Erase and reset settings

So I erased and reset all my settings on my Iphone 5c because that is what I was told to do when I am giving away my phone, now that the phone is not in my possession I am now worried that maybe it didnt actually delete all the media and what not.. Is that possible?

Hey guguopeemia,
With the option to Erase all Contents and Settings, that will erase everything off your iPhone. Take a look at the article below that explains the process of that option to erase your iPhone.

  • I want to give my iphone to my freind and thus I tried to Erase all contents and reset everything. I went settings-general-erase and reset. But while it was being processed, power supply went off. I have connected back to power but after 4 hours no repson

Can anyone advise me how long does it normally take to reset while doing- settings-general-erase and reset all settings. It has already taken 4 hours and only the apple logo is being displayed yet. I am little bit worried if the operating system will not be restored.

Use the following steps to place your device into recovery mode. If the device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
    Did you do this?
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone or iPod touch to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPhone. When you reconnect the USB cable to iPhone, the device should power on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure the battery has some charge and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If none of these works, visit your nearest Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider or wireless carrier.
    Cheers!

You iPod has been jail broken.  Unfortunately you are on your own here. I can offer that you need to find out which method and software was used to JB.
    Good luck...you're gonna need it....

  • To remove all personal information from an iPhone I am about to dispose of, is it sufficient to use the "erase and reset" command in Settings, or should I do something more?

I am about to replace an iPhone 4.  I want to make sure that it contains no recoverable personal information, such a contacts, photos, e-mail, etc.  If I use the erase and reset function in Settings will that be sufficient?  Or is there a way to write over the old information in a manner similar to a "secure empty trash?"

My 12yr old daughter set but doesn't remember the parental password on her ipod touch. How can I erase and reset everything?

    Two possible ways:
    - If you have a backup made without the Restrictions passcode, restore the iPod from the backup.
    - Restore the iPod to factory settings/new iPod.

    Polly,
usually there are multiple models of MacBook Pro per model number, but in the case of your model number (A1502), there’s currently only one model for that model number: 13-inch Late 2013.
To reset your MacBook Pro, you’ll need to boot into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as you start it up. When the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk (most likely the top item of the list). On the right-hand side, select the Erase tab. For the Format dropdown, select “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”. For the Name input box, “Macintosh HD” has traditionally been the default name — I don’t know if that’s still the case for the Late 2013 models. After that, press the Erase… button, and erase its entire internal disk. When it’s finished with the erasure, exit Disk Utility, and select Shut Down from the Apple menu. When you start it up again, OS X Internet Recovery will redownload Mavericks from Apple’s servers and reïnstall it on your internal disk. Once it has reïnstalled, run Software Update to get it up to date, and adjust the System Preferences to your taste.

  • IPad 2 - did an erase and reset and now it will not respond

I did an erase and reset on my iPad 2 and now it will not respond, not even by plugging it in to a computer.
I attempted to do this last night before 10pm and it is after 1pm and is still "cycling".  (The little circle in the middle of a black screen that just goes round and round)
I've tried to power off with side and front buttons and I have plugged it into the computer as well.  Computer is not recognizing it is even there.
    HELP!

Powering Off by using the two buttons? Did you reboot it this way?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • How to erase and reset your Galaxy S6 (and why you'd want to)

Samsung has included some additional features to this function just in case you're doing something other than handing your Galaxy S6 off to another user.
How to erase and reset your Galaxy S6 (and why you'd want to) | Android Central

    Hi,
I'm in the same boat. I have an older 13" black MacBook and bought a new 13" MacBook Pro. Your outline isnt' what I experience, yet it's similar to the Apple Article at
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1820
    They have the following steps:
These steps assume you have a Mac OS X 10.2.3 or later CD:
    1. Insert the Mac OS X CD.
    2. Restart the computer.
    3. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the "C" key to start up from CD.
    4. When the Installer screen appears, do not click Continue. Instead, choose Installer > Open Disk Utilities.
    5. Select the hard drive to erase.
    6. Click the Erase tab.
    7. Select the volume format from the Volume Format pop-up menu.
    8. Click Options.
    9. Select the checkbox for "Zero all data".
    10. Click OK.
    11. Click Erase
I'm not sure if I'm obtaining what I want; Zero erase then reinstall. I'm using my OS X Leopard Install Disk. I did steps 1 - 3. As I held the "C" key, I got a gray screen with the Apple logo and a spinning icon below. It did this for about 3 minutes (my "c" holding finger was getting sore )
I never got a step 4. It went straight to "Choose a Language" I did: English
    I never got choices 5 to 11.
I got the screen showing the drive and asking if I want to install. I continued.
I then opened the "Options" tab. There I could erase existing OS install and then reinstall. There was never a choice for "Zero All Data."
I'm currently letting it do it's thing and it's in stalling, about 26 mins to go, already been about 20 mins.
Did I miss something, or is the "zero" option not the same for Leopard?
    Much thanks,

  • IPod Touch (2nd Generation): Erase and Reset all contents before selling

    Dear all,
I have an iPod Touch sencnd generation and I am about to ship it out to someone who has bought it online. I want to delete *all* the important info I have on this piece of hardware and reset it to the default settings. I have gone through the following steps so far: settings > general > reset > "erase all settings and contents."
But I wonder if with a sophisticated software someone can still recover my previously stored passwords and private materials on this iPod Touch. How is it possible to completely zero out the hard drive just like you'd do on a computer? How reliable is "erase all settings and contents" by the way?
    Many thanks,
    Ron

I would be satisfied with what you did.  The iPod touches use Flash storage so there is no hard drive.  You can tr erasing all contents amd setting a few times since that overwrites existing data.  From the Users Guide:
Erase all content and settings:  Connect iPod touch to your computer or a power
adapter. Choose General > Reset and tap “Erase All Content and Settings.”
This resets all settings to their defaults and erases all your information and media:
Â On iPod touch 3rd generation or later:  by removing the encryption key to the data
(which is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption)
Â On iPod touch 2nd generation:  by overwriting the data
Important:  You can’t use iPod touch while data is being overwritten. This can take
up to four hours or more, depending on the model and storage capacity of your
iPod touch. (On iPod touch 3rd generation or later, the encryption key is removed
    immediately.)
