Epson Stylus CX 5400 Mac OS 10.3.9
I just wanted to post a solution I found through using Epson's phone support with the rest of the mac community. I had gotten myself extremely frustrated trying to get my computer to detect the drivers when I would open the Printer Utility.
I paid $9.95, which I thought wasn't bad, for the onphone support. The gentleman on the other end got the problem solved quickly, and this was how.
Download the epson10852.sea file from here : Link
Open your harddrive folder > library >and delete the "epson" folder.
Open and run the epson10852.sea file and follow the installer instructions.
Restart the computer.
Open printer Utility and under USB or Epson USB, you should then see the Epson CX 5400 and its installer. Click on the printer under the Product ID column and hit, "Add Printer".
Try some generic maintenance - Reset the Printing System:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
If that doesn't help, try a Safe Boot, which does some system repairs:
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
(after boot is complete, just restart normally)

Epson stylus pro 4000 & Mac OSX & Photoshop CS6
Has anyone been able to produce acceptable prints using an Epson Stylus Pro 4000 on a MAC with OSX version 10.8.2 and Photoshop CS6? I have recently converted from Windows to MAC and made the jump from CS3 to CS6, so I have many moving parts. I have Colormunki and have calibrated the monitor and created a printer profile for my paper. My basic question is -- Am I missing certain settings or steps to correctly color manage and produce good prints, or do I need to buy a newer Epson printer because it is just not compatible with the MAC and latest photoshop?
Thanks Charles and Sir-Leto. I'm not using Colormunki. But I have been printing using Photoshop and choosing "Photoshop handles Colors" for many, many years with terrific results. As soon as I updated to OS 10.8, the colors were immediately off. The only way I have found to get the colors to print close to normal is to choose "printer handles colors" and print using "adobe RGB" under the color options. This option is not ideal, but its getting me a lot closer to my normal output. And other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Photoshop CS5 & Epson Stylus 3800 problem (Mac)
I am experiencing a frustrating problem with Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Epson Stylus Pro 3800 printer with a Mac.
Trying to print on H-M paper, using the appropriate settings (see below), I find that under "Print Settings" on the printer driver, all the "Fine Art paper" choices are greyed out.
Also, which may or may not be relevant, no matter what presets are selected, the parameters remain the same (i.e., it does not appear to be responding to a change of presets).
I am running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4 on an Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. I have loaded the latest Epson driver, and reinstalled it after trashing the old /Library/Printers/EPSON folder.
Settings:
• Photoshop Manages Colors
• Document profile: HFA_Eps3800_MK_PhotoRag
• Printer Profile: HFA_Eps3800_MK_PhotoRag
• Intent: Relative Colorimetric
At this point I am baffled. Can anyone please help? There are supposed to be Mac drivers and also Leopard beta drivers for the 3800.
There are too many Epson customers on Macs for them to not let the photo printers work with Macs.
P.S. I just Googled "Epson 3800 driver" and the first hit was the driver page. There are Mac drivers there, as there should be. *Did you scroll down past the Windows drivers* on that page? The Mac drivers are right there below the Windows drivers, just as they always are on the Epson site. -
FIX for EPSON Print CD V2.02 - EPSON Stylus Photo R200 - MAC OS 10.5.9
I thought I'd post this ridiculously long info sheet on what finally got my R200 to work with EPSON Print CD and 10.5.8 just in case it might help someone else BEFORE they spend days searching for a solution.
Check the printer driver information in System Preferences, Print & Fax. If it says anything other than EPSON SP R200 Series, you’ve likely located the problem. My system showed the Gutenprint v5.1.3 and /or CUPS/+GIMP... I originally replaced the Gutenprint driver file with the CUPS... file thinking this would solve the Gutenprint driver problem. But, as I continued to look into what was going on, I think I found out that both driver files are actually considered Gutenprint driver files.
1. Select the hard drive where the operating system is located.
2. Select Library/Printers.
3. Select the Epson folder and delete it and then Empty Trash to make sure it’s gone.
4. Select Library/Preferences.
5. Select the Epson folder and delete any files that are there.
(Steps 4 & 5 might not be necessary, but I’m listing everything that I did.)
6. In System Preferences, select Printers and Fax. Control click in listing area and select Reset Printers.
7. Load the Leopard Installation CD and select Optional Installation.
8. Select Printers and select Epson. This will reload the printer drivers for all the EPSON printers that are included on the install CD.
9. Go back to the System Preferences, Printers and Fax window. Click on the + sign to add a printer.
10. There will likely be a listing with Printer Name as EPSON Stylus Photo R200, Kind as USB.
11. Click on an arrow in the Print Using: box and select EPSON SP R200 Series. The printer icon changed dramatically at this point, with a rainbow of colors on the document shown coming out of the printer.
Note: **Working within the Print & Fax app seems to be key to getting the settings corrected.** Someone else pointed out that they also found this necessary. However, I couldn’t get the proper “Print Using:” option to appear until I cleaned out the Library/Printers/Epson folder, “Reset Printers”, and reloaded the EPSON printer drivers from the Leopard installation CD.
I had previously done the “Reset Printers” and reloaded the printer files, but as was advised against in the post I mentioned, I selected the “More Printers” option. That’s where I found the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 listed with the CUPS+Gimp ... and the Gutenprint driver listing options. Selecting what appeared to be the Gutenprint alternate printer driver didn’t help at all. I’m not sure if the EPSON SP R200 driver file was missing from the original listing of printer drivers or if I just missed it. I certainly would have looked for it if I had known it was the one that’s needed.
12. Open the EPSON Print CD V2.02 app. Although I had already installed the Easy Print update, I got a message saying that the application needed the update to work. So, I reinstalled the Easy Print update.
13. After reinstalling the Easy Print update, I reselected Update Printer Information. Much to my amazement, I got a message and a progress indicator showing the Printer Information was being updated to reflect the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 printer.
14. When the Update Printer Information process had completed, I clicked on Print and suddenly found that I was able to choose Select Printer and pick the EPSON Stylus Photo R200 and CD/DVD wondrously appeared in the Media Type.
After this point, all the other instructions that are provided from EPSON seemed to work just fine.
Hopefully, there’s enough information in here somewhere that people with other operating systems and printers might at least be able to get a clue . . .I dug around on the Epson site and found this which seemed to address the exact problem so they obviously know about it. Unfortunately even these rather drastic steps failed to solve the issue for me.

Epson Stylus 740 on Mac Mini with OS X 10.4
This is maybe a silly question...
I've tried to print photos from Photoshop CS2 on my old (OLD!) Epson Stylus 740 inkjet. It worked great on my previous computer (with OS 9.1) but every time I've tried to print from Photoshop from the new computer, it looks TERRRRRIBLE. It prints from Illustrator okay- it seems to handle solid colors well, but photos just look awful.
I looked on Epson's website, thinking maybe I just needed an updated/new driver that didn't come with the computer (since the printer is very old). On Epson's site, it didn't list anything for OSx, so I assumed the printer just wouldn't be compatible.
However, on the topic at the top of this forum is a link to compatible printers etc. and when I clicked that, my printer is listed.
Now I'm really confused- does that mean my printer is compatible? Or no?
When I put the disk in that came with the printer, it wanted to try to run OS9 on my computer- that makes me think it was not compatible with OSx as well.
Thanks for any help. I don't mind buying a new printer and was fully expecting to, but wanted to make sure I wasn't going to give away my old printer, when it might work just fine and I could save $100.i didn't have an EPSON USB driver but there is one for the stylus 740. so i used that. there was also a gimp one which i tried. GIMP LOOKED HORRIBLE it made the picture REALLY dark and contrasty and terrible. the non-gimpified version was better, but the pic still *****, plain and simple. something isn't right.
the picture, at best, looks really muddy. it looks like grey is mixed in with everything and some shadows are really exaggerated.
i'm printing from photoshop- and on my HP Photo printer, this same picture (as a 4x6) comes out beautiful with wonderful color- so i know it isn't because the file itself is bad.
i'm about to either cry or drop kick this printer out of the house I thought there might be an easy solution to get it to work. -
Epson stylus sx235w and Mac OS 10.9
Why doesn't it work in the wifi mode?
Not sure if your all in one will connect automatically in Mavericks. My WF 3540 had to be manually set up to connect to my Airport hub. A pain, but I finially got all the info correctly entered.....If you can print via usb then you need to set up the wireless connection from the printer.

Epson Stylus CX5400 printing rubbish over the network!!!
Hi! I am visiting my mom and dad for the holidays and they have an all-in-one Epson Stylus CX 5400 connected to their WinXP computer. Bonjour installed as well.
I have tried a few times to print some photos from iPhoto. I also tried printing an email from Apple's Mail. Everytime all I got was... nonsense basically. This kind of printout with unreadable characters.
I thought the lack of drivers for such a device installed in my PB should make no difference but anyway I tried installing them. I was right, the result was the same.
File sharing takes place without problem. As far as I know the drivers are up to date on both computers. If I connect the CX5400 directly to a PB's USB port it works great, but no otherwise.
Any thoughts?
Merry Christmas and happy 2006.
George...Neither the PC nor the printer know what to do with the PostScript your Mac is sending. When the printer is attached directly to the Mac you use the printer's USB driver which speaks the printer's language, but when you send it over the network to the PC, you are using PostScript printing which the PC can't raster, and the printer doesn't understand. I don't think there is a solution here. I doubt there is a PostScript driver for that printer. You could install GhostScript on the PC, but that is very complicated and probably not worth it.

Adobe PSE 8 + Epson Stylus Photo PX710W - Cannot Get This Combo to Work
Hi All
Apologies for length of posting but I am really at the end of my tether with this. I should say that prints from this printer have not impressed me even from when I first received it about a month ago when I was printing from Epson Easyprint software. They looked washed out and not at all vibrant and I was using Epson inks and papers. However things got a whole lot worse when I started to use PSE8 which gave prints that were far darker than those on screen. Interestingly the best prints so far came from me simply inserting my SD card directly into the printer this morning but obviously that gives little-to-no control over manipulation.
So, if somebody could help me I would really appreciate it. Here are my latest settings:
Snow Leopard 10.6.4
Macbook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core Duo
Epson Stylus Photo PX710W
Adobe PSE 8 (Mac)
Note that I spent the whole of yesterday working on this to the stage where I uninstalled and reinstalled all of the Epson stuff. I also consulted the following link (and related links) and downloaded the latest Mac Updater from the Epson US site.
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10609503
My latest print driver from the Epson CD is showing as version 6.61
I also loaded Epson ICC profiles
I have calibrated my monitor using the Eye-One display 2.
When I print in PSE I am choosing:
Colour Settings: Always Optimise Colour for Computer Screens (I chose this because my photo file is showing as sRGB)
Colour Management:
Colour Handling: Photoshop Handles Colour (I disabled Printer Colour Management in another menu)
Image Space: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
Printer Profile: SPPXTX 810 710 Epson Glossy
Rendering Intent: Relative Colorimetric
I truly hope this is a case of user error on my part so all advice welcome. Or just let me know if oyu know of a better printer:)
Many thanks
LI also had enough with Epson Stylus Photo PX710W... I am buying a new printer. I have tried everything to make it print from photoshop nice vivid colors, if you consider i am using a very well calibrated monitor special for video editing. i used also Dekke settings for Colors and are not even close to the original when printed and i can't seem to figure out whats the problem. I disabled printer color management and let photoshop handle it. I tried Adobe RGB, i tried Epson Standar bla bla bla... I searched the subject very deeply as to inform everybody before posting anything that i have no problem with my videos whatsoever. I have tried numerous settings (almost all photoshop could offer) and have consumed a lot of ink and printed thousands the same picture to compare the settings and wrote with a marker on it each times the combination of settings that i did. Not even close... I realized only one thing just to also let others know and get them out of trouble... Epson Stylus Photo PX710W + Mac = Disaster! Good for windows yes, but buying a Epson Stylus Photo PX710W for your Mac? FORGET IT! I'm throwing it to the waste bin or i will just give it away to someone for free.

Photoshop CS6 on a Mac using an Epson Stylus PRO 3800 printer.
Installed Photoshop CS6 on a Mac Version 10.9.4. Installed an Epson Stylus PRO 3800 printer. When I try to print through Photoshop the dialogue box won't give the option to color manage. I followed the link suggested in the print dialogue box but that was for CS5 and said it will only work with TIFF files. I work with .psd files. I downloaded it but my Mac will not let me open it. Any help would be most appreciated. Mary Ellen
From Chris Cox: If you choose "Photoshop manages color", then Photoshop is managing the color and the printer driver is supposed to disable it's color controls (and let Photoshop manage the color).
If Photoshop is managing the color, then there is nothing else for the printer driver to do - so it grays out it's own color controls because they don't apply while Photoshop is managing the color. -
I have a fairly new iMac running OS 10.6.7. Im trying to print to an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 via an in-house wireless internet. I have installed the latest drivers. It was working a couple of months ago. My wife is on the same network using a MacBook Pro and the same OS and is having no problem.
I have been using an Epson 3800 with my I Mac for four years and up untill I upgraded to OSX Lion the only problem I had was colour issues associated with some ICC profiles. After upgrading to Lion and downloading the latest OSX update (10th May) I could not print.
One of the problms was that the print settings continuously defaulted to:
Page Setup: Sheet Feeder
Media Type: Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster
I would change the settings to what I wanted, I saved them selected Print. My printer promptly started changing from Matte ink (what I had set my print setting s for) to Photo Black.
After trying all i could to correct this. I finally gave up and rang the Epson Helpline. After 3 telephone calls over a day and a half during which I was talked through the procedure you described, the problems were still not resolved.
My contact on the Epson Helpline then tried to simulate the problem on his MAC. He discovered that he had the same problem the print settings would not save, albeit on a Epson 3880 driver. He then advised me that the problem was not with thw Epson Drivers it was a MAC/Apple problem.
I then rang the Apple Helpline (at £1.35 a minute) described the problem and was eventually put through to a supervisor. Who asked me to send her a set of screen shots describing the problem, This I have done, I have received an acknowledgement of receipt and have been advised that I should get a response within two working days.
I am waiting hopefully.
I have tried to print both via CS5 and Aperture the problem is the same in both instances. -
my epson stylus SX235W has all of a sudden decided it won't print from my mac. it says rastertoescpII has unexpectedly quit. what is this and how do i get it to print from my mac again?
Open the Sharing pane in System Preferences. If the Computer Name is not set, enter a name. You may first have to click the lock icon in the lower left corner and authenticate to unlock the settings.

Try installing the Epson drivers from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398
and then seeing if adding and printing with USB works.
This site really works and my computer is now printing.
