Erasing Background (Almost)

This design issue is driving me nuts.
I'm creating a flyer that incorporates "floating" product images.
I removed the background of the original images, using Photoshop. Two files were rendered from tiff, and two files were rendered from smaller rez jpgs. All four floating images were saved as psd files.
I created the flying in Adobe Illustrator, and placed the psd files onto the AI artwork, and the monitor depicts elements as they should be depicted.
Problem is when I print the document in color two of the "floating" images are enclosed by boxes.

Can anyone explain how I might fix this issue? I feel like it stems from the nature of the original image files (tiff vs jpeg), but unfortunately I don't have hi rez tiffs of the "error" images.
Thank you!

As a workaround, in your layered document you could select the solid-colored areas around the gloves (e.g., with the magic wand tool) then delete those pixels.

  • How do I erase background from gif graphic in Photoshop 7  for use on website?

I am using Photoshop 7 and am trying to convert a jpg photo from my camera to a gif that I can use on  my website.  I erased a background on a photo with checkerboard pattern) one time (that's what I am trying to find again) and I can't find that eraser anymore.
Would appreciate any help.  I am using windows 2000 pro.

The eraser is in the Toolbox on the left but it is pretty crude for this purpose. Better to use a selection tool to isolate the area to be removed, followed by the Delete key. There are other ways but it gets more complicated.
Work on a copy to preserve the original.

  • Adding color to erased background

    Hello,
I used the Background Eraser tool to remove the background, and I would like to replace the newly transparent background with a color or gradient. I cannot seem to isolate the background with the foreground of the photo. I'm a newbie using Photoshop CS5.
    Thanks in advance!

double click on the background layer to make it into a normal layer
    add a new layer (layer>new>layer)
fill it with the colour you want(edit>fill (with colour)
Move Colour layer to below your layer 0 *(ctrl-[ )

  • Can't seem to erase background

This has got to be SO easy but even following the Help instructions isn't working.  I have a photo of a tractor trailer on a totally white background.  I want to make the white background transparent so just the truck shows when I place it in InDesign over a background color.  I've tried background eraser and magic eraser and they replace the white with checkerboard.  Then I save it as a JPEG, but when I place it the white box is still around the truck.  What am I doing wrong?

Try save for web and choose PNG24
      Alternatively add an extra layer
Layer à New Fill Layer à Solid Color
Drag it down the layer stack below the tractor then flatten image and save.

  • Erasing Backgrounds??

I am trying to cut and paste a selection from one image onto another. Is there a better (more accurate) way of erasing the background of the selection I just copied. I tried the background eraser tool but find the brush pattern leaves semi-cicular edges as I am erasing the background. Is there a better tool that gives a little more control or a better technique or settings for using the background eraser? Thanks

Once you have used the Lasso tool to make your initial selection, here is one way to fine-tune it, getting down to the details along the edges:
Use the Selection Brush tool with Mode set to Mask. Invert the selection and you will see that the selection is masked in red. Lower the Overlay Opacity enough to see the object, select a small brush size, and paint away... painting adds to the mask, holding down Alt as you paint erases the mask. Zoom in far to work on details and use a small brush size. When you are done set Mode back to Selection and invert the selection.

  • Can I erase background of vid and only keep 1 moving subject?

I am working with a football video and need to erase the background as runner is running and just keep the runner. Is that possible with FCP? I have tried garbage mattes and chroma key. I guess I don't know what I am doing but if it is possible, please let me know how to do it. Thanks.

Wow, sounds like you've got a lot more tolerance for tedium than I do.
Roto is already so laborious and monotonous, it's barely tolerable, for me. The functionality of this particular matte seems like an ice pick to the forhead. At least in Motion you can click-drag a mask point, or bezier handle at will—and manipulate it, quickly and easily. With this 50 pt. matte, don't you have to go to the "control window", click the little cross hair, then place/edit that point in the canvas? That's fine until you want to adjust it, then you have to go back over to the control panel to re-gain control. You're constantly bouncing between control panel & canvas it seems... Ouch!
Maybe I'm missing something about how this matte works. But if I had to work like that, I'd pull my hair out. I'm not knocking your workflow if you've used this before. I'm applauding your efforts to see it through. Congratulations! You're a far more patient individual than am I!
Though, to the OP, if the Final Cut Suite is all that's available, I'd certainly look at doing this job in Motion.
Yes, AE is going to faster at this, if we're talking about the Rotobrush tool that shipped with CS5. It's not a one-click-wonder. But it certainly does a great "first pass" that you can clean up and refine, after it's done the initial dirty work. But if you don't have AE CS5, it's kind of moot. I think the AE process and the Motion process are going to be nearly the same, regarding time-spent. Either packages' "standard" mask manipulation tools are very similar. (If we're disregarding the Rotobrush.)
Here's a tip, regarding Roto (in any application): it's not always best to use a single mask/matte. Instead, combine several mattes into one. In this instance, maybe 5 individual masks? One for: torso/head, arm, arm, leg, leg. Gives you more flexibility in the long run. And it's no more time consuming than using a single mask.

  • BPC Input Schedule: DELETE button erase background color

    Hi,
Can anyone help on the following problem:
I have an input schedule (either with nested rows or simple) and BPC by default marks all changed cells with red color. But when [DEL] button key is pressed in a cell all other marked cells on the same row loses their red color and became white again. It's undesirable behavior.
I've searched the forum and internet but nowhere this topic arise, maybe i'm doing something wrong. The one idea is to write a VBA macros which automatically recognize modified cells and then restores their previous backgrounds. Is there another solution?
    Thank you!
    Ivan

    Hi,
When you create a report/input schedule using standard formating option system will generate with [multiple format|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bpc75_nw/helpdata/en/87/2e5940a305405f957eb987daf30d5b/content.htm] .When you change the value it will turn to Red beacuse it defined under format range with criteria CHANGED and format with Red color. But system will not recognise DELETE as change. That is why if you want to delete a specific value you should make that value as 0 then only system will consider that as change other wise system would prompt you a message "There is no data to refresh".
I think you have to write your own macro if you really want to use DELETE function, instead of zerorise the values.
    hope it helps...
    regards,
    Raju

  • Weird background almost like moisture and volume issue.

    Hi,
I just got my iPad 2 days ago and everything seem to be working fine. Luckily I didn't have any wifi issues. I've kept it in good condition, away from kids, heat, water charged it to full every night and did frequent backups. Today while playing Fieldrunners my ipad decided to freeze on me. When I try to raise the volume it would take a picture. When I hit the home button it would take a picture. I had to do a hard reset holding the home and power button and doing it again to shut it off. Upon starting up the ipad, it kept showing the apple logo and going back to black screen. So I had to completly shut it off and plug it to a charger.
    What happened? http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs533.ash1/3125410150197146075468_651400467_12573980_500794n.jpg

I just had a second opinion with one of my friends who happens to work for cisco systems and he deals with coding and devices all day. I challenge any Apple Genius to debate the issue with my iPad of being water damaged. Here's what he told me from his professional opinion.
He stated that given the fact my iPad was covered with a rubber case grip around, there is no possible way liquid can enter the ipad unless it was dunked in water and held there for a few minutes. However, he did state that moisture is the common cause for liquid damage and a lot of devices. In his professional opinion, he stated that my iPad was exposed to moisture from the air which caused the pad to damage "OVER TIME". Because I was stepping outside the house with the pad and entering the home, the damage was already done and was a matter of time before it showed. Upon turning it on the next day, the pad showed it's damage because; once again "OVER TIME" the liquid settled in from the moisture.
He also told me to contact corporate office and dispute the idea that liquid was spilled on the pad. He also said that if it's that easy for moisture to enter the pad than the product is not of good quality.
I'm sorry to extend all this but I find it hard to believe knowing I never spilled a drop of liquid on the pad and I was told it was water damage. $800 is a lot of money and I'm not ready to give it up. We're not all made of money and for a device this expensive to damage so quickly I would think Apple would want to replace it for me especially being a first time Apple buyer.

  • The error console erases itself almost immediately for support files

I see error messages flash by in my support files such as javascript or CSS, but they go away faster than I can read them
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== recently perhaps right after loading FF 3.6

Try asking about that in the Web Developer extension support forum, as it modifies the Error Console functions a bit:
    http://chrispederick.com/forums/
I see that you have that extension disabled, but maybe it is still causing the Error Console to be cleared like that.

  • Erase tool in PS touch

How come the app is seriously slowing down now, and crashing when I use the Erase Tool on the iPad 3 version?

    Hi there,
Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I have restarted the device..multiple times, In fact, every time I used the erase tool I had to reboot the iPad.
Ok, it's happened on several projects I will try and describe the sequence of events ...It always happens after using the lasso tool, and the inverse to erase background from an image...the whole process immediately slows to a crawl...I can see each independent round erase brush circle on the page...then...the progress square bar appears and it stalls...no button works, including the home button to release the crash...a hard boot (restart) is the only thing that works.
I had wondered if it was a free memory kind of thing, so...I deleted piles of data from my tablet, and have 4GB free, nope...no luck...I wonder if I should reinstall the whole program?
Hopefully I have recreated this as best as I could...
Specs: iPad 3 running, iOs 6.0.1, PS version 1.4.0
    Cheers,

  • Where is the Eraser Tool

Where is the Eraser Tool in Elements 11? I have been using an older version that has an eraser. I can't seem to find it in Elements 11. The Scratches and Blemishes tools seem to be very difficult to use and confusing.

Press E on the keyboard to see all three choices in the bottom tool options. You should see eraser, background eraser and magic extractor tools.

  • Cleaning up background

I have been frustrated when trying to remove the "backgrounds" from a couple of old portraits.  It's probably because I can't figure out the Lasso tool and other ways of performing this task the "easy" way.  Also, the outline of the people is out of focus, making it harder for Photshop to figure out the desired borders.  So what I did what choose the "Erase Background" eraser and manually spent an hour erasing everything around the people.  This sucked, because the eraser function doesn't seem to erase 100% of what I move over -- so I have to "scrub" the photo to remove all of the pixels.  And worse yet, even after I've done that, using different brush sizes, the background still looks "dirty."  (See the pic below).  Any ideas about how to eliminate this, preferably quickly?  I should confess that I don't even understand the "layers" in Photoshop, so I might be a difficult student!  :-(  Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Masking is very simple. Check this quick tutorial out which should help: Quick Mask Mode | Understanding Adobe Photoshop CS6 | Adobe TV

  • Crackling and hissing noises in background of podcast audio

I've just recorded the audio for a podcast (two-person interview), and as I've listened back I've found an annoying crackling noise in the background at a few points. Any ideas about how to remove (or at least minimise) it? Also, at some points there is a kind of hissing noise in the background (almost like the distant sound of crickets!) - any tips on minimising or removing that?

Thanks for the reminder Richard and yes, I had done that via the "common" folder and cleaned out all the cache in the various folders. The result was negative, still had the issue.
So, I decided to move all audio (about 16 mins) on track 1 down to track 2, leaving track 1 completely empty of audio. Then I muted track 1.
The issue was happening at around 4:20secs into the audio. Interestingly, when testing Pr crashed when the playhead reached 4:20secs, right at the spot that I was getting the old "deleted" audio in the background with a lot of crackle. I restarted my Mac completely and repeated the process of moving all audio to track 2 etc etc... and once again Pr crashed at 4:20secs.
    What to do?
I copied the piece of audio giving me issues from track 2 and pasted it into track 1. I first pasted it away from the problem area (4:20secs) and there was no "old deleted audio in the background with a lot of crackle" to be heard. :-) So I moved this piece of audio and placed it right above the 4:20secs problem area and reduced the audio volume to -infinity. I also muted track 1 again.
Then I played the entire video... and, Pr didn't crash and the "old deleted audio in the background with a lot of crackle" was gone. Gone kinda, because this is a work around and the issue is still there but suppressed for now. I have no idea why it happened and a more technical solution is totally welcome.
What do you think about the above Richard? Hope it made sense? Felt like it took 25 years to sort this out...

  • About Lumia 1520 discharge rate

    Hello
I have a question about my L1520 battery life and its discharge rate.
    Cellular: On ( LTE )
Internet Sharing: On ( One laptop connected )
    Display: Off
    BT: Off
    Location: Off
    Double tap to wake: Off
    Glance: Peek
Apps open on the background: Nothing most of the times
Applications allowed to perform in the background ( Almost used for PUSH Notifications and the apps are not open. ): Viber, Whats app, Outlook ( One email ), Insider, Weather ( For two cities )
    And I think that's all,
Battery consumption: about 2 percent every 20 minutes.
I want to know if it is normal or not. Because I'm a little worried about the discharge rate and the bettery health.
    Thank you
