What's the equivalent of ApJServMount in OC4J?
Example: I want to invoke demo servlet SnoopServlet using both http://www.mysite.com/servlet/SnoopServlet and http://www.mysite.com/servlets.

You have to use servlet mapping in the deployment descriptor for your web module (web.xml) e.g.
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>snoop</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/servlets</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>

    Is there any improvement or bug fixes you're waiting for ?
    I didn't test it enough (almost nothing....) to see bugs (except that you can't connect to an xe database. required is 10.2.0.4 or higher), but what I'm waiting for a R2 is a separate install for developer machine and servers.
    for servers the actual install is quite hard to achieve on some OS ( I was lucky to succeed it the first time on XP), and this has to be improved.
    but for developer machine I think we need a lightweight installation with small memory usage et something equivalent to the standalone oc4j for local testing, instead of a complete AS with weblogic administration and enterprise manager etc...

  • Running JSPs through Apache Jserv in OC4J

    hello there -
    I'm hoping someone can help me.
    I want index.jsp, our first page, to ACT like a JSP, rather than the current HTML. It seems that httpd.conf wont access OC4J, so i've attempted to access Jserv. Still, things wont work.
    If someone could please take a look at what i have so far in httpd.conf, more specifically, near the bottom where i've opened up Jserv, and let me know what i'm doing wrong, i'd greatly appreciate it!

    So, I created the dummy account which was also failing as follows:
    create user newuser identified by oracle;
    grant developer_role to newuser;This fails, but only from a Form running under OC4J, until I run:
    ALTER SYSTEM SET sec_case_sensitive_logon = FALSE scope = MEMORY;While I've made this change in our development database, I don't really want to do the same eventually in PROD. I'd rather figure out what's changed about how OC4J connects, find a rememdy there, and set this back to TRUE.
    Since I didn't create the username or password as a string literal (to ensure lowercasing), I'm confused as to what's happening. When the init parm is set to TRUE, when the dialog box pops up for the form after the invalid username/password error, I tried entering the password in all lowercase, and then in all uppercase, to no effect. Both fail.

    Microsoft webservices uses HTTP sessions to maintain state. That means that the webservice sends a token to the client to be passed back on subsequent calls.
    Unfortunately, the webservice control in 8.1 doesn't know how to send the session token back to the MS webservice. The webservice control knows how to talk SOAP only. It doesn't know about session tokens. The reason for this is the different protocols available to transmit SOAP. Most of them are not HTTP session aware.
    Workshop webservices uses conversation ID's that are contained within the SOAP header to maintain state. That way, we don't have the dependency on the session state for maintaining state.
    The way to handle Microsoft's stateful webservice implementation is to create a custom webservice control that uses an HTTP client. Query the HTTP client for the session cookie. Store the session token and send it with subsequent calls to the MS webservice.

  • Help - using custom login module with embedded jdev oc4j to access ejb 3

    I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully been able to leverage a custom login module in combination
    with a client that connects to a local EJB 3 stateless session bean through Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2's embedded oc4j.
    I have spent 2+ days trying to get this to work - and i think I resound now to the fact im going to
    have to deploy to oc4j standalone instead.
    I got close.. but finally was trumped with the following error from the client trying to access the ejb:-
    javax.naming.NoPermissionException: Not allowed to look up XXXXXX, check the namespace-access tag
    setting in orion-application.xml for details.
    Using the various guides available, I had no problem getting the custom login module working
    with a local servlet running from JDev's embedded oc4j.. however with ejb - no such luck.

    Thus, the login permission that I'm adding through the custom remote_connect role does not seem to work. Even if it did, i'm pretty sure I would still get that namespace error.
    This has been such a frustrating process. All the custom login module samples using embedded JDeveloper show simple j2ee servlet protection based on settings in web.xml.
    There are no samples showing jdeveloper embedded oc4j using ejb with custom login modules.
    Hopefully the oc4j jdev gurus like Frank can write a paper that demonstrates this.

  • Applying patch to embedded OC4J

    Hi,
    On the 18th of October, Oracle released a patch numbered "5608209" for OC4J. One of the bugs it fixes is "5604102", which renders the WebWork framework almost useless on 10.1.3.
    Now, my question is, is there an equivalent patch that can be installed on JDeveloper to fix that issue in the embedded OC4J that comes along with JDeveloper 10.1.3?

    I was in the same situation as you are. I asked for help on MetaLink and they replied with a few command prompt lines, which worked. However, I needed to have a generic way of installing any patch to any OC4J installation (JDeveloper embedded, standalone or OracleAS), so I wrote a batch script to do the work.
    I've changed it slightly since the patch you mentioned has slightly different contents to the ones I've had previously.
    Save the text below as orapatch.bat, then run it from the command prompt (where you saved the batch file) with the command: orapatch <patch path> <oc4j path> <backup dir>
    Where <patch path> is the absolute or relative path to the unzipped patch folder (something like C:\Patches\5608209),

    I am deploying a Struts based application to an OC4J standalone instance. An Apache Web Server ( that is an Oracle HTTP server ) is handling the trafic through the firewall.
    In all JSP header files I have

    encoded?There are many ways to do this. For response generated from jsp pages, you can try adding
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-15" %>
    or its equivalent in xml syntax to the start of your jsp pages. For a complete answer for the related jsp standard, please see the section "JSP.4.2 Response Character Encoding", of jsp spec 2.1.
    Please tell me if this helps. By the way, you mentioned both ISO-8859-15 and ISO-8859 (a typo?). Why not just use ISO-8859-1, the default for non-xml jsp pages?

  • BC4J Logging on deployed OC4J instance

    Whilst developing, we've been using detailed logging by specifying the following Java options in JDeveloper:
    -Djbo.logging.trace.threshold=9 -Djbo.logging.show.timing=true -Djbo.debugoutput=console
    -Djbo.jdbc.trace=true -Djbo.logging.show.function=true
    Could anyone tell me, whats the correct way to specify these equivalent options through the iAS console? (We don't have shell prompt access so can't modify any config files directly.)

    Depending on the iAS version select the OC4J container where your applications are deployed; on top top half you see an "Administration" link. After selection this go to "Server attributes". There you find "OC4J Options" and "Java Options" under command line options. This is the point to put your switches.
    You should be careful to set jbo.debugoutput to console, because it's generation lots of messages. I would try 'file' instead.

    Have anybody use to connect to oracle via Datasource (using JNDI rather using driver managers) for J2EE (no EJB) development ? (I use WSAD 5.0)
    I had in DB2 there is a class called "DB2DataSource " coming from a package COM.ibm.db2.jndi.DB2InitialContextFactory..
    By digging into Oracle documents in their site they said use following to get InitialContextFactory...

    import com.evermind.server;
    Also I included jndi.jar in the project.
    Still I am getting error for above two packages. Where does these packages reside.
    (I have oracle 9i free downloaded version installed)
    What is OC4J ?

    I'm trying to do the same thing. I found that you can configure 3rd party data sources with the "property" element. So, your data-sources.xml should look something like:

    This seems to work with my EJB. But my JSP fails. It either cannot find the data source or doesn't get a valid data source.
    I'm also using Castor for my database access.

    I would like to know if OC4J 10.1.3.1 supports Application LifeCycle Events. I am trying to build something similar to the ApplicationLifecycleListener in WebLogic :-

    Can you please guide me to the relevant documentation ?

    We do not have a documented public API equivalent for this though the hooks are there in the container ... as you know we have taken this one offline and are working to see if a public equivalent can be published from the OC4J engineering team. If it is viable, we will post it on OTN on this thread.

    With Tomcat as jsp engine everything works fine, but with Oc4j when I try to enter the protected jsp page i have this exception:

    Since OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser which is xmlparserv2.jar.
    i have read the following article which states that
    OC4J is preconfigured to use the Oracle XML parser. The Oracle XML parser is fully JAXP 1.1 compatible and will serve the needs of applications which require JAXP functionality. This approach does not require the download, installation, and configuration of additional XML parsers.
    The Oracle XML parser (xmlparserv2.jar) is configured to load as a system level library of OC4J through it's inclusion as an entry in the Class-Path entry of the oc4j.jar Manifest.mf file. This results in the Oracle XML parser being used for all common deployment and packaging situations. You are not permitted to modify the Manifest.mf file of oc4j.jar.
    It must be noted that configuring OC4J to run with any additional XML parser or JDBC library is not a supported configuration. We do know customers who have managed to successfully replace the system level XML parser and the Oracle JDBC drivers that ship with the product, but we do not support this type of configuration due to the possibility of unexpected system behavior and system errors that might occur from replacing the tested and certified libraries.
    If you absolutely must use an additional XML parser such as xerces, then you have to start OC4J such that the xerces.jar file is loaded at a level above the OC4J system classpath. This can be accomplished using the -Xbootclasspath flag of the JRE.
    i have also run the following command
    java -Xbootclasspath/a:d:\xerces\xerces.jar -jar oc4j.jar
    but no success.
    How could i utilize my jar's like xerces.jar and xalan.jar for parsing instead of OC4J in-built parser ?
