Equium A100-02k - No backlight on screen

Laptop starts up ok but after 5 minutes or so the screen flickers then goes black. Under a bright light I can still see desktop image on screen but there is no backlight.
If I let it cool for 10 minutes it again starts normally before going black again.
I'm hoping it's just the inverter but need confirmation before I purchase a new part, or could this be something else like the actual screen itself or VGA adaptor?

Hello
If you can see a picture on external monitor I assume the internal FL inverter is faulty and must be replaced. This would be the typical reason for this issue
Where you can get a new FL inverter?
Just ask your authorized service provider. The guys can order a new one and exchange it. :)

  • Re: LAN not working on Equium A100-02K PSAAQE

    I have an Equium A100 - 02K, Model PSAAQE - 00N00LAV, S/N 57015844Q running Vista Home Premium.
Recently the LAN connection via cable failed although the wireless connection to the internet still works. There is no light displayed on the LAN socket when connected and the router does not show a connection. Running task manager shows that there is a problem with the LAN driver. I have reloaded the driver but still task manager shows a driver problem.
Is this a hardware problem or are there further steps I can take such as checking in the BIOS?

    Hi
I think its a only a software issue.
Please access the device manger and uninstall the LAN driver (you can mark the LAN card and could remove it too)
    Then reboot the notebook!
By the way; what error code appears in device manger near the LAN card?

  • On Equium A100-337 WLAN connection security screen is not displayed correctly

My computer use to connect to a specific wireless network without any problems automatically. However, now when trying to connect to the same network, the security key screen I am presented with is not the correct type. Instead of two lines of encryption there is only one. When I enter the correct password I get a message to say I am connected to the network but cannot access the Internet. The wireless router is working fine.
Do I need to reset something on my computer or change a setting?

    Hi
May I ask what wireless configuration tool do you use???
Did you try to refresh or to reconfigure the WLan profile on the router and on the notebook?
Try this. Disable the encryption on router and try to connect without the security settings. If it will work you can set the encryption settings back.
You could also try to reinstall the WLan driver.
By the way; did you use any firewalls??? Sometimes enabled firewall could has a bad influence on the WLan or internet connectivity.

    Toshiba Equium A100 laptop
Completely black screen on startup so please don't say go into safe mode etc, because I can't.
    I can't see a thing.
Like once in every 100 goes it will come on and I can F12 to boot from the format disk but it eventually freezes before completion.
Video showing what's happening - BTW the buttons you see me pressing are Fn+F5 I've heard that that sometimes works, but yeah, it didn't.

    Hi
Look not good dude I think its an serious hardware issue
I checked the movie and cannot hear a beep when the notebook passes the POST (power on self-test). So for me it looks like something wrong with the hardware
But did you try to connect an external monitor in order to check if something would be visible on second screen? Check this
    You could also try this:
Disconnect AC adaptor, remove the battery, wait some time (3-5 hours), then connect both parts and try to power up the notebook. If this fails, well in such case have no many other ideas. Ohhh wait maybe you could check the RAM modules. Try to power up the notebook using one module in each slot

  • After stand by screen is frozen - Equium A100

I have just bought an Equium A100-306 and this is my first laptop (have always had desktops) so not sure if it is me that is doing something wrong..... After being left unused for a while, my laptop goes into standby mode. If the laptop is open the power on button flashes orange, I press this to come back out of standby but when it wakes up the screen is frozen.... there is also a note that comes up at the bottom saying network cables are not connected (even though I haven't touched anything).
The only way I have found to get out of this is by pressing and holding the power button and then starting the computer up again, it works perfectly again when its back on?
Would be grateful of any help?
    Rach

    Hi Rachel
Such issues are always strange and I think we can only suggest what could be wrong or what could help.
Hmm you said there is a messages saying the network cables are not connected.
I think you should firstly disable the power saving in the device manger -> LAN properties and disable the Link Down power saving in the advanced tab.
I have also checked the driver page and it seems there is a new BIOS released. You could try to update the BIOS to the newest version and check if you use the newest LAN driver version.
    Good luck

  • Black screen on Equium A100-306 after watching movie on external projector

    Hi!
I've got Equium A100-306 Laptop and it was working fine. Yesterday I plugged in a projector and watched the movie.
Once i finished the movie i switch it off and disconnected the projector.
After few hours later i tried to switch my laptop and found that the inital screen loads up after that there's nothing in the screen.
I could go in the BIOS but couldn't go the Safe mode. I still remember i did use Fn and F5 key but nothing comes up so any help could be much appreciated.
As the initial screen loads up i don't think there's a problem on screen neither on graphic card as the toshiba logo shows up at the starting.
Can anyone help to figure out if tht's a hard disk problem may be.

Hmm for me it looks like the display was set ONLY to an external display device (projector, external monitor, etc) and therefore you are not able to see anything on the notebooks internal screen.
I think you should connect the projector or an second external monitor to this notebook and should try to set the display back to the default settings (notebook screen only)
The FN+F5 combination should help you.
As far as I know the notebook changes the screen output in this order:
*Internal screen* *(CRT) external screen + internal screen* *(CRT) external screen only* *TV (s-video out) + internal screen* *TV only (s-video out)*
So possibly you have chosen the last device (s-video out only)

  • Equium A100-147 doesn't boot up - no display on screen

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Equium A100-147. When I switch it on, I can see the LED's light up but there is no display on the screen.
I read on a previous thread on a similar model that this was fixed by resetting the computer.
I understand there is a possibilty that this is an issue with the motherboard, however I remain hopeful that a manual reset might work.
Can someone please tell me how this can be done??

    You could try this short and simple procedure;
    - remove the battery from the notebook
    - disconnect all external 3rd party devices and the AC adaptor
    - leave the notebook for about 20-30min
    - then connect battery and AC adaptor again
If the notebook will not power up after this procedure then your have a serious hardware issue and only the ASP could help you.
I dont want to make any statement about the possible faults because its always difficult to say whats wrong exactly but it looks a little bit like a mobo issue.
    Bye

  • Equium A100 - Unable to boot from bootable disc

    Equium A100-549
My partners son has a 2 year old Toshiba laptop that has become slow over time. I had made a backup of the system with office etc installed using Acronis. Anyway, decided to clear it off by running Acronis and the image saved. The program runs as normal and it drops down to a dos like screen ready to restore. It then sits there with the curser flashing as normal and then it locks up, and doesnt allow you to browse to the image.
I though that this may be corrupted, so reinstalled Acronis. Made an Acronis boot disk to run the image and it ignores the disk and boots straight to the normal hard disk (IDE 0) Still no joy. Then tried the laptops restore disk. In the BIOS I specified CD device as first, and also the restore disk says place in drive and turn off.
Then as it boots hit F12 which brings up a menu allowing you to boot from CD drive. I have done this, but it doesnt appear to look at the CD and just loads windows from the HDD. I removed the CD from system devices and rebooted. It found it and added the new device to itself and requested a reboot. Still no joy!
Scanned with Norton but still no good. Removed Norton. The result is the same. Able to read from the CD and also write to it as well. Ran Toshibas diagnostics on the device and all appears ok with it.
Tried to make a boot disk on flash stick, but this is ignored also, even though specified boot using other devices.
Basically it looks like I cant get it to look at the CD before loading off the HDD.
Would flashing the BIOS cure it? - Registry error causes this?
Is there anywhere that I can speak to someone from Toshiba about this?
Any info / help much appreciated

Worked first time. I was in the middle of running a downloded version of system mechanic to see if it would find anything. Anyway, I placed the restore disk in it and pressed C on reeboot and it worked - foolishly I stopped it and tried again. It worked again. Had searched the entire net and a few forums before coming here. One post and its fixed!!!!
A life saver, especially at christmas as I didnt want to have to buy another laptop.
    Once again thanks
    Nick

  • Connecting Equium A100 to a TV

I have an Equium A100-147 and a TV (Type is KV28FX).
I wanted to connect the A100 to the lap tpo to view some pictures.
I have tried connecting with a S to S lead, and a S to scart lead, neither of which work. Can anyone suggest an answer?

ensure that both ends are connected (one from your laptop to your tv). once thats done, right click on your
desktop and from the drop-down menu go to Graphic Options, then to Output To from which select Intel Dual Display Clone. Finally click on one of the options from that menu and you should get your output on both screens.
    good luck!!

  • Equium A100-549 wont boot properly

On the other day, my Equium A100-549 suddenly couldn't be booted. When the power is ON, there is no anything coming out on the screen (totally dark!). I have noticed the hard derive's light is not on, though the other lights are on.
I tried to boot with the recovery CD, but nothing came out, even F12 or "C" was pressed following the power on press.
I am suspecting that there would be a malfunction of the hard drive, but no any experience to judge this.
It would very appreciated for any advice.
    Cheers.
    Ning

    I'm sure it's not a HDD malfunction.
If the HDD would malfunction, then you would receive an error message that the OS cannot be booted up or something like that.
If you don't see anything on the display and if the Toshiba splash screen does not appear too, then I??ve got a bad news for you buddy.
In most cases the motherboard fault causes such issue. :(
But this is only a suggestion and maybe you are a lucky guy and a cheaper part instead of mobo could be faulty.
The ASP can answer such questions... therefore my recommendation is to contact the authorized service provider in your country and to ask for the notebook check.
    Hope the best...
    Best regards

  • Re: EQuium A100-147, wont start, \windows\system32\config\system -missing-

This laptop Equium A100-147started not connecting to internet normally, but would in safe mode.
    So after trying virus scans-nothing.
System restore-nothing. I decided to put in the recovery disc and reinstall windows media.
I changed boot sequence to install it, changed boot sequence back to original.
It has reinstalled but will not go by the Windows Screen, A message has come up \windows\system32\config\system -missing or corrupt.
I cannot even see a way of doing a repair with this recovery disc??
    Any help would be appreciated
    thank you in advance.

That error means the Registry is corrupted.
The registry is made up from the following files:
    c:\windows\system32\config\system
    c:\windows\system32\config\software
    c:\windows\system32\config\sam
    c:\windows\system32\config\security
    c:\windows\system32\config\default
You can restore these Registry files from the hidden System Restore folder on C: Drive.

  • Toshiba equium a100-147- light turns on but nothing happens - HELP

My mum has a toshiba equium a100-147, and it doesn't appear to want to turn on.
The power light sometimes only comes on very dim when you pess the power button, other times it comes on bright.
I've tried unplugging the HDD and putting it back in, tried it with just one of the each sticks of ram in, checked that it's just a screen issue by plugging it into an external HDD, all with no luck. I did even unplug and plug the screen into the laptop itself just incase the cable came a bit loose.
Basically though, it does turn on, like the fans and the light comes on, but absolutely nothing else happens. The screen doesn't turn on at all.
    Anything I can do?

That doesn't appear to be a US model, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. You may want to contact Toshiba in your region. If it's a European model, you could check the Toshiba Europe forums.

  • How to connect my Equium A100 to the TV?

    HELP.....
I am not very good with all this tech stuff.............my age I think!!...........I am trying to connect my Panasonic TV to my PC with a VGA cable but get a 'No Signal' message on my TV..........I have been told to try a 'S' video cable but why then do I have a VGA port?
All I want to do is watch stuff on my TV from my PC..............Any help out there please would be most welcome.,,,,,,.My Laptop is an Equium A100....

I also think you should use S-Video cable for connection. I used it with my old Tecra M3 to connect to old Samsung TV. Everything worked fine.
As Keany already wrote, when you connect notebook to the TV be sure right port is enabled. Maybe you can do this using AV button on the TV remote controller.
After enabling right port on TV use FN+F5 key combination to switch from LCD to TV.
