Erased Mac OS Lion, But how can I reinstall Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Greetings
I had erased Mac OS Lion, and I woudl like to Reinstall Mac OS X  Snow Leopard agine from DVD installer?
I have MacBook Pro, i7
have a nice day
Suleyman

Infact, I didn't deleted any partition, I created a new partition, in windows, using Computer Manager, then I formated this new partition, after that, it seems that windows changed the other partitions !!
I boot my MacBookPro using a snow leopard Mac DVD, and click on Disk Utility.
There is 3 partitions:
Disk0S1 440 GB
Disk0S2 60GB
Disk0S3 2MB !!
partition type for three of them is Wondows_LDM, not Mounted, and no more info about other parameteres.
When I click on repair disk, or verify disk, it says: "reparing volume failed: Unrecognized file system"
Note: when I purchased my macbook pro A1278, The Original osx was Lion.

  • How can i reinstall os one Imac Snow leopard 10,6,4

i have to reinstall my i-mac, snow leopard OS. the problem i have is that the mac dont takes the install cd, no matter what i try. the only thing what happens is that i can see the apple and i can hear that its working, but the cd becomes throw out after some seconds. im not able to start it at all, no matter what i do. after i let run the hardware-test i get the message that nothing is wrong, but still i can not install or start the mac. i have no idea what i should do or how i should do it. it was now 2 times in a service, the only thing i was told that everything is ok and i only have to reinstall it....i try my best, but it still will not do anything!! also the company info-care norge which has the mac-service tells me only to install all new and that it has nothing to do with my guaranty.

Report the company to AppleCare directly:
    http://www.apple.com/contact/phone_contacts.html
Obviously they don't know some basic troubleshooting steps and need to either lose their service provider agreement or get better training.
Some of those basic steps are to:
    1. Determine if your machine is too new to use the 10.6.3 retail, and then determine if you were using the prebundled disc that came with your Mac. Look at your Mac's serial number. The 5 alphanumeric characters that start it tell you how new it is.
xx013 or greater to xx111 can't use anything other than the prebundled discs.
xx935 to xx952 and xx001 to xx012 can use the 10.6.3 retail and prebundled discs that came with the Mac.
xx602 to xx934 can use any Snow Leopard retail and the prebundled discs, as long as 1 GB of RAM or more is installed.
xx601 and less can't use Snow Leopard at all.
Retail discs must look like * and not say Upgrade Dropin, or OEM.
x can be any letter or number.
    2. Make sure the Mac is less than 4 years old. If it is more than 4 years old, to check if the PRAM battery is aging.
    3. Determine if any of their discs that meet qualifications of #1 work. If they do, then ask Apple ship you replacement discs. If they don't, they should test an external optical bootable DVD drive to see if that works. And if that doesn't work to determine if the machine is stuck in a firmware upgrade loop, or firmware password reset loop, or if the hard drive is dying, or if one of your connected peripherals might not be compatible with the installer.

erased mac book pro (2009), how can i reinstall osx?  it won't recognize old system discs

    Did you try:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you don't have the original discs that came with the computer, then you can install the retail version of Snow Leopard:
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.

How can I upgrade from OS X Snow Leopard to OS X Lion?

Well Mt Lion is the latest, but if your machine can't do 10.8, then call Apple via phone and order 10.7
However you really need to do your homework first, as a lot of software and drivers could stop in 10.7, no Rosetta like in 10.6, could cost you plenty.
Things to consider before upgrading OS X

Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

I need to check a few other things...
Click on 'Mail' in the upper left corner next to the Apple ()
    Click Preferences
    Click the 'Accounts' tab
Make sure your iCloud account is highlighted in the column on the left.
In the account information section what does it say next to:
    Incoming Mail Server?
    Outgoing Mail Server?
Also, did you use MobileMe before the iCloud?

  • How can i get xcode for osx snow leopard?

how can i get xcode for osx snow leopard?

I'm an experienced software developer (C, C++, Lisp, Linux, Unix, etc) but have never done any Mac development, and wanted to try some stuff on my iMac at home, but I have Snow Leopard and most of the turtorials I looked at said the first thing I had to do was download XCode and the first thing that happened when I tried to do that was it said I had to upgrade to Lion.
My iMac is running SnowLeopard.   I don't have any big reason to stay at SnowLeopard, but from stuff I've seen in the forums I can't see any big reason to upgrade to Lion.   I might eventually want to do development for IOS on an iphone or iPad, but for now I just want to do a simple tutorial app for my iMac.
I found the downloads search page, and it looks like there's two versions of Xcode  3.2.7 which has a release date of Sep 2011, and 3.2 with a release date of Jan 2012.
Which one should I download?   And if I download one of these will it be a problem if I do upgrade to Lion in a few months?

  • How can I tell where the OS (Snow Leopard) is? I'm not sure if it is on the SSD or the regular HD.

How can I tell where the OS (Snow Leopard) is? I’m not sure if it is on the SSD or the regular HD. I just had a rough weekend trying to back things up with Time Machine and I think the OS was copied to the regular HD, or could be in two places? How do I find where the OS is? If it is on the regular drive I want to put it on the SSD.
    Thank you very much!

Some recent systems don't observe that convention - not sure at the moment about Snow Leopard but I have a feeling it doesn't.
Copy the following into the AppleScript Editor (in Applications/Utilities)
set dsk to the path to startup disk as string
    display dialog dsk
    click the 'run' button.

You'll be given the option to change the target after the download is complete and before the actual installation begins. The process is otherwise the same as normal.

  • Using apple mac with Lion 10.7.5. I need to reload Snow Leopard to use a film edtiting program. Can I have the two programs on the mac?

I'm using an apple mac with lion 10.7.5 loaded. I need to load snow leopard to use a film editing program. Can I load snow leopard without removing Lion?
If so are there any problems doing it?

You need and external drive to make a clone of your current installation of OS X. Then you can use DIsk Utility (Apps/Utilities) to divide the internal drive into two partitions. Doing so will erase the drive, which is why you need the clone so you don't loose everything. Then copy the clone to one partition to restore everything and use a Snow DVD to install it on the 2nd partition.

  • How can I transfer my Entourage 2004 (Snow Leopard) emails to my new MacBookPro (Lion)

Just got a new 15" MacBook Pro (Lion) and would like to move my saved emails from my older Intel MacBook Pro 17" (Snow Leopard). I enabled sharing, but cannot open Entourage or find a way to import or export the emails. I can copy the archived emails file to the new computer, but there's no way to get the emails into Mail. I read that getting a trial in MSFT Office 2011 and importing the emails to Outlook from the saved archives might be the only solution.
Before I go through this process, I'd like to ask if there's any other way to accomplish this migration.

Copy the Microsoft User Data folder to the new computer's /Home/Documents/ folder. Open Mail and select Import Mailboxes from the File menu. Click the radio button for Entourage and follow instructions. Similarly, you can import contacts into Address Book and, I think, iCal.
    Correction:
iCal will import from Entourage. However, Address Book does not in a similar way. You need to create a vCard file from Entourage itself. If I remember correctly you can create a temporary folder, then export your Entourage contacts as vCards and save in the folder. Transfer the folder to the new computer. Open Address Book. Open the folder of vCards. Select all of them and drag the selection into Address Books list section - the middle section.

  • How can I know if I have Snow Leopard on my mac?

How can I find out if I have Snow Leopard on my mac?

Click on the black apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen
Drag the cursor down to 'About this Mac' and click it
That should bring up a pane that has information about your Mac
If under Mac OS X, you see version 10.6.x, where x = 0 through 8, then you are running Snow Leopard
Why do you need to know?

  • How can I upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard wihout violating EULA while Mac Box Set is no longer available?

I use my original Tiger bought with MacBook Pro. But now so many applications do not support Tiger, so I decided to upgrade to SL.
But required by Apple way to do this with Mac Box Set seems to be impossible. Mac Box Set is no longer available from Apple.
Is upgrading using Snow Leopard disc, which is still in Apple Store, ok?
I will be gratefull for help.

The Mac Box Set includes Mac OS X Snow Leopard, iLife ’09 and iWork ’09. If you just use the SL installer, you don't get the additional apps.

The Snow Leopard box set is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753). You may also find a box set on eBay.
It's possible that some of your current apps may not work in Snow Leopard. You can check here: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Application Compatibility List at http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/

  • How can I disable save sleep in Snow Leopard

I've installed 10.6.2 on a 16 GB SDHC card as an emergency boot drive for my MacBook Pro as an alternative to carrying an external HD when travelling. I would also want to use this card for download of large numbers of digital photos in the event of a catastrophic HD meltdown. I have trimmed the card to leave 5.38GB free, but would prefer more space. The sleepimage file is taking up 4GB, and the only procedure I have found to disable safe sleep and get rid of the sleepimage file can be found here: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070302210328928, but the hint is marked 10.4 only. Can anyone advise me on the procedure to accomplish this in Snow Leopard? Safe sleep would not be a priority for me in an emergency situation. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

    This should help:
Energy Saver- About sleep and idle modes in Mac OS X.
Description and modification of the different hibernate modes
When the computer goes into sleeping mode, its behavior depends on a power management variable called hibernate mode. The hibernate mode can be set to different values:
0 : Default sleep behavior on most Apple computers. RAM is still powered on while sleeping. Wake up is fast. Safe sleep is disabled.
1 : Hibernation behavior. System is totally shut down while sleeping. RAM contents are dumped to disk. Wake up is slow.
3 : Default behavior on Powerbook HD computers. RAM is still powered on while sleeping. Wake up is fast. Safe sleep is enabled, so RAM contents are also dumped to disk before going to sleep.
Only a single mode can be activated at a time. In order to check what hibernate mode is currently active, the following command can be used in the Terminal application:
    pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
In addition, users with administrator privileges can choose the hibernate mode. In order to do so, the following command can be used:
    sudo pmset -a hibernatemode X
with X replaced by the value of the hibernate mode to set. You will be asked to enter your admin password. It will not be echoed.
