Epson workmate upate - rastertoescpll error

I have OS 10.8.4 and installed a recent update for the epson workmate 633 printer.  Afterward it fails and I get a 'rastertoescpll quit unexpectedly' error and nothing will print.  Printer page shows "filter failed".
Thanks for any help, I'd sure like to be able to print again!

Thank you! I have an Epson RX580 printer/scanner and a MacBook Pro. My scanner was working but suddenly, not my printer. I was getting the same prompt (rastertoescpll...etc.)  Followed your directions and now my printer is printing again!
My spouse has been using my printer. He has a Windows operating system. Just wondering if this could confuse my printer settings....???

I suddenly cannot print to my Epson NX230. The print queue displays an Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS /rastertoescpII failed
I have tried deleting & re-adding the printer as well as resetting the printing system.
I have also downloaded & installed all updates and reinstalled the printer driver which I source first from Epson & then from Apple.
I can print a test page from the print utility OK but can't print from applications.
    I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.8 and printing from Mail v 4.6, Word/Excel/Powerpoint:Mac 11.

  • Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4

Epson Stylus Pro 9800 errors on 32-bit Windows 7 with Adobe CS4
Question: We are experiencing some major errors with printing to our Epson Stylus 9800 Pro. Some of our large files are spooling about 16K, then crashing Photoshop. Sometimes we are getting partial prints (the left most 3-4 inches of print, or the file starting to print about 1/2 way into the file itself), sometimes it just spools for a few minutes, then stops, with nothing coming from the printer at all.
At Epson's request, we have tried the following:
    reinstalling Windows 7 print driver
    Reinstalling Adobe CS 4
    Installed NEW NIC in printer
Installed new network line to printer
Installed new main board on printer
Printed from a PC directly connected to printer via USB and crossover cable
This issue is very bizarre in that it is random and sporatic. Same file will cause one of the above errors, then, another attempt to print same file will be successful. We have several Windows 7 machines that get the issue, while several Windows XP machines are fine. Epson instructed us to install the newest (win7) driver on the XP machines, issue then affects XP machines. Uninstalling new driver and re-installing old driver on XP machines resolves issue on XP machines.
Is this an issue with the Epson driver? CS4 on Windows 7? Or some other malady?

  • Epson R2400 'Filter' failed error after 10.8.2 Update

After the recent 10.8.2 update my Epson R2400 printer fails when printing with a 'Filter' failed error. Everything was working normally beforehand (10.8).
    I've rebooted printer.
I've removed and installed printer in the control panel.
I can get the printer to print with the opensource gutenprint driver ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/ ) but it doesn't handle color profiles correctly which is just as bad as not being able to print at all.
    Any ideas?

Just to follow up. I've now confirmed this issue on several machines. The Epson drivers installed by apple will always lead to 'Filter failed error'.
Thie 2.28 driver available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398
After install it will fix the problem, but annoyingly after you install it software update will keep prompting you to install a new set of Epson printer drivers... don't do it, you'll start getting the error again.

  • My solution: Problem with printer Epson WF 2530 (rastertoescpll)

    Hi guys,
actually I start this discussion just to give you my solution, in order to help the others who could get this problem like me.
I tryed to do different thing, resecting pram, deleting all printer drivers and reinstannig them, but it didn't work anyway, untill I did what I'm gonna say.
    So, this is my solution:
    A)     Remove:
              1) The printer from Settings - Print and Fax
              2) All the files in /Library/Printers/Epson folder
              2) All the files in /Library/Cache/Epson folder
    B)     After that, I restarted my iMac and I had resected pram, then I downloaded the drivers package from here: http://support.apple.http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1398com/kb/dl1398
But hold on, because after doing it, it didn't work yet and the display gave me the following message, again:
              /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rasteroespll.app
              [etc.]
    Then
    C)     I removed file rastertoescpll.app from the folder: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/
    D)     I downloaded drivers package from this link: http://www.epson.it/it/it/viewcon/corporatesite/products/mainunits/driver/11988/ 15/374452
and I had installed it WITHOUT REMOVING THE DRIVERS I DOWNLOADED BEFORE on point B
    And now it works!
    PS: I use Mac OS X 10.8.4
    Hope this will be useful!

You need to reset the TC to factory and start over.. the old setup is locking the TC out of your new system. TC remember too much even with hardware reset.. the full factory is the way to go.
No files are lost doing this.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
    Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Redo the setup.. using the airport utility from one of the computers.
I strongly recommend you do not use the names Apple utility will suggest.. use SMB names as Mavericks is now set to SMB network protocol by default.
So names should be short.. less than 10 characters is excellent.. keep it to less than 20max.
    No spaces.
    Pure alphanumeric. No apostrophe.

  • Epson R3000 media mismatch error

Hi, I've loaded two types of fine art paper in the front media tray of my Epson R3000 and selected the paper type in the print settings that match the size of the paper (eg. A4 Fr.-Fine Art(Borderless- Retain Size)).  I've then chosen the relevant Epson media type recommended by the paper manufacturer (eg. Velvet Fine Art Paper). The correct back ink is selected and I'm using the paper's proper ICC profile. The paper is loaded correctly in the printer.  However, whenever I try to print the printer retuns the same error: "The media loaded does not match the seettings selected. Check the print settings or reload media." I've tried printing using the same configurations in both Photoshop CS5.1 and Aperture 3.3.2 (under OS 10.8.1).  The papers I'm trying to print on are Canson BFK Rives 310gsm and Ilford Galerie Smooth Fine Art Paper. The same error occurs for both papers.
I've had a good hunt online for solutions, but can't find any answers to what I'm doing wrong.  Any help would be appreciated.

I've worked it out!  You need to OPEN the rear door of the printer so it knows it's loadng fine art paper.  With the rear door closed it automatically thinks it's loading poster board - hence the mismatching media error.  I didn't realise the rear door was connected to the printer's brain to that extent.
Hopefully this will help someone else who faces the same predicament one day.  Thanks to anyone who mulled over my problem anyway.

  • Epson Artisan 810 comm error

When scanning with the 810 from its control panel for "scan to email",as soon as I push on the scan to email via USB on the panel it gives a comm error and says to check if computer is connected.
This is the second 810 to do the same thing. Unistalled/reinstalled drivers, no luck. The scan from the computer to the scanner works OK without error but want to use the control panel for fast and easy scan to emails.
Tried different usb cable, same results.
Really am stumped. Epson tech blames IMAC software, Apple support says its in the all in one pntr/scanner. Epson says they have not heard of this problem before.
Am using new Snow Leopard on 1 year old computer

I have the same problem. Everything works fine, except that from the printer console, the only option for scan to Email/PDF/PC only gives the option for USB Connection (which is inconvenient for me to use). My MacBook Pro does not show up in the list like the photos in the instructions.
I tried installing "Drivers and Utilities Combo Package - Network" dated 1/04/10, from Epson's site, file epson13616.dmg, to no avail.
The Artisan 810 is connected by ethernet to my Time Capsule (internal network) and the MBP is connected by wireless to the same network. It will scan fine from the application on the Mac, but not from the unit's console. Really disappointing, since instead of putting something on the printer, and punching a couple buttons, you have to put it on there, go to the computer (on the other side of the room for me), pull up the software, scan, then go back to the printer to remove the item (or flip the page!)

  • Epson Artisan 810 gives error when prints from 10.6.2

I know that Epson update 2.2 was released for 10.6.1. But it doesn't seem to help when printing from any application with 10.6.2. Should I downgrade back to 10.6.1? I have an Artisan 810 that won't print from 10.6.1 on a MacBook Pro that came out in September of 2009. It will print a sample page from the utility, and run the print head cleaning utilities, but won't print a document. It makes some indication that it can't deal with a postscript file in the error in the print queue the moment I send a print job from Neo Office or Safari. I'm connected via USB. Eventually I'd like to figure out how to add it to my Time Capsule's 802.11n network if possible. But first let's get it working under USB.

I just went through this and seriously considered publishing the directions so I reckon this is my chance.
When all was said and done, I only used the Epson utility to remove all of the installed Epson software, did not use any drivers as provided by them, including the already installed Photo R280 drivers for my other printer, and started over.
Once done, I used the OSX Print & Fax System Preference to install the 810 as a new printer and let Software Update do its thing. It seems to load and install everything needed to make the thing work. Most of the Epson stuff seems useless and I find that the OSX Image Capture utility does a great job of running the scanner part.
The most important thing I learned is that the directions and utilities as provided by Epson are not very helpful. The network setup utility they provide doesn't work at all on a Mac and looks exactly like the Windows XP version. I got very frustrated and simply accessed the menus myself on the 810's control panel and joined it with the wireless network manually. It was way easier and less frustrating then trying to get the Epson junkware working.
As an aside, there are a kajillion little plastic thingies that can break and cause problems in this thing. Make sure to register it and get the free extended warranty
Other than the installation pains this has turned out to be a pretty incredible little device. I already have a great scanner and an adequate photo printer, but I needed a fax modem, and for about the same price as the modem I ended up with a lot of other functionality as well.
You can always page me in the lounge if you need any further input.

  • Unknown Epson software causing permission errors

In Yosemite 10.10.2 have tried reparing permissions at least 10 times but am still getting the same error messages for some Epson printer and fax software plugins such as Library/Printers/EPSON/Fax/Utility/Plugins/FaxPrinterSpeedDial.plugin/Contents/R esources/EditSpeedDialView.nib . I have never had an Epson printer nor software and would like to know if I should just dump the Epson folder in the trash. Any idea how it got there in the first place?

I don't repair permissions very often. Only did so many times to get rid of that error hoping it will make the system more stable.
I noticed there are also Brother, HP, Lexmark, PPDs and Samsung's folders in the Printers library. Looks like they come along with Yosemite.
In any case I deleted the Epson one and don't get the error any more so thank you very much.

  • Epson R220 DVD tray error - any ideas?

I have a Epson R220 for printing DVD labels, using the Epson Print CD software.
It worked for a while, but now the tray keeps ejecting with a message "CD/DVD tray not aligned". I'm careful to place the tray under the rollers, and align the marks.
The manual says clean the rollers by feeding sheets of paper....didn't help.
    Any suggestions?

Maybe that's the same thing that your process accomplishes.
Sounds like a feeder issue on the printer and nothing to do with cleaning the print heads themselves (which the folded paper would help address in most cases).
Regardless ... Glad it's working ok for you now.

  • Print Error Msg re: "rastertoes" using Epson 1400 and Adobe Lightroom

I am unsure if this is a _Mac OS_ issue, an Adobe issue or an Epson issue. I am using an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 with Lightroom 2.6. I successfully printed a snapshot but all subsequent efforts produced the following error message through the Epson printer app:
    "Error/Library/Printers/Epson/InjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/M acOS/rastertoescpll failed"
Have reloaded Snow Leopard drivers from Epson, gone through variations of printer set-ups, re-booted, etc. Still the same message.
I would sincerely appreciate someone's help.

    John,
I deleted the <hard drive>/Library/Printers/EPSON folder. There wasn't any <hard drive>/Library/Caches/Epson folder unless it was eliminated with the first deletion.
Deleting the /Library/Printers/EPSON folder won't delete the Epson folder in /Caches. Did you do a search for this folder or manually try to find it? Are you looking in the hard drive's Library folder and not your home directory's?
As for "deleting the printer," I note that the Epson 1400 is still a pull down Print option in multiple apps. Is there a way to delete it so it doesn't show anywhere, or will the printer remaining attached (USB) to the computer cause it to be shown?
Go into System Preferences, Print & Fax Prefs, select the printer and hit the '-' sign at the bottom of the printer list.
This is a helpful introduction to printing:

How do I download an update, and how do I know it will discern that the Epson printer apps and drivers are missing?
Use Software Update under the Apple menu to download the update. The software will see that the printer is connected but that there's no software (since you deleted the /Library/Printers/EPSON folder), and it will ask you if you want to download the most recent update. Doing so will replace the contents of the Library/Printers/EPSON. After installing the update, restart, then re-add your printer using the Epson driver.
    Thanks,
You're welcome. I hope this helps. john

  • Epson R2880 - 'Communication Error' and Partial Printing

I am having trouble printing with my Epson R2880 printer on my iMac running OS X 10.6.4 with the most recent software updates.
The printer stops printing or prints about an eighth of the document and then gives a "Communication Error" message. It also gives a the error "Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS/ rastertoescpll"
This problem occurs regardless of the program I am using. I have tried printing from Adobe Photoshop CS4, Microsoft Word and Text Edit.
I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer. I have the most recent software update installed (driver 8.27).
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver countless times as well as unplugged the USB cables and reset the print system multiple times.
I have also "repaired disk permissions" to no avail.
I can print with no problem to my HP printer. I am most desperate for assistance.
Thanks so much to anyone with any ideas!

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
From your description, there appears to have been a problem while updating the printer driver. We would recommend contacting Epson technical support to determine where the issue is and hopefully resolve it. The direct number for your product is 562-276-7272.

  • Epson P660 - "rastertoescpll failed"

    Hi there ppl!
I've searched on web and ppl that got this error, said, uninstall and reinstall, or, just remove from printers&fax and re-add. But this didnt work for me.
Simple the printer was working on a earlier instalation, i've format my mac recently and since then, my printer is not working.
I can see the printer suplys and even send a test page (through the configuration panel), but when i try to print anything that comes from the mac, i just can it gives me the following error:
    Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS /rastertoescpll failed
    Any idea what did happen?
    Thank you

    Found the solution.
1 - Go to "Printers & Fax" in "System Preferences" delete the Espon there (PX660, or yours), just click on the printer and then on "-".
2 - Turn off the printer, and unplug the USB cable
    3 - Delete:
    for printer delete:
    /Library/Printers/Epson/ (complete folder)
    /Library/Printers/Receipts/<printer name>.pkg
    /Library/Printers/Receipts/EpsonPrinterDrivers.pkg
    /Library/Printers/Receipts/EsponPrinterDrivers2.pkg
    /Applications/Epson Printer Utility/ (complete folder)
    for scaner delete:
    /Library/Preferences/Epson/Epson Scan
    /User/<your user>/Library/Preferences/Epson/Epson Scan
    /Library/Application Support/Epson Scan
/Library/Image Capture/Twain Data Sources/ (delete only the items of Epson)
    /Applications/Epson Scaner Monitor (*)
    /Library/Image Capture/Devices/Epson Scaner
(*) the epson scaner motitor will give u an error. to fix that erro go to:
apple -> System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Items and then remove the monitor from the list, select it an then "-"
    * the names can be not identical, i dont have the english version intalled on my mac, so i donno if the names are correct, any way its easy to understand.
4 - Empty trash and restart the Mac
5 - Download the correct files for your printer from www.epson.com, download the driver and the scaner.
6 - Install scaner, then the driver. Just mount the downloaded DMGs open and execute the only file inside (normaly named Vise)
7 - Go to "Printers & Fax" on "System Preferences"
8 - Turn on and conect usb cable of the printer on the Mac
9 - If the printer show up on list remove it
    10 - Click on "+"
11 - It should show your printer, and your scaner (seperatly). If you have more than 1 printer (of the same), in my case i got:
    A - EPSON Epson Stylus Photo PX660
    B - EPSON Epson Stylus Photo PX660-1
C - EPSON pX660 (this is the scaner)
Add B and C, or if you otherwise add the ones you have.
For me the B and C were the ones that worked, if the B doesnt work for you, remove it, restart the Mac again, and add the A.
    It should work now.
If it still is not working.
    Try to repair disk permissions.
