Erase a White Background on a Photo

I need to erase a white background on a photo of a wine bottle so a web host can use the bottle image without the white background but when I save the image with the background removed, it is still there when I open the saved jpeg image.

JPEGs don't support alpha-transparency.
If your image is a photo, Save for Web as PNG-24 with transparency.
If your image is a drawing, Save for Web as GIF with transparency.

Is the logo in a pixel layer surrounded by white?
You could make it a layer if it isn't already, then use the Layer Style dialog and set the Blend If parameter so that it will make light colors transparent...
You can composite it into a web page with transparency by saving it as a PNG file, as JJMack has noted.

  • White background of cropped photo keeps printing in pdf

    Hi'ya
Using the "Extract" filter to crop a photo in Photoshop 7.0 allowed me to extract a person from a photo and it was saved as a .psd file.
In my InDesign 2.0.1 layout, the psd file looks great and as it was an extracted image, I can put things in the foreground or background for a layering effect.
I go to make a pdf and the pdf looks great on screen but when it comes to printing a white but invisible box prints around the psd file and blocks off items behind it.
    HELP!

I don't have your version of InDesign, but I would export your InDesign file to PDFx-1a (Acrobat 4 compatibility) Advanced> transparency flattener (high-res), then print the PDF.
In later versions of InDesign you can go to window> output> flattener preview> transparency flattener presets> (high-res).

  • Is there a way to change the WHITE background color of the photo gallery/COLLECTIONS to BLACK.  IPad 4 ios 7

As a Professional Photographer, I chose to buy an IPad 4 for only one reason and that was the amazing color and clarity of the Photo Gallery as a mobile Portfolio.
Originally the background color of the IPad 4 Gallery was BLACK and this facilitated the photos greatly, photos look better and stand out better on a BLACK background. White backgrounds cause a glare eminating from the edges of the photo and cause iris in our eyes to close down, degrading the quality of the photo being viewed.
I updated to ios 7 and now my IPad 4 has a WHITE background, which is unacceptable for viewing photos.
HOW DO I CHANGE the WHITE background on the Photo/Gallery/COLLECTIONS to BLACK?
Apple should ALWAYS give USERS/OWNERS of their products control of such details. IT'S JUST GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Vancouver22  Thanks for your help... the SLIDESHOW turned black for me automatically when the slideshow began. That works most excellent!
Now if I can just get the White Background to STAY BLACK, this might not be as painful as I feared.
My IP4 does lag slightly, but not enough to set fire to it yet.
The gallery/COLLECTIONS/ALBUMS are the most important thing to me.
    Thanks!

  • White Background Image how do I take off?

Hey guys, recently I made my first project and it looks like this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXQEDreFoe4
Problem im thinking of doing the same concept but I dont want the white background of the image.
Does anybody know how I can erase the white background and only show the red/black letters? Thank you!

A media player will always have a background. If you remove any colored background you'll get black, not transparent because no media player, not YouTube, not Vimeo, not Widows Media Player, not Quicktime, will render a transparent background. Without seeing a screenshot of your project with all properties revealed by pressing the U key twice, it is impossible to give you step by step instructions for changing the background but the most likely solution is to turn off or delete the bottom layer and replace it with something else.

  • Hello everyone, So When I use the eraser on a photo and try to save it as jpeg is makes is save it as a copy but the parts that I erased are replaced with a white background and thats not what I want

Hello everyone, So When I use the eraser on a photo and try to save it as jpeg is makes is save it as a copy but the parts that I erased are replaced with a white background and thats not what I want

That may not be what you want, but Jpeg images are flattened, without transparency.  Every pixel has a color value, with the default background usually being white.  If you want to crate an image that leaves the erased area transparent, you will need to use an image format such as .gif or .pnc.

  • How do I get a totally white background in a jewelry photo?

I need step-by-step instructions to get a 'professional' white background on a jewelry photo, as I've read guides, forums, all about Adjustment Layers, and I still am not achieving white. Thanks!

You just have to use Magic Eraser and it does it for you automatically.  the two icons you need are these:
    1) First click this icon:
    2) then click this icon:
    3) click anywhere in the background of your picture and it will delete it completely.
    Good luck.
nb:  The inner negative spaces are also deleted in the same way.

When talking about a specific image posting the image may be useful.
One can use a Layer Mask and add a white Layer underneath.

  • How do I make a photo background which is in two colours into one of the present colours, e.g. I have a predominantly white background with a small area of brown around a particularly nice photo of an iris?

How do I get the background of a photo which is predominantly white, but has some brown area, all white?  The photo is of an iris but the top part of the flower is 'absorbed' into the brown background?  Help, please.  Groan

By using an image-manipulation tool such as Adobe's Photoshop, Flying Meat's Acorn, or the open-source GIMP package, or similar.  There are various other packages around.
Now if you're looking for help with a specific package and not for the general sort of package that would be required, then you'll want to identify which image-manipulation tool you're using.  (And also consider checking with the forums specific to that tool; most organizations have some sort of FAQ or Wiki or documentation for the particular package.)

  • Photo template with white background #ffffff appears gray online, using Photoshop CS5.

Aloha! I am stumped with this and need your help.
Here's what I want to do: Create a seamless white border around my photo on a white background (blog post area is white). I am using Photoshop CS5.
I've tried saving the file as PNG, GIF, and JPG but all appear as gray in the area I want as white.
Photo below is how my image appears on a white background. The area surrounding the photo and behind the word "example" is the gray area that is white #ffffff on PS but appears otherwise when posted online (my blog on Blogger).
The top image is a PNG file, the bottom is a GIF. The GIF is slightly better but still gray. I would like the surrounding area to be pure white so it just blends into the white background (post area).
This is the image I see on PS, it is white in the areas surrounding the center photo, this is how I intend the final image to look like:
I've even chosen my background (while creating a new document) as white for the background color. I've even tried a transparent background but all that did was make it worse and turn the transparent background to black when I post the image online.
Here's a screen capture of my layers (not sure if this info is necessary but I do need help).
If anyone would like to help me with this I'd really appreciate your assistance.  Thank you so much!!

Mylenium, I went back in and took screen shots of what I found according to your article. I finally found color settings.
And as for "view", I couldn't find this part in your article: View--Proof Setup enable Monitor RGB and make sure Proof Colors is enabled."
This is a capture of what I find:
Where do I check off under Proof Setup?
    Thanks again!

I created a photo book in Photoshop elements 11 that contains png files with the invisible backgrounds.  When I export the book to a jpg or a pdf, the png files appear with white backgrounds.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

jpg and pdf formats don't support transparency. You need to use a format such as tif, png or psd that does.

  • Remove white background from an outlined photo

I'm going crazy. I have a photo with a clipping path done in Photoshop CS3. All I want to do is place the photo in Illustrator CS3 on top of a colored background but every time I try, I get a white box around the photo. I've tried dragging from the PSD's, placing the photo with the background removed from Photoshop all to no avail. I thought if you made a Photoshop clipping path it would make everything outside the path transparent.
    Please, please help me.
    Marcia

Larry and Marcia it is not necessary to have the image on one layer and another layer below
that is also transparent. Just click on the background layer's name in photoshop to make it transparent then remove the unwanted areas of the image. save it as an unflattened .psd file and when you bring it into illustrator the image will remain transparent and you will be able to see objects below the areas of the image that are transparent.
I also think that the reason this did not work with the clipping path is that the clipping path was not a clipping path but just a path. Creating a path and saving the file as a .psd will do you know good unless you save the path and then make that saved path a clipping path using the commands from the path's panel drop down menu.

  • Does anyone know why photos taken on a white background have a blue tint?

When I take a photo of something on a white background, the White is tinted blue?

    Hello PheonixJodie,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you may have a photo filter enabled by default when you are taking pictures. Try tapping on the filters button and then selecting the “None” option:
Take photos and videos - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iph1e767793c
Apply a filter: Tap the filters button to apply different color effects, such as Mono or Chrome. To turn off a filter, tap the filters button, then tap None. You can also apply a filter later, when you edit the photo. See Edit photos and trim videos.

You will need a 3rd party image editor that can seletively remove the background and let you create a transparent background png file. Maybe with a drop shadow (or not) something like this:
A photo of me during one of my therapy sessions.   If you have Pages (part of iWork) you can also make transparent background images with the Alpha tool..
