ER: JDev 10.1.3 needs a different method to verify expert mode view objects
I am attempting to use ADF against Firebird 1.5. So far I am having great luck, especially in comparison to JDev 10.1.2. However, one thing that does not work is expert mode view objects. The problem is that JDev attempts to validate my query by creating a statement like this...
SELECT * from (my expert mode query) QRSLT where 1=2
...and such a statement is not valid in Firebird. I would recommend that a new method of validation is required when the connection type is "Third Party JDBC Driver."

iTunes is shipped with a "helper application" called the "iPod Service" that runs and is used by iTunes to communicate with the iPod device. This service may be disabled.
If your system is Microsoft Windows XP and you are logged in as an Administrator:
1. Quit iTunes and, if your iPod is currently connected to your computer, safely remove it using the system tray application to manage removable devices.
2. Right click on "My Computer"
3. Select "Manage"
4. In the "Computer Management" window, left pane (tree view), follow this path:
+Computer Management (local) > Services and Applications > Services+.
5. In the right pane, scroll down to "iPod Service" and double click it.
6. If the service is listed as "Disabled" and "Stopped," change to "Manual" and "Start" it. ("Manual" will cause it to start when iTunes starts and "Start" starts the service right now.)
7. Close "Computer Management"
8. Restart iTunes and wait for it to completely come up.
9. Reconnect your iPod.

I have 3 different apple devices (iPod Touch, iPad and MacBook Pro) using the same Apple ID and would like to use FaceTime to call from one device to the other. Do I need a different Apple ID for one of the devices in order to do that?

Yes you can do it. I do it with 4 different devices all using the same Apple ID.
You need to associate different email addresses for each device in order to use those email addresses as the "contact at" email address. The reason the calls are dropping on you now is that what you are trying to do is like calling yourself on your own phone.
You can also create new iCloud accounts on each device simply to use for FaceTime, but I'm guessing that the users of the other two devices have their own email addresses which will make this work for you quite easily.

I have one modem in the house but I need 2 different networks.
I have one modem in the house but I need 2 different networks that will not communicate or even see each other. The first network is the one that needs to be the most secure. The computers are used for personal information, documents, pictures, Apple TV and iTunes home sharing.(3 Apples, 3 iPads, 3 iPhones and 4 Apple TVs) The second network needs to be for the 3 computers and gaming systems used for social games on Facebook, PSP, XBox, and a gaming system used for World of Warcraft. The social interactions seem to be the ones that have picked up most of our computer network issues and I would like to be able to isolate them from any communication with our home network (2 PCs and 1 Mac). Is there a way that I can use 2 different routers along with blocking any bluetooth and/or bonjour connections? I am not worried about a networked printer for the second network, it is more to try and contain any issues that may slip though virus protection and create a mess with our home systems. It would be nice to still be able to set up a Guest Network for the herds of kids and adults to use when visiting as well. PLEASE tell me this can be done.

Apple may be able to do some, but not all of what you want to do.
The dual band AirPort Extreme can create a main, or "private" network and a separate "guest" network. The private network can be configured to handle both wired and wireless clients. The "guest" network works only for wireless clients.
Computers, devices, etc on the "guest" network cannot "see" or communicate with any of the devices on the main or "private" network. But, it is possible to allow clients on the "guest" network to see other devices on the "guest" network, so a wireless printer on this network would allow anyone on the "guest" network to be able to use the printer if you need that functionality.
You can "extend" the "main" network using more wireless devices if you need more wireless coverage. The "guest" network cannot be extended.
Depending on the level of service you have with your ISP, you may have bandwidth issues with two networks and multiple devices all trying to use the Internet connection. I would think that a 25-30 Mbps connection would be the bare minimum to handle what you want to do and 50 Mbps would be advised.
If you want to use two separate routers, you are really looking at a commercial type installation best handled by commercial products like Cisco, so that might be the place to look. -

If all of those Macs are for your use, you have to use the same Apple ID on all of them, so you will be able to use all the applications and songs purchased with your Apple ID on them, apart from your iCloud information, in case you have an iCloud account -

You can not login into iTunes or the App Store using VPP credentials. You must purchase all apps/book/etc. from the VPP website. Then you can redeem the codes thru itunes/app store or import the codes thru apple configurator. (It will not affect any of the apps you already have but the id can only be used for VPP.)

I have bought my husband a new I pad and we both need to use our own on a shared computer. Will the two different Apple IDs show as separate on the i tunes program or do I need two different i tune programs?

You have limited opportunity to attempt to create a backup of your created files.
That is what the SafeBoot or safemode appears to allow you -- at the moment.
Since the hard disk drive exhibits signs of failure or other major issues, plan
on a replacement in the near future. You may be able to get the computer to
start up in a regular full OS X (not safe mode) but consider its hours are limited.
An externally enclosed hard disk drive (with own power supply, not relying on
Mac ports to run it) is a good basic means of which to use a disk utility to make
a copy or a Clone of the current OS X. This may help retrieve an archive that
could be used along with a Time Machine backup, to restore your Mac once you
get a new hard drive installed inside.

I have a Power PC G4 which is running on OSX 10.5.8, it has the AirPort utility but cannot connect to the internet as my iMac can, I think I might need an AirPort Card? Is that the case or do I need something different to connect to a wireless modem?

Only one variant of the PowerMac G4 could use the faster Airport Extreme Card. The rest used the original Airport card that is pretty slow.

There are USB solutions also. However, all PowerMac G4 towers had only slower USB 1.1 ports, so any USB wireless adaptor can only run at about wireless 'B" speeds (slow) unless you also install a PCI USB 2.0 adaptor card. Doing that would allow a USB wireless adaptor to run at its maximum rated speed. These items working together would accomplish that:

Each approach has its advantages. The PCI wireless card is a one-piece solution that takes up no desk space. The USB2 card+USB2 Dongle gives you more fast ports for transferring date from other external USB devices (primarily cameras and external hard drives) at hugely faster rates than can the original ports. OK in order to read those files you will need MS Office for Mac or install MS Windows on your Mac. You can get MS Office for Mac from anyone that sells Apple products. I would suggest the Apple Store, Best Buy, Amazon etc...For help getting the data from the memory stick I'd recommend visiting your local Apple Store or AASP and they can help you move it. It should be as simple as plugging the USB drive into your USB port and then open a Finder Window where you will see the drive on the left pane. If you don't know what Finder is or how to open a new Finder window you need the sites I've noted below!!!

I have a G4 with system 10.4.11 and a 6 pin firewire trying to transfer files to my new iMac system 10.8.3, 9 pin firewire. Apple sold me FireWire 9-6 with a Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter. This will not work, do i need a different cable?

Just bought Photoshop Elements 13...I'm trying to make a slideshow but can't figure out how to alter duration time that the slide is on the screen. They presently move from one to another way too quickly...also need a different pan and zoom option. Where are all the options I had in PS10? Also...Can I burn this to a DVD?
The changes have brought improvements but also drawbacks compared with the old slideshow editor.
The templates are now fairly fixed but I find the “Classic Dark” gives reasonable results with some panning and you can click the audio button and browse you PC for any track. Unfortunately there are only three speed choices linked to the music track. The improvement for most people is that you can now export to your hard drive at 720p or 1080p and upload to sites like YouTube and Vimeo. -

but it doesn't work,
the Reports_Path is setting from the registry REPORTS_PATH.
what is a way to set reports_path dynamic ?
do I need a REPORTS_CLASSPATH in the xxx.ENV
or can I assign the REPORTS_PATH to rp2rro.pll ?

Hi, I have been trying to update many things on my 2009 white macbook. Everytime I do it tells me I need a different version. I don't know what versions I need or even where to begin or if I need to purchase new hardware? It says my version is 10.5.8. I have tried downloading 10.6 but not sure what to do. You have to understand the difference between an Update and an Upgrade.
An Update is a free change to add to the base code or as a bug fix within an existing Operating System. Such as the .8 added to 10.5.
An Upgrade is a complete new Operating System that must be purchased. Such as 10.5 Leopard to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
10.5 Leopard was based on Power PC code and was written to be able to run on both Power PC and Intel processors.
10.6 Snow Leopard has completely rewritten code and only runs on Intel Macs.
10.7 Lion used some 32 bit which allows it to run on Late 2006 through Early 2008 MacBooks and a lot of 64 bit code.
10.8 Mountain Lion is pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.
