can I use 1st genereration ipod touch as a ereader if so what application that runs on 3.2
The Nook reader version 2.1.2 runs on the iPod touch 1st gen. I also have the Borders e-book app from Kobo, but it's no longer available in the App Store and the version available looks like it need iOS 4 to run. I'm not finding any new apps that will run on the 1st gen so it looks like I'll have to upgrade at some point. Hope this helps!

Are you sure you authorized it for the ID)s) that purched all the media on the iPod?

Whenever I go to iTunes with my iPod 5th generation 32 gb iPod Touch, running iOS 8.0.2, It tells me that the "Other" category is using up 14.59 gb of data. I have no clue why it says this and I have searched the internet for fixes and none worked. I have tried on a windows and a mac and noticed no change. I have tried restoring to a backup but that didn't help. I haven't had time to do a full restore but I will try if the problem persists.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

I get a message "The Itunes server could not be contacted, check your internet connection" when trying to check for Ipod Nano software updates. I have a 1st generation Nano and haven't updated the software for a while. My internet connection is working. Was thre a change in the internet address for NANO software updates? Do I have to reconfigure something in Itunes to point to the correct address?
What version of iTunes are you using? The latest is 10.6.3. In iTunes, choose Help -> About iTunes to check the version number. If it's lower than 10.6.3, download the latest version from here.

I have a 3rd generation, original model iPod Touch. My USB conneror cable cord is worn out. I cannot use the newer cord that works with my iPhone 3SG. Can I get a version of the cord that will work with the oroginal version of an iTouch, 3rd generation iPod Touch?

How can I keep my iTunes content and my account private, but enable him to create his own iTunes account to use on my iPod Touch? No mention of the Touch, it works differently from other iPods and has no "disk mode" as such.
I think it can be used as a storage device by using a 3rd party App, search the the App Store for such items.
Photos transferred to your Touch via iTunes will be of severely compromised quality i.e 640x480 pixel resolution and file size around 600-700 kb. These can be retrieved, again using a 3rd party application on your computer, such as [Touch Copy|http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy> but you will not get back original quality images.

You do not merge libraries.
iDevices sync to one and only one computer.
If you want a single library, you manually move the content from one library to another... all content will still be associated with the Apple ID it was acquired with. -
How can i use my 3rd Generation iPod as a portable harddrive for files...
now that i have a brand new 5th Generation 60Gig iPod, i want to use my old 3rd Generation iPod as a portable storage devise for files and whatever else. not for listening to music anymore. what do i have to do to make this so?
i can just go ahead and use the firewire cable that came with it right? and will i actually be able to upload files to it, and then download them again? like word documents and photo files or spreadsheet or whatever?
will it be cross platform then? meaning will i be able to take it to my friends pc (i use a mac) and download my resume or spreadsheet or whatever else to his machine (of course i would have to use the usb cable then).
know what i mean? i want to use this think like an external harddrive.

iBook and Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.3) and OSX 10.4 on the MBPi think ipods are generally set to enable disc mode, so you can use it as a storage device, by default (if yours isnt, plug your ipod in, and go into options to select enable disc mode). just connect the ipod with whatever cord it came with to your computer, then look into the m.. is it called "my harddrive" or "harddrive"? and you should see the ipod connected there on the left side of the window with "network" and "music" etc. if you click on the ipod icon, you can drag and drop files into your ipod just as you would any other folder and use it as a harddrive.
the tricky thing is using it for both pc and mac. i think if its formatted for a pc, you can use it on both macs and pcs. but if you have it formatted for a mac, then only macs can read it.
so if you want to use it on your friends pc as well, format your ipod on a pc first so you can use it on both platforms.

You can't back up to iCloud until you update to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to back up your iPod on your computer using iTunes. Update iTunes on your computer to the latest version, then connect your iPod to your computer, open iTunes, if iTunes give you a pop-up asking if you want to update your iPod, decline. Then click on the name of your iPod in iTunes, go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer any purchased media to your iTunes library. Next, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click on Back Up Now to back up your iPod on your computer.
When it's done backing up, click on Check for Update (or Update) on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings. Allow your iPod to update, and leave it connected to your computer. At the end, it will restart and give you the option to restore to the iTunes backup you made earlier. Choose this option to restore your backup and sync your apps and other iTuens media to your phone.
