I still new to my playbook can anyone help I have a Sony ereader with book that I want to transfer to my playbook I also have a back copies on my laptop.
So how do I transfer my books from my laptop to my playbook do I need an app which one would be the best to use and is this even possible I thought it be so simple.

It depends on two things. File format (eg EPUB) and if the ebook is protected by DRM.
If you are lucky and it's a drm free epub then a paid for app like Book Reader for Epub and Kindle for 99 cents or 75 pence will do it. The app supports several formats.
Drag book to any folder in playbook (eg Books folder) using PC to Playbook file sharing, then follow the instructions in the book reader app.

Can I reauthorise my computer and ereader?

I made the mistake of selecting the wrong button after I signed into Adobe Editions and now I cannot download books from the library. I'm not sure if my ereader is authorised or not any more.

To authorize your ADE, menu/Help/Authorize Computer.
To authorize your eReader, first authorize the computer then with the device plugged in, menu/Help/Authorize Device.
Sometimes you get confused authorization: more below but in summary in that case deauthorize and reauthorize
deauthorize computer: ctrl-shift-D (cmd-shift-D on Mac)
deauthorize device: ctrl-shift-E (cmd-shift-E on Mac) while plugged in and running ADE

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. Trying to set up ereader for library books but unable to authorise computer.

I am trying to set up a Kobo Aura ereader to borrow and read library books. I have verified my Adobe ID. Each time I try (I installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Digital Editions) I am unable to authorise my Windows 7 computer. I get the following error message.

Let's try this first. Press the wireless button on the front of the printer and execute a "Restore Defaults".
Next, restart the router by pulling its power plug momentarily, then try the WPS procedure again. If that does not work, contact your ISP to see if the WPS button is functional.
If it is not, let me know and I can walk you through a much harder, but effective technique.

Books not being transferred to Ereader :(

For about a year now I have successfully downloaded books from the library, loaded onto the Adobe Digital Software and then moved it to my Kobo. All of a sudden, it stopped working. When I transfer the book to the ereader (from adobe software) it says the book is there. However, it is not there. I have tried 4 different books now, all the same result. Should I delete my Adobe software and start new?

It sounds more as if there is some corruption on the eReader.
Back up any books that you only have on the Kobo first.
Then try a factory reset: your kobo instructions should be able to tell you how.
You will then probably need to re-register the Kobo with your AdobeID using ADE.

Transferring book to ereader

After I download my books from the library and they appear in adobe digital editions library I cannot transfer them to my ereader.After I have dragged
my book over to my ereader a message comes up that I have no access.

To make it work, you need the computer and the device authorized with the same AdobeID.
This must be an explict AdobeID, not an 'authorize computer without ID'.
Maybe you registered the old computer with your AdobeID, and the device from that?
And maybe with the new computer you have not yet registered your AdobeID?
Assuming you are on ADE2.0, check that with ctrl-shift-I to ADE (cmd-shift-I on Mac).
That will tell you the ID you are registered with.
If the new computer isn't registered with your ID,
crtl-shift-D to ADE to remove any trash registration it may have
restart ADE
Register ADE with your AdobeID (ctrl-shift-U)

I can't download an epub book to my ereader

I've been purchasing books from kobo & I have to make sure they are a drm book coz if they are only a epub file it will open up in my library on adobe digital edition but when I go to where all my downloaded books are it doesn't seem to come across so I can transfer it to my ereader... I can only read the epub file on my laptop in the ade program????? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Program crashes when I try to load EPUB/ASCM ebook file or transfer the file to Nook ereader.

I recently checked out an ebook from my library's OverDrive and downloaded the EPub file to my Mac OS 10.10.1 computer. File downloaded to computer without incident, showing up as a acsm file in my Downloads folder. But when I attempt to open the file in Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.2 in order to transfer it to my Nook ereader, a message comes up saying it is fulfilling (similar to normal) but then the program crashes.
I get this error message:

Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more
detailed information and send a report to Apple.
With buttons that say: Ignore Report Reopen)
Then when I reopen Adobe Digital Editions, it appears as thought the file is in the Adobe Digital Editions browser, but if I click on it to open it or try and transfer it to my Nook ereader device the program crashes again. (Same error message)
I've tried erasing the file and redownloading the ebook from Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox and the same thing happens. I've also tried restarting my computer and looking for updates to resolve the issue (there were none). I've used this program before with no issues, so this problem is new. Mike, that worked -- I think! I couldn't change the printer without a document open, but while I was in the File menu, I noticed the "Browse in Bridge" command, and it occurred to me that I hadn't tried opening a file from Bridge. It opened first to the templates, and I realized I had not tried opening a template. So I did, that worked, and I changed the printer from where it was set (Adobe pdf) to my regular printer. Now I can create new files, and all files seem to open without a problem. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean. Did you redeem the gift card to your iTunes Store account? If not, just give your brother the gift card and he can redeem it in his own iTunes Store account. If you did redeem the card, then there's no way to transfer the balance from your iTunes Store account to his. He'd have to use your iTunes Store account to make the purchases and sync to his devices.

HELP!!! Downloaded ebook to ereader via ADE, only 1 page of symbols come up on ereader.

Hi there, I have bought an ereader and have downloaded free ebooks to it with no problems. When I went to buy a book I had to download ADE to view it on my computer. I have gone to the link and downloaded it to ereader and all that comes up is on page of symbols, so I tried another book and now only a page of Chinese (I think) comes up. What am I doing wrong??? Please will be grateful for any help.

How do I get my ereader to appear on the left hand side of Digital Editions?

I have a Kobo Vox ereader and it works well. It connects to my computer and appears when I look at My Computer. It doesn not appear on the left hand side of Digital Editions under Devices (devices does not appear either) when ADE is started. The book I downloaded appears in ADE and is readable in ADE. How do I get the Kobo to appear within ADE so I can transfer the book. ADE does not seem to see the device to ask me to register it as the help screen suggest it might. I've made sure that it is connected before I open ADE. Please help.

The eReader is authorized/activated with an AdobeID rather than with a computer.
It is possible to have multiple computers and multiple devices all authorized with the same ID.
The eReader gets its authorization when you Authorize Device from any computer;
and then should work find when connected to any other computer authorized with the same ID.

One possible reason for your issue is that you haven't authorized the laptop with your AdobeID.
In that case ADE generates an anonymous/implicit ID with very limited capabilities.
In particular, one capability missing is the ability to pass the implicit ID onto a device;
so it is possible (???) that in that case ADE does not show the device.
If that is the case
ctrl-shift-D to ADE (cmd-shift-D if it's a Mac) on the laptop to remove the anonymous ID
restart ADE (maybe not needed)
authorize ADE with the same ID as you are using on the desktop
restart ADE (maybe not needed)
plug in the eReader and see if it is recognized

Adobe Digital Editions 4.0 crashes each time I try to move a library ebook to my kobo ereader

I am using Mac OS X 10.9.5. I installed ADE 4.0 and was able to use the ascm file from my local library to download a library book to ADE 4.0 bookshelf. ADE recognizes my Kobo eReader, but when I drag the book to the eReader, ADE first tells me it is copying the file to the eReader, then it promptly crashes and gives a long error (pasted below). I tried this on my laptop too, which uses Mac OS X 10.7.5, also with ADE 4.0. Exact same thing happens.
I have no idea what's going on. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried plugging the eReader in at different times (when ADE is launched, and before it launches), with no change in the error.
Any help will be appreciated!

Cant get books to ereader

Please can you help?? I have a Kobo Glow ereader and my computer is windows xp. I downloaded adobe digital editions 2.0. I cant get the books from my library to the ereader. when I get digital editions launched and click on library, a pop up tells me it has to close

There are lots of issues with ADE2.0. Among others, it doesn't support XP pre SP3, and is flakey on XP SP3.
I suggest you try v1.7.2.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

EReader message: This computer is not authorized to preview this book (but it is and I've bought the book)

Message on computer for eReader says "This computer is not authorized to preview this book" but it is authorized and I've bought the book. Am trying to access information that will tell me how to retrieve books that I've tried to delete from the reader (but appear to have deleted from the computer).

This is typically caused by file corruption. Delete and redownload those songs if doing so is free in your country.

Sony PRS-T1 ereader not appearing in Digital Editions

My Sony PRS-T1 ereader does not appear in Digital Editions for me to be able to transfer ebooks to the ereader.
The Adobe site lists this ereader as a supported device. It's software is updated and my version of Digital Editions is 2.0
Any ideas on what I can do to make Digital Editions recognize this ereader?
