Erasing my bank account details from my apple account

I want to erase my bank details from my apple account although it won't let me it will only let me change it not erase it.
Due to this I cannot get any apps as my account has no funds so my billing information need to be changed I try to erase but it won't let me. I know in the beginning I had the option of no card but once I put my card details in I don't have that option. Please help

How do I remove my credit card details from my Apple Account? I do not like the fact that Apple does not provide a clear and simple option to 'Delete a payment card', I definitely do not think this is legal.

Thankyou for the latter responses from ssschmidt and limnos - as it happens I figured this out by myself. Yes, it appears that Apple will not let you delete an account UNTIL YOU HAVE VALIDATED THE CARD DETAILS. That it, until you have given them all of your credit card details - even down to the 3 digit validation number. Only once you have provided this information does the 'Payment type - NONE' appear.
I figure however, that you can just put any 3 digits in, ie, it doesn't need to be your actual 3 pin code, for the system to let you pass to the NONE option.
As I said before, I still think this ***** the big one. Apple should not be insisting on getting customers' bank details in this way - especially since there are these PHISHING emails floating around which look extremely like official Apple communications. It was the receipt of one such email that alerted me to this issue in the first place - thanks Limnos, I didn't respond :-)
This is the first time I've used this 'user to user' set up for a query like this, and I totally think it's ridiculous. This information should be readily available from Apple - no wonder their profit levels are so astromical!

Hi not sure if this is posted in the right place but i'll give it a go anyway.
Would anyone know how to delete credit card details from an Apple account?
Someone posted selecting 'none' in the payment section would work but i logged into my account online on a computer there aren't any options at all to do this.
I tried hitting edit but there isn't a delete button.
If anyone knows any help would be most appreciated!

On your computer's iTunes you should be able to edit your payment info by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account, and on your account's details page there should be a payment link. If you are doing it on your iPad then tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account - that should also give you a payments link on your account's page.

What sort of card are you trying to use ? If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined
If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes support and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management

I don't think you can remove a credit card from the account, but you can try by going to:
Settings > iTunes & App Store > (tap on Apple ID: [email protected]) > (tap on Payment Information) > select "None"
You can alternatively enable Restrictions on the device to block purchases without a special restrictions password that only you know:
Settings > General > Restrictions > Enable Restrictions

Did you put in a U.K. credit card? If you want to use the U.K. store, you'll need a valid billing address in the U.K., and a credit card billed to that address. You can't use the Italian credit card.
If you've done that and it's just a question of the phone stuck on the Italian store, go to the App Store, from the Featured page, scroll to the bottom. Tap on the button with your Apple ID. Tap View Account. Enter the password for your U.K. account. Tap Country/Region and set it to U.K. Tap Done.

so when i tried to buy something the other day on the app store it told my my card was declined so i needed to re enter my card details, in doing so it then told me:
your payment method was declined please enter another payment method.
so i then searched on apple what to do about this, you said to go onto payment information on account and delete it, or click none for payment method.
the billing of your previous purchase has failed because your payment type was declined. please provede valid payment card information and click done to pay your outstanding balance and continue using the store.
if i cant delete my card and i cant use it then what do i do? i dont want to have to buy a gift card.
also my account says it has £4 something in it so why cant i buy an app for 69p?
please help me!

I can't remove my credit card details from Apple ID

Hey guys
I can't seem to remove my previous card details from my Apple ID, it keeps requesting me to enter the security code for that previous credit card.
My card was stolen from me so I have no idea whats the CVS code anymore. But you are not giving me an option to change a new credit card in that section. This is causing my iPhone's App store to keep disabling the Apple ID. This is my 4 password change today trying to fix this problem.

It happens on Mac App Store & iPhone App store as well.
So clearly the problem is on my Apple ID..
I've changed my credit card details on my Apple ID but it doesn't reflect onto my phone when I login after restarting the phone. Even if i sign out.
When it reaches the part where I would need to verify my phone after entering my password. It just keeps requesting for my password and never shows me anything.
If I click update apps it'll just disable my account. Even on my Mac App store same thing happening.

I can't erase all data and content from my iPhone 4s. It says iCloud account not verified, when it only asks for my Apple ID to erase all data and content.

It's really been puzzling me, I've never logged in the Apple site on a laptop before - I have been getting the same message 'Unable to verify iCloud account' every time I try and erase all data and content from my iPhone 4s. When I go to iCloud on my laptop and sign in using my Apple ID it signs me in. These are the same log in details I am prompted for when trying to erase all data/content from the phone. If anybody could point me in the direction that would be really appreciated. Thanks

Yes, I recently changed my Apple ID password - around 2 weeks ago when I bought the phone.
Does anyone know if you need to do the IOS update to be able to restore all data and content? I have not installed the new update on either of my iPhone 4S's yet.
The phone I am trying to reset was sold to me by a friend and when it was it had already been reset and it was on the language selection screen.

You might see authorization requests on your online statement. These requests aren't actual charges; they are tests to confirm that your payment card account is active and has available funds to accommodate transactions. Authorization holds are removed by your financial institution shortly after your purchase clears. The time it takes to remove authorization requests varies by financial institution.
The number of days that it takes to diappear varies by bank, but it's usually a few days - though with the weekend coming up it might take an extra day or two
