EPSON Stylus CX4800 - cannot print at all

I followed these directions (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supAdvice.jsp?type=highlights&noteoid =94207) and installed the printer software but that didn't work. when I select printer preferences, it still says Epson Stylus CX8400 - Gutenprint v5.1.3. I've tried deleting the printer off the list and re-adding it. no luck.

John,
Thanks for the reply. In regards to deleting the entire Printers folder, I haven't done that, but I have deleted the Printers/Epson folder before installing the Epson drivers again. This was one of the steps Epson recommended in uninstalling existing drivers. I have done this, and it had no effect. I'm fine to delete the Epson folder -- however I'm not real crazy about deleting everything else: first, because I have another printer (HP), and second, because I don't really want to nuke my other drivers I may need in the future -- it doesn't seem to make sense that deleting other non-Epson printer drivers would have an effect here.
As for the Print Module in LR, all paper/profiles installed by the Epson driver installed show as selected when accessing them through the "Other..." selection.

  • Epson Stylus CX9400 - Cannot print in black ink only

I cannot print in black ink only on my CX9400 printer.  My OS is Windows 7.  I've never had this problem before, and it only happens with pdf documents.  Please adivse me how to correct this problem.  Thank you.

    Dear user BVILLE22,
In 10.1.2, we have intentionally removed the option 'Print color as Black' from the print dialog due to its incorrect behaviour of converting all text to black. The correct one is to print it as Grayscale and for doing so, you can follow the two below mentioned methods:
    Method 1:
    1. Select your printer and click on its properties button.
    2. Search for option 'Print in Grayscale', which is provided at different location for different printers. One I am attaching for reference is under 'Color' tab of printer properties
    3. Click ok and then print.
    Method 2:
    1. Select your printer.
    2. click on Advance button.
3.Select Color management section -> 'Working Gray' as color profile.
    4. click ok and then print.
Hope this will solve your problem.

Try installing the Epson drivers from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398
and then seeing if adding and printing with USB works.
This site really works and my computer is now printing.

    Hi Everybody,

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
    Thanks for the advice, Bee

  • Problem printing from cs6 photoshop to epson stylus pro 4800 printer

Has anyone had trouble printing from cs6 on a mac running lion to a epson stylus pro 4800 printer?   I keep getting an error message saying  "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.""   The computer sees the printer just fine and has the latest driver installed. I have removed it and reinstalled it many times . I need help with this.

Yes, the menu items are not unavailable. We were already aware of the "Reveal Arrow" issue under OSX v10.5.3. The most important print menu items such as "Print Settings" and "Color Management" are simply not present. As previously stated we've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest (v3.66) "Universal" print driver on both hosts and all of our client Macs. A resolution to this problem is very urgent as our semester begins this week and currently students can not print their next week assignments.

  • Epson Stylus r360 issues printing in Leopard via Airport Extreme & Bonjour

I hope I am not duplicating any posts, have searched but have not found a similar problem.
I have an Epson Stylus Photo R360 printer connected to my Airport extreme via USB sharing the resource around the house via Bonjour to all my Mac's.
Problem is it works fine under Tiger but the 2 Mac's that have been upgraded to Leopard 10.5 no longer print. It discovers the printer and loads in the printer configuration window ok, drivers are found and the printer looks good to go.
However, when you try and print, after about a minute an error appears on the printer in Leopard with an exclamation mark and is unable to continue.
If you hook up the printer directly to any Mac running leopard, it works fine!
Anyone else having this problem? Is this something Apple has changed in Bonjour or maybe printer drivers problem via Bonjour?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    G

I found a fix for the problem of not being able to print from a printer connected to an Airport Extreme.
I had similar issues with my Canon iP4200, which was connected to an Airport Extreme. Printing worked fine with Tiger, but Leopard has somehow corrupted the feature. Printing is now very sporadic, at best - and will stop a few seconds into the printing and hang. My solution was to hook the printer directly up to the main (host computer). Go into System Preferences > Sharing, and make sure you've selected 'printer sharing'. Then go into the Sys Pref for "Printing/Fax", and remove your current printer (which was accessed via Bonjour on your Extreme) - you can leave it if you like, just make sure that when you add the new one, that you make it the default. Once set, make sure that you check the box labeled 'Share this Printer'. You will also now notice that the printer's location has changed to your host computer's name. You will now be able to print from your main computer without a hitch. Now access the System Pref>Printer/Fax from any other wired or wireless computer on your network. Add a new printer, a new choice will appear on your list, which will list the printer name with the "@" symbol, followed by your host computer's name. Select that, and let it do it's auto driver check, then click 'add'.
You will now be able to print from any of your computer's on the network. Best of luck.

  • Photoshop CS6 on a Mac using an Epson Stylus PRO 3800 printer.

Installed Photoshop CS6 on a Mac Version 10.9.4. Installed an Epson Stylus PRO 3800 printer. When I try to print through Photoshop the dialogue box won't give the option to color manage. I followed the link suggested in the print dialogue box but that was for CS5 and said it will only work with TIFF files. I work with .psd files. I downloaded it but my Mac will not let me open it. Any help would be most appreciated. Mary Ellen

From Chris Cox: If you choose "Photoshop manages color", then Photoshop is managing the color and the printer driver is supposed to disable it's color controls (and let Photoshop manage the color).
If Photoshop is managing the color, then there is nothing else for the printer driver to do - so it grays out it's own color controls because they don't apply while Photoshop is managing the color.

  • Installed Adobe Reader X Cannot print. All Fixes futile!

Have OS Windows XP Installed Adobe Reader X and cannot print. Documents open properly and can be manipulated according to their limitations except I cannot print. Printer is HP Officejet 4500 Wireless. Have converted back to hard connection for this process. Connection not an issue. Everything else except the pdfs will print normally. Printing a pdf elicits no response from the printer. Does not show in queue. Hard attached another older HP printer. It does respond by pulling blank paper thru machine. Have full warranty on HP printer and have been thru detailed process with them. Does not appear to be a printer issue. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Tried all the same fixes. Still does not work. Connected to old printer.
Printer responded, but did not print.

  • How can I connect the ipad2 to an Epson Stylus SX445W wifi printer?

How can I connect the ipad2 to an Epson Stylus SX445W wifi printer?
Any help appreciated. Obviously I'm not technically minded so simple... Sorry... Very simple instructions would be great. Thanks

Does the iPad come up with a "no AirPrint printers found" message? If so, the most common fault is that the printer isn't on the same WiFi network as the iPad. Your printer may also need a firmware update. Epson has some support information here that may be of help:

  • Bought a new Mac Pro, purchased a Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter, then hooked up Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer but the system preferences does not see the printer. Started, restarted, hit the " " to add a  printer but no go.

How to connect via Firewire/Thunderbolt adapter an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer to a new Mac Pro

When you switch from USB to FireWire, you have essentially installed a new (i.e., different) Printer.
In the Add-a-Printer dialog, delete[-] the existing Printer queue which is set up for USB. Then, with the Printer connected via FireWire, Add [+] a new Printer queue and it should set it up correctly this time.
To go back to USB, you would have to delete and re-add in a similar fashion later.

  • Using Lightroom for Windows 8.1 with Epson Stylus Photo R3000 printer.

Using Lightroom for Windows 8.1 with Epson Stylus Photo R3000 printer.  From PRINT section, if I click either "Page Setup" or "Printer" I get the Epson printer dialog box, drill down, change settings- so far so good.  When I'm finished with the settings and close the dialog box (hit OK) the print job starts immediately; I never get a chance to hit the Lightroom "Print" button.  Question: does this bypass any Lightroom processing or control of the print job?

Even if I just click the Printer button to verify my settings I should then return to Lightroom, and then click Print to start the job.  This does not happen, the job starts as soon as I close the properties dialog box.  Again, is any Lightroom processing or control being bypassed because of this?

  • Cannot print *at all* in LR to Epson 2400

    Hello,
I have a new Macbook Pro, Leopard (fully updated), Lightroom 1.3.1, and an Epson R2400 with the latest Epson 6.X drivers (which I went through the steps to completely uninstall all Epson drivers and reinstall them), and I cannot get a print to go to the printer *at all* -- I mean zero, zip, not even a peep from the printer.
When I send a print job to the printer, I see the job for a brief moment in the print queue dialog, where it says that it is sending data to the printer, and then it disappears, but it never prints. However, I can print to this Epson R2400 with no problems from Photoshop CS3, or other apps. Likewise, I can print from Lightroom to another HP Photosmart Printer. I can't figure this -- if it were a configuration problem or the printer was bad, I wouldn't be able to print from other apps to the Epson R2400. If it was Lightroom which couldn't print, then I wouldn't be able to print from it at all. I had no problems doing this before Leopard, and before LR 1.3. The lethal combination is Leopard, Epson R2400 and Lightroom 1.3.1 -- I have read these forums and it appears there's a lot of gripes about driver versions and print *quality*, but I'm not seeing any problems where people can't print at all.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Brad

  • URGENT HELP! my epson stylus sx105 stopped printing files, at all

I have a MacBook Pro 13" with Snow Leopard on, and my Epson Stylus SX105 always worked with it.
But now it's giving me this error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS /rastertoescpII faile
And does NOT let me print anything at all, besides print tests and stuff.
I tried to uninstall and re-intall the epson software (in the Software CD-ROM that came with the printer). Still nothing.
    What do I do?

    HI,
Try downloading and installing the 10.6.1 combo update.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosxv1061update.htm l
Remember to repair disk permissions after the installation.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
