Equium L350D - DVD/CD drive isn't recognised

Hi,
Having a real problem with the internal DVD/CD drive in my Equium.
Whatever DVD software I try to use my DVD drive isn't recognised. I've tried using the following : Toshiba installed, Windows Media Player, iTunes.
This is the error message :
The specific drive cannot be located. Check the setting by going to Settings->Action settings->Source, or otherwise check that the drive has been properly connect to the PC.
Hope someone can help !!

Hi mate
First of all you should check the device manager.
The CD/DVD drive should be listed there
If there is yellow exclamation mark near the ODD in device manager, then you should delete it from the device list.
Then you should access registry (type regedit) and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
After that reboot the unit and wait until Windows would recognize the ODD again
If this would not help, then I would recommend removing the tools like itunes and other burning applications from the system
I read in many forums that iTunes etc could affect the CD/DVD drive functionality

hello. can anybody help with the following ;-
My DVD drive isn't recognised on my comp and in hardware properties it states that my CDW/DVD driver has possibly become corrupted and needs re-installing or 'updating'.
the drive(r) is shown as TSST Corp TS-L462A - can i get the updated
driver download from this site? (is it free?)
    thanks for any assistance

    Hi Paul,
You don't say what model of notebook you have, but generally speaking if you are using Windows XP then you will be using the standard Microsoft drivers for your optical drive.
However, you can download any of the Toshiba drivers and utilities from the Toshiba web-site by clicking on the Support and Downloads section and selecting Download Files. You will need to complete the details of your notebook so that the correct driver list will be displayed (unless you supplied these details when you registered).
    regards,

  • Equium A100: DVD/CD drive has stopped working code 22

Toshiba Equium A100 on Vista operating.
DVD/CD drive has stopped working and is showing as disabled. Have tried to re-enable but error code 22 returned. Can anyone help?

    Hi
The Microsoft page provides these details about error code 22
*This device is disabled. (Code 22)*
    _Recommended resolution_
+Enable the device by using Device Manager.+
+In Device Manager, click Action, and then click Enable Device. This starts the Enable Device wizard. Follow the instructions.+
It looks like you have already tired this. Well, in your case I would recommend removing the CD/DVD drive from the device list in the device manager. Just simply mark the device an press delete.
Then restart the notebook and check what happens.

  • WD Passport drive isn't recognised

I recently bought a WD 2.5" 160GB Passport Drive for my 15" Alu powerbook, and am running OS 10.4.9. My mac won't recognise the external drive on a USB connection. the drive should be powered via the USB port, but I think there isn't enough power from the one port.
I've seen other posts which suggest I need a 2 port USB power cable, but can't seem to find anywhere in the UK that stocks em.
    Any ideas???
The drive will work on a PC, so I know it's working ok.
    powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Using Firewire is more dependable with no port power issues, plus you can boot from an external Firewire drive, which you can't do from a USB drive.
Thanks firewire sounds like an option - I'm trying to find out if my passport drive will accept firewire, it doesn't have a port for an external power source.....and.... still no luck with a 2USB cable long enough to fit onto both powerbook USB ports simultaneously.

  • Satellite A100-773: DVD/CD drive does not recognise CDs

    Hello Friends,
    I have Sattelite A100-773.
When I turned it on today it did not recognise any CDs anymore. It however recognises DVDs and also can Burn CDs with Nero.
As soon as I put in a CD it says (in German) something like "Access denied, Function not allowed".
It is a mystery to me what has happened. Until yesterday it was perfect. Now the same CDs (and I have tried 20) wouldn' work anymore.
I have tried system recovery to a previous point in time, but it does not help. In the Hardware manager tells me that everything is allright.
Do you have any idea what it can be?
    Thanks a lot
    Ognian

    Hi
In such case its not easy to say why it happens.
Generally if the drive is not able to read any medias either the hardware malfunctions or the CD or DVD is not compatible and supported.
But let us hope that the hardware is not corrupted.
Try to remove the drive from the device manager and reboot the notebook.
After the reboot the OS should recognise the drive again and should load the driver. Then you could try to test the drive again.
I found also a very great Microsoft document about:
How to troubleshoot issues that occur when you write data to a CD-R or CD-RW optical disc in Windows XP
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324129
    and this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315350/
The other possibility is to use the Recovery CD to reinstall the OS.

  • New 320GB Hard Drive isn't recognised.

I have a Compaq V6560 which came with a 80GB hard drive (Sata) & I bought a new 320 GB but when trying to re-install Windows 7 it won't recognise drive. Bios is useless as there's no 'advanced' option. The motherboard is a Quanta 30cc & bios is up-to-date I'm sure (F.59) so not sure what the problem is. If there's a capacity problem (i.e. this pc will only allow 250GB) is there a way around it as it seems a bit silly. Thanks.

There could be a couple of differnt things going on.
The 320 GB exceeds the limit imposed by HP. On the dv9000 series HP has imposed a limit, based on CPU manufacturer for the second bay (100GB for Intel & 160 GB for AMD) this is according to an HP chat responder's supervisor.
Your model may be using a SATA I controller that does not detect a SATA II drive (assuming your 320 is SATA II).
You can read more on the Western Digital site here and a related article here These are from the WD knowledge base
    Good Luck

  • Newly Re-formatted iMac Hard drive isn't recognised by my LG Blue ray player

    PLease Help!!!
I've recently re-formatted my Seagate Go Flex 500 to my new iMac.I Saved all my movies to the iMac then re-installed them back on to my external hardrive. Now when I plug my hardrive into my LG blueray player via the usb port, it does'nt recognise it and I cannot now play my movie collection.I had no problems before with my old Windows XP pc.How can I overcome this problem? Can someone please help?

Check your BlueRay player's manual, because it sounds like it can only read drives that are formatted MS-DOS FAT-32 or something along those lines.
I'm not exactly sure because I don't have a BlueRay player, however it sounds like you have a couple of options:
    1. Copy the movies back to the iMac, reformat the drive back to MS-DOS FAT-32 or whatever it was and then copy the movies back to it.
    2. Use two External Hard Drives, one formatted to backup your iMac and then a second formatted MS-DOS FAT-32 or whatever it was for the player.

  • My USB Flash Drive isn't recognised?

Today, when using my Macbook with Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11), suddenly it did not recognize my Verbatim 4GB USB flash drive. What's strange is that when I plug it in, the light on the flash drive blinks as if the computer has connected to it, but it doesn't show up either on the desktop or in Finder. I have tried both USB ports on the side of my Macbook.
I have tried shutting down my computer and restarting, but nothing has happened. I also know that the flash drive works properly because I plugged it in to my PC and it was recognized. Another thing is, that my Macbook does recognize both my Memorex and Scandisk flash drives perfectly normal. Up until today, there have been no problems with this device. Can anyone help me on this topic? Thanks.

    A few things to check:
    - If you launch Disk Utility does the flash drive show up there as a volume? I once had my iPod do the exact same thing as your flash drive and when I opened Disk Utility it mounted the iPod volume within seconds.
    - If you go into System Profiler does it show the drive being seen through the device tree under USB? The fact that it appears to be drawing bus power is definitely a good indicator.

  • DVD drive isn't working. Can't install Snow Leopard.

My DVD drive isn't working properly. Is there another way for me to install Snow Leopard? I didn't see a digital download of this software in the Apple Store.

Another computer or an ext CD/DVD player are your only options.

  • My cd/dvd drive isn't working and i want to upgrade my mac os x10.5.8, how can i upgrade without the software CD

my cd/dvd drive isn't working and i want to upgrade my mac os x10.5.8, how can i upgrade without the software CD

I think not.   You will need to order a disc from Apple quoting your serial number, as many of these discs are machine specific.   So unless you can get your drive working I think you will have to take a trip to an Apple store.
Indeed, you have an old computer that may not be worth the cost of repair ... but it is still worth seeking Apple advice and a visual inspection.   It just might be something not too drastic.

  • My DVD drive isn't working and I want to download elements pc 6 with my serial number, how can I do that?

I have the disc for Ps elements 6 for windows, but my DVD drive isn't working. How can I download with my serial number?

I'm afraid there is no place to download photoshop elements 6, that i know of anyway.
(unless you had bought it from adobe as an download, then you could possibly log in to your account and download pse 6)
What operating system are you using?
Do you have another computer with a working dvd drive or do you have a flash drive, camera card.
USB dvd drives are dirt cheap, so if you live near a computer store, that might be an option or if you have a friend that has one you can borrow.

  • IPad 1 isn't recognise as an external hard-drive.

I have a bunch of folders on my iPad 1 that I want to add to my computer and back up. When I go to my 'Computer' file it isn't recognising my iPad as an extra/external hard-drive. The problem I'm having is that it IS being recognised in my iTunes and the camera software always reads.
    - I have tried different computers and USB ports
    - I have tried different USB cables
    - I have tried restarting both my computer and iPad
    - I have tried configuring
    - Apple Mobile Device Support is installed correctly
    - I've have no third party conflicts
    Yet still nothing.
The operating system I'm using is iOS 5.1.1 as it will not let me update to the new versions anymore.
Please help any ideas welcome esp if they don't include buying a new devise.

You cannot mount the iPad like an external drive. It's not meant to work that way - at least out of the box anyway. There are some third party apps that let you do what you want to do.
This is app will do that and it works in iOS 5.
File Manager - Folder Plus on the App Store on iTunes
However, depending on what is in these folders, you can use apps like DropBox, Or use iCloud, you can email files and you can use iOS file sharing to move files back and forth from iPad to computer

  • Satellite P30-145: drive will not recognise dual layer DVDs

I have a Satellite P30-145 with a DVD SupermultiDL drive. When I first got the PC I could write dual layer DVDs without any problems. Now the drive will not recognise dual layer DVDs at all. Even ones from the same box that worked fine previously. I'm using Verbatim Double Layer DVD+R 2.4x discs.
After much searching on the internet I downloaded and ran DVDInfoPro. This application reported that the drive did not support DVD+RW DL. Very strange!!
Can anyone help? The drive is a Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-831S.

    Hi Lan
This drive is definitely DL one but I can just imagine that drive is defective and can not calibrate lens in the right position. This notebook model is more that two years old and if you have used this drive intensively I can really imagine that DL function is defective.
What you can do is to clean the lens and see it this will help.
