Epson XP610 Prints Dark. ColorSync?

I recently setup a MacBook for my mom and sister. My mom was very disappointed to find that, when she prints photo enclosed with Email on the Epson XP610 she bought with it, it printed really dark. That almost to the point where she wanted to return the entire Mac system. Needless to say, that reaction took me by surprise, but obviously, getting accurate photo printing from Email is very important to her.
Anyway, I seem to vaguely recall that ColorSync has something to do with that? That is, more or less along the lines of setting up HSV/RGB/CMYK mapping profiles for each graphic device? The hope then being that I can edit the ColorSync profile for that printer, so that it dictates that any photos printed to it needs to be brightened up in the process of printing.
Am I on at least vaguely the right track there? If so, I'll read all about ColorSync. If not, anything else - other than of course importing the pictures into iPhoto (or whatever) so forth? The hope is that we can make all photos automatically print brighter.

You're on the right track with ColorSync. Basically, it's all about using the correct profiles.
1. Check and set the monitor profile. Open the System Preferences and click on Displays, then the Color tab. Unless you've created other monitor profiles yourself, there should be one profile name at the top of the list above a gray dividing line. That's the monitor profile pulled from the panel itself and is the factory default profile. It's a typical 6500K, 2.2 gamma profile. If it's not already highlighted (a gray bar across the whole thing), select it and close the System Preferences. Do not use other RGB profiles which may be in the list that have nothing to do with monitors, such as Adobe RGB, sRGB, ColorMatch RGB, etc.
2. All profile types (monitor, digital camera, scanner, printer) are very device specific. That's actually the whole idea. Each one represents a mathematical representation of the color response of the device the profile was created for. Printers go even further since you aren't just profiling the device, but also which paper you used. That's why there are so many profiles for the same printer. The inks will behave differently and produce different color on different papers.
These are the profiles installed by the XP-610's software:

There's actually a bunch of profiles for the XP-950 in the same package, but I'm going to assume the software detected what model printer you have and didn't install those.
As an example, note that there's Glossy, and Photo Glossy choices. These are two versions of gloss Epson papers you can buy, and the profiles are NOT interchangeable. No matter what paper you use, how the ink reacts to the paper is going to be different with each paper and will produce different color results. Don't in any way expect HP Gloss paper to work the same as Epson Gloss paper, even if you choose the same profiles for both papers. It won't happen. Also don't expect an HP Gloss paper profile to work for HP Gloss paper on an Epson printer. The HP profile was created on an HP printer for that paper. If you want to use HP Gloss paper on your Epson, you need to create a profile for it yourself. And that requires expensive equipment to do.
From professional printing companies on down to the dirt cheapest home printers, what paper you use affects color. Gloss will always produce the deepest, richest color. Satin/semi gloss papers a bit less so. Matte again less. Uncoated, dull. Plain paper, dull and blurrier (the ink wicks into the paper). It's just a fact of how ink works with each paper type. There's no fix or trick to make plain paper look like gloss or semi-gloss.
Also, always remember the monitor is a light emitting RGB source that will always, always display brighter and richer colors than even the best paper you can buy. Paper is reflective light, and will never look as luminant as your monitor (unless you turn the brightness on the monitor WAY down). The bigger reason is that most printers (yours included in this case) use Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black inks, which do not even come close to covering the color range of RGB. So as a for instance, don't ever expect to see a very bright, saturated blue on the monitor to look like that on any paper.
So, now with a little color background knowledge, you can probably guess what to do to improve your color output.
3. Choose to print the email. When the dialogue for printing comes up, make sure to click the expansion arrow so you see more than the minimal choices. Under the paper size is a drop down menu. Click on the that and choose Color Matching.
Make sure the ColorSync radio button is chosen and then choose Other Profiles. Scroll through the list to select the Epson profile that matches the Epson paper you're using. I can't tell you exactly what all of the print option screens you may encounter since I didn't actually install the drivers, but I think you get the basic idea.
Now try a print. Does that improve things?

Lightroom 5.7, Epson 820 printer. dark images

I am using Lightroom 5.7 and Epson 820 printer. i have calibrated my monitors using spider3, no printer ICC and using multiple different ICCs in lightroom and all the same result. All my images are dark and washed out. Need help. If I export my images and print from MS photo viewer they look pretty good.

As to my printer drivers, after installing Snow Leopard, I was unable to print using LR2.5. The print would fail generating an error. I then installed the new drivers from the Epson web site: epson13113.dmg for my Epson R2400. This "worked" in that it did not generate an error, but would just transmit to printer and then quit.
Up to that point I had done a minimum of web reading, I just had seen that Matt K. from Kelby and others had been using SN and LR2 successfully. With my two failures, I googled extensively. I deleted all my printers, downloaded the new 10/22 Apple Epson drivers, re-ran the Epson drivers, etc, etc, etc, stopping and restarting along the way until I was able to obtain CS4 prints using SL with my Epson R2400.
At that point, I returned to my initial objective, which was to obtain (re-obtain, if you will as I previously had them) quality prints from LR. The early prints were harsh and less than acceptable, and when I got the "Sun in the dark" picture that I could quantify, I knew I had a definite issue and posted to this forum.
(I am assuming that my deletion of the profiles while seeking to update driver is how I generated my initial inconsistency that was part of my original post).
I now looks like I had a color space problem. I have deleted and re-generated the psd "Edit in Photoshop" image. Again, on the screen, the edit and the original appear identical and as the CS4 print is correct, I am left, it appears to me, with a LR2.5 printing issue unless I can find some configuration issue. The two pictures are definitely different with the flesh tone pink and some of the background colors "lighter" in the LR2 print.
(As a side, I don't think this would matter, the original pics were taken as raw nef from a D700 camera using a 105mm VR2 macro lens).

The Epson 3800 printing dark problem Windows XP and 7

CS-4 on a dual boot machine that used to have an Epson 2200 (it died) connected that didn't have the problem with some of the same files.
Like many, I am having the "prints too dark problem. Does the European driver v. 6.61 September 3, 2009 (US driver is 6.50) solve the problem?
The copy the layer and set blending option to screen helps a bit.
Drop down to 8-bit color and lighten via Variations helps a bit.
Would transfering the files to another computer and printing through CS original or the version before that help?
I am following, step by step the manual, setting. Proof colors set to the paper, Driver shows proper paper. Driver color management turned off with Photoshop manageing the color, etc.
Any other suggestions?

Cured.
Uninstalled "latest and greatest" driver.
Reinstalled the older one on the included CD.
As I use Prophoto color space, now make sure that the gamma=1 in the driver settings.

Leopard + Aperture 2 + Epson R1800 == very dark prints

Hi,
Before I upgraded to Leopard, I was able to get very nice prints from Aperture on my Epson R1800 printer.
After I upgraded to Leopard, the prints end up very dark. A bit of additional info follows.
My monitor is correctly calibrated.
I installed new drivers from Epson's website (v6.12), and I verified I'm using those, and not Apple's Gutenprint drivers.
In the print settings I turn color management off, and than select correct ICC profile in the Aperture that matches paper and quality settings. For example, for printing on Epson Premium Glossy paper with PhotoRPM settings, I select "SPR1800 PrmGlsy PhotoRPM.icc" profile. Hit print, and after a bit of time the print comes out of the printer very dark. This sounds like ICC profile got dropped someplace along the way (in Aperture? in driver?).
If I go the other route, and let driver/printer manage color by selecting either normal or vivid options in print settings, and than use "system managed" setting in Aperture, the prints come out bright (maybe even a bit too bright). However, in this case the colors are off. Very off. Skin tones are especially bad with strong yellowish cast (people on the prints look if they were seriously sick).
Has anybody managed to get usable prints from Aperture 2 + Leopard combo on Epson R1800? Or any other comparable Epson printer (R800, R2400, new R1900)?
Searching forums, I found a lot of articles discussing Leopard and Epson printers problems for Adobe products (CS2/CS3/LightRoom), but not much for Aperture 2.
Unrelated question... I attempted to ask this in Aperture forum, but there was no post link. Do I need something special to be able to ask questions there?

Well, believe it or not, with the help of Epson support on the phone, I've figured this out. First of all, there is definitely a problem with Aperture's color management. What used to work (setting a color profile in the Aperture print dialog, and selecting "no color management" in the printer dialog) definitely does not work at this point.
If you want color management, what you have to do is select "System Managed" in the Aperture print dialog, and select "Color Controls - Epson Standard" in the Epson dialog. What this does is select the standard Epson profile for the paper you have selected. For example, if you've chosen Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper, the printer driver will use the "SPR1800 Premium Glossy" profile (Epson's standard profile for that paper, assuming you've downloaded it). Of course, that gives you Epson's version of what you want to print. If you have created your own profiles, using a spectrophotometer for example, you need to get the printer driver to apply YOUR profile instead of Epson's.
Here's how to apply your profile: Open Colorsync (in the Utilities folder), and select "Printers" in the Devices menu. Under the printer model, Stylus Photo R1800, for my case, select the profile for the paper you're interested in, say "SPR1800 Premium Glossy", and look on the right side of the window at "Current Profile:". Click the down arrow, and select "Other". Navigate to the profile you've created, and click "Open". This will set the profile you've created as what the printer driver will use when it thinks it's applying the SPR1800 Premium Glossy profile. Set other paper profiles (e.g., "SPR1800 Enhanced Matte") to whatever profile you've created for those papers.
Now, when you select "System Managed" in the Aperture dialog, and "Color Controls - Epson Standard" in the Epson dialog, it will apply your own profile.
Hopefully, Apple will fix the problem with color management, and we'll be able to go back to color management as it was before. In the meantime, this is the only work-around I've found.

Epson R2400: Printing Issue: Dark printing after 10.7?

This question goes out to all of the Epson R2400 printer owners whom, if you're like me and have had one for a while, seem to have printing issues after every little change in the OS:
In Brief: Printing to the Epson R2400 via USB direct from iMac was printing well; outputing from InDesign, PhotoShop, and Acrobat Pro (all are CS5). I am not 100% sure because this is not a printer that I use daily, but I believe that I am having these printing issues after upgrading to 10.7.2 from 10.7.1.
The issue is that an output is very dark overall, or (after tweaking settings) will have a dramatic color shift to heavy magenta/black. In general, my traditional printer settings no longer produce correct outputs.
Anyone that has any suggestions or similar issues, I would like to hear about it.
Notes:
1. Yes, I completed all of the tradional voodoo magic: I cleared the printer caches, removed the printer, setup a new printer, updated the drivers via Apple software update, then once that didn't work, updated the drivers from Epson - even reverting to the older v6.5 drivers. I'm now back to the v8 drivers from the Apple software update.
2. My printing tests are being conducted using a standard color test file that I've used to calibrate color on this Epson R2400 for years. I generally know that when this file doesn't print correctly something is afoot.
3. My first attempt at correction was simply checking head alignment and completing a general cleaning of the heads. Didn't help.
4. General question: Does anyone know of a compatible printer manufacturer of similar quality of output that actually cares about Mac users? Epson just never seems to really care about keeping their Apple drivers up to date or making sure that they work properly. Humble opinion.

Ok. I believe that it all comes down to the use of a third-party ink.
I didn't realize that there was a switch to a "refill" ink (to save money it appears) on the light-light-black and magenta. Switching back to Epson ink cleared the matter up.
I guess sometimes it's the simple things that elude us...

Epson R1800 prints v. dark despite many attempted fixes

i have an epson r1800 printer which i used successfully with early versions of PS and windows XP. now the prints are very dark with a greenish cast using both a macbook pro snow leaopard, and windows 7 both with ps5.
i import the pics first into LR3.
i have been on the fone for hours with epson high-level tech support and the best they/we can figure out is that the printer cannot handle the photpro color setting that LR assigns automatically. it only like prints that began as Adobe RGB 1998 and havent been re-assigned. those occassionally seem to work fine. but some do not. i have shots in jpg tif and digitized slides [tif] going back decades, so lots of issues included. nor is that is an all-round solution, but is there some way i can instruct lr NOT to use the photopro profile, but adobe rgb 98 instead.
if i go that route, my options then are importing into ps using smart object and opening in raw one foto at a time, a pretty cumbersome [and somewhat confusing to me] process. i do this in lr by choosing 'edit in' > 'open as smart object' and then in ps clicking on the thumbnail in the layers palette to open in raw. ot i can use bridge, thereby involving 3 programs. arghhh.
per epson tech instructions--and this was the first thing that gave me some good prints--i have set the workflow option at the bottom of the raw image in ps at:
adobe rgb 1998; 16 bit; highest mp available( 20 or 25mp even tho i am shooting at 18mp); 320 ppi. but it only works sometime.
or am i on the wrong track completely in trying to solve the printer problem. i have been thru many setting adjustments and nothing seemed to work until opened with the current workflow setting. i have tried, as both adobe and epstill darkson recommeded, having ps control the color and setting icm and management off. still dark.
if agsinst all recommendations i use printer controls color, epson vivid, i can get prttey good prints, but only if i print from LR. PS hates this setting.
i am awating a call from a high-level adobe techie.
my little head is reeling--and of course this all is after epson tried to blame OS, PS, LR, my monitor, and me. and adobe did the same casting about. but since the same dark image is happening with the mac laptop and windows desktop, none of these seemed likely. epson also suggested i buy another, newer printer, but then admitted that if the photpro profile was the problem, no joy.
any suggestions, help. i have gone thru much ink paper and hair tearing and dozens of on-line fora.

As remarked by other responders, this is not a problem unique to you, to Lightroom or to your printer; I have struggled many times, most recently with Aperture3 and an Epson1290 (my Epson 220 didn't show the problem at the same time, with the same images). Changes in driver, profile usage to names but 2 factors, all can screw things up.
My suggestions:
1. Make sure you have the latest drivers downloaded from the Apple Software Update window below the Apple icon at the lefthand end of your Finder menu bar.
2. use an appropriate profile for your printer/ink/paper combination; the only real solution is to produce your own, with something like SpyderPrine - I have one for each combination I use.
3. Select these in the Lightroom Print Menu at the right hand side of the window under "Print Job". Don't use "Draft Mode.", which doesn't allow the following choices. Underr "Color Management", put in your chosen profile and Rendering Intent (I use Perceptual, but, in my experience, they don't change things much).
When you click on "Print", an Apple print window opens, which shows the printer is not in control of printing; all the options are greyed out.
As an alternative, in the Apple Print Window, select "PDF". This will save the image as a .pdf, which you can print from Preview. In the Previerw print menu, select Color Matching/ColorSyc/Profile: and put in your chosen profile; when you get down to the Clor Management" option, coilor controls will be "off", showing that your choices will be used.
If things are working correctly, two prints, one from each route, should be identical; if they are not yoy have another proble, the basis of which I cannot imagine.

Pictures print dark from Elements 12 on imac27 with Epson R1900

Both my colleague and I cannot print pictures matching screen brightness. I have Elements 12 with new iMac 27 and Epson R1900. He has new PC and Lightroom with Epson R1900 printer.

This is a common problem when the monitor is set too bright. Hardware needs to be calibrated with tools such as X-rite ColorMunki or Spyder Elite. You can then match your monitor to your print profile (combination of printer, paper and ink) to ensure consistent results.

Color Management, Photoshop CS3 and Epson Inkjet Printer

I have been down this road before but here goes again...
Im using Photoshop CS3.
Im printing on an Epson Stylus Photo RX680 using Photo quality inkjet paper.
I know this printer is capable of very good quality prints.
Thing is I can not figure out the correct combination of color management settings to get a decent print out of Photoshop or InDesign.
I have read that you are supposed to turn off all printer color management and let Adobe manage the color. Doesnt seem to work.
I just get overly magenta images that look awful.
If I let the Epson color management control color I can get a lot closer but the print out is far from accurate or high quality.
So what the heck IS the correct protocol for printing to an Epson inkjet printer from an Adobe app.
BTW, I do seem to get a fairly decent print out of something like a PDF which I understand does its own postscript conversion before hitting the printer.
Is this what my issue is?
Does Photoshop or InDesign require postscript ripper software to get decent results out of an inkjet printer?

Have spent hours with both Adobe and Epson support people. I've read several of these forums. Is there an insurmountable problem with CS3 and Epson (2200/2400 are mine)? I have the Leopard patches and upgrade 10.5.4.
With Photoshop managing the color I get prints that are slightly underexposed and carry a pink cast. Color management is off. With the printer managing the color I get prints that are too green and dark. Epson advice here is to have color management off. There are two other choices for management but to adjust a perfectly balanced print to the printer's whim seem like cruel punishment.
Have a calibrated monitor and my CS2 works beautifully. Perhaps the best idea is to just go back to CS2 until Adobe and Epson can decide what to do. According to Adobe people, the CS3 gives much of the management back to Epson. According to Epson -- with CS3, you should choose the printer to manage the color (since this seems to be the trend between the two companies) but we users are not happy with the results.
What is the solution for right now?

PS CS4 printing dark; LR 2.2 printing fine

Printing with the same profile, same intent, same computer, same printer. PS and LR do the color management and the printer doesn't.
At some point with CS3, PS started printing dark. This has carried over to CS4. Lightroom printing is fine.
Ideas? I don't have a clue.

I apologize if people thought I was making political or some other kind of statement. Yes, help is what I'm after.
OS: 10.5.5
Printer: Epson 2200
Driver: 3.09 (found that in /Library/Printer/EPSON/InkjetPrinter/SP2200.plugin)
LR 2.2: in the Print Setting, I'm using No Color Management and in the Print Job panel Color Management is set to an appropriate profile from Ilford matching the paper, inkset, and printer, Rendering Intent is Relative.
PS CS4: Color Handling is set to Photoshop Manages Colors, the same profile is being used as in LR, Rendering Intent is Relative Colorimetric.
Driver settings: Color management is set to No Color Adjustment
I've tested with the same photo on several occasions. I typically use a working space of ProPhoto RGB. Images look the same in both PS and LR on screen.
Haven't done anything with a control photo. Don't know anything about them.
I profile the monitor monthly with a Spyder.
When I say that the prints look dark in PS compared to LR, I'm guessing it's around 2 to 3 EV darker. Color is OK.
A few months ago, when I profiled my monitor (iMac), I set the gamma to 2.2 on advice from others. At that point, I noticed that my prints were dark. I subsequently profiled it back to 1.8. I believe that printing with PS CS3 was fine at that point. I wasn't printing with LR then. I upgraded to PS CS4. I may have changed my default color space from Adobe RGB to ProPhoto RGB. But, I would think that it would just get out of gamut issues if this was the problem.

Unable to install Epson ICC printer profiles in Lion (access privileges message)

I upgraded to Lion and cannot install Epson ICC printer profiles. When I try to install, the installation is halted with the message that I do not have enough access privileges for this installation. Yes, I am the admin (I checked, as I know this is a known issue). I have the current updates to the O/S and the Epson driver. Specifically, these are printer paper profiles for an Espon Stylus Photo R2800 printer.

The ownership of the /Library/ColorSync directory and its contents changed in Lion. You acutally do not have enough priviliges as admin to write to that directory anymore. EPSON's installer does not have the ability to ask you for your password to escalate the admin privileges to root. You should report this to EPSON and insist that they update their installer.
There is a way to get the files installed, but it is pretty involved. I will give you the general idea but USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. There is a risk you could break your system and make it unusable.
With those admonitions in mind, here's the general outline.
1. Go to /Library/ColorSync. Highlight the folder and do a Get Info on it.
2. Under the Sharing & Permissions portion, give "everyone" the ability to Read & Write. Then choose to have this applied to all enclosed items.
3. Run the EPSON installer(s). The profiles will now install.
4. Change the ownership and permissions for all the installed items useing the Terminal--
For the EPSON folder the command is 'sudo chown -R root:wheel path_to_EPSON_folder'
For each and every item in the EPSON folder, the command is 'sudo chmod 644 path_to_item'
5. Open Disk Utility and Repair Permssions.

Photo printing darker

Hi
I use Pagemaker 7.0 to make greeting cards.
Previously I've printed these cards on an Epson Photo Stylus 820 inkjet printer and have had very minor differences in the colour or b&w quality from PhotoShop to PageMaker.Usually I have to adjust the contrast less than 10%.
I now use an Epson R2400 printer, both the colour & b&w are much darker and the colour is off. When I print the same images in PhotoShop I get very little variation from what I see on my monitor
I have my monitor calibrated using Spyder2Pro and have the settings on photoshop as recommended in the instruction booklet for the printer.
I can't seem to set up PageMaker to accept the same settings that I have in PhotoShop CS
Any help will be appreciated

Thanks, Barbara B! After spending about an hour on the phone with Epson today, I think I may have my problems solved. I'd previously exchanged a series of emails with Epson; but the people supposedly handling the problem seemed like they weren't listening to the problems I was having & were just giving me stock answers - like do a nozzle check. When I called, I was fortunate to get a guy who actually read my emails, listened to me & understood my issues & helped me fix the situation (or so it appears right now). Customer service in corporations may be on it's death bed; but if you're lucky, you sometimes get someone who actually takes it seriously.

Epson 2880 Print Paper Profiles

Hi Folks,
I just bought an Epson 2880 printer and also downloaded some Icc paper profiles for it from Epson. On install(double-clicking) on the zipped files all but one of them went through and install process, and now show up when I select printer profiles from within Photoshop CS4. The other just unzipped a file that was put into my downloads folder and says, "colorsync" on it. Where should this Icc profile be placed so it shows up properly in my CS4 profile selections?

Drivers for Epson 3800 printer

Hi, I am just beginning to learn how to print and would like to set up my Epson 3800, print from Lightroom, using Leopard. From reading all the issues folks have had, my first question is this: Should I even download the drivers that came with the printer, or do I use the new ones available on the Epson site? I gather paper profiles are included on the CD that came with the printer--would those also be on the download from the Epson site? Having never set up a printer to begin with, any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK ... A difference! In ColorSync Utility, I clicked on Devices, expanded Printers->Epson Stylus Pro 3800->Pro38 PLPP. Then, clicked the drop down for "current profile" associated with this paper, and chose Other and navigated to the Pixel Genius Epson Exhibition Paper profile, because this is the profile I want to use with EFP paper from LR. The driver paper selection is PLPP. Now it's associated with the profile I want to use. If I were to ever want to use PLPP paper, I would have to remember to reverse this in ColorSync I presume. NOW ... I went into LR and proceeded as if I would print using the PG profile from LR. When I went into the driver, I clicked on Preview and low and behold .... NO more green cast!! I can assume the output to the printer would be OK. Whether the PG profile is doing its job from LR, I don't know for sure. It looks from Preview the same as if I had specified Pro38 PLPP in LR. Anyone??
EDIT: I've CONFIRMED it! The ColorSync workaround DOES fix the 3rd party profile problem in LR! I specified Pro38 PLPP as the profile in LR, compared it with the PG Preview and there was a difference, proving that the PG profile was being used to render the print output from LR, now without the color cast.
BINGO! Just printed out the previous problem image, and it printed exactly as shown in Print Preview specifying the PG profile in LR for Epson EFP (which says to use PLPP in the driver, but that paper is now associated with the PG profile via the ColorSync Utility). At least there's a workaround fix to the the color shift problem printing from LR!
TIP: As learned from Jeff Schewe in his Camera to Print tutorial, remember to set Print Sharpening to High in LR to achieve printer output sharpening.

Ihave an ipad and an epson nx430 printer. I tried to print my airline itinerary and it printer 4 pages that was mostly ads. How can i print just the itinerary which fits on oneage?

I have an ipad2 and an epson nx430 printer. I tried to print my airline itinerary and it printer 4 pages ,most ofwhich were ads. How can i focus just on the information that i need?

Does the website you're using offer a "printer freindly" button or perhaps the faciltiy to email the intenerary to yourself?

You may want to try reinstalling Mavericks. Airport Utility installed by Mavericks may no longer connect to your older AEBS (though I've not heard that.) Installing the Old AirPort Utility (Version 5.6) on Mountain Lion | frank.is.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
     Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
     COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
     after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
     Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
     Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
     Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
     Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select ReinstallLion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from
     the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
     Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
                three times faster than wireless.
