Equations display badly in IE

I am using Robohelp X5 for Word. The Word documents contain
equations. After generating the webhelp files, the equations
display very badly in Internet Explorer. But they display just fine
in Opera. If I open the actual gif file in IE,
it opens the Windows picture viewer, and displays the
equation just fine (but quite large). So I would guess that the IE
gif-shrinking algorithm is the culprit.
Anyone else come across this? Any suggestions?

Hi mnicoll
Are these images larger than what will comfortably fit in IE?
I ask because I'm aware that IE typically will automatically scale
an image to fit within the window. If you hover the image, you see
a couple of odd icons. I belive one of them appears in the lower
right corner of the image and you have to click it to see the image
at its full size. I believe you get at this setting by clicking
Tools > Internet Options... > Advanced tab > Multimedia
section. There, you should see a check box labeled "Enable
Automatic Image Resizing". DE-select that and you should be set.
However, this would only change the behavior for your PC.
There is nothing I'm aware of that you can do to accommodate your
end users' PCs. Well, nothing to force a change in their browser
behavior.
What you *CAN* do is to ensure your images aren't overly
large to begin with. But that's a whole other nest of weiner dogs.
Cheers... Rick

  • Small fonts for Firefox 35.0.1 display badly after Windows Update 2/10/15

After Microsoft did an update (image attached) the display of many small fonts is nasty (image attached). I see it in no other programs including IE. Not all fonts are bad, just some small ones. Everything on your page here looks fine.

hi chris, this is probably caused by microsoft update kb3013455 which can cause font rendering issues on vista:
<blockquote>After you install security update 3013455, you may notice some text quality degradation in certain scenarios. The problem only occurs on systems that are running Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP2. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available. </blockquote>

  • Twist s230u second display bad resolution

Hi I just bought a ThinkPad Twist S230U (3347-6LU)  with Intyel HD 4000 graphics adapter and I try to connect my external 22" LCD monitor (1680x1050) using the miniHDMI to HDMI cable, but when I extend the desktop to the second display only have the 1920x1080,1280x720 and 1024x768 choices.
How can i add the correct resolution (1680x1050)?
    Regards,
    Alejandro Castrejon

I'm having a similar problem. When I plug the HDMI cable into the laptop, the screen does a quick flash to black like normal, but there's no signal to the external monitor. After a few seconds, the monitor goes into "HDMI power saving mode." I've tried multiple cables, multiple adapters, and even tried hooking it up to an HDMI projection system at my office. Same result with everything--laptop acts like an external display has been connected, but there' s no picture at the destination.
This used to work without a problem, so I don't know what's changed. I tried updating the display driver and even went back to Windows 8 and up to 8.1 again. Nothing. It's a huge problem because I travel and present for a living and some of the venues only have HDMI. I bought a minidisplay to HDMI adapter, but it would be nice to use the native port.

  • Cinema Display "badly" recognized

    Hi,
I'm using a Cinema Display (20 '') on a G5 since 2 years, and today I've encountered a problem I've never had before: when I press the F14/F15 keys, the luminosity of the display doesn't change. When I open the "Monitor" pref pane, I dont have the luminosity "ruler" anymore... and when I put the Mac in "sleep" mode, the led of the display is fix, it doesn't pulsate as before...
I know that can seem ridiculous as a problem, but this used to work so it can't stop like that...
I've tried with two OSes (Tiger and Panther) the result is the same. I've also tried to remove the power cords of the Mac and the display for some minutes, and reinitialized the G5 PRAM, but none of those changed anything...
    Any idea someone ?
    Thanks in advance.

Ok, thanks for the information. I'll keep a closer eye at it, then... It's sad your AppleCare ended before you figured it out
Don't you know if that's a peripheral that damaged the display's hub or if it just "died" by itself ?

  • Browser Lab displays wrong for IE8 ?

I am trying Browser Lab for the second time, so I'm not experienced! However BL's Flash display of IE8 (Win)  is significantly different from my own local IE8 (Win) display.
I have screenshots but this Adobe Forum message app' does not seem to have a working "Insert Image" function (it is greyed-out) - f.y.i website I am testing is www.sebra.org.uk.
So - there is a gif inside a Div component of my webpage which is not displaying at all (BL displays red "X" and the name of the Div) and the ribbon menu underneath is displaced by maybe 5 pixels vertically.
Since the whole point of Browser Lab is to highlight inconsistencies in browsers maybe this is a serious flaw (if I changed my code to adjust BL's render, then my version of IE8 would display badly aligned design - I have no idea how to restore the missing gif in BL!).
Alternatively maybe I have a glitch in my desktop system (Vista).
    Any ideas about this glitch?

Does the issue still occur for you? I seem unable to reproduce this.

  • Bad ramifications of color profile used in previews

It seems that Aperture's choice of color profile for its previews has some rather wide implications. In a RAW workflow, previews are assigned an Adobe RGB profile. In a JPG workflow, previews aren't generated at all at first (which makes sense - no need to create a JPG from a JPG), but they are created once you edit a photo. Then once again, the preview is assigned an Adobe RGB profile, irrespective of the color profile of the original photo. This all kind of makes sense. Presumably, Adobe RGB is the same as, or close to, the color profile Aperure uses internally.
The problem comes when photos are "shared". With the Aperture preference set to "Share previews with iLife and iWork", Aperture generates an XML file that can be used by external programs. This XML file points the external program at the previews (or the original in the case of an unedited JPG). Then photos can be picked up in various places:
    * In mail.app via the Photo Browser.
    * In any app via the Media section in Finder.
    * On an Apple TV via the "Choose photos to share" option in iTunes.
BUT - all these photos (with the exception of an unedited JPG) will ALWAYS have an Adobe RGB profile. This is generally not good, since the photos will display badly in any app that isn't color managed. Unfortunately, this seems to apply to Apple TV. Photos there have the typically subdued look of Adobe RGB when not color managed. The situation actually gets worse with JPGs. An unedited JPG which originally had an sRGB profile will display fine, but as soon as you edit that photo in Aperture, it willl display badly because now iTunes/Apple TV is working with an Adobe RGB profile. I've done tests and it's painfully obvious.
Anyone else come across this? I'm not sure what can be done. Maybe having an option to generate proviews using sRGB would be good, but that might involve too much processing in Aperture when it's continually generating previews as you edit.
    Thoughts appreciated!

The export settings don't have any effect on the problem, unfortunately. What preference are you referring to? Do you mean the Import "tab" in Aperture prefs? That just governs what Aperture uses for its initial preview. it will now, by default, use the preview that is embedded in every RAW file to speed up processing. As soon as you look at the photo, even without editing it, it will then generate its own JPG preview (with Adobe RGB profile).
I haven't received any other feedback about this problem anywhere, which is surprising to me. I think I can only post the problem through Apple feedback, and hope for the best. It seems that, in the meantime, the only course of action is to export everything you need to display properly on an AppleTV, and re-import those JPGs into Aperture (or iPhoto) so they can be displayed via iTunes. A royal pain!

  • BADI MRM_PAYMENT_TERMS - Baseline date

    Hi All,
The requirment I have is to automatically populate the Baseline date based on the GR posting date and Invoice posting date.
While creation of the Invoice in MIRO,
           1) If the GR posting date is greater than the Invoice posting date then the Baseline date should be populated with the GR posting date.
           2) If the Invoice posting date is greater than the GR posting date then the Baseline date date should be populated with the Invoice posting date.
This logic I have implemented in  the BADI MRM_PAYMENT_TERMS which works as expected.
But the standard calculation of 'DUE ON' date, Payment terms, Cash discount days are not performing according to the standard functionality and these values do not get displayed.
    Why is this getting affected?
Also, please suggest if there is any other way to achieve this requirement without any deviation from the standard functionality.
Below is the code that I have implemented in the BADI.

  • Messenger Express 6 Unable to display embedded images

    Hi
Messenger Expresss seems tob unable to display embedded images (gif or jpeg) in the form cid:image.gif and some hosted images. In reference to the the cid:image.gif , when I open the email get an error from the browser that states "Warning: the application cid must be lauched to view this file." or something close to that. It gives me a choice of opening "cid" or canceling. There is also a check box "remember my choice for all files." which I choose and then I get an email full of broken image links.
I've tried this in Firefox and IE the routine is a bit different but the result is the same. No images displayed.
I also used a netflix email I recieved.. some of the images displayed some did not. The ones that did display were from www.netflix.com some of the others hosted on an image server somewhere in the netflix namespace did not.
I'm at a loss. If anyone can shed some light on this I'd be very thankful
    Erik

I was speaking about what client created the original mail messate.
The "error message" isn't very useful. Is the mail message itself is badly formed, then the problem lies with the client that created it.
You should be able to tell from the headers of the message.
If you have the message file on disk, examine it with a text editor. "Message file on disk" means the original file, as stored on the server as a xxx.msg file, not what any client might save to a local disk.
When we work these kinds of things as tech support cases, we start out with this file.
I have no idea what gmail does, so that's not really relevant.
Your IMAP client may be better at displaying badly formed messages than webmail is.

  • Activate standard badi - prompts for Object Key?

In SE19 when trying to activate an SAP delivered implementation of a badi I'm prompted for an object key for the implementation class.
    fyi  Running ECC6 on Basis 7 kb14.
    Go to SE19
    Display badi FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE
Go to environment menu, choose activate.
Notice that the activate option is greyed out?
Go back and change the FIAA_BW_DELETA_UPDATE badi implementation.      Go to environment menu, choose activate. You'll be prompted for an object key for the implementing class -  CL_IM_FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE.
Is this correct behavior?   We don't want to change the class - just activate it.    Could I get around this by copying the class changing the implementation class to a ZCL_IM_FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE?
Thanks in advance for any help on this topic.

    Hi Ryan.
You need to apply an OSS note for this
Please check the extract below..it will solve the problem
    check the following Notes.
    Check these OSS Notes - 828240, 688477 and 590034,599896
    Note Pasted below :
When you load the delta-enabled InfoSources of asset accounting, no time stamp information is updated in the OLTP system if you have selected "Simulation of the delta process initialization" (initialization without data transfer; technical mode 'S') as the update mode.
    This affects the InfoSources:
    1. 0ASSET_ATTR_TEXT
    2. 0ASSET_AFAB_ATTR
    3. 0FI_AA_11
    4. 0FI_AA_12
As a result of the error, you cannot start delta extraction after the initialization without data transfer because the delta extractor does not find any time stamp information it can use.
    Other terms
    RSA3, BWOM2_TIMEST, delta, DeltaInit, BWFIT, 0FI_GL_4, BWFIT_GET_TIMESTAMPS, BWFIT_RESET_TIMESTAMPS, BWFIT_UPDATE_TIMESTAMPS
    Reason and Prerequisites
    a) The problem is caused by a program error.
    b) The 'FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE' BADI is not active.
    Solution
For a: Implement the source code corrections to create a correct time stamp for the initialization without data transfer.
For b: For a data extraction to the BW system according to the delta method, the 'FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE' BADI must be active. When assets are changed, this BADI writes the corresponding change entries which are read by the extractors to determine the delta values. If this BADI is not active, the extraction terminates with error BWFIAA 001 (BAdI implementation FIAA_BW_DELTA_UPDATE inactive in source system). During a DeltaInit extraction with data transfer, the system flags the data request as incorrect or canceled in the monitor and issues the error message. However, during the DeltaInit extraction without data transfer, the system does not issue an error in the BW system even though the extractor triggered an error message and the termination of the extraction in the OLTP system. The data request in the BW system has the status 'successful' and the user cannot see that an error has occurred. However, a time stamp is not created in these cases since the following delta extractions would cause inconsistencies because the BADI would not be able to log all changes that have occurred since the last extraction.

  • How to add mathematical equations?

I would like to place some mathematical equations (created using a LaTeX system) on a Photoshop page as a vector object. How can this be done?

But my question was actually not about an equation editor. I use LaTeX based software to create and edit my mathematical equations. I do not need an equation editor.
I did find out that if I used the copy-and-paste capability of Windows (Vista 32-bit) for copying equations (displayed on the screen) that InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator all failed (incorrect results) and the pasted results obtained were all different. This means that these package are inconsistent in how they handle information stored in the clipboard.
I did find another way to copy-and-paste mathematical material which is as follows:
    1) Create a PDF document that contains the mathematical material that I wish to put into these packages.
    2) Copy-and-paste from the PDF document to these packages.
    This works on my system!

  • Sudden Issue with 23-inch displays?!

My 23-inch display went kaputz yesterday. It's interesting that today for the first time ever, I've come to these forums, hoping for an answer. How in the world can it be that suddenly this August, all of these 23-inchers are on the fritz?
    What's up, Apple?!
(thank God for my old 22-inch display. I replugged it in and it's running like a charm.)

Several of us have expressed frustration with Apple's lack of response to this problem (which they obviously know about by now, and if they don't, there is no excuse), and the lack of a way to register any complaint beyond the level of your individual AppleCare person. Not knowing where else to turn, I sent an e-mail to the director of Mac PR, and the PR manager for Mac hardware, whose addresses are among the few on the Apple site (see site map).
As evidence that this is not just one person complaining but a true potential PR problem, I asked them to read this discussion and three others on the same issue: "Display not always turning on", "23" display not turning on problem", "Sudden issue with 23-inch displays", "23" cinema display -- bad adapter".
    I summarized the complaints as:
    1. Power adapters seem to be o failing in large numbers at the same time.
    2. Many people are waiting for replacement power adapters through Apple Care, and they are not being shipped as promised.
    3. Frustration with Apple's failure to step up to the plate and address this problem.
I asked for a response. So far, two days later, not even an acknowledgement from either one that they received my e-mail.
Maybe if they hear from more of us, they will see that, yes, this is a PR issue!
