Greetings,
I asked this in the Elements forum with no resoultion. If it can be done I may have to go out and buy the full photoshop.
Background:
I have a group of photos that are very similar. They are posed graduation photos where the camera and background do not move. Only the subject , who wear very similar robes, changes. The exposure of my D-70 with a bounced flash wound up being eratic with some good subject expressions being captured under existing light conditions and dramatically underexposed because the flash didn't fire (took the pixs too fast and the flash didn't recharge fast enough).
The question:
Is there a way in photoshop to take a group of very similar photos that vary in exposure, color tone, etc.,
then select one master photo from the group that has the exposure, color tone, etc. that I want,
and then batch process all the photographs so that all of the photos are changed to match the exposure, color tone, etc. of the master photo I picked???
Another way of saying it, How do I make the common background of each photos above identical in one step (or as few as I can)???

don't know about Elements but in Photoshop i suppose that you could maybe use Image->Adjustments->Match Color in an action but it's a fake so don't expect miracles from it. Another way would be to just open them all in Camera Raw and apply the Auto setting to them but that won't correct the images based on a base image

Design issue with similar machines, but different Globals

Hi,
I know my questions about Global Variables has been up before, but maybe not in this kind of issue. The original coding has been done by someone else than me, but i want to change it. Now every machine has a folder and each folder consist of similar information as the next one. So there are 4 duplicate of every control and it's a nightmare to update the global variables in the total of around 200 files. I would like to combine the files so that only 1 file for "every action" would exist. So how should i do it. I have a few ideas but i would like to know how "the professionals" would do it.
I've read that you should avoid of using a lot of Global Variables, but i don't know if in my case i can avoid them. Some of them could be removed when it's a realtime test that's going on and during the test you can open the attached VI, so how other could you transfer the information?
System consist of:
4 hardware test machines
22 FP devices reading and writing
~50 Global Variables / per machine (50 variables per file, 1 file per machine)
The attachments contines of one of the VIs that i'm working on. I'm not sure if you can open it because it contains many subVIs, but you get the picture of what i'm working with. So any ideas how to combine 4 same VIs with different Global Variables?

Hi Englund,
you feed the cluster through the vi like your error cluster. In the subvi's you only unbundle/bundle the values you need!
Example (Pretty silly, as the 'Select' operation isn't needed at all - I have to kill a student for that ) :
The cluster 'Messvorschrift' contains about 50 values (partly in sub-clusters or arrays). You get the value needed for operation and write it back when needed.
This scheme is pretty straightforward - but has a problem: it leeds to race conditions when you access your global several times in parallel!
Then you should use a LV2-style global aka 'Action engine' - look for the last community nuggets in the forum!

To create multiple files with same content but with different names

Hi SapAll.
here i have got a tricky situation on Idoc to File Scenario.
in my interface of an Idoc to file ,there is requirement to create multiple files with different file names but with same content based on one Idoc Segment.
which means there will be one Zsegment with two fields in the idoc,where one field with (content refers to the name which file name should start with .so lets say if this segment is repeated for 3 times then PI should create 3 files in the same directory with same content but with different file names (from the filed).
so here for now iam using one reciever file communication channel.
can any body give me the quick answer.

What do you mean by different names?
when i make proper setting in the Receiver Channel....on how to create the filename (what to append) like add Timestamp, counter, date, messageid.....even in this case you will ahve file with different names and that too from same File channel.
You can perform multi-mapping in XI/ PI and then your File channel will place the files in the target folder with relevant names. You cannot use Dynamic Configuration with Multi-Mapping!
If you intend to use different File channels, then do the configuration as required (normal)...even over here you can follow multi-mapping.
Do not use a BPM!

i have got a a requirement where pi need to create 3 different files with same content but with different names under same target from a single Idoc.
its an IDOC to 3 File Inteface.
can any body help me in providing the differnt solutions for this without use of any script executions.

This is not possible to produce 3 different file names with single CC. You have to use 3 different CCs. unless you have going to use some other trick e.g some script to rename the file etc..
As I suggested in my previous reply use Multi-Mapping Or create 3 different Interface Mappings (by using the same MM).
Note: You have to create 3 different Inbound Message Interfaces (you can use the same Inbound Message Type) otherwise while creating the 3 Interface Determination it won't allow because of same Outbound & Inbound Message Interface. It will simply say Interface alreday exists..
So, just use the Multi-Mapping which is best solution in my opinion, because the benefit of using multi-mapping are:
1. You have to create only single Message Mapping
2. Single Interface Mapping
3. Single Receiver Determination
4. Single Interface Determination
5. 3 Receiver CCs (3 you have to use in any case)
6. Performance wise it is good (read the blog's last 2 para)
7. And last but not the least easy to maintain the scenario.

Importing files with same name but different extensions

Hope I will be clear enough.
Lets say that instead of sending a file from Lightroom to an external editor, I open it directly in Photoshop.
When I'm done, I save the edited photo using the same name but in a different file format : IMG_1333.cr2 > IMG_1333.psd or IMG_1333.tif, and selecting the same folder location.
Then, I come back into Lightroom and synchronise the folder.
Why is the knew version of the picture not showing up beside the original file, despite the different extension ?
I notice that the different extensions ( .psd or .tif ) are recorded in the sidecar files field in the Metadata panel.
Of course, everything works fine if the file name is modified ( or just by selecting the "copy" option in Photoshop's "save as" dialog box ). Lightroom synchronise dialog shows the new photo to import.
So, why is Lightroom not making a difference between files with the same name but different format extensions ?

I think your problem is likely that you have the option to stack the copy with the original turned on. First, right-click on one of these photos and go to the stacking menu. If Unstack is not grayed out then you have a stack -- select Unstack to reveal all copies.
To change the automatic stacking of edited copies from Photoshop, when you next choose to edit a file, in the bottom left corner of the dialog is the check box for unstacking. Clear it, and that choice should "stick" until you change it again.

Multiple entries in ARD with same ip, but different ports?

I always learn so much from these forums...thanks to all of you who take the time to answer.
I established 5900/3283 for my primary mac (mac 1) behind my router at home and then configured port forwarding to have a public port of 15900 mapped to the secondary machine (mac 2) at 5900. I have dyndns set up in my router and when connecting from the outside with ARD to the dns name without specifying the port, it connects to mac 1 without problem and reports mac 1 as the name in ARD. Great, no problem.
When I add the 15900 port to the dns name, ARD still shows the mac 1 as the name, but connects to mac 2. Can I fix this to correctly reflect the name of Mac 2? Also, it does not seem possible to have two clients in the ARD list with the same ip address, but different ports. Can this be fixed? Lastly, how do I connect 15900 and 13283 ports in one listing for the port forwarded mac, i.e. how do I enter xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:15900 and xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:13283?

Three types of restaurant menus with same dishes but different prices.

Hi,
I have to artwork three types of menus for a small restaurant chain. These menus have the same dishes and same background but different prices per restaurant. I will be sending three high res PDFs to print and would like to know if there is a way of doing this without creating three versions of the menues. I know I could create layers and have a layer per restaurant with the text boxes on, turning off and on as I create my PDFs for print but can I have text within the text block that I can turn on and off? Two text blocks, one with prices and one without, is not an option becaues the text all needs to run round together. The reason for this is if a dish needs to be amended it only has to be done once to the master dish. I hope this makes sense.

With regard to the data merge method I am not sure this would work for me because there is a lot of text and I need them to flow from page to page so would need all the text and prices in one text block (I hope I have understood your method correctly MW Design!). I have just had a look at the Conditional Text method and that seems as though it might work for me but one issue I might have is if one dish is removed form a menu all together then the text will run up from another block. I am sure there is a way once I have the master menu done to force the text to the next text block after the last dish I want on that page and then enlarge the text block a little to accommodate any movement of the dishes on that page, I will look into that!

Yes, it is possible. If one is CI (PAS) and the second one is an AS (AAS). In this case there will be only one database.
If you are talking about two separate SAP systems with separate databases (Eg: A BI and an ECC) with the same SID then the problem will be with the database (Eg: Oracle)
The database will be installed under /oracle/SID/112_64 (ORACLE_HOME) unless one database is running on 10 G and in that case the ORACLE_HOME will be /oracle/SID/102_64
The next issue will be with the SAP file systems like /sapmnt/SID
The most important problem will be with the switch to the sidadm and orasid users and the conflicts there. If there is a need to stop one of the SAP systems and if you do a switch to sidadm and issue a stopsap command which system will be stopped ?
These are few of the many problems I can think of.
So if we are talking about two separate systems with their own databases I would rule out the possibility of having two systems with the same SID.

Select data from a table and a view: field with same content and different type

I need data from a table hrp1001 and a view V_USR_NAME. What they have in common are the content of the fields SOBID and BNAME .
It will be easier if those fields add a same type but they dont.
Any suggestions for a workaround?

Specify the date format as YYYYMMDD in where condition.
Dates are internally stored in SAP as YYYYMMDD only.
Change your date format in WHERE condition as follows.
data itab like equk occurs 0 with header line.

I doubt check your data base table EQUK on this date for the existince of data.
Otherwise, just change the conidition on BDATU like below to see all entries prior to this date.

How to mass-reindex files with same name but different file extensions

(reposting cos I'm confused about if I posted in the proper place before. Please delete if it is a repost.)
So I'm on a remote workflow. I pick all the raw data and convert it in two quality standards, one on 'high' with full specifications and one on 'low' so I can send 2gb instead of 80gb of files through the internet for me to work remotely on, and to speed up the overall work rhythm because files are lighter. All I need to do is to work at my home with the low quality files, send it back to the client's computer after finished, re-index all files in their high resolution twins and we are good to go to finish the product with highest quality possible. But both high and low quality files need to be the same extension, that I picked .mp4 for it is the standard for pretty much anything.
The point is, if I want to go full mobile, I only have an old HP Pavillion notebook and I really need to work with a video codec that goes very easy on it. I can only think about some 16:9 DV format. But the point is, this format generates a different file extension than my .mp4 standard, and Premiere, to my knowledge, really can't reindex files using only the file name while ignoring the file extension. It really should. And I really need to know how.
We also need to consider Premiere versions that allow themselves to be installed at x32 processors. My desktop is x64 and I really have no problem to work on these standards, the problem is, in my notebook I really can't.
So, halp?

i want to say it was added in cs7, which requires subscription, so in that case might as well be using latest version 8. if you had to use an older version like cs5, you could still use h264 or low bitrate dnxhd/prores codecs inside a quicktime .mov file. that would allow you to have same file ext on both versions of files.

Using multiple SSIDs with same name but different PSKs

I have a central WLC 2504 controller that is being used for remote site FlexConnect 1141 APs. They all advertise three different SSIDs. One SSID is a global SSID that is the same at every office. One is a hidden SSID using 802.1x machine auth.
The one I am trying to get working is the local office guest network. These SSIDs are all the same at each office but should have different PSKs. They are local to the office, therefore would only ever be applied to a specific FlexConnect group.
I understand why in theory this is generally not a good idea but given these are for remote sites I'd like it to be possible. I always get this message though:
"WLAN with duplicate SSID and L2 security policy found"
Is there a way around this? New WLC code that allows it maybe?

I was able to configure three (more I think possible) WLANs with same SSID name and all are WPA2-AES-PSK on the same WLC and all are enabled at hte same time.
Note that you can not have any of those broadcasting on same AP group. Each WLAN can be only broadcasted on a separate AP group. For your sites, It will probably need you to define an AP group for each site to broadcast different WLANs on different sites.
You can do that if all your WLANs have an ID of 17 or higher. (the reason is, WLANs of 1-16 are by default broadcasted on the default AP group. and because those can not be on the same AP group - including the default one - then you can't have them with WLAN IDs 1-16. i.e on same - default - AP group)

Combining selectOneRadio with other content but text?

I got a quite simpel task I am currently not able to manage with JSF. I want to combine some Radio-Buttons with content like images or video, simply showing a radiobox in front an image and another and so on.
So in terms of JSF i thought i had to combine selectOneRadio, selectItem and graphicImage tags. But this doens't work. According to api selectOneRadio-Tags can only contain selectItem- or selectItems-tags.
So how can i manage to show some other content behing my radio buttons without writing my own tag? Mus be an eady solution...i hope ;o)

Multiple servers with same IP but different ports - problem listing in ARD

Hi - I have no problem connecting to multiple Macs behind a single IP (router) using different ports, port forwarding, dyndns, etc., etc.
The problem I'm having is that in the list of computers in ARD, it won't let you have more than one with the same IP address. When you create the second with the same IP, it clears the first one, giving it an IP of 0.0.0.0. They are on different ports, but that's not counted as part of the IP, so it still gets cleared. I use different dyndns domain names, but ARD instantly converts them to an IP when creating the entry, so that doesn't help either.
Are there any workarounds?

So I'm getting better at using Automator to create useful Services but still a bit of a newbie with doing powerful things with AppleScript... and I think this task requires some applescripting. Here's what I want to do:
1. Based on a selected text file I want to run a pre-existing script that converts this file into an HTML file. This new file has the same name as the text file but has the .html extension rather than the .txt extension. (This step is easy enough and it works just fine already.)
2. BUT NOW, I want to take that resulting HTML file and run another pre-existing script that converts the HTML file into an RTF file. The problem is that I basically want to change the selection from selectedfile.TXT to selectedfile.HTML so that I can proceed to this next step...
3. AND THEN, I want to launch an app with this resulting RTF file. Again, I need to change the selection to selectedfile.RTF.
Right now this requires me to run three different services, and changing the selected file between each step... But I'm sure there's an easy applescript way (or other way) to do this using just one service -- probably involves some filename parsing and some magic to change the selection??? -- or something like that...
Could anyone point me in the right direction???

You can chain your scripts together - depending on the complexity of your pre-existing scripts, you could do this with either AppleScript or Automator. The workflow would just take the selected text file (from step 1), convert to both HTML (2) and RTF (3), then launch your application with the resulting RTF - no need to change any selection.
By the way, this is the Tiger Automator forum - Snow Leopard's Automator is quite a bit different, so you will probably have better luck posting in the Snow Leopard forum.
