Epub document in Marathi

Task - Create a marathi unicode document and export it to epub. The epub file should be readable on iOS and Android.
Problem - I have created an ebook using apple pages in Marathi Language. I have used marathi unicode font to do that. I have exported it in epub format. Now the porblem is the epub file is readable on Apple devices (macbook, iPhone, iPad) but not on android. Font is missing on Android.
What I have tried - I have downloaded Adobe indesign to perform the same task. It is helping me to do that, but there is a problem with some characters.
What I want - I want to know whether pages exports the documents in epub3 format. Is that the format right so that it will be readable in android. Is there a process to embedd the font to ebook in pages, so that I don't have to worry about it for different operating systems.
Please suggest.

I think you would have to modify the Pages epub to embed fonts. A google search on "pages epub embed fonts" might find some info on how to do that.
InDesign should work, but you may have to use the Devanagari font provided by Adobe instead of those provided by Apple to get proper display. Check in the Adobe forums regarding any problems

I would have assumed that Android would normally include a Devanagari font, just like iOS does. Is that not true?

I am attempting to upload an EPUB document to iTunes Connect, but each time that a login, "Apple ID does not have permission to use this site." What is going on?

I submitted an ISBN number and title to the iBooks Store using iTunes Connect.
A nameless iBooks editor replied back, reuesting that I submit a digiral copy of my ePub document to iTunes Connect.
The first time, I got past the login stage, but I was told that my title and ISBN had already been submitted and I was kicked, the second through sixteenth time that I attempted to login, the system reported "Apple ID does not have permission to access this site"
Can someone please tell me how to manuver around this roadblock?

PDF documents are blank but epub documents are not

Hello All;
I have an install of ACS 4. Installed on the following.
Linux version 2.6.28.1-xxxx-std-ipv4-32 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Debian 4.3.2-1) ) #2 SMP Fri Jan 30 09:55:02 UTC 2009
I have a production license and I am able to fulfill books - both epub and PDF.
However, when I attempt to download/view the books in Adobe Digital Editions, the PDF files are blank. I should mention that the PDF files that are blank, are PDFs that I grabbed from public domain sites (archive.org). The epub documents that I grabbed from the same source, work find in Adobe Digital Editions.
I would also add that the sample books that are included with Adobe Content Server work just fine. So, I am to assume that there is something 'wrong' with the PDFs that I have.
Anyone see this before? Anyone know where I could look for answers?

Digital Editions supports essentially the PDF/A profile (plus some extras see the FAQ at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/faq/ for the full list). The most commonly noticed thing that is missing compared to the current PDF 1.7 spec is JPEG2000 support.

You could try downloading a program called Calibre. It is very good at converting files between formats. I use it all the time to convert PDF's from work to read on iTunes when I don't want to have to keep zooming in and out to read the actual text.
I know that iBooks will read PDF's but they can get pretty squashed down some times. Especially if the original font was small to begin with. So I run them through Calibre and then email them to my phone and open them in iBooks.

Why epub document doesn't transfer to iTunes?

Everything was fine until I sync my iPad with the iTunes. The thing is I didn't experience this problem before, but now the iTunes (12.1) won't add any of the epub documents to the library.

Where are they not being transferred from and to ? If they are in the iBooks app on your iPad then you should be able to copy them to your Mac's iTunes via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option - that should copy epubs and/or PDFs that are in the iBooks app on your iPad, not just ibooks bought form the iBookstore. You can then copy them to the iBooks app on your Mac via the File > Move Books From iTunes in iBooks.

1. To confirm Adobe Digital Editions is authorized properly, take the following steps.
In Adobe Digital Editions, from the title list view, go to the Library menu and select Authorize computer.
If ADE is authorized, move on to #2.
If ADE is not authorized, proceed through the steps to Authorize it with an Adobe ID.
2. Reset the ADE folder on the nook:
Close Adobe Digital Editions.
Connect the nook to your computer.
Under My Computer or Computer, open the drive associated with your device (likely named nook (X:) where X is the drive letter).
Locate the folder .adobe-digital-editions and delete it.
3. Open Adobe Digital Editions. You should see the Device Setup Assistance dialog. Click the Authorize Device button.
Once you have completed the steps above, please transfer the title again by dragging and dropping it on the device icon in the library view of Adobe Digital Editions. The transferred Adobe eBook title will be located in the 'My Documents' section on the Nook. If you are using a NOOKColor, transferred titles will be located in the 'My Files > Digital Editions' section.

Zoom/Page Display - EPUB document

I downloaded an EPUB document from the iTunes Store. (It's a comic.)
I just want to be able to view this on my PC (Windows XP) - I have Adobe Digial Editions 2.0 installed.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but is there a way to zoom in/out like I can with PDF documents in Adobe Reader? The default display for this document in Digital Editions doesn't show the full page, and I just can't figure out how to zoom out to fit the full page on the screen.

Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to get all the libraries associated with specific content types.
I recommend to loop through all the libraries in the site programmatically, then use
SPList.ContentTypes or List.ContentTypes property to get the content type in the library and check if the content type is the one specified.

How can I convert a Word document to an ePub document?

I would like to convert a Word document of a book I've written to an ePub version that my son can load it into his iPad to read. Anyone know if there's a way to do that on my Mac mini computer, or if there is a program I can download that will do it?

My TOC in the epub document does not link to the chapters

I created a document in pages that I am exporting as an ePub. When creating the TOC, I have ticked "make page numbers links". However, when I open the epub file, the TOC that appears in the document 1) does not show page numbers; 2) does not link to the chapters (or anywhere else).
What is it that I'm doing wrong? Any help will be appreciated.

Try a restart of your entire system. Shut down both your modem and your router if they are two separate devices. Then restart each item one at a time with about three minutes between each device.
Also reset the iPad by pressing and holding the Start and Home keys together, ignoring there'd slider until the Apple logo appears.

Convert pages document to epub document

Prior to Lion I was able to convert a Pages document to an epub book quite simply. The option to convert to an epub book is no longer available. I see that I am supposed to be able to do this with automator. I do not understand why such a simple process was deleted from my Pages software and requires me to do something complicated. Any suggestions?

I am able to do it in Pages, and I do have Lion.
I just use menu File > Export > ePub
I never upgraded my Pages when I moved to Lion, because I don't like the implementation of Versions.
Did they really also eliminate the export to ePub, too? That's a shame.

How to get the page Count of an .epub document

How does the page is counted for an ebook in Adobe Digital Editions in .epub format and where the total page count is saved?

This is not exactly what I'm talking about. This is what is written about this suite in the documentation:
This suite allows you to activate, access, and modify crop areas in Illustrator documents.
Illustrator maintains a list of crop areas in a document, and these functions allow you to iterate through the list. The active crop area is the one returned by AIDocumentSuite::GetDocumentCropBox(), which is displayed with crop marks, and which is used when saving or exporting to a file.
That is, using this suite, we can select crop box of the document (area inside crop marks). I choose this area by using the function SetDocumentCropBox or using actions - PlayActionEvent( "adobe_makeCropMark",...
And how choose a page size of the document, which is selected through menu item Page Setup? Standard function SetDocumentSetup not works - as stated in the documentation, it can be called only in documents opening. :-(

Epub document q's

i made my first epub file for personal use and just to fool around to see what it looks like.
i do not have a tablet so the only thing i can preview with is what indesign provides, kindle app, calibre and
my lg optimus phone with kindle app.
image 1&2 is from indesign and what i expect it to look like on an e-reader.
image three is what it looks like default in the kindle app on my phone. the white border is
my question. the images are supposed to be tight against the left and right side of the page in indesign, thinking it should
look like this in the kindle app or reader. but when i view it on the phone(kindle app) it shows a white boarder on the right and left side where the pages are supposed to be all the way left and right. like a boarder.
i'm not familiar with e-readers or ipad. is this normal or should the pages like image 1 be filling the frame?

( approx. each image - images 150 dpi, 1275w x 1800h, 2.8mb )
all pages have separate articles.
export options - custom rasterization, relative to page width and res 150.
file sizes seem high- epub file is 24mb, mobi file is 21.4mb?
on the phone it seems a little slow and sometimes skippy.
other than that it looks great, even when it's zooms in all the way.
is the file size too big?
is there a standard size document for all readers?
should the document be in inches or pixels?

There's no such thing as facing pages in an epub. If you expect what you see in InDesign to be what you get in an epub you're going to be sorely disappointed. Further you need to be able to edit HTML and CSS to successfully and painlessly work with epub.

Can I convert an ePub document to pdf format and vice versa? If so, how?

I would like to publish my book in both pdf and ePub formats. If I create the book in one of these formats, can I convert the finished product to the other? If so, how do I do that?

It doesn't work to convert between PDF and EPUB, or back. Start with the same InDesign file and export separately to PDF and to EPUB.

How to specify a category for ePub document?

Logically, in File Info box. There is one of tabs called Categories, but it doesn't work, or at least I don't see any result in iBooks.
I have checked content.opf file all meta-data located in, but I hasn't found even zero reference of category.
No category mention in new Indesign 2014 Export dialog boxes.
What's wrong?

I do not have a definitive answer on this, but my understanding is that only a small number of the metadata fields in the EPUB are actually used by the reader - title and creator certainly.
I've played with adding values for all the other dc metadata fields and they do not appear in the iBooks reader. I believe Kobo supports a wider range, but I forget at the moment which that is.
The rest of the metadata about the book is effectively entered via the iBookstore submission process - and I suspect that includes Category.
