Epson RX595 will not print since Snow Leopard install

I cannot get my trusty Epson to print since installing Snow Leopard and latest printer drivers.
I can scan. Just cannot print.
I have looked at some troubleshooting support articles. Does anyone have a good link, tip?
Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Try deleting the printer, the <hard drive>/Library/Printers/EPSON folder and the /Library/Caches/Epson folder, and then reinstalling the drivers using Software Update. Then add the printer, making sure that you are using the Epson driver, not the Gutenprint driver.

  • HP Laserjet 4100 will not print in Snow Leopard

Since I’ve installed Snow Leopard, I have not been able to print with my HP Laserjet 4100.
My set-up: new 24” iMac, many hard drives and more. Two devices: HP Color Laserjet 5550 and HP Officejet J5750 are connected to the iMac through a USB Hub. Although initially scanning did not work with the J5750, I was able to make that work once additional drivers were downloaded from HP. Both work fine.
I also have an older HP Laserjet 4100 which has been my steady workhorse for years. It only has Ethernet and serial port outlets. It is connected to an AT&T 2-Wired Ethernet Hub/DSL Modem (model 2701HG-B) that is connected to the iMac.
I’ve contacted HP and Apple about this problem. None of the three people I worked with at Apple could help and the HP representative was unsure if they could help but that it would cost me $40 to find out. According to HP website, since Apple Talk no longer exists, we are required to input the IP for the device. For the 4100, the IP address is 10.0.1.100. I tried this two ways: in the “Add Printer” window under “IP,” inputted as the IPP, and inputted as the HP Jetdirect Socket (as per the HP instructions). When this is done, the printer shows up when you give a print command. However, it does not show up in the “Add Printer” window under “default” or anywhere else.
Status: If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable directly to the back of the iMac, the “Supply” level indicates the true level of toner in the 4100. However, it will not print. If I connect the 4100 Ethernet cable to the Ethernet hub, the supply level does not show nor can I print.
    Any suggestions?

Well, another week has gone by without a solution.
    Again, here is the problem:
I have a 24" iMac connected to a USB hub and an AT&T 2-Wire DSL/ethernet hub. When I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and now the update 10.6.2, the two printers on the USB hub work fine but the HP Laserjet 4100dtn does not print. This old printer has only ethernet or serial ports. I've downloaded and installed the HP driver updates from Apple and HP to no avail. According to HP, I must add the 4100 manually using its IP. I've followed the instructions while adding a printer to select IP- HP Jetdirect - Socket. The address of the printer is 10.0.1.100. When I type this in, the window says that this is a valid and complete address. It searches and then says the "Print Using:" is a Generic PostScript Printer. The driver for this printer, I believe, should be "HP LaserJet 4100 Series v.3010.107" Regardless, when I click Add the window "Determining Installable Options" shows "Status: Connecting to printer..." It never establishes a connection.
The 2-Wire DSL/Ethernet Hub/Modem, has an IP of 192.1687.1.66, Submask 255.255.255.0 and Router (DNS) 192.168.1.254.
If I plug the ethernet cable directly from the printer to the iMac, the supply level shows correctly but will not print. If I plug the ethernet cable from the printer to the 2-Wire and then to the iMac, it neither shows supply level nor prints.
Any suggestion as to how to fix this problem? (I've been on the phone with 3 different Apple respresentatives and 1 HP representative with no success.)

  • GCC Elite XL 40 - Will Not Print in Snow Leopard

I am desperate I have wasted two days working with GCC tech support via phone and email and have followed their instructions for setting up my GCC Elite XL 40 as an IP printer for our MacPro running Mac OS 10.6.5. I have checked and double and triple checked the many settings on both the printer and my MacPro - ALL are correct (according to the instructions provided) but the printer will not Print. It is recognized by the computer — got a green light on my print queue — says its ready to print but nothing happens.
I have redone this so many times I - added, deleted and re-added the printer several times - I am just on the verge of giving up but I need this large format laser printer to work with this computer — it's our workhorse for big projects.
There was a Posting here from someone named Rocky dated a few months ago and that information conformed to what I have been instructed to do by GCC but it still does not work. All other Macs on our network are printing to the GCC Elite XL 40 just fine as usual. This is the only workstation we upgraded to Snow Leopard plus this computer is hard wired via Ethernet not Airport.
If there is anyone out there that has made this work please send me some info or direct me to an expert. Thank you.

Looking at the specifications for this printer it shows that the unit support Postscript Level 2, which indicates it's quite an old model. This could be causing problems with Snow Leopard.
The specs also show the printer supports PCL5e and PCL6. So did the GCC techs get you to try creating a printer queue using the Generic PCL Laser Printer? If not it would be worth a try. Make a new print queue using IP > LPD for the protocol, not sure if you need a queue name so leave this blank, and select Generic PCL Laser in the Print Using menu. This Generic driver gives you no options and probably no support for the larger paper sizes but it will let you see if you can get a print job from your Mac to the printer.

  • Quark 7.5 Will Not Print In Snow Leopard

I've been running my networked G5 (OS 10.4.11) for years with no problems using Quark, PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc. I recently bought a new iMac (OS 10.6.2) and migrated the G5 files to iMac. Worked through a few bugs and adjustments, however QuarkXpress documents will not print to my printers (Xerox Phaser 5400 and Lexmark C540). I can print simple Quark documents (text only), but as soon as I try any complex documents, the job spools to the Phaser and then is cancelled. On the Lexmark an error of "900 Firmware Error" appears. All other applications, ie, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and various other applications print fine to both printers. Obviously it's an issue with the Quark software, but I haven't been able to resolve. Any insights?

Yes, I can create PS or PDF files for print, but would prefer not to do a workaround. I would call Quark but I've seen their posts indicating they do not support QX7.5 in the Snow Leopard environment. Also I've seen other posts regarding QX printing problems and Quark advised upgrading to 8, which didn't seem to resolve most of the printing problems I've read about... thank you for the suggestion.

  • ICal and Address book will not print using Snow Leopard

I have had several issues resulting in my having to re-install Snow Leopard several times. Currently all the issues are resolved, but now I have a new issue. The printer and PDF functions will not work. I dread having to reinstall Snow Leopard AGAIN. What is the deal?

This issue was resolved, thanks to a call to Apple Care support. Simply uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer driver fixed the problem. This may be necessary after another printer driver update.

  • Brother MFC 9700 and Canon i960 will not print under Snow Leopard

After checking the compatibility documentation which indicated that the above printers had drivers which would work w/Snow Leopard, I upgraded to10.6. Now neither printer will work i.e. the document goes into the print queue but won't print. I've unplugged/disconnected the printers and re-installed the drivers from the respective manufacturers web pages. I've checked the forum and couldn't find any info. I would appreciate any suggestions.

    Hello Scott.
I suggest you try resetting the printing system, if you haven't done so already.
*How to Reset the Printing System*
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
    4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
    5. Restart your Mac
This will remove your printer queues but not your printers drivers. So you will need to add your printer queues again.

  • Aperture PS CS3/4 Aperture, not working since Snow Leopard install...

Since installing Snow Leopard today I have been unable to export/edit from Aperture to Photoshop CS3/4 and back again!!!
I have tried it with both CS3 and CS4 as I have both installed. Aperture corrupts the thumbnail on export to both apps, they then open the file in both versions of PS but when you go to save after editing you get a message saying the file is open and you can't save it!!!
It seems to me it's an obvious Snow Leopard issue as it worked perfectly before I upgraded but now I am screwed for editing until a fix is sorted, any suggestions???

I am not having that problem. I can edit with CS4 an image that was previously edited with CS4 and also one that was not previously edited at all.
Did you upgrade Aperture to 2.1.4 before Snow ?

  • Aperture will not work after snow leopard instalation,

    Hi,
I have avoided upgrading to Snow Leopard but my children bought me the upgrade for Christmas as they want me to use Face Time. So I did, now aperture will not open and it says contact the originators of the program. I am a pro photographer and all my current work is on Aperture and I have a wedding in two days time and so this is somewhat disturbing as all my post production in done in Aperture. Can anyone help me I have done all the software upgrades etc.....

Are your images files managed in the Aperture Library, or Referenced? Do you have an external disk drive in the configuration, and if so, is it formatted as Mac OS Extended?
If you hold down the Option key while clicking on the Aperture Icon in the Dock, do you get the dialogue that allows choosing between different Aperture Libraries, or even creating a New Library?

  • Mac will not boot after Snow Leopard install

I recently had a HD crash.  Replaced the HD and installed Snow Leopard from a image file on an external HD.  Install went great.  I copied over data files and things seems just fine.  My first reboot after the install and the Mini won't boot.  I am stuck with the Apple Logo and a spinning wheel.  I ran disk utility and the new HD checks out fine.  When I boot with the external HD, it still sees my Mini HD.  I tried restarting with Command/Option/P/R but that didn't do anything.  Any advice?

I'm in a slightly similar spot- no crashes, but-- What I want to hopefully do is run my Tiger ppc apps (3) for CAD on my New- 5 weeks old) Lion Factory Installed machine. The ( November) First Aid Issue of Mac Life mentions a way
way to get external boots, UNLESS they are the Factory installed ( Lions). In the meantime----

  • Safari will not work after Snow Leopard Install

Safari does not work. It opens briefly, then closes. I get a message to "click reopen to open application again," but the same thing happens. Please advise.

    Janice,
    Quit Safari if it's open.
    Locate this file. com.apple.safari.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Launch Safari. If it launches without crashing, then that .plist file is corrupted. Drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.
    If Safari still crashes...
Go to ~/Library/Caches/Safari and delete all the sub-folders within that one.
Go to /Users/YourName/Library/Safari and delete Home/Library/Safari and delete any of these files you have there:
    Downloads.plist
    History.plist
    LastSession.plist

  • HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install

HP Photosmart C6300 printer/scanner not working after Snow Leopard install
Reinstalling etc does not work - does anyone else have the same problem or a clue as to how to fix this?

    Keith,
I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

  • I have a MacBook Pro 15" and my warranty just ran out! I partitioned my harddrive into two partitions, one with Snow Leopard and the other with microsoft. This morning I turned on my Macbook Pro and it will not boot into Snow Leopard.

    Good Morning,
I have a MacBook Pro 15" and my warranty just ran out! I partitioned my harddrive into two partitions, one with Snow Leopard and the other with microsoft. This morning I turned on my Macbook Pro and it will not boot into Snow Leopard. I shut it off took out the battery, reinstalled the battery. Then I put in the Snow Leopard CD and booted up to disk utility and The Snow Leopard partion would not show up?? I do see the microsoft partion.
I also rebooted holding down the shift key and still no Snow Leopard
Could you please tell me what I can do, what keys do I press on restart any advice to get Snow leopard back.
    thank you.

Have you restarted holding down the Opt key?  That procedure should give you a gray screen with all of the partitions that exist.  Then select the SL partition for boot.  Also go to System Preferences and Startup Disk, unlock the lock and select the SL partition as the default boot partition, then relock.

  • My iMac will not boot through Snow Leopard but will boot through Windows OS

My 2010 iMac will not boot in Snow Leopard, only Windows. Have tried reinstalling Snow leopard a few times and works only for a couple of minutes before freezing and doesnt reboot. Windows works perfect. Snow leopard just doesnt want to boot up past the Apple Logo. It was working fine one day and the next day it froze up and was able to reboot back into Snow Leopard but kept freezing. Now it doesnt load at all into Mac OS.

    Possible scenarios:
1: The 10.6.3 SL retail disk is bad, it happens.
2: Your not using the 10.6.3 SL retail disk but one from another machine which doesn't have the drivers for that machine.
3: Your optical drive is funky or some other hardware issues.
4: Your trying to install 10.6 onto a PowerPC based Mac, no can do.
5: Your not using a wired keyboard for boot key commands, have some other hardware conflicts.
    Possible solutions.
1: Copy the SL 10.6.3 disk using Disk Utility to another DVD, the error checking may resolve the original disk's issue.
    http://www.brokenhomeboy.co.uk/pierow/blog/2011/10/make-a-bootable-backup-snow-l eopard-install-disc/
2: Make a SL bootable USB
    http://www.maciverse.com/install-os-x-snow-leopard-from-usb-flash-drive.html
3: Call Apple for a new 10.6.3 disk (and make copies for backup before Apple discontinues selling it)
If your upgrading to 10.6 to get to 10.6.8 to upgrade to 10.7, be warned of this:
1: Your 10.5 software will not work in 10.7, no more Rosetta or PPC based code.
2: Your hardware will not qualify if it's a 32 bit Intel Core Duo, also you may experience slowdowns in performance over 10.6 (10.6 is the fastest OS X version for Intel Macs) in older Intel hardware (I suggest Early 2011 Mac's and later only for Lion)
3: Mountain Lion 10.8 is reportingly coming out this summer and will not run on a lot of older Intel based Mac's because of heftier graphics requirements.
4: 10.6 has the widest range of current avaialble software and drivers for third party hardware.
My advice, stick with 10.6.8 and stay there, buy a new Mountain Lion machine after this summer. Skip Lion completely.

  • MacPro 3.1 will not upgrade to Snow Leopard

Hi. I have a MacPro 3.1 with 2 x 3.2 GHz Quad Core Intel Xenon Processors, 6 GB of Ram. The computer is a standard Apple Unit.
I cannot get it to install Snow Leopard. Info elsewhere on this site suggests it should run under Snow Leopard. I have put the system back to Factory state with a clean install of 10.5. It still will not accept the Snow Leopard.
I suspect the problem may be me trying to use installer disks recently supplied with my new MacBook Pro 13", 2.53 GHz. Can anyone confirm this issue. If I buy another copy of Snow Leopard, that is not apparently Machine specific, will it install?

Yes, the disks are your problem. All you need to erase and install Snow on you MP is the $29.00 Snow upgrade disk. You do not need to ever had have Leopard installed.

I downloaded a dmg file containing Epson ICC profiles . After running the installer, I found the path to the profiles is
