Equium L40-10x PSL41E: No media card slot

Hi
this maybe a daft question but then again; I'm a daft lad do all Equium have media card slots as our looking at the manual doesn't have one where it should be ours is L40-10x model psl41e.
thanks

You are right. Not all L40 notebooks are equipped with the media card slot due to different motherboard layouts!

  • Question about graphics cards for Equium L40 - 10X

Hi - new to this but really hacked off so hopefully someone can help me.!
I bought a Equium L40 - 10X in August and thought it was good for what I wanted, especially after seeking advice and speaking to 'an expert' at my local pcworld.
However, I think the graphics card is not good enough to support the games I have got - Medal of Honour Warchest, Hitman Triple Pack and Call of Duty 2. They all sem to recommend a nVidia graphics card as a minimum requirement. The card in the laptop is an Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family (I think) and the OS is Vista Home Premium.
Problems I am experiencing include loss of graphics and stuttering during play.
Can I upgrade to an nVidia graphics card or is the one I have got sufficient but I just need to change some settings?
Haven't got a clue really, so help would be much appreciated!

    > I bought a Equium L40 - 10X in August and thought it was good for what I wanted, especially after seeking advice and speaking to 'an expert' at my local pcworld.
Either you was not clear enough or the expert from pcworld have provided the wrong information and wrong advice.
Fact is that the Intel shared GPU was not really designed to play the newest games.
The shared graphic card is simply not powerful enough to run such games smoothly!
    > Can I upgrade to an nVidia graphics card or is the one I have got sufficient but I just need to change some settings?
NO, this is not possible because the notebooks graphic cards are fixed on the board and cannot be removed.

  • Equium L40-10X - Can't install Windows

    Hi all,
First actual post but been around on and off for a while. I hope somebody here can help!
I have a Toshiba Equium L40-10x laptop with a strange problem. It came to me second user with the problem already so I don't know any history other than what I have tried. When you boot the machine it comes up with a TRAP 00000006 exception error and stops. The hard drive has been low level formatted, formatted and partitioned and has nothing on it. The memory has been replaced and confirmed working. When you try and use the recovery cd (F12 on startup) it goes to the select boot option menu, I select CD player and it makes a few noises and then the error appears. I have also tried a WIN XP and WIN Vista CD with the same effect.
Googling the problem seems to suggest NTLDR problems or memory but drive has nothing on it and memory has been tested and confirmed fine.
Other possibilities are CD drive or BIOS. Bios version is at 2.10 and I know that BIOS available is 2.30 but unable at the moment to work out a way to upgrade the bios. I do have a USB Floppy drive available.
So, thats the problem, any thoughts?
    Thanks

Have you access to the HDD using floppy start disc?
Connect the HDD to other notebook, create two partitions, copy I368 folder on second partition. With floppy disc try to access this folder and start WXP installation using winnt32.exe.
Check advanced search option on this forum and you will find many threads with good description how to do this.
Play a little bit with it. ;)
Is the optical disc drive working properly?

  • Equium L40-10X - Wireless vanished?

I have an Equium L40-10X. It comes with wireless built in and I have been using for over a year without any problems. I has now vanished from my laptop! The wireless LED indicator won't come on and it's no longer listed in my Network Adaptors. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also worth noting that I'm no expert so idiot proof advice would be great.

Vanished from one day to the other? Indeed, really strange.
Ok, let's see. Have you tried to install wlan drivers again?
You can find them on Toshiba download page: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com (Support & Downloads)
Just in case, check if hardware switch is turned off or if deactivated via FN+F8 key combination.

  • Upgrade RAM for Equium L40-10X

I want to upgrade the RAM in my Equium L40-10X from 1GB to at least 2GB - I read that's the highest it can be upgraded to??
I want to know what RAM it takes though so I know what I'm looking for to buy!!
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks,
    Jake

I cant find that exact model, is it a UK model?
The other L40's are 2GB max.
You need to use RAM that has the same specs as the original RAM, which is DDR2 667MHz (PC5300) SODIMM
Buy quality brand-name RAM with similar CAS/RAS timings. Cheap RAM can corrupt your data and cause BSOD's or instability.
You can view the CAS/RAS memory timings in CPUID (google is your friend)

  • Dont have reboot disc for Equium L40-10x. Can I reboot it anyway?

At start it up it states that windows cant boot because of error it states to reboot using disc but dont have disc.
Can anyone help because Toshiba support seems to never heard of Equium L40-10x model!

    Hi
I dont think that Equium L40 was equipped with an HDD recovery option
Nevertheless, you can check the link posted by Barrie
I think the notebook was not delivered with an recovery CD because there was an option which allows you to create an own recovery disk.
I think you have ignored this option and therefore you dont have the recovery disk ready for recovery process
You could use an clean Win XP or other Windows OS in order to reinstall the OS in this unit
    Greats

    Akeva62, welcome to the forum.
The front cover, just below the red line in the photo, that has the HP logo should slide down.  Once it is down it should reveal the card reader.  I know that is the way my HP Envy Phoenix works.

  • Equium L40 10X Blinking green power LED

    Hi Guys,
I have an old Equium L40 that I haven't used it in a while.
Now when I plug the power adapter in the power led just blinks green constantly.
I've checked the blink codes but I can't find one for mine. It simply turns green for a second and then off.
Then green for a second then off and does this constantly.
I've tried removing the battery for a few minutes and then holding the power button down for a minute, but I just get the same result. The power adapter is a the one that came with the laptop and as far as I can tell works fine.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks guys!

    Hi
Power Indikator (DC IN) indicates the power status with the AC adaptor connected.
The green (not blinking) means power is being supplied and the computer is turned on.
The power indicator on the front of the computer will glow green when the computer is switched on.
The blinking amber indicates power is being supplied to the computer while the notebook is in sleep mode.
Unfortunately, the DC IN green blinking status looks like a hardware problem.
Probably the power supplied to notebook is abnormal or there are some problems with power supply electronic on the motherboard.
By the way: please check the RAM modules. Remove one and test the unit using only one module in each slot. Check both modules.
Some years ago, a friend of mine has had some problems with the notebook. The blinking LED indicated the RAM issue

  • Equium L40-10X: Need details about memory

I am thinking of upgrading the RAM memory on the above, but can't find the model or specification on the UK website (other members of the Equium family range are on the "Laptops" section of the webpage, but my model frustratingly is not!) -
I am particularly interested as I want to get the correct type of memory (original or generic) - can users help me on this?.
My main reason for increasing the RAM memory is that the laptop seems disappointingly slow with the standard 1GB ram which i belive is fitted as 2 x 512mb -
If any users have any other tips for speeding the laptop up, please let me know.
Incidentally, powering up takes about 50-60 seconds and shutdwon 40-50 seconds, is this normal.
The laptop is currently as per facory fit specification.

The ram required is pc2 5300 200pin sodimm.
    You can purchase this from dabs.com for appx £30 for the 2gb kit ( 2 x 1gb modules) .
I also did this and it makes the equium L40 run better. This along with vista sp1 and the atheros wifi driver version 7.6.0.70 from this site made my notebook a much better pc.
You can use the crucial memory selector on the dabs site to go exactly to this ram then place your order.
    Good luck.

  • When did imac ship with media card slot?

it's pretty stupid that i just noticed but my imac doesn't have sd card slot. i wouldn't even have noticed but read something today that apple started shipping in september. is this true? recommendations for good quality external reader? i purchased the imac in december of 2009.
Message was edited by: Robert Wilkins2

The SD readers are built in when the iMacs were updated with 21.5" or 27" displays.
As for a card reader, there pretty simple devices, I bought a cheap USB one off eBay for about £1, it works fine. Quite compact as it's not a box but looks similar to a chunky USB memory stick which you slide your SD card into the end of.

  • Media Card Slot

    HP HDX 18t-1000
I just tried to use my multimedia card slot, with a Memory Stick PRO Duo card. Whoever designed this thing, what were they thinking?
Inable to insert the card far enough for the machine to read it, I had to use a paper clip. To remove it, I needed a pair of tweezers. Pushing on the card did not release it.
What exactly, please, am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

I never received a reply from HP support on this. Disappointed in that regard.
I did some research of my own, however, and it seems the slot isn't made for the pro duo. I went to my local Best Buy and bought a memory stick Duo Adaptor. I've been using it for some time and have had no problems with it.

  • Would this storage card work in the Media Card slot of my W700?

    Hi,
I'm interested in buying this Lexar 133x SDHC Card:
    http://lexarmedia.com/products/lexar-professional-133x-sdhc-card?category=213
Basicallyl, I want to use it as another storage drive (as opposed to putting in my camera or other device).  So after I insert it, I want to be able to format it and use it as another storage area.  Would this card work?
The reason I'm gravitating to that card is that is that I see in the specs that is minimum 20MB/sec read transfer rate and it does not take up one of my USB slots.
However, even if it does work, would I be better off with their Echo ZX plug-and-forget it USB drive when they ship it?:
    http://lexarmedia.com/products/lexar-echo-zx-backup-drive-0?category=90
If both work, which would be faster as a storage drive?
    Thanks.

It is a SDHC card so it should work on the card reader of the W700.
    Regards,
    Jin Li
