EPub to iTunes

I have ePub books in iBooks on my iPhone (not downloaded through iTunes).
How do I transfer them to iTunes when connecting my phone to my laptop?

If you connect your iPhone to your computer's iTunes then you should be able to copy them over to your iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases - that should copy epubs and PDFs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks.
If your computer is a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it then in the iBooks app on it you might then need to do File > Move Books From iTunes to copy them over to it

  • Some epub formatting and specified fonts are lost after uploading epub to iTunes U and then opening it in iBooks

I have been using DropBox to test my epub in ibooks and just recently uploaded the epub to iTunes U because the file size was getting so big because of the videos for the course that DropBox could no longer open it. My "com.apple.ibooks.display-options.xml" file (specifying to use Helvetica) inside of the "META-INF" has been working all along while I have been using DropBox to open it in iBooks. But ever since I uploaded the same epub file to iTunes U and opened the book in iBooks, the font doesn't show up as Helvetica anymore and my paragraph styles are also being ignored. I checked my css files and made sure they all said Helvetica, because my formatting for my tables is the only thing now showing Helvetica. After I unzip and make my edits to the css etc. and rezip and upload to iTunes U, does iTunes U ignore or overwrite files you have changed inside of your epub?
This worries me that iTunes U seems to be having problems with this, and it makes me wonder if I am going about this wrong?
My file size is 129.2 MB and I still have some videos to add to the course. FYI I am creating this epub for the iPhone because we already have a version with iBooks Author for the iPad, but iBA doesn't allow it to open on the iPhone.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

What is the name of your private site?
    -Thanks

  • Introducing ePub on iTunes U

We are excited to announce support for ePub in iTunes U Public Site Manager. You can now easily distribute ePub files for viewing with the iBooks app on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
ePub is an open ebook standard produced by the International Digital Publishing Forum which includes enhanced features like the ability to embed pictures, audio and video. In the iBooks app, users will be able to interact with your documents by changing the text size, font, and orientation, taking notes, creating bookmarks and looking up words in the built-in dictionary or Wikipedia.
Please note that ePub files must pass ePubCheck 1.0.5, include only files listed in the manifest, and use UTF-8/16 characters. Read the complete ePub specification.

    *Other features of this release:*
    · PDF files downloaded from iTunes U can now be viewed in the iBooks app
    · Addition of closed captioned tag for RSS feeds
    · Reporting updates, including new information on user actions
    · iTunes U Public Site Manager Help updates
*Looking for an easy way to create ePub files?*
With Pages '09, simply export your Word Processing documents as ePub files. Your work can then be distributed on your iTunes U site.

It's not necessary to post a second time. I'm locking this version so others may reply at the first thread you created:
Hi I created a EPUB with indesign cc and I'm trying to submitted it to iTunes Producer

  • I've added 1.8gb of epubs (per iTunes), but they take up 3.8GB of space??

I've finally dumped about 1000 epub books on my iPad mini.  The Book tab under my device shows 1.83GB of space used, but the summary page for the device in both iTunes and on the iPad itself shows 3.8GB of space being taken up by 'books'.  No other purchases or even PDFs are loaded.
    Normal?? Avoidable??
    Thanks!

I have never heard of the Windows 8 pictures application having the ability to move pictures TO an iPhone, especially to a location outside of the Camera Roll on the iPhone. In spite of my pre-existing belief that there is no such capability built in to Windows 8, I did an internet search and was not able to find any reference to any such capability.
Is it possible that the photos were automatically synced by iTunes without your knowledge? iTunes does have a setting (iTunes Preferences menu then the Device tab) where you can turn on/off the automatic syncing capability. Have you tried connecting the phone to the computer, open iTunes, go to the Photos tab and remove the checkmark in front of "Sync Photos From" and then syncing again to see if that will remove the photos from the phone?

  • Deliver ePub with iTunes Producer strange error.

I have a validated epub file, but when I try to deliver with iTunes Producer to iBookstore, I get the following error: "com.apple.transporter.util.StreamUtil.readBytes(Ljava/io/InputStream;)[B"
    Can someone help me out?

Thanks Valcolm, but it doesn't appear to be a problem with "iTunes Producer" since apps are submitted through "Application Loader" (another tool that comes with XCode)
I've been trying to update another of my apps, but I have the same error message "com.apple.transporter.util.StreamUtil.readBytes(Ljava/io/InputStream;)[B" and Google can't help me with this... I'll wait for Apple (I asked them via iTunes Connect, as soon as I have an answer I'll post it here)

I have downloaded a few ibooks (epub files) but have been unable to open them to read them. Any hints?

iBooks, as it says in the iTunes Store, are readable only on iOS devices; the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. They cannot be read on your computer.

  • How do I upload a book from SAP Press (epub) into iTunes to load into my iPad4

I need help, I'd like to upload an epub book from SAP Press into my iPad 4, I've downloaded the book to my computer and tried coping it to the iTunes libary but it does not show up for me to upload with iBook. Any help would be appericiated

Have you updated to the most recent version of iTunes? That's important. Then did you use File>Add to library within iTunes? That's how you add it. It should then automatically place it within the iBooks location so that your next sync will transfer it.

  • How can I convert a pdf to OSX10.8 so I can submit a manuscript to the itunes store. I have a windows computer only.

How can I convert a pdf file to an OSX.10 so I can submit a manuscript to the itunes store?

Perhaps you want to submit an "ePub" to iTunes?
If so then revisit the authoring files for the manuscript and go to ePub from there.
Getting to ePub from PDF is really rather awkward.
Lotsa "use me", "use me" software that purports to solve this; but, really, it doesn't.
So, again - - authoring files to ePub.
One example: use Word and Calibre.
    Might groom with Sigil.
Pipe out the finalized ePub to iTunes.
    Do the Snoopy dance.
    Be well...

  • Is there any way to put a book on itunes and sell it for a higher price than the pricing tiers?

I am selling my medical textbooks on paper for around $90-100.  When I was in the process of loading the epubs into itunes connect, the pricing tier maxed out at 39.99.  I sell other books in my field selling on itunes for around $180, which is similar to the paper versions.  Is there a way around the pricing tiers.  I have no problem with creating a new title if necessary.
    Thanks

  • I successfully convert a pdf into ePub and it can be read by iBooks. However on second run, all my converted epubs are not readable in iBooks! What went wrong?

I used Xilisoft PDF to EPUB Converter 1.0.4 by the way. I will understand if none of them is not working, but what really puzzled me is the fact the first conversion works, but not the rest. I had check all the settings, all the same.

True to that, I was not bothered until I realised my both pdf shelf is terribly cluttered while the Books shelf are empty, so I was thinking to put Western comics in the PDF shelf while the Japanese comics in Books shelf.
I finally decided to post questions here after I went through researches on troubles with epubs which sometimes are malfunction due to wrong coding of the epubs and itunes/ipad will not read those certain codes. I was very curious on that.

”
The issue: If I get this message, it means that I’ve already loaded my ePub into iTunes. iTunes inserts this code automatically into the file. Why? Dunno. Probably something it thinks it needs?
    How to solve it:
One way to solve this is to create a fresh ePub version of the file and NOT load that copy into iTunes before running the check. Make a duplicate ePub file of the ebook after it passes the test, and LOAD THE COPY into iTunes, keeping the original file pristine and error-free!’
