Hi buddy,
> But still think bios is corrupted
If you think so, then contact your authorized service provider. The technicians can check your notebook and try to reflash the BIOS. The technicians are really experts and so this shouldnt be a problem for them.
Here you can search for one:

  • Satellite A200 - Cannot boot from Recovery disk - code 1

I have Vista business and my laptop is currently running slow and is full of rubbish.
I have in the past used my recovery disc to completely re-install vista and start from a fresh version.
However, i have tried this time and it says that it cannot boot from cd - code 1.
Can someone tell me what this is and how to re-install vista?

Hmm... so its definitely not a ODD issue but there is something wrong with the shipped CDs. From my knowledge this error would appear if the CD would NOT be bootable!
Its strange for me that this notebook has been preinstalled with the Vista business.
Usually the notebooks are preinstalled with Vista Home Premium and usually you have to create the own Recovery disk using the preinstalled tool called Toshiba recovery Disk Creator.
Anyway, if you are not able to boot from these disks then you would need other disks.
You could order it from the ASP in your country or from this page:

  • Equium L40 - cannot boot from Recovery CD

    Hi, can anyone help?
I want to use the Recovery cd, but when i press f12 on startup and cd drive from menu nothing happens.
After a short while the laptop starts as normal. Its an equium L40.
    Please help

Did you try to change the boot order in the BIOS to CD/DVD firstly and then to boot from the CD?
There is also another possibility for booting from the ODD.
You can press the C button immediately after notebook was switched on. This would enable the booting from the ODD drive.
    But Ive got some questions;
Did you try to boot from different bootable CDs like Win XP, Linux, etc.? Is it possible?
    Possibly the drive malfunctions?
I think this could the main reason why the notebook misses the CD.
    What do you think?

  • Thinkpad T430 Cannot Boot from Recovery disk

    Dear Community,
I recently purchased a Thinkpad T430 with Windows7 Pro edition preinstalled.  I want to replace the installed SSD drive with a larger SSD drive (samsung 840 pro).  I have no files on the laptop yet.  After careful reading of several posts and the Thinkpad manual, I created a recovery medium (boot and data) using the Lenovo installed tools onto a 16GB USB flash drive.  I then removed the lenovo SSD drive and replaced it with the Samsung SSD drive.  I connected the flashdrive to the USB port and attempted to boot from this flash drive.  In the boot menu, both the Samsung drive and the USB drive show up, but if I select the USB drive nothing happens (the boot menu reloads).  After reading more posts, I went into the BIOS menu and tried some suggested changes but nothing seems to work.
I am an ordinary user, I am not an IT professional and embarked on this adventure thinking it should be straightforward enough.
    Can someone help me please?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello and welcome,
Was the flash drive properly prepared before creating the recovery image?
New or used USB memory keys or USB flash drives require an active partition created from within Wind...
Sometimes a non-booting flash drive can be fixed by setting the partition active.   Use the instructions in the above link but don't clean, create, or format - or do anything that might corrupt the data.  Just select and set active.
If there's something else wrong with the drive prep (wrong format, for example), you may be able to get it working by doing the prep on a 2nd USB drive and copying the contents of the first drive.
You only get to make the recovery media once so if neither of these work you'll need to call support and request DVDs.  In a case like this where the recovery drive creation has failed they may or may not charge for the media.

  • Cannot boot from installed disk on Intel Xserve

    I have an Intel Xserve.
I have had it for some months,it has been working fine, it is a standby backup machine to others and is used as a testbed.
I have just installed from the supplied DVD 10.4.8.
The installation goes smoothly, however after the first reboot. The system is trying to install from dvd again.
I have tried installing a known working Intel boot disk, and this just gives a folder with the flashing question mark.
I have tried formatting the disk and partitioning making sure to use GUID partition and it doesn't boot.
I can however boot from a external FW drive with 10.4.10 installed.
I can then go into Startup disk and set the boot disk as on of the installed drives, but this has No effect.
I am currently trying to Clone from the FW drive to an installed drive.
    Has anyone seen this behaviour?
Can someone tell me what I can try to resolve this.
All I have read regarding Flashing Question Marks is to ensure disks are using GUID partion and when booting from another disk to set the boot disk in the System Prefences.

    Welcome to the forum!
You're missing the first disk which is "Rescue and Recovery", followed by CDs 1-7.
Make sure to re-align the partitions before or after OS installation in order to get the proper utilization of that SSD.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot boot from Recovery CD - Error: PXE-E61: Media test failure

Recovery CD ( winXP home edtion ) can't boot the Toshiba satellite A40 Model# PSA40E-0EWDE-AR (SA40-261) Whenever I try to Boot From recovery cd I get this Error :
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
but when I boot from any other cd (windows ME, WIN 2K, WIN XP Pro...) everything is ok.
    Any Clue? Help me please
    Thanks
    Mesha

    Hi
It seems the drive cannot boot up from the CD recovery and switch to the LAN boot.
The PXE-E61 error message appears because the LAN cable was not connected and the notebook is not able to find a network boot source
I think you should check the recovery CD and maybe you will need a new one

  • Cannot boot from recovery, yet hardware diagnostics finds no problem

    Hello,
I have a mid-2011 MacBook Air 11" which is running Mountain Lion, with most recent updates.  No new software recently installed, and I was running Pages and a few other standards apps, when....
suddenly, computer started just going black and restarting, then would work for 10-30 seconds, then go black and restart.
It has been like this for two days, and now almost never even gets to the login screen.  Usually, it just goes black after the Apple icon and starts over, sometimes the cursor appears in the upper left on that screen as well (which seems bizarre).  Sometimes it will load the linen background, with the cursor in the upper left hand corner, but then be totally frozen.
    Here's what I've tried:
-Ran the apple hardware diagnostics by holding "D" on startup.  Both normal test and extensive test revealed no problems.
-Tried command-R and command-option-R revcoveries from boot up, nothing ever happens
-Tried safe boot, nothing ever happens
-Tried PRAM reset and SMR reset (the power one, I may have the name wrong)
-Tried booting up from the Recovery disk, no sucess
-Tried booting up from a USB recovery disk, which I made on my iMac
The last shot actually once got me to the disk utility. I was able to run to "reapair disk" to my main HD with no problems found.  I than was in the process of running "repair disk permissions" when it went black again.  I have not been able to get back to this point, however.
I am BROKE, out of warranty, and would really love any idea anyone may have for a clean wipe/install.
    Thanks for your help!

    So here's an update:
Still constantly shutting down, but some new interesting things:
    1. If the run the Apple server hardware dianostics (through holding 'D'), it is the only thing I've tried where it doesn't randomly shut down.  I've had this open for 1+ hour, and no shut down.  This makes me think it's not hardware related, but I'm just guessing
    2. I installed a fresh copy of ML on an external HD, trying the directions in the above article.  It did not show up in the options of bootable drives when I held down 'option' on boot up.
    3. I then came across this: http://www.macworld.com/article/1167857/how_to_make_a_bootable_mountain_lion_ins tall_drive.html
Using this method, the external HD did show up as recovery disk, which I was able to boot up.  I got through the first several screens of a fresh ML install when it froze this time, right after the long progress bar.  This is the futherest I got through any method.   I have, sadly, not been able to get back to that point since the first try, though.
    4. I have been able to get the globe from an internet recovery off of the internal partition recovery drive, but after the progress bar and the spinning globe, I just get the linen background, with the cursor stuck in the upper left hand corner, and no dialog box to top bar.
    5. It seems like I can get further after I've given it a break.  With that in mind, I gave it several hours rest, then was able to log all the way in for about 15 secs.  I managed to take this bad photo just before it went black again (sorry I missed so much of the crash report):
Sorry for the bad photo, it's all I had time for.  The last time I saw one of these, the BSD process name was a file related to Magician, a monitoring program.  This time it looks to be related to Sophos.  This being different makes me then think that it isn't third party software causing the problem, but instead Apple's kernal.  Once again, this is just a guess.
    Ideas?

  • Satellite L850-161 won't boot from recovery disk

When I got the laptop in 2012 I created 4 recovery disks but since then i've had my HDD replaced in my SATELLITE L850-161 but it has the recovery partition with nothing in it and the laptop won't boot from disk either so I can't format it but really need to, any suggestions??

If you have 4 recovery discs be sure you start installation with disc number 1. After HDD exchange you should be able to use created recovery discs for recovery image installation.
Does some other bootable disc starts properly?
To be honest I dont understand how new HDDD can contain recovery partition that will be created if recovery image installation works.
Problem is that in such situation you dont have many options. In worst case you can order original recovery disc for your machine.

  • Satellite A200 won't boot from recovery disk

I need to reinstall the notebook but every time I boot from CD it won't.
I tried every boot disk ( xp pro, xp home, Toshiba recovery disk ) at house but none of it works.
The recovery disk boots (windows is loading) but after loading my laptop restarts.

    > Try to run Recocery CD under Windows and then choose reinstall option from cd menu
Something like that is not possible using the Toshiba Recovery disk
    > tried every boot disk ( xp pro, xp home, Toshiba recovery disk ) at house but none of it works.
In my opinion your CD/DVD drive can not read the inserted medias and therefore its not possible to restore the operating system.
I think the CD/DVD drive should be checked by an notebook technician and if necessary it should be replaced.

  • Laptop won't boot from recovery disk, can't find recovery partition

My sister asked to again "fix" her Toshiba laptop because it was full of viruses. The last time, I had to reformat it in order to completely remove all the junk toolbars, etc. I saw all the junk programs again and decided it would be quicker and easier to reformat it again (I backed it up first) but something went wrong. It will not reinstall the OS. It will not boot from the system repair disk. I have set up and reformatted multiple computers and I have never ever had this issue occur. Startup repair runs for a while, says it can't automatically fix the laptop, lists "No OS installed" among errors. I've tried going into the BIOS and making various changes. The recovery partition seems to be gone and the repair disk is of no use. Does anyone have any suggestions? Because I'm looking at buying a new hard drive. I think it got corrupted by a virus or me doing something wrong, even though I did everything I did the last time.

Hi! In your situation, I recommend ordering the recovery media from Toshiba. I'm thinking that your OS has been corrupted by a Virus and you no longer have the hidden recovery partition. I have replied on the other message also. If you have further questions, I will try to answer them as best I can. You can get the Toshiba recovery media here. Scroll down to the bottom to find recovery media.

  • Satellite A10-131 does not boot from Recovery or any other disk

I have a client who has a A10-131. I have had to reload the OS, but the new DVD-Writer will not boot the recovery CD or any other original Windows CD for that matter. Is anyone able to help with this problem. I need to find out what solution is possible with such a problem.
    Thank You.

How did you try to boot from the drive???
Did you change the boot order in the BIOS???
Usually several boot possibilities are available.
    1. You can press the C button immediately after notebook powering to detect the CD/DVD drive booting
    2. you can use the F12 button to get the booting menu
    3. you will change the boot order in BIOS to ODD firstly
But its interesting to know if your new ODD is compatible with the notebook

  • Installation good, but now cannot boot from install disk

Hi I installed leopard via upgrade and install all is working well apart from the occasional sound issue.
however when i try to boot from the leopard install disk I get a kernel panic saying that the computer is not recognized. If i boot from my original disk that came with my computer and run disk utility i get file errors. Should I repair these or will it ruin the leopard file system. And is the leopard install disk only suitable for intel macs.
    ray

It sounds like the lens on your optical drive is dirty if you're not getting to the installation menu. Use a cleaning DVD or wrap a microfiber cloth around a credit card and carefully slide it in and out a few times.

  • Cannot boot from startup disk.

I have an iMac (intel) that I just archived and reinstalled leopard on. After the reinstall the computer will only boot to the sign in screen but it rejects my password, which has been the same since I bought the computer. I have tried holding "c" while booting up, holding the power button until it beeps, resetting the PRAM, all of this results in the sign in screen where my password will still not work.

For anyone still keeping up here I have finally figured it out. After some research and help from friends I found that another way to access the drive selection screen is to hold the menu button on the apple remote. By doing this I was able to boot from the start-up disk and reinstall the OS again. It acted as if the OS was not installed at all so I am guessing that there must have been a problem with the last install that I had attempted and did not show up during the install as the computer started to the login screen as it should after an archive. Thanks for your help in trying to solve the problem. Pass this on.

  • Cannot Boot From Internal Disk After Failed Firmware Update

    Xserve 1,1 (Late 2006)
After a failed firmware update the server will not boot from an internal volume.
I have tried the firmware restoration CD 1.4 without success due to the following:
I press the sleep LED but only get the initial three fast blinks, not the next slower three blinks, and the last three fast blinks.
I can boot in Target Mode, NetBoot, from an installation CD. The volume with the OS (10.5) is recognized by another machine, but the server will not boot from it.
I have tried reinstalling the OS on another drive, and repairing the drive.
    I would appreciate any suggestions.

I read somewhere that it might have to do with the fact that it says "S.M.A.R.T. not supported" on DU. Is there any way to fix this? does it mean I'll need a new drive soon?
I think something else is afoot. I believe that, when you boot from the the system/install and run DU from there, DU does not recognize SMART reporting.
Before I recently updated my MBP to 10.5.7, I ran DU from the DVD to verify the disk before applying the update (I'm cautious about those updates). It gave the same report you are seeing. Once I was booted from the hard drive, the SMART status report returned to normal. SMART will typically report "failing, not "not supported" if the drive is going bad.

  • Cannot boot from AHT disk

Anyone experience this: as I was investigating a USB problem, I found I could no longer boot from the AHT disk (Apple Harware Test), which came with my original 10.2 set. I'm up to 10.3.9, and have only added RAM and replaced the Combo for a SuperDrive. I suspected the latter was the culprit, but OWC support claims that PatchBurn should make the new drive work as native (I also believe I ran the disk after installing the new drive). I can't think of any other changes that would cause this.
Both OSX and OS9 override when booting from the C or option key, and, when selecting from the Start Up Disk Preference pane, I get a brief question mark folder then default to OS.
Since the OS on the AHT is 9.1 I wonder if that's the issue.
Curious if anyone else with this vintage machine has experience this.
    Thanks in advance.

HI, David. I have four guesses (and that's all they
are) about why your AHT disk won't boot your
    Powerbook:
    1. The AHT disc is dirty, scratched, or otherwise
damaged, or the Superdrive is dirty.
This was one of my guesses, so I made a copy of the AHT. Same results.
    2. Your Superdrive isn't bootable. Are you able to
start up from any other bootable CD or DVD, such as
your original Mac OS 10.2 installer disc or your
Panther Disc 1? If not, the drive is highly suspect.
Some drives will work fine for other purposes (with
or without the aid of Patchburn) but are not
    bootable.
I have been able to boot from 10.3 disk.
    3. The Superdrive, which is not the drive the AHT
disc expects to detect during the startup process, is
preventing startup because the AHT disk contains no
driver for it and does not have access to Patchburn.
Or it's preventing AHT from running, because AHT
can't test that drive properly or because it thinks
it's being run on the wrong Mac.
This is my suspicion but I've been assured by the OWC folks that this is not the case. Any way to pull the Superdrive driver into the AHT?
    4. If you have updated the firmware on your Tibook
since it was new, the AHT disk may not recognize the
current firmware and, as in #3 above, may think it's
being used in the wrong Mac model.
I've only done the usual updates from Apple, so I can't imagine that would be the case.
The fact that the AHT disk contains OS 9.1 is not the
    issue, I'm sure.
Thanks for the feedback, and I'm not sure how useful this tool is anymore..
