Equium A60 keyboard layout troubles

Hello folks... I got a problem with my notebook if someone would to help me ....
My computer is a equium A60, the keyboard layout is : English-United Kingdon, because I bought the laptop in England last year.. but I've moved to my country - brasil, and I can't configure the keyboard to use the brazilian portuguese accents, I tried so many different layouts but no one worked... so, how can I get further support to sort it out? I already sent an email to toshiba brasil and toshiba england asking for some help, it's very important....
thanks a lot...

Hi!
I alreay tried the brazilian abnt and abnt2 layout and didn't work... I tried the input language : portuguese brasil and layout: brazilian abnt(&abnt2)... didn't work ... I know the keyboard layout is UK, but I don't know why it doesn't want to work, because if a choose the input language as portuguese and the keyboard layout as UK it should work, isn't? Also, I tried US international, US, UK extended, portuguese from portugal, spanish, etc.. etc...
What can I do? I really need to sort it out, is someone knows the way to fix that problem, please help me !!
thanx man !!!!

  • Tecra A4: Bios passwords rejected: keyboard layout trouble?

Before traveling I have decided to protect my professional laptop (Tecra A4) with both a Bios password and a harddrive password.
I went into the Bios, entered the main password, went on page 2, enter the disk password, rebooted, got prompted for the password, type it... rejected. Tried 3 times and the laptop stoped.
What is going on here? I *know* the password I typed, plus I typed it twice in the Bios screen, so I am *sure* of what I typed.
Sooo I am suspected a keyboard layout issue, as I have an Azerty layout.
Is it possible that when in the Bios admin the layout is one way and in the initial password screen, another way? I have used "a" and "m", letters that move between Qwerty and Azerty.
Of course I have tried typing my password with "q" instead of "a" and ";" instead of "m", but to no avail.
I am locked. This is driving me nuts.
    Any help welcome,
    David

    Hi
I have investigated a little bit on the Toshiba website and found this Toshiba document:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB5A0164000IR01.htm
Well, if you will not solve this issue you have to contact the Toshiba service.
He can downgrade the BIOS or remove the BIOS password.

  • Troubles with graphic card driver at Equium A60

    Hello everybody,
At first sorry for my bad English.
I have some trouble with the driver of my graphic card. After a new installation I just wanted to install the driver of the ATI Radeon 7000 (I have an Equium A60), after this I had to ascertain that my pc was out of order. The trouble was because the driver, I'm sure, because after a new installation, without the VGA-drive, my notebook is working, somehow.... I mean, I'm sure it could work better if the graphic would have an own driver.
I have been searching on the web and I did see that this was not a new problem; many people have the same trouble with it. Somehow, the pc's own driver is not compatible.
Could anyone help me to find a solution for my problem?
    Thanks a lot,
    Eurytheus

Sorry my friend but your posting sounds really unbelievable. Original Toshiba driver is not compatible with the hardware. It can not be. It can not be the truth!
Your notebook model is almost 4 years old and I presume Toshiba have had enough time to react if display driver is somehow problematic. I recommend you to back up all your data and try to install your notebook using original recovery image. If there is no hardware problem notebook should work well again.
Sorry but I do not see any other solution there because the driver is definitely tested and it must work well.

  • Trouble with norwegian keyboard layout in gnome 3

    Hello.
I have installed gnome 3 from extra, got gdm running. But i can not use the norwegian keyboard layout. In the logonscreen in gdm it is the norwegian layout, but when im loged in as root it si "us" keyboard layout.
I can use "setxkbmap no" to set the layout to norwegian. But a rebot or restart of X negates that, and I will have to do it again.

Thx for quick respond and thx for the headsup on use of code tags.
I tried to comment out keybord section in 10-evdev.conf and use that 10-keyboard.conf, without the commenting, instead. My keyboard stoped responding at all by that.
I type setxkbmap no, have not put it in .xinitrc yet. I wanted to find a more "permanent" solution to the problem. I have also tryed to comment out
    Option "XkbModel" "fscaa1667g"
    but to no use.

    sor for bad eng.

Perhaps I'm not following your logic.  But why must you work with remote images?
Let's say your products page is uploaded to https://yourDomain.com/
and your local images are in an images folder that uploads to https://yourDomain.com/images/
Given that workflow, everything will be on the secure server so there is no reason to use remotely hosted images during development.

  • Does anyone know how to make an icon for a new keyboard layout?

I have added a couple of keyboard layouts to my input sources and would dearly provide them with distinctive icons, but all icon makers I find on the net seem to cater to PCs only.

Going to the App Store, there is a link for support.   That takes me to a facebook page:
    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Friendly-for-Netflix/
Which when I lookup the info, takes me to:
    http://www.oecoway.com/
Since there are no support links on the latter link, I would just message the owner of the Facebook page and tell them of your troubles.  If they are non-responsive, you may want to just as the App Store reverse the charge, with the feedback that the developer is non-responsive to user questions.  If it is functional for the $5 you paid, just keep it, and hope for an update you can use.

  • Application hotkeys and keyboard layouts in KDE[SOLVED]

    Hi,
For as long as I use Linux, I've been annoyed by this particular trouble: change layout from en to ru, for instance, and get your hotkeys (like Ctrl-S) unresponsive. Granted, that the trouble sometimes goes - to come back later on . I tried Google, but no luck. Which is kinda funny, because any bilingual user must be all too familiar with the issue. I can't even be sure whether it's some systemwide setting or an application responsibility.
Now I've run into a something like a perfect testcase :
    OpenOffice 3.0.1 and Firefox 3.0.8:
    (1) In Arch the hotkeys like Ctrl-S and Ctrl-T work in both apps regardless of the keyboard layout. (KDE3 and KDE4)
    (2) In Pardus the hotkeys in both apps work in en layout but do not in ru layout. (KDE3)
    What is it?
Last edited by Llama (2009-04-05 13:27:48)

Control Center(KDE)->Keyboard Layout->Layout->Include latin layout checkbox needs to be checked. After that Command lines for the respective layouts look like
    setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout us
setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout ru,us -variant ,winkeys
    The trouble's gone.

  • Non-US keyboard layout in Xorg

    Hello,
I have a Belgian keyboard layout and had some troubles with the Alt-Gr key.
We combine this key with other keys to generate special symbols like the Euro sign or the @ character for example.
I found several solutions on several websites but they didn't seem to work for me.
I now added the following line in my /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and now it's working:
    setxkbmap be
Perhaps it's not a bad idea to add this setxkbmap command to the Xorg package, since I noticed I was not the only
one who was struggling with this problem.
    Regards,
    Solley

    My XORG look like that:
    Section "InputDevice"

  • Khmer keyboard layout

Hello, I am trying to use the Khmer fonts and keyboard layout that came with my MacBookPro.  They were available to me through the Langauge & Text preferences in Settings.  My question is, how do I type the sub-consonants or feet of the consonants.  They do not appear anyplace on the keyboard that I can see, so I assume it is some combination of keys that is required to type them, but I cannot figure out what that combination is.  Does anyone use this font and layout?  And if you do, how do you type the sub-consonants or feet?  Thank you.

    KarenLN616 wrote:
I had to hit the "j"at EXACTLY the same time as the consonant I wanted the sub-consonant of
That is not right.  You should be able to wait as along as you want between the three keystrokes  consonant -- j --consonant.  It sounds like you might be trying to use MS Word for Mac.  If so, I recommend you use any other app (Pages, TextEdit, Nisus Writer, OpenOffice) instead, because Word does not support Indic or SE Asian scripts correctly and will just give you a lot of trouble.

  • How to enable widescreen resolution for external monitor on Equium A60?

    Hi
I have got a Equium A60 with a ATI Radion Mobility 7000 grahpics chip in it. A short while ago the LCD died and decided to use a external monitor instead of replacing it. However, the external monitor is a 22" widescreen monitor which the computer does not provide a suitable display resolution for. Is there any way of updating the graphics card driver to provide widescreen formats. I have looked on the toshiba updates but there is nothing any newer on there and ATI are unwilling to offere support on a laptop.
    Any ideas ?

    Hi
You cannot choose your favorite resolution because the graphic driver does not support it.
Possibly the 3rd party driver would support your favorite display resolution but to be honest I would not use such drivers because it could cause some serious notebook troubles.
The point is that such 3rd party drivers are not tested and not certified by Toshiba.
Therefore the usage is only at your own risk.

Ive been having problems with my start up! i keep getting an error message saying i have a missing driver!
    msg reads error- "system32\drivers\ntfs.sys"
    Also getting message....
"windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    system32\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys"
Unfortuntely I cant seem to find my original start up disc & I dont want to lose non backed up files......not too savvy when it comes to problems with this......
Can anyone give some advice please, this is driving me crazy! lol
    Alan.

    Heyho,
seems you are in big trouble. I think the only chance to backup your files is to get some live linux CD (knoppix, mandrake, ubuntu) and a external harddisk to copy the files from your internal harddisk to the external attached harddisk.
The best way would be to ask a technician or some guy which is VERY familiar with computers to backup your data.
After that you should reinstall your operating system but without the recovery CD you are out of luck. Then you have not many options.
One of these options is to search for the startup disc or how people call it: "Recovery CD". If this one is not available then you should contact a local authorized toshiba dealer or servicepartner and obtain a new recovery disc. The last option is to purchase a Windows XP or ask someone (family, friends, whoever) for a Windows XP for install.
    Greetings

  • Equium A60-191: Modem issue - Only analog phone lines are supported

My Equium A60 was powered up when lightning struck nearby and caused the electricity supply to go off and back on.
The OS is XP Home and my ISP is AOL. When I try to access the Net by DUN, I receive the repeated error message:
"Connected phone line is not compatible with this modem. Only analog phone lines are supported."
My desktop computer, which also uses AOL, still connects to the same phone line without any problem.
I have rebooted the A60 several times; changed and tried out 2 phone connnection cables - both work; the phone line works fine; I have reinstalled the driver provided on this site; removed the tick from the box that says to wait for the dial phone; checked out that the modem is in working and on the Device Manager list. All of this is to no avail.
Troubleshooter is suggesting that COM 3 is not enabled. I cannot see COM 3 listed in Device Manager, under Ports.
I have tried Google and ASK with the error message. There are not many posts and it appears that the Toshiba modem is in fact an Agere. This makes seems to be the subject of some of the complaints.
Finally I have uninstalled the driver/modem, AOL and one other DUN connection. I rebooted and went through the process of installing "New Hardware" and AOL. Whilst the modem is enabled and allegedly working... I am still unable to connect to the Net. I reinstalled an additional 'pay as you go' ISP. When I try to dial out on that it generates the error 680. It does this even when the box is unchecked, for wait for a dial tone.
I would be most grateful if anybody could help. I have run out of ideas.
    Many thanks.

    Hi
You are right, the modem support the Agere Modem Chip.
You will not find the COM3 in the device manager because the modem uses not real com port. Its a virtual com port.
I think you should start the diagnostic tool test and check if the Modem has no malfunction.
Additional you should delete the connection in the Region Select Utility and after new reboot create a new one.
I found also the useful Microsoft article about the Troubleshooting network and dial-up connections.
    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/trouble_all.mspx?mfr=true
and here you will find info about the DUNS error 680:

  • Equium A60 won't boot properly

A puff of smoke came from the keyboard of my Equium A60 and now it can only be booted in Safe Mode. Everything seems to work OK in Safe Mode, but if I try to boot it normally it says: 'No bootable disc in DVD drive' and the following message appears:
For Realtek RTL8139(x)/8130/810x PCI Fast Ethernet Controller v 2.13(020326) PXE-E61-Media Test Fail, Check Cable.
    PXE-MOF-Exiting PXE ROM.
I understand that this means that it is trying to boot from the LAN !
When operating in Safe Mode the C-drive seems OK, so there does not seem to be anything wrong with the HDD. But in Safe Mode I cannot connect to the Internet of course.
    I'm using Windows XP.
Anyone out there who can tell me what's going on ?
    All help gratefully received.

    Hello Collin
    > A puff of smoke came from the keyboard of my Equium A60
Please do not make experiments anymore and contact authorized service partner in your country as soon as possible. Who knows what is wrong there. Smoke can indicate to serious hardware problem and you should be careful with it.
I repeat again: please do not risk because it can end with more damaged hardware. Contact service and explain them the situation. Address and phone number you can find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com Support & Downloads Find an ASP.

  • Equium A60 - What software do I need for FN keys?

Finally purchased a new motherboard for my daughters Equium A60.
After installing all the drivers I have a few keys missing on the keyboard and the function keys do not work. Does anyone know what piece of software I need to load from the Toshiba site to get them all to work as I dont have the original Toshiba disk for this model? The board is a A60-157.
    Many thanx

    Hi
    What OS did you install?
If you have installed XP on Equium A60 you can answer this question by yourself because on the Toshiba website you can find the installation instructions document. This is a list for the recommend driver installation order.
    Check this!!
For the FN keys and all other special function you need the Toshiba tools:
    TOSHIBA Console
    TOSHIBA Controls
TOSHIBA Hotkey Utilities for Display Devices
    TOSHIBA Hotkey Utilities
    TOSHIBA Touchpad Utility
    TOSHIBA Utilities
