Equium A100-02L with an audio problem

Hi There
It seems to be a relatively popular topic but I still have not been able to fix my laptop. It came with Vista installed and as it was relatively sluggish, I decided to install XP SP3 on the machine. I have all the drivers from Toshiba as well as all windows updates from MS update. Everything seems to be working wonderfully except the sound. Windows has never picked up that I have onboard sound and so has never attempted to install drivers. I have installed the ones from Toshiba, and then the ones from realtek, all to no avail.
In my device manager it says, under 'other devices', that there is a PCI device with no Drivers (Yellow question mark, with a yellow exclamation mark). I feel that this may be the root of my problems but I have been unable to do ANYTHING about it.
If anyone has any ideas or needs any further info, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask :)
Thanks for your time.

Hi
The problem is that you need to install firstly the XP hotfixes KB835221 and KB888111 before you will try to perform the sound driver installation.
So install firstly these patches (google sipmply) and after new reboot install the sound driver.
Possibly you will have to remove the sound card from the device manager firstly and then after second reboot you could be able to install the sound driver.
Try simply and check it out.
Best regards

  • Equium A100-02L - overheating/shutting down

    Hi folks
My daughters Equium A100 02L keeps overheating/ shutting down. The fan underneath is choked with dust etc. I dislodged some of it by blowing and poking with a fine wire. How can I remove the fan to give it a good clean? I know I could use compressed air and try blasting it from the exterior grilles, but this may not suffice?
any help diagrams/ video link help would be great.
    cheers

    > How can I remove the fan to give it a good clean?
It is not so easy because the whole notebook must be disassembled. Unfortunately Maintenance manuals is not public document and on the net you can maybe find some descriptions and several pictures but I don't think it will help you much.
The first problem is how to remove speaker cover placed on the top of the keyboard. If you do this on the wrong way you will damage small plastic holders and ...... you know what I mean.
If the notebook is still good and your daughter is satisfied with it contact service and ask how much will cost professional cleaning.
They will disassemble whole notebook and check how it looks inside. I saw very often that CPU grease on old notebooks is also not the best and completely desiccated. That means the CPU temperature can grow up and reach critical level. Talk with them. Maybe they can also replace CPU grease.
Ok it costs a money but on this way you will be sure everything will be done well and on professional way.

  • Equium A100-147 Virtual Sound reinstall problem

I have read a few posts relating to the same problem I have, but with no definitive answer. I have the Equium A100-147 with Windows XP Media Center. I downloaded some up to date files from the Toshiba site (all for my model), including:
    acsil-xpmce-100008-en
    assist-xpmce-10300-en
    confree-xpmce-59007ab-en
    csutil-xpmce-7211006
    ctrls-xpmce-3221506-en
    display-xpmce-142004543
    fmd-xpmce-2004
    pcdt-xpmce-321u-en
    pwrsav-xpmce-70307i-en
    sdform-xpmce-2200-en
    sd-secure-xpmce-104-en
    sound-xpmce-51005253
    toupad-xpmce-10001st-en
and then: tvs-xpmce-10312-en (latest Virtual Sound driver for the A100-147)
I uninstalled the old version of the Virtual Sound driver before attempting to install the new one. But as I have seen elsewhere, I get the message:
"Toshiba Virtual Sound does not support your computer."
I have spent all afternoon looking up and trying to think of ways to fix this. I have since updated my BIOS (bios-550win). Not one thing I try will make it work. I have even deleted references to Virtual Sound in the registry in case there was any conflict going on. It has made no difference though.
Could someone from Toshiba please explain why I am being told that I cannot install what was working perfectly well until this morning, prior to these updates, which are all for my notebook model? It's ridiculous. Apologies for my tone, but having wasted hours on this, I am extremely frustrated and just want my laptop back the way it was (and before you ask, yes, I have tried a System Restore, but that does not work either).
    Thanks,
    Mac

I ran some report the other night... not sure if this gives a clue to anything:
TVSASI v1.002 - TOSHiBA Virtual Sound Audio Service Information
Caption : "Realtek High Definition Audio "
Description : "Realtek High Definition Audio "
    DeviceID : "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0861&SUBSYS_11791205 &REV_1003\4&1E09AF89&0&0001"

    DeviceIDName : "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0861&SUBSYS_11791205 &REV_1003\4&1E09AF89&0&0001"
ProductName : "Realtek High Definition Audio "
    Status : "OK "
Service Name for needed for TVS: "IntcAzAudAddService"

So the Realtek driver works fine, but still cannot installed the Virtual sound driver.

  • Equium A100-147 with error message "PXE-E61 Media Test Failure"

    Hi all,
I have Equium A100 out of warranty, due to error message "PXE-61 Media Test Failure" I took it to my local computer menders, they told me my Toshiba 60gb hard drive had failed (MG6034GSX) and replaced it with a another 120gb model.
I tried to reload system from Toshiba recovery disc, reload reaches 75% then messages come up saying it can't find loads of operating system files.
Thinking the Recovery disc was faulty I obtained a replacement from Toshiba, and this reload disc gave the same problem.
I have loaded XP Professional on to 120gb HDD and it runs OK but I would like to load original as it came with XP MCE.
Is my problem the 120gb HDD which should be as original 60gb and has the HDD got to be genuine Toshiba to accept the recovery media ?
Does anybody have any ideas, I would really appreciate your help.
    Cheers

    Hi R2D2
Thank you for your help. I tried the default bios settings and reformatting the HDD and an OS reinstall with the same outcome.
As you said it could be a HDD problem I returned it to the people who fitted the replacement HDD, they diagnosed a faulty HDD, replaced it under warranty and installed the OS for me. I guess the answer to "does the replacement HDD have to be genuine Toshiba" is no, in my case it doesn't.
Machine is now working fine. Thank you for your help, it's really appreciated and once again I think this is a great forum.
    Cheers

  • Can anyone help me with bluetooth audio problem?

I was able to pair my 4s with my bluetooth with no problem. However, it automatically also pairs with BTaudio (I have a 2011 Subaru Forrester). So when I get into my car and turn on BT, it connects with BT audio and my music from my itunes starts playing. I have to remember to pause it everytime I get into the car or it stays on and eats up my battery. I went to the Apple store and called Subaru and noone know what to do. I can't seem to pair it only with bluetooth. Anyone else have this problem and know what I can do about it?

The problem is in the car; it is requesting that the music play as soon as the iPhone connects. I have the same problem with my Prius. Except I unpaired it, then paired it again and this time said NO to play music via BT. When I want to play music from the phone I plug it in to the USB outlet in the car, which also charges the phone and gives me Toyota's Entune Internet access through the phone. But it also starts playing as soon as I connect it, which I agree is annoying.

  • *** is up with the audio problem in iMovie '11?

Okay.  This is ridiculous.  What is the deal with the audio issues in iMovie '11?  I am working on a short film. I insert audio files for streets sounds, door sounds, etc.  some work, some don't.  I converted .wav files to .aif files.  Still nothing.  I updated my OS and updated my iMovie to the latest versions.  Still nothing.  Why are the sounds there one second then gone a minute later?

    Great.
Gkad you got it figured out.

  • Can someone help with an audio problem that is driving me crackers!!

hi, i have seen lots of comments about windows sound issues, my problem is it sometimes says i have speakers installed and they are working (but have no sound) and other times (when i turn it back on) it says no device installed/not plugged in etc.... now i know from reading previous posts this is an issue for loads of people, my question really is, can i use speakers that connect via usb rather than 3.5mm jack, and does anyone think this will make any difference?  my dad has suggested fitting a new sound card? will that sort it out, have only had my pc for a week, and it is under warranty but i have to pay the postage to return it (not bought from a shop directly if that makes sense)  i have to date spent about 8 hours googling, reinstalling drivers, everything you could possibly think off and nothing has changed!!!! speakers work as have tried them in my DS and the front headphone jack is not working either   i have installed windows updates and read somewhere that might be an issue?  is there any point doing a system restore and if so how will that work, and will the photos i have uploaded still be saved if i restore to apoint before they were put on?  sorry but im not very technically minded!!
please help me as im slowly going grey!!!  i have a pavilion p6203

    zoehicks
I know you must be very frustrated with the sound issue. It sounds like you've done a lot of research and leg work to figure out what the problem is with little success.  I would not restore the system unless you have backup copies of anything you downloaded (just in case)  As I read....you've uninstalled drivers and rebooted to reinstall and downloaded updates to Win 7  Have you reviewed all the suggestions at the attached Link?  I can't explain why the headphones connection does not work but maybe go look at your main sound setup in control panel to see if there is an issue with the settings there?  Look to see if there is something going on inside the "Hardware and Sound" icon.  These are guesses as I can't understand as well why you've not hit on the appropriate solution. Let me know when you solve this issue what it was.  Regards

  • New user, need some help with an audio problem

Hey, I'm a total newbie to logic express and there is something I can't quite figure out, and if someone could just walk me through it I would be very greatful.
I'm using an M-Audio fast track USB recording interface to record my guitar on to the computer, and I have pretty much no idea how to record or hear my guitar.

Look at the Oracle analytic functions ... specifically LAG and LEAD.
You will find the docs at http://tahiti.oracle.com
For demos go to Morgan's Library at www.psoug.org and look up ANALYTIC FUNCTIONS.

  • Equium A100-147 (PSAABE) Control Buttons problem

Hello, do you have any idea why do the control buttons (play, pause, stop, next track, previous track) are not working? I uninstalled the control buttons driver and installed the last one and the buttons are still not working with windows media player.
    Cheers,
    Quarkos.

If it works with other programs, then it may be a software issue and you must configure the driver.
Have you tried this driver: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/tracker.jsp?file=http%3a%2f%2fsupport.toshiba-tro.de%2ftools%2fvista%2fbutsu%2fbutsu-vista-6btn0.zip

  • UT2004 Audio Problems with Audigy 2 ZS, X

I've been trying to play UT 2004 and am having some problems. Whenever I start a game, within 2-3 minutes the audio loops and the computer freezes. The only fix is a reboot. I had an Audigy 2 ZS installed, and was getting these problems, so I went and bought an X-Fi Music and installed it last night. Tried to run the game today, no luck, the exact same problem.
Would this be a problem with the Audio engine within UT2004, then? I've run other games (Call of Duty, Max Payne 2, original UT, etc) with no audio problems whatsoever.
One thing I would like to say is that music sounds absolutely incredible with this sound card. And, subjecti'vely, I think the games sound a ton better too, but the music processing is top-notch.
Thanks for any help! Here are my system specs:
    Athlon 64 3000+ @ 2.6 gHz
DFI LAN Party Nforce 3 Ultra
    Corsair XMS GB
    BFG 6800 OC
    Antec TruePower 430 2.0

Just tried re-installing the game, I thought maybe the patches or my extensi've editing of the UT2004.ini file might have caused it. Nope, still the same.
The card is recognized in the Device Manager, onboard audio is disabled.
Could it be something with the OpenAL implementation? I've read bits and pieces about improper processing, etc- I tried replacing the OpenAL file with the one from the Creative Developer's website as suggested and there was no change.

  • Audio problems with import

I am using a jvc gz-mg 155u camera and have made 2 previous movies with no audio problems.
I have about 1 hour of video in many different clips that i am trying to import.
    1) Not all of the clips "thumbnail" when the import window opens. when i click on any clip in the import window, the audio plays.
    2) When i play the video on the camcorder, the audio plays
    3) When i import the video clips, some of the initial clips have audio associated with them, but the latter clips do not.
In summary, it has worked fine before. Only some of the clips work now when imported and audio works fine in playback on the vid cam.
I just returned from costa rica and i am very anxious to build my trip movie.
    any suggestions??

Thanks for the fast reply. Much appreciated - I have found other reference to this since reading your reply, and I can see this should fix my problem.

As you can see i can only one option but i should have also the other like: mono, 2.1 , and 5.1. It's funny but i have the option 5.1 but it disappear. I don't know what to do if the drivers form the original side "crush" my audio setting. The funny thing is that the subufer  is working and 4 of 5 speakers work but you know is only right and left the middle is not work. I try to reinstall drivers but it doesn't help i can't find solution to this problem and i lost many hair so if you know how to fix it It was a great relieve to me.

The metal gear rising video is red because of the pic above it, and the sound works ok on that, infact that video is finished and uploaded to youtube now.

  • Vista Ultimate on Equium A100 - 2x "Unknown Devices"

Equium A100-306 with XP Media Centre Edition.
Stickered as Ready so done clean install of Vista Ultimate (x64).
Now I have 2 "Other Devices" in Control Panel.
Did have 3, as Mass Storage Controller was in there too!
There is an x64 TI xx21 version that does not work, available from Download Centre.
Anyone know how I can track/identify the devices &/or the missing drivers?
Used DriverMax and online Update Driver but nothing shows.
PLUS - anyone knowledgeable about the A100-306 with T5500 duo proc......
Is this a true 64 bit device or is it a 32 bit system running a 64 bit processor?
I have x64 Vista loaded which should show 4Gb or more, but it still reads 3062Mb.
Having read lots, I find that some people differentiate between system and processor capability, others do not.
Is it possible to have a 64bit processor in a 32bit system?
Why has this issue not been solved?
If it is a 32bit system, why should we bother putting x64 OS on it?
Confused on this so any help would be great.
    Yep! I have latest BIOS.
Oddly enough, I did get XP_MCE to show 4GB RAM immediately after BIOS upgrade.
Finally, Thanx to everyone who has asked (& replied to) all those other questions I had.
I came, I searched, I got the answer.......
Just the above to sort & I'm a v. happy bunny.

Please not that the Toshiba Vista 64bit drivers are not available on the Toshiba page and therefore some unknown devices can appear in the device manager because of the not installed drivers!!!
    > anyone knowledgeable about the A100-306 with T5500 duo proc...... Is this a true 64 bit device or is it a 32 bit system running a 64 bit processor
Intel Core2 Duo Mobile T5500 is known as a Merom/64Bit CPU.
    > Is it possible to have a 64bit processor in a 32bit system?
Yes, the CPU supports 64bit OS and 32bit OS
    > If it is a 32bit system, why should we bother putting x64 OS on it?
You can install everything what you want but the question is if you will get all the right drivers
