EPub docs not displaying right

I loaded a couple of ePub docs via iTunes, and neither displays correctly in iBooks. After the first page, there are a ton of blank pages. It seems to think that the books are 1000+ pages, which isn't right. They display fine on my nook. Has anyone tried importing some ePub books and had success?

An ePub book is basically a set of XHTML 1.1 web files, with a bunch of XML files supporting them, wrapped in a zip package. XHTML 1.1 must be written correctly (if you ever write web pages that way, you may know what I mean). To be honest, I doubt that many of the ePub creators get it right (just like most web site creation tools do not produce valid web pages).
While Apple may change iBooks to be more forgiving of metadata like the invalid timestamp, they should not be more forgiving of XHTML errors. The idea is to let the ebook be parsed by an XML parser, not to include all the rest of the crap involved in handling malformed HTML. The book publishers need to get their books right in the first place. They have no excuse.

  • Captivate 4 shortens timeline - elements are not displayed right anymore

    Hi there,
I already searched the forum but couldn’t find an answer. Maybe someone of you can help me.
I have a weird problem with the timeline – in short: it changes.
I have some slides, based on imported Power Point slides. Within captivate I add some Audio (TTS), let appear images & textboxes simultaneously, add buttons etc.
Sometimes I extend the slide duration (for example when slide transition is set to automatically).
And now the problem that occurs: Captivate shortens the timeline – exactly to the length where the audio ends. Doing this causes that elements which are placed at the end of the slide are also shortened and not displayed right anymore.
This is shown in the following screenshot. On the left side of the cursor you can see an image element that normally should fade in directly after the audio ends and should stay for 4 seconds.
I couldn’t figure out when this happens. This means that I have to check every slide again to make sure that all elements are displayed right. Locking elements or the slide itself doesn't help.
Does anybody know why this happens and how to avoid this? I am using Captivate 4 and publish as an .exe or an .swf
Your help is appreciated. Thanks a lot!

    Hi Noel
If you click Edit > Preferences > Global > Defaults do you have the option Calculate caption timing enabled?
If so, that's likely your issue. Clear the option and your timing should stay put when you make edits.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Mpower max 780 lightning UEFI not displayed right and windows 8.1 no DVI-input

    Hi all,
I’m new to the forum, I’m very sorry that my first post is the posting of a problem.
I’ve read several treads just to be sure I’m not asking the same question twice.
In this case I have 2 problems, both are problems more users have issues with but not as a combination of both, that’s why I posted it.
    I’ll start with my rig:
    Intel i7 4770K
    MSI Z87 Mpower Max
    MSI Geforce GTX 780 lightning
    Crucial Ballistix tactical BLT2C8G3D1608ET3LX0CEU
    Crucial 2.5" M500 480GB
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.14
    Seasonic Platinum Series 860 Watt
    Asus VG248QE monitor
    The problems
After installing my rig myself I stated it up and everything worked fine.
    Installed windows 8.1
Installed a few games (I couldn’t wait to try it out)
Then after shutting down and starting up de the next day the problems started
The bios screen wasn’t displayed right:
    - Resolution isn’t correct
    - Getting art-effects when trying to adjust a setting in the bios
    - When saving, bios is stopt working with an error message that the bin file is incorrect
so setting up the bios is a big problem
The second issue is that when I let it go and load windows 8.1:
    - It shows the partially BIOS image (big yellow M)
    - Then the windows logo with the loading circle
    - Followed by a black screen and my monitor telling me that there is no DVI signal
    What I’ve done so far:
A windows 8.1 repair (so everything whipped) “fresh” install on my SSD then again install of the Nvidea driver.
This worked for a hours of gaming funn, with 3 or 4 reboots of the system (so I thought problem fixed).
Sadly not, I began to check the forums and found that I needed to run W8.1 in safemode to clear the Nvidea drivers en again install the latest version along with the Intel VGA drivers.
I’ve tried that but no luck on that one.
And yes I’ve tried to clear CMOS (several times)
I’ve tried to flash the BIOS but I can’t select my USB drive when I press F11 (so I’ll be trying another USB stick soon)
Getting the bootsequence to boot from USB isn’t an option also because of the bios screen issue.
Does anyone have the same issues, or even better does anyone have a solution to all my troubles?
    Thanx,
    Quasi

Ok it is in legacy mode then. Waiting for your report. If it comes up on the igpu also check the bios version. Would be better than guessing.
Oke tested the HDMI cable, after starting up finally i got a normal BIOS view again.
BIOS Version E7815IMS V1.2 (so it's 1.2 instead of 1.0) so much for guessing...
As expected windows started normally in high resolution.
So i think the problem is that the MB bios doesn't work wel with the videocard or the videocard is DOA.
any thoughts for the next step?

  • Fonts are not displaying right

I'm creating a website with Muse and I need to use Scandic letters. But they don't seem to work. I've tried both web fonts and web safe fonts but the letters are still not displayed. I have closed Muse and relaunced it with no success. I'm using the latest version. In previous versions I didn't have any problems like this.
The site is www.sumiaispiiras.com I really need help to solve this fast.

    Hello,
what I was doing was launching the website without doing it in Business Catalyst (through ftp directly to my web host using my own domain) however the fonts didn't work. So I tried to launch it in BC and the fonts were working perfectly there. After that I contacted my system provider (web host) and what they did was  that the added .htaccess file  "AddDefaultCharset UTF-8" to my homepage. So the problem was that they didn't have the same code as what Muse uses. So if anyone has the same problem, try to publish the page in BC and see if the fonts work there if they do the problem is not with Muse.

  • Fixed Layout EPUB is not displaying correctly in any of the popular epub readers.

    Hi,
After creating the doc in the Indesign cc, I exported it to the fixed layout epub format. The result was catastrophic! The images, text, font size - everything was chaos. I needed the epub to be working in ipads and android tablets.
Can anybody help? Need to deliver it to my customer on priority.
I tried the output in ibooks, Aldiko, ADE and a few other popular readers.
    Thx
    VJ

    Hi Ananda,
Adobe Digital Editions has come up with a new update ADE 4. You can view your Fixed Layout EPUB here. Please note that ADE 4 on Mac works fine with FXL EPUB exported from InDesign CC 2014, you might see some issue on Windows though. We are aware of the issues and the team is working on fixing these issues with ADE on Windows.
Readium is also a good reader which displays FXL EPUB fine.

    Pooja

  • Spry horizontal menu's not displaying right in IE9

Presently I'm using Dreamweaver CS4.  I have built a web site and placed a horizontal spry menu at the top of the web page.  It is situated on the page just below a smaller  non-spry horizontal menu.    In IE9, the menu appears above and to the right of this smaller menu rather than in the location I want it to appear.  What's more, in Dreamweaver the menu seems to float the upper right of the screen (I've attached a screen shot).   When I review the web site in IE 7, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari, the menu is correctly placed.
Can anyone help solve this issue?  When I view the web page in IE9 and put it into IE7 mode, all is well.  Not so in IE9 (or IE8 for that matter).
I'd appreciate direct email as well as answering it here to help others with my quandry.  My direct email address:   [email protected].
    Thank you!
This image shows you where the menu appears in Dreamweaver AND in IE9
This image shows you where the menu correctly displays in IE 7 (standard mode), Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Safari.

I'm not sure where you attached files (I have not seen a way to do that in the Forum), But I will try to speak generally and work with what you have posted.
My suspicion is that the negative top margin you have applied is messing things up a bit.
I also note that it is usually better to apply margins to a CONTAINER of an unordered list (which is what menus are made of), than to apply the margins to the ul itself. So, restore the margin: 0; to the ul.MenuBarHorizontal style selector and create an enclosing element that bears the margin:-45px 0px 0px 200px; though I would still reconsider the use of negative top margin.
It is entirely possible that this simple change will help.
Please post the HTML for the top of the <body> section, including the menu code.

  • Spry menu not displaying right in IE

Again, I am very new to Dream Weaver, I need help...IE problems...
my site looks fine when previewing in firefox, chrome, safari, when I preview in
IE5.2 there is a small white line appears at the top of the footer and the menu looks fine until I hover the menu bar, it stretches out of the left side-bar across the page.
When viewing in IE on a PC laptop... it's totally mixed up!
    Can you help?

I have had a look in IE7and IE8 and do not see any mix-up.
Having said that, there are a number of mods in the CSS that are confusing, such as
    ul.MenuBarVertical
    margin: 0;
         padding: 0;
         list-style-type: none;
         font-size: 100%;
    cursor: default;
    width: 11.75em;
         display: inline;
It may be best if you have a look here http://www.dwcourse.com/dreamweaver/ten-commandments-spry-menubars.php#one and compare that with your style sheet.

One of your many style sheets appears to be missing:

Why not consolidate those into a single style sheet?

  • Not displaying right on some PC's

Hello, I am building a site and have it hosed. It looks great
on my PC and I even have my friends look at it on thier PC and it
looks fine but, when I view it on my moms PC everything is out of
place or streched out vertical not horizonal. I set everything in
pixels not %. The only thing different about her PC is that her
font size is huge because she is OLD and cant see. Im just
woundering what I can do to fix this because I dont want people
looking at my site if it looks all streched out vertical not
horizonal. Any ideas? Here is the site
    R-Backyard (Under Boyds Bears
where it shows pictures with text and same with Products is where
    the problems are.)
    Thanks!!
    Chad

I would have to say that the author of this document is
    uninformed. In
general the entire page is off-kilter, but this paragraph is
    particularly
    egregious -
    =========
The problem is that percentages and em's (which are basically
    the same thing
in CSS) cascade very differently from one browser to the
    other - this is
especially tricky with nested tables and can create huge
    implementation and
display problems - getting these to work on all flavours of
    Explorer and
Netscape requires a lot of experience, testing and patience.
    An alternative
is to use several stylesheets and browser sniffing, but
    either way
implementing resizable fonts is a hassle.
    =========
It is true that one must understand the tools one is using
    before they can
be used effectively. But in general, the use of percent, ems,
    or font size
names are quite common on the web. When placed on pages with
    valid and
complete doctypes they behave predictably from one browser to
    the next....

  • Pictures not displaying right

I recently downloaded the program, as I wanted to try it out since I have an older version. When opening up pictures it comes up with multiple lines all over the picture, not allowing me to see it clearly. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Alaskangirl81 wrote:
haha....I got it figured out actually before anyone responded. Thanks though! Now if I could just figure out why the text I am typing is not showing up on the pictures!
Don't forget the video drivers too!
Regarding the text, make sure it is not the same colour as the background. If that's not the cause, reset the Type tool from the drop-down menu in the top-right of the Character Panel.
The non-appearance of the text may be due to one or more of a number of reasons and this should fix most of them. Does a text layer appear correctly in the Layers panel?

  • MRBR list - Docs not displayed even if there is a block

    Hi Gurus
Even if there are quantity and prices blocks in the MM doument , the MRBR list doesnot display the blocked documents.
As a result we are not able to release the documents and remove the block.
    1. What could be the possible reason for this?
    2. And is there any other way to remove the block on MM document without going   through MRBR.?
    3. Also if the Invoice is cancelled than the cancelled invoice too has the block in it.
Than does the cancelled invoice is shown in the MRBR list?
    Early Response is highly Appreciated
    Thanks a Lot
    Rgds
    Points would be rewarded definately....

    Hello Rutvj,
A payment block can be removed on the FI side and still remain on the MRBR output.  You can verify by viewing the change history on the accounting document that was posted as a result of the MM invoice.  If this is the case, you would have to manual release the block in MRBR.  Typically the process would be to resolve the issue thru MM resolution depending on the type of block.
If you decide to cancel the MM invoice, the originating invoice would be removed from the MRBR output.
    Hope this helps.

(instead of the above binary values)

What is object# 165170? Is it your table of interest?
Log miner produces the SQL necessary to undo the change and since it is using hex strings I would suspect one possible reason might be that all the columns in question are encrypted.
When you identify the object and list is create DDL that should identify if this guess is correct or not. If not then hopefully it will provide the necessary information to identify what you are seeing.

  • While adding KONA table in query(sq02), relevant billing doc not displayed

    Hi experts,
When I am changing an existing query through sq02( I am joining table KONA with already existing tables VBRK & VBRP and adding fields , Agreement number & Validity date from & Valid till) , after execution , query displays 3 additional columns of Agreement number, Validity from & Validiy to, but it ceases to display records of those documents in which rebate is accrued. It only displays those documents where rebate basis is present in condition records of billing item data, but zero rebate is accrued.
    Any suggestion are highly welcome.
    Best Regards
    Vimal

    Hi Vimal,
Unfortunately, it is not possible to find out the list of invoices which have accrued to a rebate agreement. This is true not just for rebate for also for credit management as an example. If you want the list of sales orders which have resulted in the open order value in FD 32 for the credit customer, it is not possible.
This is true for every other functionality which uses the Infostructure update instead of normal table update. It is because infostructure update is always cumulative and table update is always record specific. When infostructure update gets a new value, the old value is erased. Hence it is not possible to find out the entire list of entries which contributed to the total value and we can only see the total value.
To sum it up, it is not possible to find out all the invoices which have resulted in the accrual value of a particular rebate agreement. Also it is not possible to find out all the sales orders, which resulted in the open order value of a credit customer in his credit master data in FD32. If this has to be done, it has to be done manually by using a complex logic.
If you want to find out the invoices relevant for rebate agreement, you need to find out all the invoices created within a timespan, find out all the partners, material etc. Then find out all agreements relevant for this period (or involving this period) involving the customer (payer/sold to party) and the material. Then match both the entries to get what you want. That is lot of work and even after that, accuracy of data is in question.

  • After upgrade conky does not display right on first boot

After i upgraded my arch conky will display on top of all windows when i first boot the machine, until i kill it and restart it then it works perfectly. I am using openbox with no compositing.

conky reports the same thing as all previous versions, playing with the config did not help and no note of any config changes on conky's website. yes downgrading to conky-1.8.1-1 works for now but world like to fix this as it does not seem to affect my other computer with almost the same hardware and setup.
