Equium L20: Keyboard keys replacing

Had to remove 2 keys on the keyboard to clean away a small piece of wood that had slipped in. However for the life of me I can replace the keys correctly. I'm used two notebooks and could always clip them back no problem at all.
Can't get these back on for love nor money...any body offer any help (ideally diagramatical)?
PS: Keys and plastic backing are definately not broken / snapped / cracked or lost.
Many Thanks

Hi Graeme
I don't know how to help you. Usually, to fix the key caps again on the keyboard you have to press down only the caps to the place where the keys were placed before.
A different procedure is not known to me.
Maybe something is broken (but you said it's not a case).
However if you cannot fix the keys yourself so I would recommend contacting a service guy with more experience for the help

We buy single key replacements at Machina ( I HAVE NO AFFILIATION EXCEPT FOR 100% SATISFIED CUSTOMER)
    http://www.machinaelectronics.com/store/
They're out of Chicago, IL and will provide the entire assembly including the rubber chute and black and white braces.
We've had 100% perfect results including the prompt shipping.
You can also remap the key  and reassign the left shift key touch typing with missing shift keys is just as cumbersome as a person who drives  every day with a manual transmission and begins to use an automatic and their left foot constantly gropes for the missing clutch. Your left pinky is banged up worse than Bernie Madoff's underwear and it eventually drives you nuts.

  • Bluetooth Trackpoint Keyboard - Key replacement

Hi all, I am bluetooth trackpoint keyboard owner. Unfortunately, there were some keys broken since I put it in my bag and it was directly stricken by other objects inside (may be my car key or other hard object I don't know). I just wonder if you guys are aware of any place that I can purchase single keys for replacement?
Since I bought the keyboard over Taobao (Chinese ebay) I am afraid there is no warranty for my keyboard... Thanks in advance!

  • Equium L20 - keyboard creates the wrong characters

    Hi there.
my keyboard is not making the right buttons. everytime i press 'u' it comes up with 4. i = 5, o = 6, p = -, and so on and so forth. the onlyway i can remove this is by holding down the Fn button inbetween Ctrl and Alt. how can i take this keyboard lock off for good?
feel free to email [email protected]
    thanks for your time.

    Hi
I agree with Sam and Jack. If you watch carefully the keyboard you will notice the keyboard has a small numeric block and all symbols are grey and placed at the bottom sloped keys side.
Like the guys already said you can enable or disable this numeric block using FN+F11 key combination.

  • Replacing keyboard keys

Am I able to go to an Apple store and have a few keyboard keys replaced? A few of them have become sticky due to a minor liquid spill, (after clean-up) but are still fully functioning.

Not likely. Stores don't usually stock keycaps, and I don't believe Apple supplies them individually. Your best bet is to find someone who has a dead keyboard to get them from.
But stepping back to the actual problem: it's very unlikely that any liquid has remained on your own keycaps if you've given them a good wash, so it's equally unlikely that replacing them will remedy whatever is causing them to stick. The problem is almost certainly below them.

  • Why can't I get a replacement keyboard key from Apple?

    Rant version
I was delivered a new 15 inch Macbook Pro with Retina screen with a broken 'V' key (literally, just the black plastic panel has a small broken clasp). I was unable to get a genius bar appointment anywhere within London Zone 1-2, Regent St, Stratford and Covent Garden all just tell me there are no appointments available. I called the Apple store in Stratford City to see if they could order a new 'V' key to the store so I could pick it up and click it on. They suggested I call Apple customer services as they wouldn't be able to help me unless I booked a Genius bar appointment, and obviously they had none. I was informed that I would have to send the entire machine away for at least 5 working days and then wait for a replacement to be shipped out. This is a total P.I.T.A as I have already started important projects on this machine.
I managed to book a Genuis Bar appointment in Bromley (30 minutes drive from my house) and called to see if it would be possible for them to order the part in and fit it on the day, during my appointment. They said I would have to come in, just to show them the machine, and then they could order the part using my serial number. I asked why I couldn't just give them my serial number and come in when the part was delivered. They said that the telephone operator at the store could not make any sort of contact with the genius bar, regardless of the fact they are in the same building.
I'd like to point out that everyone I have spoken to have been extremely nice, and understood my frustration, they just haven't been able to do anything that goes outside of their very limited protocol.I find it unacceptable that a company as powerful as Apple, are unable to post a keyboard key to a customer.
As a computer enthusiast, this is the easiest and most simple problem I have ever had with a machine. It has also been the most common-sense defying process I have ever had the misfortune of being a part of. If it were up to me I would just pay the £3 for a replacement online, but Apple have changed the positions of the clasps from the unibody model by about a few microns, and I don't feel like waiting until someone decides to scrap a new RMBP.
I don't mind if Apple don't want me to do the repair myself, that I may need to go through the enigmatic ritual of the genius bar to get this done (heaven forbid anyone but a Genius click the 'V' key on). I don't even mind if it takes a couple of weeks for the part to get there, I just want a replacement key, stuck on this laptop, without wiping the entire machine or sending it away for a week.
    Short version:
If anyone knows where I can get a replacement 'v' key for the new 15inch Retina Macbook Pro then I'll love you forever.

Yes it is sad but true I think. I EZprint to do my pano's and they turn out excellent. Give them a try.

  • Chances keyboard keys can be replaced the same day?

So, I am leaving the country on Tuesday and only have today to get two of the keys on my MP Pro keyboard replaced. I already have an appointment scheduled at an Apple Store but I am really wondering what the chances are that they will be able to replace them today.
    Any experience on the issue?

    Hi SebKom,
There have been a number of posts here about people having keys replaced at an Apple Store while they wait. One I remember was even no charge. I suspect it depends on whether or not they have the correct keys around, the time to do it, and are "in the mood to be helpful" (you could probably impact that to some degree). I imagine this last week before Christmas is going to be busy for them, to polite and patient might go a long way.

  • Keyboard button replacement for individual/single keys available anywhere?

My HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC has one (1) key cover missing on the keyboard.
(Product number: A6X02UAR#ABA Serial number: 4CB2151110)
The missing key cover or "button" is the Right Arrow ( > ) directional key, which is shown in red and  illustrated below:
           ^=Up
    <=Left     >=Right
Any suggestions on where and how I may be able to obtain just this one missing key cover instead of purchasing and/or replacing the entire keyboard?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Equium L20-197 - replacement battery

    Hello.
I have noticed (at the wrong time too) that the battery life of my Toshiba Equium L20-197 has POOR battery life.
On a long charge it lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes max.
I'm looking to extend the battery life of my unit. The problem is that the More4You doesn't list any batteries for my model.
Where can I find a beter battery for my laptop? The select options for a product featur on the More4You page, doesn't list compatible batteries.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Change keyboard keys

    Hi,
I bought a new Macbook Pro in Switzerland with the swiss (german) keyboard. How can I change the keyboard to have the spanish or us keyboard keys. Does Apple change it for free?
    Thanks

Change it for free… TANSTAAFL, my friend.
Call a local Apple Store -- there's one in Barcelona
    <http://www.apple.com/es/retail/storelist/>
or Apple Authorized Service Provider. I bet you won't like the price.
The alternatives are key overlays or replacing the keycaps (something I wouldn't try). Or just learn to live with it…

  • Equium L20 - Unable to start up Windows in any mode

    Hello
I was wondering if you can help me. I have an Equium L20 -197, windows xp home edition. (Also technically challenged! :)) When I started my laptop first time today, I got this message -
"We are sorry for the inconvenience but windows did not start up successfully..."
and it gave me a few methods of starting it up:
    Safe Mode
    Safe Mode with Networking
    Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last Know Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
    and
    Start Windows Normally
I was able to start press start windows normally and computer started fine. I shut down the computer OK, then restarted it later on without any problems. I then restored to an earlier setting as system was not running well. Restore seemed to go OK but then my computer froze, so had to shut down by pressing down the power button.
However, the laptop will now not reboot. Just as I think it is starting it goes to the error message and none of the options will work to start the computer and I am now stuck on an endless loop of the above message.
I do not want to use the product recovery disc, as it will wipe all of the hard drive and I have info that I need to access! I do have a product recovery CD for a Fujitsu that has windows xp home edition sp 1 on it. Is there any way that I can use this to start my computer or is there something else that I should do? I was thinking of pressing F12 and if it is possible to use the other disc Fujitsu to kick start my system but not sure if that is possible. I did not have an xp disc installation disc from toshiba, when I bought the computer. :(
I have been told by a computer guy over the phone that it sounds as if I need a new hard drive but would like to explore other methods before going down that route.
Many thanks in advance for any help that you can give me. Susi

    Hi SusiB_1,
Unfortunately if you cant start Windows in any these modes you have only one option and this is reinstalling Windows. I mean what you should do?! You can do nothing in this case
As you wrote the Toshiba recovery disk wipes the whole HDD and thats right because its necessary to get factory settings back. But normally you should have a backup of your data or not???
If not you can access the data if you put the HDD in an external HDD case. From another computer you have access to these data now.
By the way: For Toshiba recovery disk you dont need a product key. Everything is already be done in recovery image and no activation is necessary. :)

  • Can the keyboard be replaced with a backlit keyboard?

I have a late 2010 MacBook Air with a plain keyboard.  Is it possible to have it replaced with a backlit keyboard?

The logicboard on the 2010 MacBook Airs do not have the requisite electical connectors and controls for the support of the keyboard of the 2011 style. As well, the keyboard/keys itself are different and would not mate with the case.

  • Pavilion dm4 keyboard keys don't consistently respond, especially the space bar

Key board response is inconsistent unless I deliberately press each key. Especially poor with space bar

my sense is that this is a common, sporadic problem for the pavilion series. mine has been through two help sessions and one return during which the keyboard was replaced without effect. i have no read of a real fix. mine got better though far from cured with a keyboard driver uninstall/reinstall.
i think it is a systemic issue that HP is trying to ignore since it effects much of the Pavilion line.
