Equalizer for DDTS-100

Why doesn't Creative sell an equalizer for the DDTS-100 that could take in the speaker outputs, equalize according to preset buttons on the equalizer panel, and then feed the equalized signals through an optical output to the DDTS-100? I realize you could run everything through the PC, but training a non savvy computer user to deal with that is cumbersome if not impossible.
If Creative has no equalizer that is hardware based, does anyone know of any third party product that could take the three speaker signals, provide equalization, and then provide the equalized outputs to the speakers?

I appreciate your desire to hear the recording the way the creators intended to be heard. The problem is, you won't. You don't have the exact same speaker system they had, with its unique strengths and weaknesses, and you can be assured that whatever you play back on your speakers, it won't be what was recorded, at least not to a discriminating ear.
The point of an equalizer is to compensate for weaknesses in the playback system, not to remix the music to your liking. Of course if you occasionally try to alter the sound, that's not a crime either.
Anyway, your solution is to feed a DTS or Dobly 5.1 signal to a computer, decode on the computer, equalize on the computer, and playback on the computer?

  • DDTS-100 digital decoder

I plan to buy and use the DDTS - 100 digital decoder with a
Klipsch 5.1 speaker system in the living room as a home theater for the time being.
Just wondering, is their a built in equalizer of any kind in the DDTS - 100 that
you can access with the remote or from the main device?
I have read all about the decoder, but so far unable to find anything indicating
that it has a mixer or eq to adjust the sound with.

Hello i'musing these set of speakers for 2.6 years and now decide tobuy decoder DDTS-100 but there is a problem ca't connect them and creative labs are saying this decoder is compatible with all speakers from creative !!!
Any information how to connect will be wellcome many thanks

Just connect them using your speaker audio cable from the decoder audio outputs jack to the speaker system audio inputs jack. The decoder user guide should also cover some simple guide for connection too which you can refer to.

  • DDTS-100 Decoder with Inspire 5500D 5.1 Speakers (DIN Problem!)

    Dear all,
I bought a DDTS-100 Decoder today, thinking it will improve connectivity and sound quality of my Inspire 5500D 5.1 Speaker System, but I have run into a bit of a problem. My system has a sub which every speaker is connected to and I have to have the DIN cable connected for controlling the speakers and sub but the DDTS-100 doesn't have a din slot so my speakers will not power on when connected to the ddts-100. Is there a way around this or will I have to take back my decoder. I hope there is a solution as I would be very thankful.
    Yours Thankfully,
    Kyle Hunt.

  • PC and DDTS 100 simultaneously

Hello,I have an actually simple problem I can't solve with out help...here it is:I want to connect my PC Soundcard (Creative X-Fi xtreme Music) and the Decoder DDTS-100 to my Soundsystem GigaWorks S750. I realized this through the use of the Switch Box accompanying the DDTS-100. But: With this box I only can choose between PC Audio and the Decoder, thus it's not possible to listen to both of them simultaneously. What can I do?

Hello everyone. I just responded to a post in 'speaker systems' regarding the S-750. Read that for more details.
Anyway, I have the DDTS decoder with the S-750. It really rocks!!!!! Better than most mid level home entertainment systems!!!
I have all the connections filled on the decoder (Analogue, optical etc. to various things) It is not connected to my computer. It is my home entertainment system. My setup is where I have all the device vollumes set to there highest levels including the S-750 and I use the decoder to manage vollume levels.
The only problems I have had so far are 2.1 Once the decoder turned off when I touched it (Static elec. I guess) The other was I turned it on and no sound came through. I cycled the optical selection and it came on.
How is everyone else doing? I had the system for about 3 months now.

  • I-Trigue L3500 with DDTS-100

    Can I combine DDTS-100 with speaker I-Trigue L3500?

    Vvien,
The DDTS-100 speakers are meant for use with 5.1 / 6.1 / 7.1 speakers. If you're connecting from a soundcard, connecting analog speakers would offer no benefits. It is possible though, but you'll only be using one of the connections that is available to go to speakers, but it's set up to output sound for 5.1 speaker (or more).

  • Connecting creative inspire 6600 to the ddts-100 decoder

ok so i was sedused by the idea of getting a ddts-100 to my inspire 6600 speakers, but the fact is i need to know some information:
the first thing is:will i be able to connect my speakers to the decoder and then to the soundcard?
my speakers have only RCA jacks for the satellites to connect them to the amp,and the amp have 3 assebled wires,3.5mm ones...my soundcard have also 3 connectors for the speakers,no digital output or optical,..only 3 connectors for the 3.5mm...so will i be able to connect it and then will it be able to reproduce sound like it was doing before?
2-the decoder says it can decode dolby digital ex,dts es,i don't know if i am saying this right but, sometimes we say decoding in 24bits/96khz .....its the dvd quality right? then will the decoder DECODE the dvd source in 24bits/96khz or is it the job of the soundcard?
3-will the decoder improve the listening experience in quality or surround?in case of dvd playing i know it would, but in case of listening to music?

    shin8,
Are you getting proper output if you use the "TEST" button on the remote control?

  • Where can i find a DDTS-100

does anyone out there know where i can find a DDTS-100 decoder in the us i can't seem to find one anywhere on the internet every site says it is dicontinued does anyone have any INFO?

You're pretty much left with eBay. There's one on there now. It's at $62.50 with less than a day left. I searched everywhere on the internet for weeks to no avail. I even researched the international route, but it was way too expensi've. I finally got LUCKY on eBay and picked one up last week, brand new, with Buy it Now for $99!! It had been listed for only an hour when I got it. Chances are, you'll have to pay a premuim, since it has been discontinued. Good luck.

  • Question about the Headphone Jacks on the DDTS-100

This is probably a strange question, but I am goona ask anyway...
Anyone know whether the headphone jacks on the DDTS-100 gets Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Pro Logic II? I know it supports it for speakers, but I am unsure about headphones.
I am considering buying this with Medusa 5.1 Headphones, and I am trying to figure out whether the Dolby Pro Logic II would work with those.
From what I understand regular 5.1 Headphones do not use the 5 channels unless it is a 5 channel source like a DVD. What I am thinking is that the Dolby Pro Logic II on the decoder might solve that?
    Would this work?
    Thanks for your time!

Thank you both very much for your help!
Yes, I was considering pluging it in exactly as ya just mentioned connecting the headphones via the speaker ports, since the Medusa Headphones do have the same plugs as the 5.1 speakers.
Soo, that might work then? Cool! ty
Now that I look at it, the headphones instructions on the cords on the net mentions pluging it in exactly like that.
    Thanks again!,

  • European to UK Adapter work on a Creative DDTS-100?

    Hi
I got a Creative Decoder DDTS-100 of a friend but it only comes with a European AC power supply that has two round prongs and I need one for the UK mains, so I was wondering if anyone knows whether one of those European to UK Adapters would work with the DDTS-100 and if they would then what strength of fuse would would I need in order to power the DDTS-100?
I have tried a adapter my mom gave me but it only has a amp fuse inside it and it didn`t power the DDTS-100 so i`m wondering if it would be because the amp on the fuse is too low?
    Thanks for responding.

  • DDTS-100 Squeelching Problem

Hi, I have a problem with my DDTS-100 and i can't seem to find a solution anywhere. I'm Using the Promedia 5. with them. My problem is whenever i play music, watch a movie, or play a game the DDTS-100 emitts a squeeling sound from the front left and right speakers. when i play somthing louder, the squeelch is much more noticable and very annoying. I upgraded from the Promedia DD5. so i could get prologic II and DTS:neo6 support, which works really well by the way, but i never had this problem on the DD5.. If i hear the squeeling, i can pause the music or dvd or whatever and it will still make the noise. when i mute the DDTS-100, the squeeling stops instantly which shows it is the DDTS making the sound. if i turn off mute, the squeelch is still off until i unpause or music or movie again. then the squeelch starts up gradually, but quickly like this: ssssqqqquuuuuueeeeelllllcccccHHH. i'm pretty sure its not an electrical interference since if i plug coaxle from my dvd player and my xbox together i get a hum, which is differant from what i'm talking about. so its not so much a hum, but a squeeling. lol sorry this post wasn't very organized. but i really need help on this one. Thanks in advance.

(as I stated in the first post, I'm not using a computer or compuert speakes) I have an expensi've McIntosh system with Klipsch speakers and a Klipsch powered subwoofer.
Oh yes, sorry. The crossover is in the computer soundcard settings which of course, you won't have.
To test the sub you could try connecting another channel to the sub input, say the centre. If you hear the bass component of the centre channel at a decent volume level then you know the problem is not with your amp/speakers but with the ddts-00. If this is the case, then I think you should contact technical support. If you look here,http://forums.creative.com/creativel...message.id=722, someone is having a similar problem, but they clearly say that the subwoofer output on the ddts-00 works fine with movies, so maybe yours is faulty.
    EDIT:
I've found an examle of a crossover that is designed for 5./6. systems. I have posted a link to it in the above thread.Message Edited by pjc on 04-8-2005 0:32 PM

  • Help.. What sound card to go with ddts 100??

HI everyone,?I just bought my samsung lcd tv and i am very anxious to get the ddts-100. But the problem now is: What sound card should i get? Get a Xi-Fi Extreme Music or just a cheaper soundcard will do since the decoding will be done by the decoder. Can anyone advise on this? I hope to spend lesser on the sound card but if it is really needed then i will get good one. Thanks.
    Regards,Kekin

Bear in mind the DDTS-100 will only decode Dolby and DTS (and their varieties). That is, it will happily decode the surround from a dvd (assuming your soundcard and software passes it over the digital) but it will only get stereo when gaming or using CMSS for music.
So, the DDTS-100 is a great partner to a standalone dvd player, games console, and whatever else you have hooked up to the tv. It will also play nice when watching dvds on the pc. It has a good upmixer for music and stereo tv too. If thats roughly what you had planned then it will fit that role nicely. Its also more convenient than switching manually over to the pc (with the switcher box) when you want to use it instead of the decoder.
If you were planning to do everything on the pc then it may be a bit pointless as your soundcard and software could do it all instead. Also, i suspect the quality will be better from a decent X-Fi than the DDTS-100 but havent got around to doing a comparison yet.

  • Connectivity 5.1 to ddts-100

Can ne one help me? I got the decoder since last 20 days. Not getting the sound effects the way i wanted it. I m haivng philips 5.1 sonic edge sound card (psc605), and 5.1 inspire 5200 creative speakers and got new ddts-100. When i connect ddts-100 through my sound card i cant see LED of DOLBY and DTS fucntions on. I cant use or go the selection of DTS or DOLBY on decoder, even by pressing the appropriate switch on ddts-100. My motto for decoder is to play mp3 songs and music on PC. i dont want to run DVD or ne external sources with the decoder.. Well i can say.. with or without decoder sound effects stays normal. No change in sound effect. Well i m not sure, but i did analog connection and Coaxial connection with the pc. but still DTS and DOLBY function inactive on decoder. I can access movies , music, cinema modes from decoder selection.. but tat's no meaning to hear with that. I want DTS and DOLBY. Please advice me if there's ne extra cable needed or nething else must needed.. please specify exact thing to get these kind of setting on my decoder.

Ok, I will start from the beginning with the basics:
The DDTS-100 is a decoder. This means, it can only decode a signal and put it through to a speaker system. It is NOT an effect box, a soundcard, anything else than a decoder.
What do you get with the DDTS-100? The main unit, switchbox, cables.
How should you connect everything? You connect the switchbox to the main unit. Then, connect the soundcard's analog outputs to the switchbox. Then the speakers to the switchbox. Then any peripheral components such as DVD player, X-Box or the soundcard's digital out to the main unit.
    Now what?
You have two settings on the switchbox. Why? Because as we have said before, most digital out soundcards can only produce 2 types of signals digitally. That is a PCM Stereo signal or an encoded data stream (either DD or DTS). If you play a stereo source such as an mp3 file and send it out as a pcm stereo signal you will only hear it from the left and right front speakers. So if you want to send discrete multi channel audio from your soundcard you have to use the analog output and set the switchbox to PC-mode. This effectively bypasses the DDTS-100 and plays the sounds directly from your soundcard to your speakers. However, if you have a dolby digital signal or a DTS signal coming from the computer, you can set the switchbox to Decoder-mode, the soundcard to SPDIF passthrough and digital out and the DDTS-100 will take the DD or DTS signal and send them to the corresponding speakers + light the DD or DTS on the main unit. Make sure to connect the soundcard with a coaxial cable, an analog output cannot send out encoded data streams. The DDTS-100 will decode the data information and send the sounds out to the correct channels. It will not do anything else. It is not made to do anything else. The best thing when listening to music and games is to do it in PC-mode using the analog outputs of the soundcard. You can, if you really really have to, play it in decoder mode and use either neo:6 or dolby prologic II on the main unit to upmix the stereo source.
AC-3 is not a music format. I doubt you will find any ac-3 encoded music files since mp3 or wma are the most common formats. Your best way of finding AC-3 material is on a DVD.
I think the best thing for you is to find out what the DDTS-100 is meant to do, and what it is not meant to do.
