"Epson Scan cannot be started" *sigh* PLEASE HELP!

I've been scouring these forums over and have found plenty of problems over scanning with an Epson scanner, however; nearly all are related to an OS update and mine is not. I am a seasoned Mac user, but a scanner newbie. I have seen several suggestions of using applications other than the bundled EPSON Scan, but I'd sure like to keep using what I've paid for already! After initially installing all bundled software (sorry, I got my wife and I a 4490 Perfection for Christmas), checking permissions in "Get info" for all 3 users and making sure it ALL worked for ALL users: the new scanning life was good for all. Sometime last month things went awry. Only I cannot use the scanner and I get the warning seen in this "Subject" title every time I switch to my account (I work in a non-Administrator account). Curiously, the other accounts get the same warning but still are able to use the scanner with all of Epson's software. I'd go to Epson for answers except that, again, all the other posts report that as futile and this is the best tech community in the world (sorry for the a** kissing, but it is true).

Thank you Tom, though I can feel my frustrations growing with your story of constant "maintenance". Did you finally give up on the Epson? Until now, I've always had great luck (and satisfaction) with their products.
MonK- I am the admin., I do all my regular usage on anther "user" account. When I finally pried my stubborn fingers away from Sonnet modified OS8.6 boxes and bought something to run "X" on, the Mac pundits of the day (MacWorld, MacAddict) advised setting up your box in that manner. As I stated in my original post: "I work in a non-Administrator account". Is this not the correct way to use OSX? I have the scanner "plugged directly in the USB socket on the computer itself" and I have done the other steps you suggested plus running Disk Warrior and deleting pref files.

The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Please help!
I had to manually delete iTunes from my Windows 7 PC. When that didn't work, I deleted iTunes from the Registry. There is no older version of iTunes anywhere.
I still cannot reinstall iTunes. Please help. Thank you.(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:

I have the newer version of the macbook pro and I have read the directions on how to authorize your computer to let you download previous song purchases from icloud onto your laptop, but I cannot find where it says "authorize this computer" at all. I have looked for it everywhere and still cannot find it. Please help!

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us. -

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

Honestly, these are WAGs but they're all that I can think of.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again. -

You got ripped off. You bought a hacked/jailbroken phone. That's what error 1015 means. Return it and get your money back if possible and buy a phone from a legitimate source.
Discussing jailbroken / hacked phones is forbidden by the terms of service. Jailbreaking / hacking voids any warranty and forfeits your right to support here or from Apple. You can not get help here. -

My install of maverick failed as disk is damaged and cannot repaired. I tried to erase disk but got error disk cannot be unmounted. Please help. What can i do? Thank you very much.
First have you got a backup of your data? If not try to get one now while you have some access to the drive. The drive is probably faulty and will need to be replaced, without the backup you risk losing the data.
Have you a bootable external USB drive with Mavericks on it, if so boot from that and try and repair or erase the drive and reinstall Mavericks.
If you don't have Mavericks on an external drive, boot from you Leopard DVD ( I am presumimg your profile is correct) and run Disk Utility from there, you may be able to erase the drive and reload Leopard. You can then install Mavericks. Even if all that works you will most likely need a new drive in the near future. -

Deleting this, then reinstalling adobe air did the trick. I wasn't thorough enough on my first try, it was tricky to find everything associated. I had to look for files in the console log then search for them. Spotlight was missing some deep files, EasyFind worked better for me.
