Equium A110-276 - why Shared Graphics Memory is not set to max 128 MB?

I have an Equium A110-276 and the maximum memory of the graphics is 128MB...
Now, when I bought this notebook, it says that the graphics memory is 128MB which is correct.
So I can play high graphics games and applications.
After 9 months, the shared memory for the graphics became 64MB! What the?!
Now when I play and use the applications which need 128MB, they're notifying me that my graphics memory is 64MB which is low and the applications may become slow.
Anyone had this problem?
I tried contacting Toshiba and they said that I need to put more RAM, I tried to call 4 times and they always say the same thing... but I already have 1024MB of RAM which is enough... My problem is why the motherboard or the BIOS is not sharing up to 128MB of RAM for the graphics...

The Equium A110-276 supports a Intel 945GM graphic chip!!!!
The Intel graphic cards assign the shared memory automatically!!! The graphic driver controls the memory and you cannot set the amount manually!!!
If the application needs more graphic memory then the driver will assign and share the memory automatically!
Dont worry, everything looks ok!

Equium A110-276 DVD image and sound playback problems

A couple of months ago my Equium A110-276 stopped playing DVDs correctly.
The sound and images on the DVDs are slow, sometimes skip and are generally out of sync.
I downloaded the latest drivers however it didnt make any difference. If i stream a video from youtube for example the picture and sound are both fine.
Anyone think of anything I can do to fix it?!

If the video stream looks ok then everything seems to be ok with the graphic card.
I think either there is something wrong with the CD/DVD driver or with the software itself.

It seems Toshiba has published a special version of BIOS for Windows Vista.
If you want you can check it on the Toshiba driver page.
But if your Vista runs correctly on the notebook with previous BIOS version you dont need to update the BIOS.
I would recommend updating the BIOS if any strange operational behavior will appear.

Equium A110-276 BIOS update for 32-bit Windows 7

Hello all, I'd like to update the BIOS on my Equium A110-276 and the two choices are 'OS Independent' and 'Windows Vista 32 Bit'. I have Windows 7 32-bit on this laptop. If I choose 'OS Independent' it warns me 'This Bios is NOT compatible for Notebooks with Windows Vista!!!' and if I choose 'Windows Vista 32 Bit' it reads 'This Bios is only compatible for Notebooks with Windows Vista!!!'
The exclamation marks are from Toshiba, not me ;)
So am I stuffed and need to stay with my current BIOS, or can I use the Windows Vista BIOS update?

I've been having some problems with the fan, and before I bring it in for repair I wanted to try all options. It appears to be seated/connected fine, the area around it is clean, I've done all of the fan-related troubleshooting I can except the last option which is to re-flash the BIOS which a number of people have had success with (with regards to the fan).
The original OS is Windows XP so I'd have to recover it back to XP and then re-update to Windows 7 and I'd rather have surgery than do that again! If it's not in the cards then it's a trip to the repair shop, I reckon. Thanks for responding!

Internal Speakers not working on Equium A110-276

I bought this Equium A110-276 a few months ago. I understand that connecting external speakers disables the internal speakers automatically. I have been using external speakers for quite some time, but now when I disconnect them the internal speakers are not working anymore.
Any ideas what I should do to get my internal speakers working again?

Hi,
usually the socket where you connect your external speakers uses a sprung metal contact to disconnect the built in speakers when the plug is pushed in. Removal of the plug from the external speakers should then allow the sprung contact to return to its normal position which will return power to the built in speakers.
It is possible that the plug from the external speakers has bent the sprung contact so that it no longer completes the circuit for the built in speakers. You will need to dismantle you nnotebook to get access to the socket to check.
You could ask your local authorised service partner to check for you so that you don't invalidate your warranty.

Shared Graphics Memory on W500

So,my problem is next.I am using a Lenovo Ww500 4063-cw9.I am using program 3ds max.I know its old but for 3d stuff its exelent.When i am doing something on scene in 3ds max its says that he dont have any more ram.So i I am interesting in decreasing my video memory on intel gma 4500mhd,So the task manager recognises all my memory.
I have 4gb ram but i only use 2520 MB,My intel graphic card takes almost 1,5 Gb memory,but i dont even use it.I have ati mobility firegl v5700,switchable graphics,I was looking at bios and i dont have an option for memory,and in intel driver also,Is there any way to decrase it,BeCAUSE 3ds max dosent take memory from reserved memory.(sorry for bad english )

I do believe Wendel is on the right path with the OS version. Depending on which version you have is dependent on if you have enough RAM showing in the OS. Here is a statement from the PSREF for your computer.
On ThinkPad
systems, even though it is possible to
physically install 4GB of memory, the actual
amount of memory addressable by
a 32-bit operating system will be limited
to 3GB. This limitation does not exist with
64-bit operating systems.

Also for the memory that is missing from the 3GB of RAM that you have showing is the RAM that is placed to the side for the Integrated graphics. This is done automatically but the computer. If the computer is changed from the integrated graphics to discrete graphics I do not believe there is a change in what the system recognizes nor what it stores for use later. The only thing I could suggest if your computer has all the specs to run the program physically then you would need to switch the OS from what I am suspecting is a 32-bit to a 64-bit OS.

Shared video memory is not wrking!

Hello, I just purchased the HP Pavillion dv7-1135nr, with the "ATI radeon HD 3500" graphics card with shared video memory and 2.0 ghz amd turion x2. Since the shared video memory can go up to 2 gb, I figured it would play half life 2 with ease. But I was wrong, it is lagging when I play the game! can you please tell me a way to increase the video memory manually? Thanks a lot for your help.

Well I have posted this many times over the years but the basic mistake is to equate video storage with video power. All the video memory in the world does not help if the video engine is not powerful enough to move the pixels.

The ATI Radeon HD 3200 (not 3500) that you have is a low power video chip. You are not the first to make this maistake and typically the sales people at Best Buy, etc. and even the advertising does not make it really clear that you are getting a business and entertainment video system, not for gaming.

I have checked Vista download page and your notebook A110 (PSAB2) is not listed there. Usually you need Toshiba controls but with Vista this tool is not available separately. I presume it is a part of Value Added Package.
Have you already installed anything downloaded from Toshiba download page http://pc-support.toshiba-europe.com/vista/ ?

Equium A110-276: Cannot install virtual sound for Windows Vista

When i'm on xp, i got a toshiba virtual sound. when i've installed vista, i can't install the toshiba virtual sound. it says "virtual sound doesn't support your computer". anyone know why? the toshiba virtual sound i'm installing came from toshiba value added package for vista.

I have downloaded the value added package but there is no virtual sound.

By the way: did you select the right unit? Your notebook should is a part of the PSAB2E series.

Equium A110-276 not able to shut down or put into hibernate mode

With the ac mains adaptor connected to laptop, I am unable to shutdown or put into hibernate mode. When shutting down or going into hibernate, the computer appears to do everything correctly until the power is shut off. When power is shut down there is a two second delay after which the computer re-boots again. This problem does not occur with the ac mains adaptor removed from computer (battery only).
Problem started after my husband inadvertantly connected mains adaptor whilst computer was booting up. Have looked at BIOS settings and all ok; have looked at power settings in Control Panel and all looks ok.
Can anyone please help???

As far as I know the Toshiba Power saver controls the going into standby and the hibernation mode.
You should firstly remove your power saver and then after clean removing and after new rebooting you should install the version from the Toshiba driver page.
If this will not solve the problem you should try to update the BIOS. But be careful. Be sure that you use the right BIOS and the right BIOS update procedure!

Why the graphic card does not support directv2 pc?

I have HP Envy 15 early 2012 3033cl, OS Windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I just downloaded the direct tv app to watch my recorded programs but is not working. I have the AMD HD 7690 M graphic card, and intel's other card I don't know what model that one is. When I use Intel's card I get audio and a green screen. When I use the AMD card I get a message "DIRECTV2PC cannot play this video because your graghic card does not currently support screen capture protection for protected content. Try updating your graphic card driver or modify your driver settings."

Ipod touch supports bluetooth for stereo headsets/speakers and some peer to peer apps from the app store.
Why is not a question that can be answered here.

Why is my memory usage quickly reaching my max RAM, even after a reboot?

Okay so, I have a macbook with 8GB of RAM and just recently I noticed some issues while playing my gambit of online games. Naturally I closed them out and checked my activity monitor and noticed that my RAM usage was at 7.99GB. I figured restarting would fix this issue and for a moment it seemed to. However my memory usage quickly climbed back up to very nearly 8GB.
Now I am not one to fret over high RAM usage but in this case my entire computer is running slowly and most of my 'heavier' applications are refusing to launch at all. My network is also seems to be choked, it was never fast but when I open a program that uses the internet I get maybe 5KB/s, laughable really.
It seems like within a few minutes of using my laptop the memory climbs rapidly then I'm right back in the same mess in about 4 minutes. This seems like some memory leak issue, but the odd thing is none of the processes look to be memory hungry. All the processes in the activity monitor account for about 1.7GB of RAM yet the memory usage is already back to 7.97GB and I am just running FireFox and Safari at the moment.
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!

Like many others I am a developer who is new to crystal reports. I have researched a lot for setting report parameters and although my code seem to be working when I open the report through code I'm always asked to re-enter the parameter values.

Working with Agilent Infiniium 54830B DSO and Labview: Why is the GPIB device not displayed in MAX?

I want to use Labview to access Agilent 54830b scope, but the GPIB device is not shown in Agilent Connection Expert or in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
In Agilent Connection Expert (Version 16.2.15825.0) the GPIB0 Interface is displayed, but no Instrument is shown. In MAX (Version 4.6.1f,0) it is the same problem. The GPIB0::INTFC is shown under Miscellenous VISA resources, but no Instrument is shown.
I installed the driver for the agilent and tried to get an answer of the GPIB device with an Initialize.vi of Lab View but it is always shown an error.
Can anyone help me?

What? Your instrument has to be connected in order for MAX to find it. So, yes, you need the cable to connect between the instrument and your computer.
