Equipment class and charecterstics

Hi SAP specialists,
We are in the process of creating class and characteristics for equipments in my company. Please advise if there is a table of possible classes and characteristics that can be referred to while creating class and charecteristics.
I understand many companies refer to a catalog of class-characteristic to select the combination that is applicable to them.
Your valuable inputs are greatly appreciated.

Actually the classes are mainatined according to class type & not according to equipment category (equipment type). So i think it is not possible to maintain it according to equipment category & there is no such table wich will maintain the classes according to equipment type.
Yes you can create the Z table & update it while creating the classes under equipment class type & maintain it according to equipment category (Equipment type). But it is Z Development & not standard one.

Hi,
As per above post, you can find classes. To find characteristics, Give EQUNR value in OBJEK field in AUSP table & get the ATINN value.
Give ATINN value in ATINN field in CABN table & get ATNAM field value.
In AUSP table, you can get the values against each characteristics as well.

Equipment search based on Class and Characteristic data

Hello Experts,
We are looking for some inputs on how to get index created on Class and Characterstics for Equipments.
We are using Embedded Search , TREX Version 7.10.44.00, Changelist 323327 (710_REL), InstallationType ESH along with ECC 6.0/Ehp4.
We can't see any standard template available in our cockpit(ESH_COCKPIT) for Class and Characteristic but we can see a template on Equipment(EQUI).
We have the following software components available : EA-HRGXX, ESH_COMMON_OBJECTS and SAP_APPL however class and characteristic are missing.
We tried to import it but unavailable in the import queue. Hence it seems we need to create it manually.
Question:
Is it available in some patch or something from where we can import it? We assume these should be definitely available somewhere since these are standards templates.
From where we can get the technical details if we want to create these manually?
How to configure the index to get the relevant field data from ECC-->TREX for these new indexes(Class/Characteristic) created?
What extra coding required to do this? Where we can find the details on how to program and run this?
Any other related info around this will be really helpful.

the standard templates are only delivered with EHP5 and NW 7.2 as part of the standard delivery.

i need a FM/BAPI which will allow me to take input as equipment number and assign the class and value for it as done manually in IE02.
Input should be equipment number.

Equipment Class Table

Hi,
I would like to ask what are the tables related to equipment class? When I go to IE03 then enter the equipment number and click classfication, there's a class number for that equipment. I'm using tables EQUI, EQUZ but I don't know what and how these tables will be linked to equipment class number. Your response is highly much appreciated.

If you want to get the characteristic values from the equipement class->
Try EQUI-EQUNR as OBJEK of AUSP table and
Also use EQUI-CUOBJ in IBIN-INSTANCE - > IBIN-IN_RECNO to IBINVALUES-IN_RECNO
then IBINVALUES-SYMBOLID to IBSYMBOL-SYMBOLID.
You can also use BAPI 'BAPI_OBJCL_GETCLASSES'.

Equipment, classes, characteristics, values

Hello,
I'm trying to list out all equipments that have classes assigned to them and i also want to see which characteristics and values are valid for that equipment. I want to have that in one overview.
transaction CL6BN comes very close, but i can not make a download from that transaction to excel (at least i can not find the option)
Does anyone know a transaction or table (table join) where i can find the needed information?

Does this mean that of all the equipments in the list, only these classes are applicable to those equipments? I can not imagine, because if i check the class list, 182 equipment classes are supposed to be assigned...

Assignment of Class and charecterstic to serial number

is it possible to assign Class and charecter to serial number, like batch charecterstic serial number class should populate
at the generation of serial number, then user will enter the serial number details,

we want to create this req for material , client dont want to create equipment, and also while crating serial no, it iwll not popup like
batch to enter details,

Hi Guys,
As per the customers requirement I have to list down all the equipments along with the respective corresponding values. The equipments are linked to the Characteristics by class type and class and then characteristics and then the the values that are assigned.
I am aware that the characteristics and the values are saved in the CABN and CAWN table and the link between them us the internal number.
Can any one please suggest me if there is a way to find a table link for equipment which are assignd to a Class type and hence a class and then these characteristics in CABN and values in CAWN.

Can I use classes and methods for a maintenance view events?

Instead of perform/form, can I instead use classes and methods, etc for a given maintenance view event, lets say for example I want to use event '01' which is before saving records in the database. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot guys!

   for using EVENTS and our own code inside it -
   It is provided using FORM/PERFORM
   concept only.
2. At this stage,we cannot use classes.
3. However, inside the FORM routine,
   we can write what ever we want.
   We can aswell use any abap code, including
   classes and methods.
(But this classes and methods won't have any
   effect on the EVENT provided by maintenance view)

Abstract class and Interface
An abstract class can have instance methods that implement a default behavior. An Interface can only declare constants and instance methods, but cannot implement default behavior and all methods are implicitly abstract. An interface has all public members and no implementation. An abstract class is a class which may have the usual flavors of class members (private, protected, etc.), but has some abstract methods.

For batch class the class type value is '023' . This you can find from KLAH table and the fileld for class type is KLART..
And also all the data related to batch class are found in tables INOB, KLAH,KKSK and for the characeteristics of batch materials you can refer AUSP table.
In INOB table, for batch class, you need to give 023 in KLART field and value MCH1 in OBTAB filed.

Very bad approach
1) Think if your table contains more than one NAMEs then you will get only the last one with your code.
2) Your String is declared as local variable in the method.
3) You have not created any object of NewClass nor called the method in JSP page. Then who will call the method to run sql?
4) Your NewClass contains main method which will not work in web application, it's not standalone desktop application so remove main.
Better create an ArrayList and then call the method of NewClass and then store the data into ArrayList and return the ArrayList.
It should look like

Customizing FD01 and FB70 using PS Class and Characteristics

Hello SAP Experts
I have the following issue:
My client has a requirement where we need to customize the Customer Master (FD01) screen and the Invoice Posting Screen (FB70). A few additional fields have to be added by creating a separate tab. I was intending to take Abaper's help and do this using user exits but I have been suggested by the cleint to use SAP PS Class and Characteristics feature to do this. Can someone please throw some light on this feature and how can i create custom fields on FD01 and FB70 screens. Is there a way we could customize these screens using PS class and characteristics. Your opinions would be much appreciated.

Is there any Class/FM to find the class and characterstics for a given material.I tried some BAPI_OBJCL* BAPI's but lot of the BAPI's need classnum as input parameter. But i need a BAPI or tables or class which can give the class and its characterstic values for a given material.
