Erase a sentence in a scanned pdf document

A scanned pdf file needs to be sent with confidential info edited out. Leaving a blank space is OK.
1.) How can sentences be securely erased in a pdf document so the intended reader cannot find the confidential info?
2.) How about securely deleting a page ?
Thank you.

In Standard 9 Vista - Redaction does not show under Advanced.
In this case using a felt marker tool would be ok - if it securely covered the data in the pdf. ?

  • How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?

How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?
I scanned a 50-page document with an HP 5610xi All-In-One using the software that comes with it: HP Scan Pro. Though the physical document has standard 8.5" x 11" pages, the PDF resulting from scanning has page size set to 35.42 × 48.67 inches (according to Preview's "Tools > Inspector". I want to resize the pages to 8.5" x 11". Shouldn't Preview be able to do that with "Tools > Adjust Size..."? When I try, the menu option is grey so I can't select it.
    I'm using Preview Version 4.2.

Thanks for the insight; that explains why it's the wrong size. I selected 300dpi scanning (which is the default, actually), but HP Scan Pro evidently created a PDF with 72dpi indicated. I want it fixed because I want to distribute the file to other people and have them able to print or display it without problems.
I still don't know why Preview won't let me change it, but your question about whether I wanted to print it did lead me to find a workaround: "File > Print" and "Save as PDF..." saved it with the correct page size.

  • How do i edit a scanned pdf document in word?

how do i edit a scanned pdf document in word?

In order to edit a scanned PDF anywhere, you'll need to run Optical Character Recognition so it can covert the text from an image to actual text.
That would require Adobe Acrobat once the PDF is created. If you are using scanning software to create the PDF, that option may be in the software so you can OCR it as you create it.

  • Copy section from a scanned pdf document

How do I copy a section from a scanned pdf document?  I can do that in Adobe Reader XI.

A section from a scanned PDF document is an image.  As you pointed out, Adobe Reader XI (desktop app) can copy images.  But the other Adobe Reader mobile products (Reader for iOS, Android, and Reader Touch for Windows 8) do not support selecting and copying of images in PDF.
Thank you for the feedback. We will consider it as a feature request for a future release.

  • Problem printing scanned PDF document from iPad to HP Photosmart Plus B209a

    Hi,
I'd like to report a problem printing a scanned PDF document from iPad via HP ePrint application to my HP Photosmart Plus B209a printer. The document was sent to the printer without any issue. However, the printer only prints out the
screenshot image in the center of the PDF page, and the image is enlarged and rotated to fit in an A4 paper. The rest of the document is simply ignored by the printer. The document with the problem can be downloaded in the link below:
Download PDF document with the problem
What could be wrong? Thank you in advance!

    Thanks for the reply.
I received the document from my teacher, so I don't know what program she used to scan it.
I tried to print the document directly from my PC which works fine though, so I guess the document is OK.
My HP printer is an old model which doesn't support eprint or air print, so I used the eprint application on iOS to print the document. I tried both color and black/white which gave me the same result: only the center screenshot image is printed out, and the image is enlarged and rotated to fit an A4 paper, the rest of the document is just ignored.
What do you mean by saving it as a document?

  • Sudden printing problems with scanned pdf documents

Hi, I suddenly experience problems when I want to print scanned pdf documents.
Since 2 years, I am using an iMac with a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M and a Samsung ML-2525W. I also use Acrobat Pro 9.0 provided with the scanner. I scan documents, save them as pdfs and print them. Worked fine until just recently. If I print scanned pdf documents, the printer give white pages. Other pdf documents get printed without problems.
I use OS X Yosemite (10.10.1) and ScanSnap Manager 3.2.L63.
    Any advice is highly appreciated

Hi Roger - the problem was going from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8. That is when all of the printing problems began, as well as the wifi getting flaky. I was able to get the iMac speaking politely to the printer by installing Repair 10.6.8 and re-adding the Canon printer (see below):
    Printer “failure”
Probably the single most common 10.6.8 problem, at least as evidenced by a massive 17 page thread in Apple Support Communities, is a failure to print. The typical symptom is that the printer driver software pauses, displaying a message that states something like: “printer-state-message="/usr/libexec/cups/backend/lpd failed" or “/usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed.” Not all printers have this problem, but users report seeing the symptom in a variety of different printers.
As is often the case with update-related problems, reinstalling 10.6.8 from the combo updater may eradicate the symptom. Another possible solution is modifying a printer file in the /etc/cups/ppd directory (as detailed in the above-linked thread).
Unfortunately, none of these solutions are guaranteed to work. What does reliably fix the problem is to downgrade back to 10.6.7. If you’d rather stick with 10.6.8, you can instead downgrade just the quartet of printer-related files that appear to be the root cause of the symptom. These are the socket, dnssd, lpd and ipp files, located in the /usr/libexec/cups/backend directory.
A Mac user wrote an application, Repair10.6.8 (direct download link), that automatically downgrades these four files for you. Several users report success with this program. After running the Repair app, you may also need to “reset printing system” by selecting the command from the contextual menu for the printer name in the Print & Fax System Preferences pane.

  • Scanned [PDF] Document Greyed Out

    Hello:
I have a Windows 7 Professional [SP1] (64)-bit computer running Acrobat v9.5.x that is having problems scanning in documents from a HP LaserJet Pro 400 MFP 425dn all-in-one, as PDFs, using the native HP scanning software that came with the device.
Scanned documents are "greyed out" when viewed in Acrobat, however, when these same documents are printed our or sent via e-mail [as attachments] they are displayed properly in Acrobat.
An additional oddity, is that on the same computer under a different user profile, the same scanned document is displayed properly in Acrobat.
While I realize that this could be a scanner [scanner software] issue, it seems likely that it may have something to do with the users [profile specific] Acrobat settings, so I'm wondering if there are some things I could check or if there is a way to remove this persons Acrobat settings, so they can be recreated.
    Thanks in Advance,

  • How to erase lines and columns from a pdf document

hi, i have a pdf document with rows and columns and some text writen in them. I want to be able to delete the rows and columns but i haven't found a way to do that yet.Can anyone help me please??? i can delete the content in the cells but not the row/column itself. Also i want to do the opposite thing in another pdf (add rows and columns), i also haven't found the way yet
    Thank you!!

This is a very long way from what is possible. Acrobat is not a design tool or word processor. You can delete what is at a location on the page, but it sounds as if you expect the text to reflow and close up the gaps - this will not happen.

  • How do I hide or delete names in a scanned pdf document I created ?

    Hi,
I have scanned into pdf some contract documents and would like to hide or erase the names contained in the files.
    Can this be done ?
    Thanks.

The only safe way of doing it is by using the Redaction tool. You can do it manually, or you can use the Search and Remove Text function.
Of course, for the latter you'll have to first run Recognize Text on the file to convert the scanned text into "real" text.
You can find the Redaction tools under Tools - Protection.

  • The highlighter feature is not working on my iPad or my desktop for scanned pdf documents

any suggestions?  The comments bubble works, but not the highlighter.

The Highlighter only works to highlight text. A scanned image only has an image of text and cannot be highlighted. That's just the way it works, sorry.

While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

Thanks for answering. The version is XI.0.10. I just did the update yesterday hoping that I could now properly edit a scanned pdf document. Yes, it's happening on most all scanned documents. I followed your steps & found the list of fonts used in the document & then attempted to edit. The same occurs. When I type in a correction, I get an error alert... "the original font (in this case Fd 5805) is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font Minion Pro in its place."
When I select the text & right click as you suggested, my only choices are cut, copy, delete or select all, no "edit text".
I have no other options to choose another font. Thanks for any help you can direct my way.

-My new HP Officejet Pro 8610 printed a newly scanned pdf document as an all black picture. I then printed a saved word documtent from my iMac which included a small picture. Hey there @TM-10
    Welcome to the Community
I read through your post about your new Officejet 8610 scanning a document to your computer and printing out all black. I have a couple ideas for you to try.
Try the steps in this guide: Unexpected Scan Output Using HP Scan Application for HP Multifunction Printers When Using OS X v10.9...
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help.
    Good luck

  • Scanned PDF files open at 300% size

I use an iMac with System OSX 10.6, and have Adobe Reader installed.   Today I scanned some documents into my computer using my HP Photosmart  All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier.   When I open the scanned pdf documents, they are huge--300% of normal size.   I am able to reduce the size using the +/- button, every time I close them and open them again, they open at the large size.    Is there a setting I can change in Adobe Reader or Preferences such that files will open at regular 100% size?   Apple Tech Support was able to help me do this by setting my computer to open pdf documents using Apple's Preview application, but there must also be a way to do it using Adobe Reader?

Go to Reader preferences>Page Display>Default layout and zoom>Zoom and set it for what you want.
