connected to an Airport Express. We are having trouble printing to the C86. My wife can not print at all and I can print only when I restart the AE, then as soon as my laptop is put to sleep and woken up again I can not print at all. I have to restart the AE.
I've tried resetting the printers and the printer utilities, but that again works once then not at all.
Is the issue the OS, the AE or the printer? Are there Epson printers that work smoothly with the latest OS and AE?
    Thanks.

Actually, the problem is still persisting! In order to print I have to do the following:
1 Go to the back room with the printer
    2 Restart the printer
    3 Restart the Airport Express
    4 Restart the Powerbook
Everytime! I am so ****** about this. The printer used to work just fine on the network. Sometimes I feel like technology takes one step forward and two steps back! Just give me a pen and paper!

  • Epson R1800 and Airport Express

    Hi
I have read elsewhere in the discussions that the Epson R1800 does work with Airport express and am seeking some guidance regarding this before spending my coin on the Airport unit.
Since the R1800 is not listed in the ifelix list, will it be fully functional?
My set up is that I connect my PB to the internet and my other mac and shared printers via a Dlink DI-624.
Would the PB connect directly to the Airport express unit or through the dlink as an extension of my existing network?
What sort of operational range could this acheive? I would need it to work over a distance of 15 metres (45 feet ish) through a couple of walls.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Many compatible printers on the iFelix list are listed there because people have indicated, in these forum discussions, that these printers work. Therefore, if you have read elsewhere that the R1800 also works - it too should be on the list.
You would set up the Airport Express (to which the R1800 is connected) to "join" the wireless network created by your D-Link wireless router. Therefore, the Airport Express must be within the wireless range of the D-Link wireless router. Any wireless computer on your network would communicate with the Airport Express via your D-Link wireless router.
45 feet through a couple of walls will likely exceed the ability of the connection to achieve 802.11g speeds, but slower 802.11b speeds should be acheivable. Beyond that, it is impossible to say exactly how well or poorly your wireless connection will perform over that distance - you will have to try it out yourself and see what happens.

  • Epson 9800 printing with Airport Express

    Hello,
I am trying to print to my Epson Stylus Pro 9800 via a new Airport Express. I want to print from my iMac running OSX Mavericks. All software is up-to-date on my Mac and Airport hardware. I downloaded the latest driver from Epson. I have tried the steps outlined in the forums of reseting, reloading the printers etc.
Seems I can't get this thing to print wirelessly. I tried printing connected directly from my computer via the same USB cable and it works perfectly.
Not sure what to do. The computer is able to add the printer just fine. My computer recognizes it and loads it up for use. Seems like everything connects up until the point of printing. The print dialogue box says, "Printing - Connected to printer" but all I get is the candy striped progress bar and no printing. Seems like there is a bit of a disconnect somewhere but I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know if the Epson Stylus Pro 9800 can even print wirelessly?
    Thanks!

On your Mac......if you previously installed the printer at the USB port of the Mac.....then you will see an indication that the printer has been installed when you open System Preferences / Printers and Scanners.
And....if you installed the printer again using your Mac when the Epson was connected to the AirPort Express......that will be indicated in Printers and Scanners as well.
In other words, it will appear as if you have the same printer installed twice. But, closer inspection will reveal that the printer is installed in two places or locations on your network.....one on your Mac and the other on the AirPort.
When you click the Print command, you must choose the correct printer location......either at the Mac....or at the AirPort from the "two" installed printers.
It sounds like you may have installed the printer at the AirPort correctly, but you are trying to print to the printer installed at the Mac.....and it is not there.
Another possibility would be that the Epson 9800 appears to be a professional version printer, not a simple consumer model. If nothing above works, this may be a model that will only work when it is connected to a computer.  Epson Support would be the folks to ask about that.

  • Printing with Epson 3800 via Airport Express

I'm trying to get my Epson 3800 printer working over a Airport Express connection (3800 -> USB on Airport Express). The printer is showing up fine, however when I get to the print dialog I don't have all the advanced controls as I do when printing directly connected to the computer (printer settings and advanced media control).
What do I need to do to get those working?
OSX 10.6.3 with the current 3800 driver (6.11) and firmware (o02179_q).

    Hello Jeff,
There could be one of two things causing this.
    1. The print dialog is not expanded. When you select to print, if you only see the Printer name and the Presets menu, then you need to click the triangle next to the printer name. This will expand the print dialog view and show you all the menu options.
    2. If the print dialog is expanded but the menu options are different, then you may have created the print queue for the Airport connection using the Gutenprint driver. If you open Print & Fax and select the 3800 queue for the Airport connection, in the right hand pane you can see what driver is being used in the Kind section. If this shows Epson 3800 - Gutenprint v5.x.x, then you have created this print queue using the Gutenprint driver rather than the Epson driver. The Gutenprint driver usually provides most of the functions you would require, they are generally just located under different menus. So you can choose to keep using the Gutenprint driver or delete this queue and create it again, ensuring you select the correct Epson driver.

  • Epson SP R360 & Airport Express Problem

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R360. I have added the new Epson Driver 6.1 for Leopard. The printer works using a USB connection through a hub but I have a problem when I attach it to an Airport Express so both our machines can use it. When I connect to the AE using the 6.1 driver it seems to begin printing but after two lines says there is a communication error. I had no problem using Tiger and cannot resolve the problem. While I can print using the USB connection it is very inconvenient having to change over to the AE so my partners computer can then use the printer. Any ideas? Or is this a bonjour problem that Apple need to resolve?

I had the same problem after I upgraded to Leopard and installed the newest R1800 driver from Epson and I got the same response from Epson. The Gutenprint driver does work but it does not handle color management properly and as you have discovered, not all of the print options are properly supported.
You can solve the problem by reverting to the older V3.0aAs driver available at Epson's website. When I did this I believe I used the epson installer to uninstall the v6.12 driver. Then I restarted and installed V3.0aAs and restarted once again. The old printer driver was automatically selected when I installed the printer.
Note. Before you do this, upgrade to 10.5.2 and see if that resolves the problem. The installation notes state that this upgrade resolves the issues printing to "some" printers but it does not say which. If this works, please post your findings and the rest of us R1800 owners can re-install the new driver.
