Erased website file

when moving from a macbook to a macbook pro, I erased the macbook before I had copied/moved my website file found in Library.  The website was made using iweb and of course can be accessed thru Safari ect.  Is there anyway I can continue adding to this website using my new macbook pro?   thank u joanlvh

Did you use the Setup Assistant to move from your old to your new MBP?  iWeb files are in the user/library/application support/iWeb folder.
Do you have a Time Machine backup you can retrieve the folder?  Mobileme back up? If this your own .com you could ftp your files back down to your computer.
If you don't have a backup copy of files that iWeb uses to create the site you'll have to start over.
Look at Chapter 2.3 iWeb FAQ.org  http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Backup_retrieve.html  for tips on using some of the existing images, audio/ video files in the published site to help reconstruction.

  • How can multiple users from different locations access my Muse website files to update them?

We're a team, and we need to be able to work together remotely.
How can I let another user (on the East Coast - I'm on the West coast) have access to my Muse website files so that they can work on them and make changes - but I can also work on them here?
I've already made them an Admin in the Manage section of the live Muse website that is hosted on Business Catalyst.
BTW, they also belong to Creative Cloud.
    Thanks!

You need to share your .muse file with this other person.
Muse does not currently support multiple users opening the same .muse file at the same time.
There's lots of options for sharing a file - you could copy it up to a company network server, or email the file back and forth, or use a filesharing service like Dropbox, SendThisFile, Adobe SendNow, or Creative cloud sync, among others.
Which one is right for you depends on the size of your file, how often you're sending the file back and forth, and personal preferences
Whatever you choose, it's important that you DO NOT have 2 users working on the same .muse file at the same time. This can cause corruption of your .muse file. I'd also recommend frequent backups of your .muse file, as you might find that one of you clobbers a change made by the other and you want to be able to go back to your old copy of your .muse file to copy/paste some content to your latest copy of your .muse file.

  • Is there any way to erase all files from a broken macbook without switching it on??

My macbook air died when I stupidly spilled nail polish remover over the keyboard- this was actually about two years ago and for various reasons I've only just gotten round to figuring out the best way to dispose of it. The problem is that it no longer switches on at all (and doesn't charge either), so I have no way of erasing my files and personal information and I'm just not comfortable recycling it knowing there could still be stuff stored on there. Does anyone know of a way to wipe the memory without switching it on, or have any suggestions for what I can do with it otherwise?

    1. Click here and follow the instructions; if you have a different MacBook Air model, see the links at the bottom of that page.
    2. Put it in an enclosure(any large enough computer store should have them) and erase it, or just keep the drive.

Arty ~ Welcome to the Support Communities. iWeb can't import/open published HTML/media files on your iDisk. iWeb can only open its key Domain file which contains your site data — it's usually located here:

  • Itunes erases all files on ipod when I try to sync everytime

Help! Whenever I sync my ipod, itunes automatically erases my files on my ipod without reason. So I have to sync all my music again. I don't know if I made it do this, or my computer just does not like my ipod. Can someone tell me what I should try to do to fix this! Sometimes my computer has a box that pops up and says I can scan for something or fix without scanning, or the usual #48 error???????

well there is a setting in itunes9 to tell it not to sync ipod when connected automatically.
Its under itunes menu...edit,pref's,device settings tab...tick "dont sync auto".
do you have more then one ipod on itunes or more then one itunes program on pc, that could cause it..or are you connecting it to a program not currently authorized w/that ipod?
Thats all I can think of, good luck.

  • I erased some files in my cloud can i have it back ???

Hi i erased some files in my cloud can i have it back?? thank you ????

    Hi Alexandra,
Unfortunately, once files have been deleted from your Acrobat.com account, there's no way to recover them. But, when you uploaded your files, the copies on your computer remain, so perhaps there are some copies on your computer?

  • How do i get hosted website files back into iWeb after they were lost off iWeb?

Lost all website files from my iWeb program.  Possible I updated a newer non compatible iWeb version?  At any rate........have website files back on my desktop and have no idea how to get them back into iWeb so I can modify.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You can't.  iWeb has no import capability.  Search your hard drive for a file named Domian.sites2.  It normally resides in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you use Time Machine you can go back in it to find the latest copy of that file.
    However,
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you can't find it you'll have to start a new website.  You can open the files from the website in your browser and copy/drag photos from the existing website pages into a new or blank iWeb page.  Text should be selected and copied and then pastes into the new webpage.  No need to add a text box first.

  • Cannot Erase Locked Files on External HD

I have been trying to back up using Time Machine, but my HD is full. So I erase the contents of the HD (previous Backup) by dragging it to the recycle bin and hitting Empty Recycle bin. This process stops as it encounters 2 locked files (no idea what they are: BottX and Boot.efi. ) So these 2 files are on a previous back-up on my HD which i want to erase in order to perform a new back up with TM. Problem is, I cannot find a way to erase those files and dragging them out of the recycle bin onto the desktop and unlocking them on the desktop has not worked. Any ideas?

I've already tried that. i still get a prompt to do so, but cannot unlock those files while they are in the recycle bin. So I took them out onto the Desktop, unlocked them and nothing. They still show up locked in the bin (hence the HD).
How can I get rid of the contents pf the HD other than by drapging it to the recycle bin and clicking option Key + empty bin?

  • OSX asks for password everytime I want to erase a file

    Hi guys,
OSX asks for password everytime I want to erase a file from one of my 4 internal HD's. Is there a solution so I dont have to do this everytime?
    Thanks!

Mac OS X is inherently a Multi-User system, even when ther is only one User account.
Whether it asks depends on the permissions of the file in question.
If your login_id is the Owner, it will not ask.
If your login_Id is NOT the owner, then it will ask for proper authority to delete a file that does not belong to you, such as the Admin ID and password.

Do not concern yourself about the backups.  They will be deleted automatically if space is needed for other data:

  • Updated to IWeb 08 from IWeb06, can't find website files?

I updated to IWeb 08 from IWeb 06 and can't find my old website files. They used to appear when I would just click on the IWeb icon in my dock? Can anyone tell me how to retrieve them?
    Many thanks!

Check in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. There should be a Domain file there which is your iWeb content.

  • In disk utility, below Macintosh HD I have 4 trojan "decryptedFile.dmg (flash player)" and my computer is super slow, does erasing Macintosh HD will also erase these files?  If not how can I erase? (bear in mind computer so slow a click takes forever)

in disk utility, below Macintosh HD I have 4 trojan "decryptedFile.dmg (flash player)" and my computer is super slow, does erasing Macintosh HD will also erase these files?  If not how can I erase? (bear in mind computer so slow a click takes forever)

Thank you Thomas in fact I have seen your guide before  and had gone thru the steps including repair disk which didn´t work. I am erasing disk before checking hardware. I have posted a photo of the 4 decrypted files in the disk utility and also of the adobe icons in the dock and question marks. Some people say if the adobe appears in the dock is because it is the trojan flash player and they keep jumping in the dock.  If this is not malware it seems to be an incredible coincidence that when I start seeing these things in my dock and the decrypted files in my disk utility is when my computer goes so slow (I am typing this in my macbook air because to write this message in my imac would be about 6 hours, I am not kidding, it is completely useless at this point it took me 2 and half days too instal mac os x after disk repair, it took me 3 days to transfer just 100 gigabites and now is taking the whole day (and it says another day more) just to erase the disk. Despite all this the icon of adobe keeps jumping in the dock so, although I am no computer and mac expert, just an user, I am inclined to think that it is malware and it is a shame that mac doesnt´recognize it or have anything here to help me get rid of this.  I am not even sure if erasing the disk will work since repairing didn´t work... all advice is welcomed.

  • Opening a website file in iWeb 08

    Hi,
I want to open a website file/folder created in an earlier version of iWeb into iWeb 08.
How to do this and also the folder containing all the website files is on my iDisk and not on my hard drives?

If you don't have the original domain.sites file on your computer then you can't. There is nothing you can do.
iWeb is not an html editor so it CANNOT import an already published site from your iDisk.
If you can get the original domain.sites file from User/Library/Application Support/iWeb, then you can open this with iWeb 08, but if not, then you are looking at re-building your site in iWeb 08. You can use your published site as a guide to copy and paste, but nothing more.
