Epson RX 700 DVD label printing - "driver dealing with CD printing is not..
Thank goodness I still have my PowerBook with Tiger 10.4.11 on it so I can print DVD labels. But I would like to be able to do this with my intel iMac with Leopard on it.
When I try to print DVD labels on my iMac with Leopard 10.5.3 using the horrible Epson Print CD software I am getting, "EPSON printer driver dealing with CD printing is not installed."
I searched on this message board and others have gone to the Russian website and downloaded the newer print driver which isn't available on the American website. I found driver 3.09, download it, and installed it. It shows up in English and everything LOOKs good.
Then I try to print from the EPSON CD Print software and it gives me this error.
Note that I also bought Roxio's Toast 9 Titanium with Disc Cover RE and try to print from that it and the print job gets all the way to the printer queue which tells me, "CD/DVD guide open". Well DUH, I'm trying to print the CD/DVD so I want it open, stupid printer.
Or I'm just being stupid. Help. Did I forgot to stand on my head, rub my stomach, pat my feet, and chant something before/after installing the new printer driver which is supposed to work?
I've done all that (exactly as it is suggested from the Epson support site) and I still get the same error. I called their tech support and they admitted that there is no real fix... only a workaround by doing a manual print. I had already figured that out, but all the instruction on their support site is useless.
My older machines work fine, but our new iMacs running Leopard will not print with Print CD.

Where can I find a print driver compatible with OS 10.7 for USB HP LaserJet P1006?
Where can I find and download a print driver compatible with OS 10.7.5 on iMac for USB HP LaserJet P1006?
Ran software update. Apple notes that a driver is unavailable, consult HP (who seems to offer only info but no software download available).
Any troubleshooting info or hints are appreciated.Hi LPfromMA,
I'm sorry to hear you've run into difficulties finding the driver for your HP Laserjet P1006 for your Mac OS X 10.7.5.
I have included a document with the steps to download and install the driver for your printer and your Mac. It has a section for a USB connection. I have also checked HP.com and there is driver for Mac OS X 10.7.

Missing print driver when adding rendezvous printer
Hello all, hopefully you smart people can help me.
The new iMac (10.4.9) is glorious and printing on the new HP Photosmart D5069 via USB, no problems. I want to share the printer with two laptops (an iBook and Powerbook, both running 10.3.9). I enabled sharing.
When I go to add the printer on the laptops, under Rendezvous printing it sees the printer at the iMac (@ computer). I add it, but then I need the print driver.
So I stepped back and installed the HP software disc on the laptops to get the print driver on there. I installed it via USB. I can print from a laptop to the printer via USB.
However, when I return the printer to its USB connection on the iMac, and then proceed to add the shared printer via Rendezvous on the laptops, I still can't find the printer driver. Under Printer Model/HP there is no Photosmart D5xxx model. Using the generic print driver leads to no printing via Rendezvous (it shows up in the queue on the iMac, but no printing occurs).
So how do I add the correct print driver? It must be on my hard drive, since I can USB print, but I can't reveal its presence to Rendezvous.
As an added note, I thought Rendezvous was supposed to make it EASY. If you have to add the print driver manually, I'm not sure how that helps using Rendezvous.
Thanks
Kevin

For troubleshooting, try using the HP Photosmart P1100 Gimp-Print driver included in OS X. If you don't see that either, you may need to update your laptops with Gutenprint, the new name for Gimp-Print drivers:

What is the best 3rd party print API available with rich print capabilities
Hi
Our SWING based application is 6 years old and we have been using a third party print API that was available at that time.
As it is a very old API, all the print features are not available and it provides just a minimal print features. Now we are thinking of migrating to a best available print API.
What is the best third party print API available with robust print capabilities? OUR COMPANY IS READY TO SPEND SOME BUCKS TO BUY ANY ROBUST THIRD PARTY PRINT API.

Epson R2880 printer driver problems with Snow Leopard
I’m running 10.6.4 on a new Mac mini and I’m trying to print to a new Epson R2880. If I let the system choose the printer driver in the print and fax utility, I get a sort of generic print dialogue box without many options, but it prints. If I go into the print and fax utility and manually choose the driver, I get a different print dialog box with all the appropriate print options. I checked and it matches the screen shots for this printer that are posted on the Epson site, so I feel sure this the correct driver. However, when I try to print with this driver, I get this error message. Error:/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents /MacOS/rastertoescpll failed.
This seems to be a common problem with Snow Leopard and the R2880 Epson printers, and it seems that most people are able to solve it by deleting the printer from the printer queue and resetting the printer queue. But that hasn’t solved my problem.
Here’s what I’ve done:
Manually deleted the Epson folder from the hard drive and trashed it, repaired disk permissions, uninstalled the Epson driver, updated software, downloaded and installed the Apple/Epson driver, deleted the printer from the print queue, and reset the printer queue. I’ve done all of these things several times over. And still I get the same error message every time I try to print from the driver with the print options. Does anyone have any other suggestions for a fix? Some of the previous users had success when they restarted after deleting the /Library/Printers/EPSON and /Library/Caches/Epson folders. You might also try deleting the /Library/Cache folder. There is a solution posted from someone at Epson:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10909012#10909012
Substitute 2880 for RX580:
Make sure that you have completely removed the Stylus Photo RX580 driver, then install the new driver from System Update:
1. Power off the printer
2. Open System Pref. and Print/Fax
3. Highlight the RX580 printer
4. Click on the ""-"" sign
5. Close Print and Fax
6. Open your Mac's Hard Drive
7. Open the Library Folder
8. Open Printer and delete the EPSON Folder
9. Open the PPDs folder find the Epson Stylus Photo RX580.gz and delete the file
10. Close the PPD and the Printer folder
->11. In the Library folder, open the Caches Folder
->12. Delete the Epson folder
->13. Restart the Mac
14. Power on the printer
15. Click on the Apple Icon and System Update
16. Follow the directions to install the new driver
Hope this helps. -
Bonjour won't let me select an Apple print driver for an HP printer
I am trying to print from a Windows XP machine to an HP Photoshop 7350 printer attached to my Power Mac G4 using a wireless connection. However, when I try to assign an Apple color print driver in Bonjour Printer Wizard to the HP Photosmart 7350 printer, the Printer Wizard only allows me to select print drivers from the manufacturer HP.
How can I get Bonjour Printer Wizard to let me assign Apple drivers? I know they are somewhere on the XP machine, because I was able to use them in the Printer Wizard with a different printer (an older Apple Personal Laserwriter).Hi Stephen. I think the easiest thing would be to
download the Bonjour 1.0.2 beta release from the
Apple web site.
http://www.apple.com/bonjour/
That release should have this problem fixed, and the
Printer Wizard will automatically select Generic
Postscript in your case which should allow you to
print. Hope that helps.
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.3)
I've got the latest Bonjour on my XP machine and I'm attempting to print to an Epson SCX4600 on my Mac. I selected the default Generic PS. The test print goes to the CX4600 queue - attempts to print but doesn't and just stops the queue. I tried to start the queue and the same thing happens over. Any ideas? -
Why printer driver stays open after printing?
I have upgraded to 10.5, and every time I print on a shared or local printer, the dialog for that printer (the one that shows the document printing) stays open.
Is there any solution for that?
I have to manyally close the driver after page finish printing, and it happens with HB annd Epson drivers.
Thanks a lot

I was having trouble printing to my HP Color LaserJet 2605dn from a Mac Pro running Mountain Lion, so I went to System Prefernces -> Print & Scan deleted it and atempted to re-add it. When I try add the printer I get this message:
Software for this printer is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it?
After clicking Download & Install (the only option other than Cancel), I get this:
Can't install the software for the Hewlett-Packard HP Color LaserJet 2605dn because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.
What's the workaround when Mountain Lion can't find the driver?

The 2605dn has dual Network and USB connectivity. Which are you attempting to configure: Network or attached USB?
Printer on, and if networked, use a static IP address
Print & Scan
IP
Provide printer static IP address
Select Printer Software ... HP Color LaserJet 2605dn driver (not sure about that 2600 driver)
Add
Configure Driver under Options and Supplies
I have a 1994 HP Laserjet 4m Plus set up using these steps and the appropriate driver. I just added another network printer, using the same IP address, but using the above 2605dn driver without any issue other than complaint about a redundant IP address.
Hopefully, you have already sorted this out. -
.pdf's won't print to hp with ps printer driver
I'm on win7 64 using acrobat pro 11, trying to print to a networked hp laserjet 3015 with hp's universal postscript printer driver.
I didn't have this issue with the pcl5 driver, but it wouldn't allow me to print more that one copy at a time, so I switched to the ps driver.
No other programs are having trouble with the ps driver, and acrobat prints fine to my other networked printer, a canon mx882.
I've found two workarounds and discovered that acrobat XI is very buggy.
I can get it to print the .pdf by selecting print as image, but that takes forever
it appears that .pdfs with only text print fine--it's just an issue if they have some graphic content.
If I go to print, click advanced, and under postscript options select print method "language level 2", and immediately click okay and click print. It will print fine, but the setting does not stay, the next time I open the Advanced dialogue, it's back on language level 3.
1. This makes no sense.
2. a setting ought to stay when you set it.
3. This took hours of trial and error to find--how would anyone know to do this?
Therefore I say this is a serious flaw/bug problem. Where do I report it. You can't reach a human at adobe unless you're a paying subscriber. I just happen to prefer purchasing software outright, so I'm out of luck.
Why can't acrobat just work the way it should?Hi Bruce ,
Please help us with the information below for further assistance on this.
1) Exact version of Acrobat (Help>About Acrobat)
2) How was the PDF created, (PDF Producer) File Properties
3) Size of the PDF not being printed
4) Try printing directly to the printer, rather than spooling the document first
go to device and Printers
Right click on the printer and go to the printer properties.
Advanced>Print directly to the printer.
Also, try printing the documents first to the Adobe PDF Printer and then try printing them to the physical printer.

Printer Driver issue with iMac & HP 1200 Printer?
A friend has this combination, asked me to help him with a printer problem. The HP 1200 Laserjet shows in the "Printer Setup" window, is the default printer. The printer shows up in the hardware connected to the USB bus. BUT, when you try to print, the application printing goes through its normal print flush to driver. Then the printer icon down on the dock shows "waiting for connection," and times out in that state, never to actually print.
EXCEPT! When the guy unplugs the entire system (not the same for restart) and plugs it back in, the printer works, prints everything in its queue, UNTIL he puts the machine to sleep, then he's stuck again. What is happening? Anyone have a clue?I would imagine he downloaded the latest driver for the intel based mac. Aside from that you can goto System Preferences > Printer & Fax > Printer setup > Printer setup utility(top of the screen) and reset the Printing system.

Need to export windows 7 x64 builtin printer driver to a x86 print server
Hi,
We're planning our migration to windows 7 x64. But our environment doesn't have a x64 server neither a Server 2008; we only have x86 server 2003.
We are having trouble with printer Konica Minolta Bizhub 161f. I spoke with Konica support, they advised me they do not have a x64 driver for this model yet. The tech told me i can use the
HP LaserJet Family PCL5 driver built-in windows 7. I connected the network printer and selected the built-in driver from the list. So far this works as a charm.
Here's my concern, in order to upload x64 drivers to a 32bit server, i need to first to connect the printer from the print server to my x64 computer. But when i try this, i don't have the
prompt to select a driver from win7 built-in drivers. When i choose connect to... it asks me to locate a INF file on my computer. I don't have the INF file since its built-in windows. I tried to look within Windows's file system, under "Windows\INF\" but i
couldn't find what i need.
1. How can i export or find a built-in driver file within windows 7?
2.Is there is a better way to upload x64 drivers to a 32bit Server 2003?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Regards,
BenoitHi Benoit,
Thanks for the post.
Here is how we find the built-in driver file within Windows 7:
1. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows X64\Drivers\Version-3\{Printer Driver Name}, in the right panel, check the value of "InfPath". Now we will get the specific path of INF file.
2. On a x32 Win2k3 server
Click on Start, Control Panel
Double click on Printers
Press the ALT button
or
Click on Organize, Layout, Menu Bar
Click on File, Run as administrator, Server Properties...
Click on the Drivers tab
Click on Add...
Click on Next
Uncheck the 'x86 Type 3 - User Mode'
Check the 'x64 Type 3 - User Mode'
Click on Have Disk...
Click on Browse... (to the x64 Win7 machine)
\\X64Win7\c$\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\prn*.inf_{GUID}
For example:
\\X64Win7\c$\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\prnhp001.inf_5fecfc5e\prnhp001.inf
Click on Open
Click on Ok
Under "Printers"
Select the print driver that you want to install
Click on Next
Click on Finish
Now you should be able to see the x64 print drivers installed under the "Processor" column.
Click on Close
In this case, we need to pay attention to the match of INF file name. As the Konica Minolta Bizhub 161f 32-bit printer driver has been installed on Windows Server 2003, but you try to install HP LaserJet Family PCL5 64-bit printer driver. The two INF files
will not be the same, which causes the x64 driver can be instaled as an additional driver. So we need to change the INF file name to match the 32-bit one. I cannot guarantee that the method can totally work on this case as it may involve some custom settings
from printer manufacturer. If needed, I suggest you contact Konica Support when you go through it.
Hope this helps.

Install printer driver for a shared printer MP520
Hi,
I need to install the Canon MP520 (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=116&mo delid=15483) printer to my MBP. The printer is connected to another a mac running OSX and is shared. I installed the OSX driver provided on the Canon page and I can see the shared printer in the network printers but when I am asked to choose the driver I can't see the correct model listed.
On the other hand, if I simply connect the same printer via USB, to my MBP it is recognized directly.
When I'm asked to provide the driver while adding the printer via the network, there is also the option to browse to the driver location. So my question is, where are the can I find the right driver on the OS ?
Thanks in advance ,
TexReading your first post it sounds like the method you used to connect to the shared printer may have been incorrect.
When a Mac is sharing a printer, to add this printer on another Mac, you select the Default browser view. You should see the printer name followed by Shared in this view. When you select it, there should be no requirement to browse for a printer model. The queue should just be created with minimal driver options.
If you want to have all the features of the MP520 available to your Mac, then you need to install the same driver on your Mac as what is being used by the Mac sharing the printer. Check this carefully as Canon offers two drivers for Mac OS X and you can also use the free Gutenprint driver set for the MP520. If you open System Preferences > Print & Fax on the sharing Mac, select the printer in the list and look at the Kind section of the right hand pane, the driver version will be displayed. With a bit of luck the driver that was used to install on this Mac might still be available so that you can install it on your Mac.
Note also that you don't have to add the printer queue to your Mac to print to a shared Mac printer. From the majority of applications, when you select to print, you should find a Shared Printer option in the print dialog > Printer menu. This can be beneficial if you don't have a requirement to add this printer to your list, such as when you are visiting someone with Mac's. This doesn't sound like your situation but wanted to make you and others you read this aware of this fact.

Change print driver settings on canon printer to select one or two sided printing
My Canon print driver prints double sided by default. I want to change to single sided, or be able to select single or double on a per document basis. How do I change my print driver settings?
Here is the solution I used.
The Print driver for Canon, UFRII will default to double sided printing.
Select a document, and select Print.
Open Presets and select Show Presets (this step may not be necessary)
Open Layout, then open Finishing. Change Prunt Style to One side or one page
Open Presets and Save Current Setting. At this point you can change the name of the preset (one page) and select if the chafe is for only the selected printer or all (Canon) printers.
This sure seemed harder than it should be. -
EFI Fiery Print Driver conflicts with OS X 10.6.5
I have tried updating my OS X 10.6 software with update 10.6.5 -- When I did this, whenever I print to our EFI Print Driver, my documents are turned 90 degrees. No matter what orientation setting I use, etc... the printout ALWAYS are turned 90 degrees from the way I need them.
This problem occurs in any program (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop CS5, Acrobat, Preview, etc...). I have tried twice and each time I use a Time Machine Backup Restore to get back to OS X 10.6.4 where the problem disappears. Is anyone else having this problem? How can I report this to Apple and Fiery?I found the following post that addresses this question... thank you!

OS X print driver problem with PDF (only)
Why is it that I cannot print a PDF (only – all other documents print fine) from my MacPro 5,1 OS X 10.7.5 to my HP LaserJet 4050N using the latest HP driver, but I have no problem whatsoever printing the same PDF to the same printer using the Gutenprint CUPS driver? With the HP driver I get spooling file 10% for an hour before I give up.
I have tried printing from Adobe Reader, Acrobat and Preview (all latest versions) with the same result.Nuthin? Not even finger pointing?
