Epson Stylus SX100 - what does this statement by Epson actually mean?

QUOTE: "Epson Scan does not support the UNIX File System (UFS) for Mac OS X. You must install Epson Scan on a disk or in a partition that does not use UFS."
http://support.epson-europe.com/onlineguides/en/sx100series/htmlx/aspec2.htm
Does this mean (hidden away deep, deep down in the Epson technical support section) that I actually CAN'T SCAN with this machine, in 10.5.5 ?

It means that to have a hope of it working, you must install the software on a system where the boot drive is formatted as HFS+ (Mac OS Extended). This is pretty common with Mac software; many drivers and apps won't work on UFS volumes. That doesn't mean that the software will actually work, just that it's guaranteed not to work if your boot drive is formatted as UFS. HFS+ is the normal, default format for Macs, so unless you reformatted your boot drive and explicitly selected UFS as the format, this probably won't be an issue for you.

  • What does "This computer is not authorized" mean?

There are about 200 songs I am trying to transfer to my other computer's library through home sharing that will not work because my new laptop is "not authorized." What exactly does this mean?

Try authorizing the new laptop to the Account that the 200 songs were purchased from. For some more info about the process, see the following document:

  • TA27500 What does " copy to play order " actually mean?

    what does it even mean?

In iTunes you can sort playlists by various fields easily but when you copy the playlist to a device the tracks will be ordered according to the Play Order.
If you select the leftmost column of numbers as the sort column then iTunes should reveal the current play order. You can drag tracks up and down this list to rearrange them or, having used one of the other column headings to sort things, right-click on the playlist name and use Copy to Play Order to set the default order for this list when copied to a device.

  • What does this statement mean: "There is a problem with your authentication, possibly due to inactivity. For your safety, you have been logged out and must sign in again to continue?"

I am able to make it to the site for about 2 seconds and then I am quickly logged off and the statement, "There is a problem with your authentication, possibly due to inactivity. For your safety, you have been logged out and must sign in again to continue."
I don't have a clue as to the problem but since this is impacting my participation in these classes and ultimately could have a negative impact on my grade, I am more than a little concerned!

  • What does this statement mean:

I am having trouble downloading and installing iTunes to my laptop.  Once iTunes is installed and I plug my Iphone into my laptop I get the following message:   "The iTunes Library.itl file cannot be found or created.  The default location for this file is in the "iTunes" folder in the "Music" folder."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and I still can get it to work.  The iTunes folder is there but when I try and open it I get the message above.  Can someone help or have any of you had this message come up when you installed iTunes?
Thanks for the help of any kind.
    Hines25

It could be that there is a corrupt iTunes Library.itl file that iTunes is not managing to either open or remove. If this is to be a fresh install of iTunes you could delete the library file if it is there.
    Repair Permissions
Right-click on the iTunes folder in "User's Music" and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If you had a previously working library on this laptop then try this...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • What does this Apple pop up message mean?

One thing Apple really needs to do is make their pop up messages that appear when doing certain things more user friendly.  Start by making them understandable to someone that didn't invent the dang iPhone, therefore, doesn't know everything about them either!  The one I got this morning has me completely stumped!  I have no clue what it's saying or more importantly what I need to do?

I'm sorry.  I' having trouble getting this posted correctly this morning. It won't let me edit my original post to finish what I was trying to ask.  I will try again here. I meant to post this:

  • What does this arrow shaped Status icon mean. cant find in iPhone manual.

look at this photo, http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/AmmY6r50acAF6NWNCGCHDw?feat=directlink screen shot of my iPhone status bar, the status icon that is in question has a red box around it.
it is a screen shot of my Camera Roll on my iPhone, in it is a picture i was trying to email someone. however at the last minute i decided not to send the picture and i canceled the email, which gave me the option to delete draft so i did. then it takes me back to the Camera Roll, and when i tap the image to reveal the status bar at the top that icon that has a red box around it is there, when i exit camera roll it disappears, and this is the only time iv ever seen it, i noticed this, and i repeated exactly what i did about 4 times and it was there each time. on the 5th and 6th and any more attempts after that it did not appear again.
i thought it might have something to do with location services, but the location of the picture from where i was when this was happening was in the opposite direction. and the status icon pointed in the same direction each time.
    anyone have any ideas?

Yep, it's for Location Services. I think they changed out the crosshairs and are using that arrow instead. That arrow doesn't act like a compass though... just a static icon.

  • WHAT DOES THIS HOT SYNC ERROR MESSAGE MEAN AND HOW CAN I FIX THE PROBLEM??

"THE HOT SYNC OPERATION WAS INTERRUPTED.  SOME OF YOUR DATA WAS NOT BACKED UP."
"(ERROR:  EASNotify.dll failed a confirmation query and cancelled the sync operation).
HotSync Error:  An application cancelled synchronization or failed to respond to a HotSync notification.  Please ensure that you are not currently editing data using applications such as Palm OS Desktop of Install Tool.  (8009)"
I have spent hours upon hours trying to figure out what is wrong and why I cannot complete a hot sync with my computer.  I have done a hard reset and reinstalled the palm desktop software numerous times with no luck.  I bought a book on the palm.  No mention in the book about this particular problem.
Can anyone out there help me with this problem???  I would be forever grateful!!

To check which applications are installed on your palm, you can click on the home button on your palm and make sure it says "all" on the top right of your screen. This will show you all the apps installed on your palm. Look through all the applications listed there and see if there is anything extra. You can list them here and I will tell you if there is anything that didnt come with your device when you purchased it.
You will not need the palm cd to reinstall everything again after you do a hard reset because all the info will be backed up on your computer from your sync. You stated that all the information is on your computer after you sync'd so you dont have to worry about losing it. Once you sync again after performing the hard reset, you will be able to get all the info back again on your palm.

So what is up with this error message in Muse?
MuseJSAssert: Error calling slector function:SecurityError: Failed to read the ‘contentDocument’ property from ‘HTMLIFrameElement’: Blocked a frame with orign “null” from accessing a cross-origin frame.

This is a genuine security error generated by the browser when viewing a page with iFrame content locally.

  • What does this Application Uploader error specifically mean?

Application failed codesign verification. The signature was invalid, contains disallowed entitlements, or it was not signed with an iPhone Distribution Certificate.
    I don't know what it's telling me.
Can someone tell me what it means?

I'll tell you what it means.
It means simply don't move anything once it is created or downloaded.
Leave the development certificate wherever it downloads to.
Leave the p12 wherever it gets created.
Leave the PP wherever it downloads to.
That was all it took for me in the end. I wasted 2 weeks zipping unzipping running codesign on apps and ipas.
It takes me longer to upload an app to Apple than it does to create one and submitted it to Google and Amazon.

  • What does this Disk Utility warning message mean?

I just ran Disk Utility on Leopard 10.5, which is installed and running on an external firewire drive, as I still like the ability to run classic on my powerbook g4. Permissions were repaired but this message appeared:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
What should I do now, if anything?

Nothing. I think every Leopard user in the world gets this message.
    You can safely ignore it.

    74 $row_GetFeedback = mysql_fetch_assoc($GetFeedback);
    Any idea what's going on?
    Thank you.

Thread moved to Dreamweaver Application Development forum, which deals with PHP/MySQL issues.
Any idea what's going on? Yes. As the error message says, your link isn't a valid MySQL resource. In other words, it can't link to the database. Most likely reason: you have not defined your testing server correctly, or MySQL isn't running. See http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setting_up_php_05.html for details on how to define your PHP site in Dreamweaver.

That's a problem writing to the Time Machine drive.
As BDAqua says, verify your internal HD and repair the external, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
If that doesn't help, try the things in the green box of #D2 there.

  • TS1425 I cannot eject my ipod classic after sync with i-tunes on my pc. It states some of the files are being used by other applications. What does this mean? How can I get it to eject?

I cannot eject my new ipod classic after sync with i-tunes on my pc due, it states, to open files being used by another application. What does this mean? How can I get my ipod to eject?

If it's a one-time "glitch," you can try restarting your computer with the iPod still connected.  Try ejecting again after the restart.
If the problem recurs, you may have a process running (other than iTunes) that is accessing the iPod's storage.  When connected, the iPod's "disk" is like other mounted volumes.  This process may be some type of utility that continously monitors your mounted volumes for security reasons, such as to prevent access by malware.
If you know of such a program that you have running in the background, there may be a setting to exclude your iPod's disk.

  • When trying to download Itunes this pops up " key not valid for use in specified state" what does this mean and how can I fix it?

When trying to download Itunes this pops up " key not valid for use in specified state" what does this mean and how can I fix it? I am using a pc laptop if that makes any difference.

Try reading through this thread: key not valid for use in specified state. Possible solution involves moving the RSA folder. Rather than deleting it as aniwack suggested I'd try this:
For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again. This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.
