Erasing something in a clip

I have FCE2. I recorded a scene and "printed" the date on the tape. It is part of the scene. When I edit this clip, I want to remove the date. There are several colors behind the date.
How can I remove the date such as erasing it and leaving the surrounding color in its place?

It very much depends on the scene itself, but you might try this free effect Clone.
It allows to copy a rectangle of your choice from a portion of the scene into another portion: for example to cover your printed date. There is an example in the web page itself.
It might be simple for static scenes, for short scenes, or where the date to be covered is surrounded by a uniform background. It might be difficult or impossible in other cases.

Depends on how do you want to do it. If you store your backups with iCloud - try in your iPad's preferences. If you keep your stuff on your computer - plug your iPad in and launch iTunes, the photos should be there.

Transfer the purchass by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
If not transferred, the purchases will not be on the iPod after the update.

Sort of. There is an app called art shop that gives you a place to park clip art. But I don't think you really need it.
If you have a collection of clip art you want available, move it to the camera roll on your pad/ phone, then copy paste into your document the clip you want.
You can get them into the camaera roll by putting them in a single event in your picture library and syncing them over, or e mail them to your self, and save to the camera roll, or send them to drop box, and bring them down that way.
The challenge is getting them all in one place to make it easy for you to find, which is why syncing might be the best approach in the long run.
As near as I can tell there is not a ready made clip art collection in app format laying around.

Use Clone or Spot Healer to Erase Video Imperfection thorughout Clip ?

I imported into Photoshop a video clip of me speaking before a group and my hair is sticking up in the back. Is it possible to use the clone or spot healing tool or another tool to erase this hair sticking up the first time it happens and then have it carry through the entire video of me without having to use the tool in each clip? It is a continuous, four minute video of me speaking and each time I lean my head forward my hair sticking up is vidable and distracting. Thanks. This is the first time I have used photoshop.

I am not an After Effects user but based on a couple of things I have seen over time I assume it should be easier to achieve in that application than in Photoshop.

Changing something in a clip

I need to know if there is a way to make someone's hair longer in a clip? I realize I can probably do this in photoshop, but how will I be able to keep it a moving image in FCE?

The process is called "rotoscoping" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotoscope ) and is very time consuming and labor intensive.
You can do this in Photoshop CS3 Extended and probably in After Effects.

Thanks for your help. I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned the thumbnails folders - I looked inside those and found a miniature of the whole movie - obviously it refers to that when showing you the previews etc. Thats why nothing seemed to have changed. Im sure that when I finalised or exportted it would have referred to the full version.
While I was waiting for an answer I just went ahead and reimported the whole thing and found that I could replace the existing video with the new one and all the titles etc styed in place.
I will be interested to see some other time if it is possible to simply switch and and delete the thumbnails.

How do I erase something from startup memory?

There's an app named "Vocal" that has a desktop counterpart program. I tried to open the desktop program recently, only to receive the following error message:
"Vocal" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.
Upon further research, I found that the developer's website was no longer functional. I therefore uninstalled the program from my iMac and emptied the trash; I then rebooted. Unfortunately, even though the program's deleted, I still get the error message whenever I boot up, so there's some little snippet of the program still in my iMac's startup routine. How can I remove that from my iMac? TIA.

That message appears when Gatekeeper detects that the developer didn't use Developer ID for the app. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5290
You can open easily the app, right-clicking it and selecting "Open", or just changing its settings in System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General.
In order to stop charging the app every startup, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, select the application and press the - button, so it won't load anymore during the start of the computer

Clips erased from import window.please help

hi. i erased 10 giga of clips from the import window of fcp and they were erased from the external that they were in.i continued reading the external but did not write anything.i tried one stellar(something) datarecovery software and didnt work.can i save my files?

Is it possible to draw a line on a clip?

I want to create a line, with arrowhead, to point out something in a clip. My preference is to have the line appear as though it were being drawn, hence it might be a wipe.
I can see at least one method of simply adding a line. Take a frame and add the line in Photoshop E, then insert the frame back into the clip sequence.
However, I can't see if there is a way to make the line dynamic as described above. As an example think of the way sports commentators draw over a play to indicate the tactics that are being executed.
My question: Is there a way to accomplish a "dynamically appearing line" using Pre and PE?

Now for the rest of your questions.
Yes, that "revealing" was what I was talking about, and Keyframing the Crop Effect should allow you to reveal over time, as you want.
As for the circle, there is a bit more involved, as the Crop, or Linear Wipe Transition will work in a linear fashion, unlike how a circle would be actually drawn. Same as with cursive Text, in a "handwriting" font. To do those, I first go into Photoshop, and create say my circle, as I want it to appear in the final. This will be my last Frame of the animation. Then, I create a Layer Mask to cover up the circle. This will be my first Frame. With say the Eraser Tool, set to a soft-edged Brush, I will Frame-by-Frame Erase parts of the Layer Mask, doing a Save_As PSD, for each step. This will yield every intermediate Frame in the process, and when Imported, and placed on the Timeline, will appear as the circle (or handwriting font), being drawn by hand. Before Import, adjust your Still Duration (in Edit>Preferences) to about 3 - 5 Frames, and then place a Cross-Dissolve between each Frame. I also temporarily set my Transition Duration to be very short. The exact Duration of the stills (the PSD's), and the Duration of the Transitions might require some tweaking, until you are satisfied with the smoothness.
I had to animate about 10 lines of cursive handwriting Text for a DVD Menu, and even with PS and my Layer Mask, it took several hours, then a bit more to find the right Duration and Transition Duration, but the effect was worth the effort. I then added an SFX of chalk striking a chalkboard (for the start of each letter/word), and an SFX of chalk writing on a chalkboard to complete the effect. A circle would be much easier.

PS - I also used a bit of "distress" for the handwriting, so that it was not 100% on the edges, but that was an easy effect, as it only had to be applied to the complete Frame, and thus was visible as each part of each letter/word was "revealed" by the Layer Mask. I forget if PSE has Layer Mask, or not.

PLEASE HELP. my 2007 macbook will not accept the reinstall disc mac os x 10.4.9 after i erased everything. the screen is grey with a flashing folder with ? on it. what can i do to fix it?

i erased everything from my macbook and try to reinstall the MAC os x 10.4.9. but now when i restart my computer the screen is grey with a file folder marked with a "?" flashing. when the dics is already already inserted and i restart it, regardless if i hold down the "c" or "d" key with rebooting, the disc is automatically ejected and then it goes back to the grey screen with the flashing "? folder".
if i was to try and reinstall the "for mac computers" os x 10.5.4 the computer will load the disc and bring me to the language select menu but as soon as i click the "next" button it tells me that the software is not able to be installed on that computer.
i have no clue what to do. the computer was working COMPLETELY fine before i erased something.

Yikes, what happens or shows if you hold the Option or alt key on bootup?
The 10.5.4 Disc at least sounds like a Gray Machine specific Disk, or wrong Partition Scheme!???
Does that one allow Disk Utility to run?
Did you Erase to GUID?

Rotate Multiple Clips in the Event Browser (help)!

I make no apology for posting this a second time - there were no replies to my first post and if you've ever contemplated rotating something like 400 clips by opening them one by one in the Timeline and then adjusting the Rotate parameter in the Inspector, you'll know how I feel.
I want the correction to be on the clips in the Browser, because there's a lot of waste footage and it's so hard to trawl through it upside down. Rotating in the Storyline is dead easy but it doesn't affect the Browser clips - and that's what I need.
I'm sure I read you could do this - and I'm sure I tried it, and it worked - but I can't get it to work again.
I'm convinced the Browser Thumbnails turned the right way up - but I may be hallucinating.
I know it involved opening one clip in the timeline and either adding the 'Flipped' effect or changing the Rotation in the Inspector. I then (somehow) applied that change to the rest of the clips in the Event Browser.
Already tried copying and then Cmd+Alt+V, on all the selected clips in the Browser, but no joy. I also tried adding the rest of the Browser Clips to the same Timeline (which then magically becomes a Storyline) and Copying and Pasting there - but that doesn't affect the Browser Clips.
(Maybe it's my age).

OK - so here's how I did it in the end . . .
Copy a rotated clip in the timeline.
Right-click a clip in the Browser.
Choose 'Open in Timeline'
Press Cmd+2 to select the timeline.
Press ' i ' to select the clip in the timeline.
Press Alt+Cmd+v to Paste the Effects.
I got a stiff neck doing it - SURELY there's a proper way to do it?
