Equium A210-171 - Maximum hard drive capacity?

What is the max capacity hard drive the equium a210-171 can take?

Hi turboiwan,
As far as I know Equium A210-171 has already SATA interface for HDD so you can install every HDD with this interface because on SATA standard are no capacity limits. That means 500GB HDDs or more would work.
For example I upgraded my notebook with 500GB Western Digital HDD and this worked great.

  • Kernel Panic G4 D1.25 MDD - Maximum Hard Drive Capacity/Accessibility??

In solving my Kernel Panic from September 2, 2008 post I have been running "Panic Free" for a number of days.
I added a Firewire/eSATA/USB2 Nexstar external drive case w/WD Black 1 TB Drive) and I get a Kernel Panic instantly! It happens with Firewire and eSATA both.
I am running 4 x 500 GB IDE WD Caviar drives internally and what I want to know is there a "Maximum Hard Drive" amount that a G4 MDD can access at one time??
Is there a maximum of 2 TB of drive storage it can access or ??

No. It is likely the Nexstar's firmware is not compatible with the bus being used. See my FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/firewirebug2.html
The Firewire bus as long as its power draw is not over its specs, will handle up to 63 devices in a chain. The secret of course is for every Firewire device to have its own power source separate of the computer, and the chain not to be too long. That chain is defined more clearly here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firewire
USB has a theoretical maximum of 127 devices.

  • Maximum hard drive capacity f or hp dv8

I have a HP DV8 with 2 320GB hard drives. I would like to put 2 750 GB WD Black Scorpio drives in the PC. Is this possible?
What is the maximum capacity for this laptop? Thanks.

The problem is the enclosure. The older FireWire to
ATA chip-sets had the 128 GByte limit. Newer ones
don't. Maybe there is a firmware update for the
    enclosure.
If there's no firmware update for your enclosure and you decide to buy another one, ones with the Oxford 911 chipset are limited to 128 GB, ones with the Oxford 911+ or higher support drives of larger capacities.
There are other ATA to Firewire chipsets out there, but the Oxfords are generally the most reliable.

  • Maximum Hard Drive Capacity for 1.8 GHz G5

My boot drive is full and I want to install a larger one. I have several questions for the mavens on this forum:
    1. What is the maximum sized SATA drive for my system? SATA or SATA 2?
    2. Can I use Time Machine App connected to a 1TB external drive to restore all my files onto a new Upper bay drive?
    3. The Optical Drive is broken. Can I install a new one and which one(s) do you recommend?

    1. I believe 2.1 TB is the limit for PPC Macs. If a SATA 2 drive make sure it has jumpers to slow it to SATA 1 speeds, (pins 5&6 on WD drives).
    2. Is the external drive Firewire?
    3. Easy...

The largest 2.5" SATA HDDs of 9.5 mm thickness that I am aware of are 1 TB in capacity.  There is a 12.5 mm thick  HDD that will fit some MBPs.  But I have not seen any of larger capacity.
Are there now 2 TB HDDs available for MBPs?    If so, I am interested.
    Ciao.
Both OWC and Crucial have SSDs of about 1 TB capacity.

  • Maximum hard drive on Portege M200

I've recently bought a Portege M200 on ebay and I'm thinking of installing a new 250GB IDE hard drive.
Is there a maximum hard drive size for this model?

    Hi,
It's hard to say if a 250gb HD will fit in your M200, but I think it's not impossible.
The limits of the (possibly) bios restrictions are not precisely given, but for example in my 3110 ( an oldie with a 6gb HD ) I installed a 40gb HD without any problems. ( despite pessimistic advices ! )
In case of bios-restrictions most HD-manufacturers have special advices and/or software programs to deal with such restrictions
If you have a 250gb HD at your disposal, there is nothing wrong just trying to install it ; in the first installation-screens of XP it will be clear if it' will be accepted at its full capacity or not
EDIT : if there will be a bios-limitation than is it will be most likely at 137gb ; you can use your 250gb by making 2 partitions of 125gb each
let us know if you succeed !

  • UCS C series maximum hard drive size

Looking for info on the maximum hard drive size support on teh UCS C series.  I have a C200M2 that I added a 4TB drive, I have updated the server to the latest firmware and BIOS however the server shows the drive size is 2TB.

Hi!  and welcome to the community mate!
Here is the table that shows the supported disk's PID for the C200 server:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c200m2_sff_specsheet.pdf
If you successfully installed ONE HDD of 4GB and made it work, you were lucky cause I don't see any disk with that size, I have not even seen a disk of that size for UCS yet.
I am wondering if perhaps you installed 4 disks of 1TB and configured them in RAID 1 which would explain the reason for the size to go down to half of the capacity of the array as RAID 1 is a mirror.
Let me know if I misunderstood you.

  • Equium A210 -171 - how do I re-install Vista

    Hi,
I was updating the O/S (Vista 32Bit) on-line from Microsoft when the laptop (Equium A210 -171) shutdown.
It may have reached the overheating limit and this is the reason that it shutdown (me guessing).
I let the computer cool down and when I tried to boot from the instructions as per
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=1845345& rpn=PSL48U&modelFilter=L45-S7423&selCategory=3&selFamily=107376866
the computer seems to lock up.
When I get to boot in Safemode the computer seems to lock up on \windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys or some other system file.
The action of pressing 0 and then turning on the computer with the Product Recovery CD-ROM in the drive also results in a lock up of the system resulting in a black screen only. Pressing C at startup also produces the same effect.
As a test I put a Linux Ubuntu CD-ROM into the drive to see if I could run another O/S on a different HD.
This action was successful. But my children need Windows for the games that they play.
So, my question is ... how do I re-install Vista. The factory re-install setup seems to be not functioning.
    Many thanks,
    Tommy.

    > As a test I put a Linux Ubuntu CD-ROM into the drive to see if I could run another O/S on a different HD.
I mean you have installed a Linux on different partition and not HDD. Right.
Well, this means that HDD is OK and the notebook should run with Windows as well.
    > The action of pressing 0 and then turning on the computer with the Product Recovery CD-ROM in the drive also results in a lock up of the system resulting in a black screen only. Pressing C at startup also produces the same effect.
First of all I recommend start the BIOS and to set booting from CD/DVD drive at the beginning.
Then save the changes and reboot the unit.
While pressing the power button, press F12.
This allows you to get the boot menu on the screen.
Insert the Windows installation disk (or Toshiba recovery disk) and choose ODD (CD/DVD drive)
Then notebook should start to boot from CD/DVD drive.
Note; if you are using Windows CD (not recovery disk) then you should change an option in BIOS.
Set the SATA mode to compatible and save the changes.

  • Equium A210-171 - Vista Resume Failure

Equium A210-171 running Windows Vista Home 32-bit.
On Boot, I get Windows resume loader screen indicating error and asking to select either 'continue with system resume' or 'delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu'. BUT keyboard will not respond (not even to select caps lock). Have to turn off at switch to restart.
Any key press after Toshiba boot splash screen produces a blank screen (even f8 and other function keys).
Tried default BIOS settings to no effect.
This problem occurred a couple of months ago and was resolved by wiping Hard disk and putting on a new copy of windows from a Vista CD. Now it is back again - cannot keep starting from scratch!

Have managed to recover normal Windows boot, by removing the hard disk, connecting it to another machine and renamed then deleted the hibernate file.
The hard disk checks out ok on testing, but there does not seem to be any reference to SMART support in this BIOS. It seems that windows or power failure during hibernate was the source of the Hibernate issue
However the problem with the keyboard still remains Any key-press between the end of the Toshiba splash screen and the opening of the operating system freezes the machine, and an external USB keyboard is similarly affected.
Hence it is not possible to use F8 to select windows repair options, and it is not possible to Boot from a DVD/CD if that boot operation requires press enter to boot from DVD as does the Windows install DVD or Anti-Virus boot CDs.
When this happened before, the BIOS was upgraded to ensure that a corrupt BIOS was not the source of the problem. However, the Toshiba BIOS upgrade software prevents reinstallation of the same or older version of the BIOS. So, as there has been no upgrade since version 2.0, BIOS replacement is not an option - BAD software design by Toshiba!!!
Any Ideas to clear this problem?

If you feel confident, you can do it yourself.
If not, Apple can do it for the small matter of money.
    If you go to http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/
Find you Mac on this page it has videos that show you how to replace the disk drive.

  • How do I find out what my total hard drive capacity is?

    Hello, everybody!
    My name is Evelyn Harvey.
I know that I am probably overlooking something obvious, but I hope that you all will bear with me!
I have noticed that when I click on the "waste paper basket", it tells me items are in the trash, and  how many GB worth of stuff is in the trash, and how much free space (rounded off to the nearest tenth of a gigabyte, I believe), is still available on my hard drive.
What I can't seem to find out is, what is the theoretical total storage capacity of my hard drive?  That is to say, how much space would there be if I didn't have any software or files on my hard drive at all?  I know that they probably told me that when I first bought this particular iMac, but I do not remember now.
The reason why I want to know this, is because I want to find out what per centage of my total hard drive capacity is currently being used!  There must be a way -- an easy way -- to find that out.  Mustn't there?
    Thanks in advance!
    Evelyn Harvey

Select the hard drive's icon on your Desktop. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the upper section you will see the information for capacity, available, and used.

  • Hard Drive Capacity not Changing after moving files

My internal hard drive capacity is shown at 249.58 GB and I only had about 1.97 GB available. I moved 122.89 GB of photos to an external hard drive partition plus many seldom used files and folders (not sure of the MB or GB size). Now my hard drive capacity shows 249.58 GB size with 2.36 GB available.
Having moved more that 122.89 GB off my internal hard, why do I not have at least 122 GB available because I moved the photos to free up that space on my internal hard drive?
How can I regain that space the photos used and/or why can't I regain it?
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
    Vernon

After posting the previous message, I remembered that I had not emptied the trash So, that is in the process of happening now since I copied the photos to the external drive and moved them from my internal hd to trash!
I'll check on iPhoto's trash later.
    Thanks.

  • Maximum hard drive size for 350 MHz slot loading?

    Hello,
What is the maximum hard drive size for a 350 MHz slot loading imac?
I am aware of a 128 GB limit on imacs. Does the 128 GB hard drive limit apply to all imac CRTs or just the earlier models?
Here are the specs of my imac:
    Blueberry 350 MHz
    Slot loading CD-ROM drive,
    6 GB hard drive
Is the maximum hard drive size limit of 127GB apply to this particular model?
    Thanks

Yes, the last CRT iMac was in 2001. The first machines with built-in greater than 127 GB support were released in June 2002, as this article explains:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86178
So all CRT iMacs have that limiation.

The 8 GB limit is explained here:

  • What is the maximum hard drive size for Imac 8,2, what is the maximum hard drive size for Imac 8,2

Am wondering what is the maximum hard drive one can put into this computer. I think it's a 3TB but I read somewhere the drive needs a jumper to bring it back to 3mb level cache. Can anyone confirm these details please? I currently have a 320GB drive installed.

    Hi Robbie,
I found no iMac 8,2, do you mean iMac 8,1 ???
There is no practical limit to the size, the biggest ones made will work fine... assuming the all important SATA 3 Gb/s speed, WD drives use a jumper on pins 5&6 to slow it from 6 Gb/s to 3 Gb/s.
    Some drives do it automatically...
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/HGST/0F14681/
And some do not step down properly at all.
