Epson scan quits during scan

Epson Scan does a preview but quits soon after scan starts.

Good Afternoon bebobed,
If you are unable to scan with the Epson Scan software that came with your printer, try connecting your printer with a USB cable and using the Image Capture program that is built into OS X.
Mac Basics: Using a scanner - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4505
This article discusses scanning via the Image Capture application (located in the Applications folder).
Simplified scan mode
In the "simplified" scanner interface, follow these steps:
Place the item(s) you would like to scan on the scanner bed.
Open Image Capture by clicking Launchpad in the Dock and typing Image Capture in the search field.
OS X Mountain Lion: By default, Image Capture will scan to the system's default page size such as "US Letter", and scan the whole page. Click for other options such as "Detect Enclosing Box" or "Detect Separate Items".
Choose where to save the scanned images from the "Scan To:" pop-up menu:
A folder of your choosing. A number of folders are already pre-configured or choose "Other…" to select the folder you want.
Click "Scan" to scan.
Note: The scanned items will become JPEG images incrementally named: scan1.jpeg, scan2.jpeg, and so forth.
Have a great day!

  • Epson Scanne stops during scan

    Hi,
Im on an iMac 2GHz G5 with 1GB RAM running OS X 10.4.8 with an Epson Perfection 2580 Photo scanner attached via USB.
Up to a couple of weeks ago, the scanner was working fine with both Photoshop Elements 3 and also the Mac Image Capture program. But recently after providing a preview and then starting a scan, the scanner bar scans to the end of the document and then just stopps. It stays at the end of the scanner for about 10mins and then returns to the front, in which time Photoshop has crashed and you have walked away!
I have uninstalled/reinstalled the Epson Scan driver software from their website and currently have version 3.1.0 installed. Rebooting is the only way to access the scanner when it stops working and today I deceide to have a look at the system logs.
The main system log shows the scanner activation and then posts and entry:
    "Feb 12 11:22:36 sue-craigies-imac-g5 crashdump[435]: EPSON Scanner crashed
    Feb 12 11:22:37 sue-craigies-imac-g5 crashdump[435]: crash report written to: /Users/suecraigie/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/EPSON Scanner.crash.log"
(I can foreward the Crash log to an email address if needed)
At the end of the system log a particular entry is repeated about 15 times:
"Feb 12 11:25:10 sue-craigies-imac-g5 /Applications/Image Capture.app/Contents/MacOS/Image Capture: CGContextSetLineWidth: invalid line width: negative values are not allowed."
Does anyone know what is going on, or more importantly, how to fix this?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Daniel Craigie
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Daniel Craigie-
How full is the hard drive that you are trying to save to? Not that it should matter, but have you tried scanning another document?
Is the scanner plugged directly into the Mac? Try it that way.
Disconnect all peripherals except keyboard, monitor, mouse and scanner and see if the problem goes away.
    Luck-

  • HP Scan quit unexpectedly on Mac OSC 10.8.2 with HP CM2320nf MFP

I can print but i can't scan using my Mac Book Pro and the HP CM2320nf MFP.  I keep getting "HP Scan quit unexpectedly".  I have reset printers in the OS.  I have unistalled and reinstalled the latest drivers.  The problem keeps persisiting.  I can't find anything on the net that fixes and I have tried a few times.
    Can you help?
    Thanks

OK, let's try a different approach.  Try scanning with the Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click on your printer on the left, then on "Show Details" along the bottom.

  • Question about Workstation Performance during Scanning

I am looking for information about workstation performace during
    scanning
for inventory. My management wants information on impact before I can
implement the service in our environment. We do have a very wide
    array of
    computers. Anything from Win95 P200 to Win2k/XP P4 3Ghz. Can anyone
    point me
    in the right direction?

    Inventory is minimal.
The first scan takes the most performance. On a p200 we are talking
about 5 minutes with little or no performance hit.
After that, only changes are sent to the server.
I wasn't able to find any doc that talked about performance, but you
can read about inventory in the ZFD documentation.
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I disable sharpening during scan?

    Hello,
Is there a way to disable the sharpening filter that is happening by default?
All I can find under "Image correction" are options to change Brightness/Tint/Temperature/Saturation.
Im using MacOSX 10.8.5 and downloaded the latest HPUtility 5.10.00 and Firmware EGM1CN1326AR
Driver version: HP Officejet 7610 series 1.0
    Best regards, Alex

  • Acrobat 9 Freezes During Scan

Alright, I have been fighting this for a long time. Whenever I do a scan using the TWAIN interface to Adobe Acrobat 9, Acrobat freezes. It goes through the entire scan process, the scanning window disappears, and then nothing. Acrobat just sits there frozen until I close it down. My scanner is a HP OfficeJet 6500. Thoughts, solutions?
    Thanks,
    Bryce

You might check to see if your scanner driver is up to date. If it is not, download the latest driver and install it. If it is, try to uninstall the driver and reinstall it.
    Good luck.

  • I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.

I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files.  For some reason, just this past week, Image Capture will no longer save the file.  It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.
The file name has no special character in it, just letters and no spaces.
I have done this in the past and it has worked, but now it will not.
I have not upgraded any software, that I am aware of.
After scanning, the Image Capture pops up the Scan Results with the file name in the window, but neither the Scan Results nor the Image Capture window responds to inputs.  The Image Capture window is frozen, with only the "Overview" and "Cancel" buttons active (but non-responsive).
Is this a software issue or a scanner hardware issue?  I am using a HP Photosmart C6200 series printer/scanner on a network using a Time Capsule airport.
    Thanks.

    I had the same problem.
Got a 90% fix.  Apparently the Mavericks preferences won't work with Yosemite, so I just deleted the Image Capture preferences.
Unfortunately, the "Scan to" folder seems to be permanently set to the Pictures folder.
    1.  Quit Image Capture
    2.  Go to Finder > Go > Home, which opens up your home folder (named after your user name)
    3.  Open Library > Preferences > com.apple.ImageCapture.plist - Drag this file to the Trash
    4.  Start "Image Capture", click "Details" and change all your settings as you prefer
    5.  Quit and restart "Image Capture".   Notice it remembers all your settings except "Scan to" folder.  It insists on saving to "Pictures".
That's as far as I was successful.  I tried changing the "Scan to" folder to "Desktop", but on launch, Image Capture always sets it back to "Pictures".
    This is what I tried:
    6.  Download and install "Pref Setter" from http://www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html
    7.  Quit "Image Capture".  Right-click on "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist" and open with Pref Setter.
    8.  Search for "Pictures", which finds "~/Pictures" (the tilde character at the start means your home directory).
    9.  Double-click on "~/Pictures" and change it to the folder you prefer.  I like "~/Desktop"
    10. Choose File > Save then Quit from Pref Setter.  Note that re-opening the plist file still shows "~/Desktop"
    11. Start up "Image Capture" -- on startup, "Image Capture" sets "Scan to" folder to "Pictures"
    I consider this a bug.

  • Time Machine, Deep event scan at path: /Volumes/Data reason:must scan subdirs|require scan|

Had a data drive failure, replaced it.  Restored just that volume's data from TM to the new drive via "cp -a".   For some reason just that drive (DATA) forces a full scan at every TM backup.   Have also upgraded to 10.8.1 to see it that would fix things, but no.
    from .Backup.log:
Running preflight for "Data" (mount: '/Volumes/Data' fsUUID: 35066226-2A07-3845-AF7F-69FE0268B156 eventDBUUID: 6DA5C1F4-C522-48B2-892A-36362C54F632)

Should copy 61 items (76 KB) representing 18 blocks of size 4096. 510751904 blocks available.
Preflight complete for "Data" (mount: '/Volumes/Data' fsUUID: 35066226-2A07-3845-AF7F-69FE0268B156 eventDBUUID: 6DA5C1F4-C522-48B2-892A-36362C54F632)
    Time elapsed: 0.002 seconds
Mind you at this point, I've excluded all of the contents of DATA from actually being backed up (the 61 items is a separate bug in backupd where it reports file counts incrementally instead of per volume), it was doing a FULL copy every time, regardless of what actually changed.
From everything I've been able to read/find/fiddle with, the part that doesn't make sense is the the "require scan" on the "Deep event" line above.  Other people have had problems with full scans, but it's usually something about 'no fsevents db' or "fsevents reset"..   this one feels like a setting somewhere telling it to do a full scan, and that's where I'm lost.
The only thing I haven't done yet is fully reset the TM machine drive..  I'll do it, but in theory there should be a reason that will fix this.  I.e. a setting on there I could fix instead.  I'm not a big fan of reboot/reinstall/...  method of fixing things, it just hides the problem instead of solving it.
And to make this into a question..  how do I fix "Data" to be more like my "Video" drive :
Running preflight for "Video" (mount: '/Volumes/Video' fsUUID: A34192F9-20D3-3CCD-B80D-D55FC4EF34DC eventDBUUID: 2BD9CE6F-CCC5-456C-B1E4-26111ADAF2BE)
            Calculating size of changes
Should copy 58 items (32 KB) representing 7 blocks of size 4096. 510751904 blocks available.
Preflight complete for "Video" (mount: '/Volumes/Video' fsUUID: A34192F9-20D3-3CCD-B80D-D55FC4EF34DC eventDBUUID: 2BD9CE6F-CCC5-456C-B1E4-26111ADAF2BE)
    Time elapsed: 0.000 seconds
    Thoughts?

when this one went off, I wasn't even home.  only safari, console, terminal and finder running.  though there is a cp running to copy things off of the Data drive to an external usb for safety's sake.

  • HP Scan and network scanning

    Hello,
An office I support has 2 PCs which were configured to scan from a networked LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw, recently one of them stoped scanning properly while another continues to scan.
I spent about 5 hours attempting to fix this last night and now I am reaching out to the community for assistance. I'll list out the facts and perhaps you can ponder them and get back to me:
    - The PC where it functions properly has the printer installed with Web Services as the transport.
    - This same PC has "HP LJ200 M276 Scan" under "Imaging devices" in Device Manger, which is ideal and lets HP Scan work correctly.
    - On the bad PC, HP Scan attempts to scan and the lamp moves down the range of the flatbed, but eventually it comes back with a generic wordy message regarding a communication issue.
    - I have tried driver and software removal/installation in various order, both with Web Services and using a IP port.
    - I tried restating the three WIA services, and turning off the firewall.
    - I have tried HP Doctor, it complained of a WIA issue at one time, at a different time it claimed that it fixed a WIA issue.
    - When I install using Web Services, HP Scan does not get installed, and the device just says "WDP Scanning Device" or something of that nature.
    - With Web Services, I can right-click on the device, choose Scan, and everything works fine; however this is not the HP Scan interface which has built-in PDF creation and the customer needs it because staff have been trained for it.
    - When I install HP Scan, it only wants to use the "HP LJ200 M276 Scan" device and if it is unavailable or disabled it does not proceed.
    - I have not found a way to get HP Scan to simply use the "WDP Scanning Device" even though it seems like that would work, even tried renaming it in the registry but perhaps it is associated with UUIDs?
    Please help, thanks in advance

    Hi mekantor,
I see by your post that you are unable to scan from the one computer.
I can help you with this issue.
If the scanner drivers are installed, try and see if you can scan from Paint.
You can try and reinstall the HP scan software separately to see if that will resolve the issue.
Go to start, computer, right click on the CD for the printer installation and left click on open.
Open the setup folder, product folder, and then Scan_App folder.....HPScanLJM.....msi -
    right click and select install.
If you are still having issues then do the following steps:
Do a msconfig and disable any start up programs and temporarily turn off any Antivirus Software and the Real Time Scanning. (affects the scanning software) How to use MSCONFIG.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%.
Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted.
Uninstall the software again. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
When the uninstall has completed, restart the computer.
Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
In the Openbox, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box.
In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver, and then click OK.
If you have any difficulty with this step, please use this link to perform it another way.
    Restarting Windows Installer.
Run Disk cleanup from Start/All Programs/Accessories/ System Tools. <How to Delete files using Disk Cleanup
Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player. http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    Restart the computer.
Reinstall the printer software. HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw Drivers.
Check for the HP Scan software and test the printer.
If it fails to install the full software, run the  Print and Scan Doctor to see if you get another WIA error.

  • How do you configure what folder Scan to Computer scans to?

I am able to initiate a Scan to Computer > Scan to PDF from the printer control panel.  The file is placed on my Macbook in the Docuements folder.  I would like to configure the folder it places the file in.  Is that possible?  Note I am not choosing Scan to Network Folder as I have issues with that which I will create a different post for.

    Hi @tfeeneytx
If you open HP Utility, you should see Scan to Computer. Double click on the icon,
    then click on the Scan Tasks tab;
Select any presets that apply to your scan job.
Click the Edit... button, change any desired settings (such as scan destination) , and then click OK.
To start the scan, click Test.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, thanks.

  • How to failover SCAN VIP and SCAN Listener from one node to another?

    Environment:
    O.S :          HP-UX  B.11.31 U ia64
RDBMS:   Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
It is a 2 Node RAC.
    Question:
How to failover the SCAN VIP and SCAN LISTENER running on node 1 to node 2?
What is the relation between standard LISTENER and SCAN LISTENER ?
Why do we need LISTENER, when we have SCAN LISTENER ?
When I tried with SRCVTL STOP LISTENER , I thought the SCAN LISTENER adn SCAN IP will failover, but it did not?
Also please clarify if I use SRVCTL RELOCATE SCAN -i 1 -n Node1
Actalluy I am trying that by moving the SCAN listeners so that when I do PSU 7 patching on 1 node, no incoming attempt to connect will spawn
a process and thereby opening files in $ORACLE_HOME (which would prevent the patch from occurring)
    Please clarify my queries.
    Thanks,  Sivaprasad.S

    Hi Sivaprasad,
    1. The following link will help you for SCAN VIP and SCAN LISTENER failover from 1 node to another.
    http://heliosguneserol.wordpress.com/2012/10/19/how-to-relocate-scan_listener-from-one-node-to-another-node-on-rac-system/
    http://oracledbabay.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/steps-to-change-scan-ip-address-in.html
    2. The Standard LISTENER is specific for particular node for which it is running. It cannot be relocated as its specific for the node its running. SCAN listeners are not replacements for the node listeners.A new set of cluster processes called scan listeners will run on three nodes in a cluster (or all nodes if there are less than 3).  If you have more than three nodes, regardless of the number of nodes you have, there will be at most three scan listeners. So no relation for standard LISTENER and SCAN LISTENER.
    3. Hmmm. let me put it in easy way for this question. All the RAC services like, asm, db , services, nodeapps registers with this SCAN_LISTENER. So if any of these services (asm, db , services, nodeapps) got down/not running, the SCAN_LISTENER will know the down status, and if any client requests to access the node/service which is down, the SCAN_LISTENER will redirect the client request to the least loaded node. So here all these process will happen without the knowledge of client. And As usual the standard LISTENER looks only for incoming request to connect with the database. So we need both LISTENER and SCAN LISTENER.
    4. If you provide SRCVTL STOP LISTENER,  it stops the default listener on the specified node_name, or the listeners represented in a given list of listener names, that are registered with Oracle Clusterware on the given node. No failover will happen under this case.
    5. Yes you can relocate if you want to relocate the scan.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Idvd quitting during encoding

I recently upgraded to Leopard and have had problems burning through idvd ever since. Idvd keeps quitting during the processing movie stage. I have tried repairing permissions and deleting the preference file with no success and have ensured I have 25 gb of free space. Any further suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated as I have run out of ideas now and getting very frustrated.

    Questions:
    Did you repair permissions yet?
are all assets for iDvd located on the startup volume (as opposed to an ext HD)?
Are you using an ext. FW / USB Hard Drive on your mac by any chance? If so eject and disconnect it and try again.

  • IDVD Quitting During/After Initial Burning

I'm am having random problems burning projects. I just successfully burned a project that had only 1 menu and 1 QT movie w/o chapters (20 minutes long) but iDVD quit immediately after. A real pain as i need to make multiple copies and now have to wait for asset encoding again.
I also have been having trouble burning other projects that have 2-3 menus, a short QT movie in the menu and a 40 minute QT movie with chapters as the main movie. These projects keep quitting during the burn and nothing is getting on the dvd.
    Any ideas? Thanks.
    10.4.3
    iDVD 4.0.1
    50 GB free space
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Ok, so now i've tried quitting all other programs and rebooting before burning a dvd. iDVD is still quitting after successfully burning a project. I need to burn more than one disk though and don't want to wait for the encoding again.
Can anyone offer any advice as to how to fix this or any other options? Thanks.

  • Indesign CS6 quits during document recovery, even after restart. How do I get out of this cycle?

Indesign CS6 quits during document recovery, even after restart. How do I get out of this cycle?
I was saving a document when it originally quit. so "locked" file appeared in directory as well as reg file.
Upon restart of InDesign, recovery failed and software quit again.
Restarted computer, then indesign, file opens but as soon as I select "recover" it sends a message that indesign needs to close.
I cannot seem to get out of this cycle. Help.

Use your operating system’s Search utility to find a folder called (InDesign Recovery) and delete it.
