Equium P200D-139: number keypad & num lock don't work after recovery

I had to reload notebook after a windows update created problems.
After using supplied restore CD the number keypad and num lock no longer work.
Any ideas please

I doubt that this has something to do with the new OS installation
I mean its sounds more like a hardware issue and not like software issue
In my opinion it was a bad luck or chance that this happened immediately after the recovery procedure
But why you said that these buttons dont work?
Did you test it with different applications?
How about the BIOS update? Do you have the latest BIOS version?
Did you try to repeat the recovery procedure? Do it!
Otherwise I think that it could be a keyboard issue and possibly the keyboard must be replaced.

Cannot access Windows on my Equium P200D-139

Evening,
I have a Toshiba Equium P200D-139 laptop. I am trying to format the hard drive and every time I turn it on, it goes straight to a password box straight after showing the Toshiba logo. The box says hit F2 or F12 as normal, which I do, The password box comes up next. Its not a windows password, as windows does not load.
I think its a set up/BIOS password. Any help in bypassing this would be much appreciated. I thinking along the liones of removing the CMOS battery, Any ideas, Please bear in mind that I cannot enter the BIOS/ or set up page Many thanks NODDY.

Yes it must be BIOS password. In the whole story it is a bit strange to me that you are wondering about this.
Is this your notebook or you got it from someone?
Fact is that you will not be able to have access to preinstalled Windows or possibility to install new Windows if you don't have right BIOS password. Password removal is not information for public forum so if you need help you must contact Toshiba service in your country. They can remove it for you.
As far as I know CMOS battery removal will not help you to remove BIOS password.

Equium P200D-139 screen with horizontal lines

I have a Toshiba Equium P200D-139 laptop and the screen stopped working.
It lights up but the display consists of vertical lines, which slowly fade into a black screen.
I tried it on an external monitor and it worked fine, (so presumably cannot be a faulty graphics card/motherboard). So, I thought it was likely to be either be the inverter or the screen itself.
After trying a new inverter with no success, I bought another second hand screen.
However, the new screen has the exact same problem with the horizonal lines display.
Just occassionally, I catch a glimpse of a partial Vista screensaver for a split second but then its back to black. Im not a technophobe, so any info would be very much appreciated.
Please help, as it is driving me up the wall!

Right. I think the issue is related to the display

Well, it could be possible that the second screen is faulty too if you bought this as second hand part then it could be possible that you bought a screen which does not work properly.
What to say; its difficult to say what you should do as next. Buying a new screen and to check this again? Well, I think I would visit the next computer repair store and would ask for checking the display.

Equium P200D-139 suddenly goes to blank screen and has to be rebooted

Have a Toshiba laptop: Equium P200D-139. Just reinstalled vista (because laptop was glitchy and slow) and computer has just started going to a blank screen randomly, no error reports..nothing.
Works fine after it has been rebooted, have restored in safe mode, uninstalled updates....but have run put of ideas.
Would appreciate some help, thanks.

Hmmm. my notebooks screen was blank sometimes after wakeup from sleep mode.
But after new reboot everything was OK.
I searched a little bit in the forum and found some people who have recommended a BIOS and display driver update.
I did this and could solve my issue

Num Lock light stays on after shut down

Hi, I've just put this system together and I've noticed that the num locks occasionally stays on after I shut down the PC.
I've changed the power supply to the one below and the problem continues.
I have my keyboard plugged into the USB port nearest the the old style PS 2 Keyboard port on the rear of the PC

Portg Z30-A-108 - Num lock does not work on external keyboard

Hi,
We have a Portg Z30-A-108. We use it with external wireless keyboard and mouse. On the external keyboard is used, the num pad does not work (as if the "num lock" was off). I tried using the function key FN+F11 on the laptop but without any succes.
Does somebody had the same problem or any idea to solve it ?

You are talking about the external keyboard.
But from my knowledge the internal Portg Z30-A-108 keyboard does not contain the num pad. Possibly this is the reason why the Num Lock is turned off.
By the way: the NumLock can be enabled in the system registry.
Open Windows registry editor using the command regedit.
In the registry, go to the folders.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Control Panel\ Keyboard\
Within the keyboard folder, you should find a string value named "InitialKeyboardIndicators" with a value of 0, 1, or 2.
Here the value meaning:
0 = Num Lock is turned OFF after the logon.
1 = Disable Num Lock.
2 = Numlock is turned ON after the logon.

To enable the light on the num lock key, I recommend following this document on Some Function Keys or Keyboard Shortcuts Do Not Work Correctly with Windows 7. This resource should help provide a hotfix for your num lock key.

Num lock is not working

I posted this message a while ago and just doing a follow up. Hope somebody's out there,
My num lock function is not working properly when I press the F6 button. It's a 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4, running Tiger OS 10.4.11. When I want to use the num lock, all of the num lock keys start working like a directional button and disables hot corners, the track pad and pretty much everything else except F1-12. The only way to regain control is to force quit the program that I originally started using it in. Any thoughts. Anyone?

How about removing the keyboard ... here's how to do that: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=95132 The article title is how to replace memory but it has the instructions for removing the keyboard also. Very handy article to save!
There might be dust or lint particles there. I use a can of compressed air with the keyboard ON about once a month or mine stick too. Maybe that will help.

Great job using the Keyboard viewer to troubleshoot your issue so far. The following Knowledge Base article provides a great checklists of steps to pinpoint the issue a bit further:
One or more keys on the keyboard do not respond - Apple Support
Some keys don't work as expected
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Speech.
Click the Text to Speech tab.
If "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" is enabled, the key or key combination set to speak text cannot be used for other purposes or used to type text--click Set Key and change it to a less-commonly used key combination (try to use modifier keys such as Shift, Command, Option, and Control). Or, disable the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" option.
Click the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane in System Preferences, then click the Keyboard tab.
Make sure that Slow Keys is turned off. With Slow Keys on, you need to press a key for a longer period of time for it to be recognized.
In the Accessibilty or Universal Access pane, click the Mouse tab, and make sure Mouse Keys is turned off. With Mouse Keys enabled, you cannot use the Numeric Keypad to enter numbers--instead the keypad moves the pointer (cursor). (There is an option to enable Mouse Keys with five presses of the Option key; you may want to turn that option off to avoid accidentally enabling it.) If Mouse Keys is enabled and you are using a keyboard with no numeric keypad or Num Lock function, see Unable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X.
If the function keys on the top row of the keyboard are not working as expected, see Mac OS X: How to change the behavior of function keys.
If the issue persists, use Keyboard Viewer to help isolate the issue:
Click the Language & Text pane (Mac OS X v10.6) or International pane (Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) in System Preferences.
Click the Input Sources tab (or Input Menu tab in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
Click the Keyboard & Character Viewer "On" checkbox to select it (click the Keyboard Viewer "On" checkbox in Mac OS X 10.5.8 or earlier).
From the Input (flag) menu, choose Show Keyboard Viewer.
If the keyboard is connected and detected by OS X, the keys you type will highlight in the Keyboard Viewer window. Open TextEdit (or any text application), and try to type something using the keys that were previously not responding to see if they highlight in Keyboard Viewer.
Start from the Mac OS X Install Disc, choose Terminal from the Utilities menu and test the keys which were previously not working. If the keys work while started from the Install disc, then the keyboard itself is working correctly. Use How to troubleshoot a software issue to isolate the software issue that may be causing the keys to not respond.

Is the version of Windows 7 Ultimate you have installed 32bit or 64bit?
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers - do you see an existing entry for the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC listed here?
There is an alternative IDT Audio driver you may wish to try on the following link.

Something does look odd to me unless it's a typo in your post.
This look like what I'd expect from the NetGear Router - not form the modem. That is when You browse the router stats (http:/192.168.1.1)
I work with a modem with te folowing preverences:
Wan IP address    87.211.205.210
Lan IP address     192.168.1.1
Primery DNS server       62.58.50.5
Secondary DNS server   62.58.50.6
and a separate router Netgear WGT624v3
This is not exactly what I would expect from System Preferences/Network
the system preferences for the network are
Configure       by DHCP
IP address     192.168.1.15
Subnetmask 255.255.255.0
Router           192.168.5.1 <<<<<<<<<<< this should be 192.168.1.1??????
DNS              208.67.222.222
                     208.67.220.220
The Router address in System Preferences/Network should be the same as the LAN IP Address. In this case it's on a different network.
If this is not a type then this is a problem!
Not sure how it got to be that way.
Does it persist when resetting the modemand router?/

Some apps like mail, safari, app store, ipod don't work after upgrading to iOS 4.3. itues is up to date and have never had issues before. tried to downgrade to 4.2 but was unable to. Help!

I have the same issue, half the apps no longer work, just stays in 'updating' mode. I've tried uninstalling some but now the app store is freezing. THe ones I am able to reinstall give me error message saying I'm not logging in correctly (I am). I'm guessing some apps versions aren't compatible with the new software but a few I was able to use after the software update and now I can't

I used CCC to clone 10.6.8 then onto new drive. Everything works BUT all Mac apps.
Error: You can't open the app(s) because it is not supported on this type of Mac. (On MacBook 2011)

All good. Just drag and dropped each application and they worked until I did a restart. Then repaired permissions and everything works.
