Equium L40-14I - Can I get a recovery disk?

Hey,
I am stuck with this laptop at the moment as when I did a virus scan about 4 weeks ago it discovered 179 virus and no end of malware threats and since that scan I can no longer boot into any area in normal Windows Vista 32 bit unless it is Safe Mode.
When my mum bought the laptop it was a display model and they did not provide a recovery disc witht the laptop. Am I able to request one or if I am not to get a disc how am I able to rectify this problem please? Also when trying to log on in normal Windows, it accepts the password then sits there happily on the "Welcome" screen and does not move any further.

I think in this case you need a recovery disk or lets say you have to reinstall Windows due these lots of viruses.
The recovery disk is not provided with this model because you have to create such a disk yourself using the preinstalled Toshiba recovery disk creator. But I think not its too late for this.
What you can try is to use the HDD recovery option. You can use it if you go in advanced boot menu (F8) and select repair my computer. On the next screen you can choose the Toshiba HDD recovery option that wipes the first partition of your notebook and you get back the factory settings. That means the preinstalled Vista from Toshiba with all drivers and tools.
After this you can try to create the recovery disk using the Toshiba recovery disk creator.
If the HDD recovery doesnt work due the viruses maybe, you can order a new one from Toshiba directly:

Yesterday I bought a toshiba Satellite P300-1CI, when I started, I must installed Vista home.
I would like to format my disk and reinstall my old Windows XP.
My question is : How can keep an image disk with Vista? I don't have an installation disk of Vista and don't know my registration key of it.

User manual is really interesting document and in most cases it answer all you questions ;)
Anyway, the Toshiba recovery disk should be created before you would format and install on the HDD.
You have to use the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator application in order to create the Recovery DVD.
Now to you other question;
The Vista image which is preinstalled and placed on the Recovery disk (after recovery disk has been created) is activated already and you dont need to insert any keys or activate anything.

Why do you dont contact the nearest authorized service provider? They should be able to order a new recovery disk for you.
Maybe they have one in stock and you directly have it if you buy a coffee or so ;)

OS 10.8.5 update failed, now can't get past recovery disk

I ran the latest OS10.8.5 update on an old iMac (circa 2009) and left the computer while it was running. When I returned there was a message saying the update could not be installed, and a prompt to restart the iMac. On restart it went straight to recovery mode. Disk Utility fixed several permission problems, which seemed to be iTunes related, but Verify/Repair Disk showed no issues with the hard drive (500Gb, with about 64Gb available). When I try to reinstall the OS I get past the Apple ID log-in prompts and the installation begins, but then it just returns to the recovery screen after a few minutes. Finally, I tried to return to the pre-update posotion via Time Machine, but an error came up saying something like "Time Machine can't access your hard drive." Each reboot just returns me to the recovery disk. I'd be grateful for any suggestions as this is looking rather scary. Thanks

The boot drive is failing, or you have some other hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

You can get a new recovery disk from an authorized service provider. On the Toshiba website you can search for the nearest so please check this!!!
Alternative you install Windows from a Microsoft disk and then you can download all drivers on the Toshiba page. Then you have factory settings back too but its more complicated as the Toshiba disk.

Satellite P200-144 - Where can I get a recovery disk?

I wanted to reformat my laptop, but I have lost the CD that comes with the laptop..
Is there anyway I can get a new one? Or any way I can reformat without the CD?

You can get a new Toshiba recovery disk from Toshiba directly. Just follow the instrucions on the website:

If your notebook was delivered with Windows Vista you can use the HDD recovery feature to reinstall it. Go in the advanced menu with F8, select repair my computer and then the Toshiba recovery option. Thats all! :)
Windows will be reinstalled automatically.

my daughter bought a A300D-18 PSAHCE 00C00PGR in April 09.
She told me now, she tried to create a recovery disc at once, but it failed.
Now I'm looking for a recovery disc for her vista home premium SP2.

If you dont have a recovery disk you can order a new one from Toshiba directly:

If the preinstalled OS is still installed you can try again to create the recovery disk. I can recommend DVD-R mediums, this worked for me.

I had my laptop formatted about two weeks ago, unfortunately they did it in Spanish (I'm living in Mexico at the moment).
I've been looking for the recovery disk to restore my laptop to the way it was when I bought it. I lost mine and I'm in real need of this/these disk(s). Does anyone know where I can buy them? Or can anyone give any other suggestion?

Where can i get driver recovery disk for hp 15-d000sia notebook pc.

I bought this pc last two weeks and i have many problems with the drivers and software. I tried downloadig them from hp support assistance but seems that they are not compatible. Your assistance will be highly appreciated.

That depends on the operating system you have installed and the CPU\chipset your notebook has. To install the proper drivers, you will have to identify the devices that the notebook has on your own.. I certainly can't do that from afar. That is the downside of buying a notebook without an operating system. You will have to do the legwork, but we will try to guide you.

Equium L40-14I does not power up if its cold

When I push the power button down when the machine is cold, the green power lights come on for about 2 seconds and then go off. If I give the laptop a bit of gentle heat for a about 30 seconds the laptop starts first time and runs perfectly until the machine is turned off. The laptop is Equium L40-14I

I did put another tested lead into the laptop and it still does the same thing.
I bought this as reconditioned a couple of years or so ago for my wife to use and practice on. Its had a couple of problems along the way. I changed the hard drive and the shop that sold it to me got the keyboard working again (well after the 3 months warranty had run out). One day it was working ok the next it developed this weird ritual.
I am not a technician but I have had this thing to bits and put it back to again with the help of the videos on YouTube, so I will have ago if a possible solution to the fault is found.

I can't get to recovery on mac pro 2008

I'm trying to clone my info from my main Mac Pro HD to a new SSD drive but I can't get to recovery mode and Drive Genus won't let me select the main drive as a source. So: how do I get to "recovery mode" with a non mac GPU or is there any other way to do this???? I have a 760 gpu.

Clone your system, keep two such, one as WORKING backup you can boot from and use if needed, a 2nd would be best if it were a small clean Apple only plus essential drivers and utility programs for emergency maintenance and such tasks but nothing else.
The system only really takes about 30GB if that, a small emergency system then could be 20GB if you want and easy to find space.
But, you need 10.6.8+ to get Apple security updat es and such, and to get access to the AppStore, support for iTunes and more.

I am trying to install Lion on my imac and it says it can't make a recovery disk

I am trying to install lion and receive a message saying it can't make a recovery disk. I am using a 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. I do have bootcamp on it, but was never able to install Windows.

What happens when Lion installs is it creates a Lion Recovery Partition at the very bottom area of the drive, this is used to Command R boot into and perform Disk Utility Repairs and reinstall Lion from Apple's servers much like a 10.6 disk will.
So when you ran the Lion installer, it couldn't create this small partiiton, either because the GUID partition table (the map of your paartitions on the drive) is borked or there is data all the way to the bottom of the drive or OS X thinks there is.
You set up the bootcamp parittion, so run that and delete the Bootcamp partition as your not using it or Windows, once it's finished reboot and try installing Lion again.
I should warn you, Lion will not run your Rosetta based software or hardware drivers for external hardware, you may have to purchase all new versions. Not only that, hardware drivers may not be available for 10.7 thus rendering your third party printers, scanners etc useless.
Before you install Lion, you should consult this web page

Also you shoudl check your hardware and the makers site if there is a 10.7 compatible driver/software for them.
And once you think your ready to go to Lion, get a blank external powered drive and a free/donationware copy of Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your present (non-Filevault) 10.6 boot drive to the external drive.
Later if 10.7 doesn't work for you, simply hold the option key and boot off the 10.6 clone, use Disk Utility to Erase the entire drive (the whole drive!) and reverse clone 10.6 back onto the internal drive.

HT4848 How do I get the Recovery Disk Assistant?

Reading 'OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery Disk Assistant' at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848?viewlocale=en_US . My 1 day old macbook pro would not let me or root login (after resizing the os partition with diskutil to install fedora linux) and I need to restore the OS. Now this paper and support engineer tells me to recover the OS I need a working OS to prepare the recovery USB disk. Isn't this a catch 22 situation? Why wouldn't Apple sent a $1 CD with the $2400 macbook? To save $1? I had OSX 10.6 from my mini and tried to boot from that - no go - the most expensive macbook MD386LL/A starts beeping in the middle of the boot and crashes.
Since apple does not have Lion 10.7 CDs anywhere on the applestore.com I will have to nicely pack it and sent it back to Amazon and get at new one so I can start with Lion Recovery Disk Assistant fist.
If only there was a notebook on the market with 1920x1200 screen...

I managed to recover the EFI partition 2 with system restore and I am running it now - I have a +1MB/s internet connection and the estimate is ~2h of download of some new software. I wonder how long this total internet recovery without the data on local disk would take - described in that link you sent? I will try this next with a spare SATA drive
This is not an improvement over a local CD image. There must be some explanation for this "enhancement". My guess it is to protect Apple from lost revenue and stop their customers form upgrading Apple computers for free.
