Erased iMac now iphoto isn't there

I erased my 2008 iMac and restored it with snow leopard because that was the only disc I had, now I dont have iphoto and imovie or garage band any longer.  Will Apple replace them or do I have to buy them from the Apple store? Or is there a way to get them back?

What version of Snow Leopard are you on? You need 10.6.6 or later to be able to access the Mac App Store (to buy iMovie etc). However, those versions will be the latest, so you'll need to check the requirements to make sure they'll run with your OS version.
Also, you should have your original disks which actually contain the complete iLife suite; for instance, if you no longer havem them,  iDVD is no longer available, so if you use that, I'd suggest that you look for an older version of the retail iLife (such as 08, 09, or (if it'll work on Snow Leopard) 11) - they contain the complete suite including iDVD - I'd recommend that over buying the individual apps. Check online resellers (such as Amazon) and ebay.
